I get sick and tired of the world standing and pointing at crap like this, turning to us and saying " DO SOMETHING...Don't just stand there."...let the other freeloading countries spend their money and shed their blood if they are so concerned. And another thing is this. These people and most of the middle east hate our guts and protest us in the streets and would kill Americans on sight given half a chance. Why get involved at all? We need to cut all aide to these people, use the money to develop our own oil reserves and make ourselves self reliant on oil and stay out of all Muslim countries is my line of thinking.4 points

If the gun runs fine with factory rounds, then don't mess with the gun. It's too easy to turn one that works into one that doesn't. I won't touch a 1911 extractor. I'll carry it to Tim Calhoun first. 1911's can be finicky. But again... if it works with factory ammo, it ain't the gun.4 points

this was the deal breaker for me buying a membership at Shooters Depot here in Chattanooga. their lanes are set up so your brass goes out onto the range. I had paperwork filled out to join. i asked how can i get my brass? Dude says you dont....i asked why cant i have my brass back to reload and was told because we sell it...thats why....I tore up the papers and waked out. Aint been back either.3 points

I absolutely agree with what you have said here. Even though I understand the rules of the game and am adept at working within their constraints, I despise the race game and how it is played. The main reason I try keep attuned to these black conservative and libertarian voices is that living where I do and having the conversations that I do, it can be beneficial to have a resource that allows someone who looks like the person I am talking to saying the same things I am. This is especially true when I am speaking about the manner in which the party of Jim Crow and slavery used the programs of Johnson's Great Society to put black folks back on the plantation. Only this time instead of growing cotton they are growing voters.3 points

If you are expecting one of the Left's "spokesperson for black folks" to do that you will be waiting a looooong time. It doesn't fit their agenda and even when they do speak of it they say at most that it "should be frowned upon." I would say that if you haven't heard any black folks condemn any of these incidents you might want to look around and seek out the words of folks like Col. Allen West (Ret), Rachel Zo of Zonation, Dwayne at Blackinformant, Dr. Walter E. Williams and the plethora of other black conservatives and libertarians out there who don't get much face time on any major media outlet. There are lots of black voices speaking truth to the black community. It is just that most of us don't have the opportunity to hear those voices because we aren't part of that community either by geography or by choice to keep the "other" at arms length. Of course black folks aren't so monolithic a group as the media or our minds would have us believe. I personally know as varied a spectrum of thought amongst my friends of color as the bunch of saltines I generally hang with.3 points

Wednesday, September 11, 2013. Being retired and arising out of bed at 8:00 A.M. to a gorgeous day in the country, as my feet hit the floor I'm trying to decide the order of the day? I have chickens to tend, 3 acres of grass that really needs cutting, 2 acres of pasture that hasn't seen a bush hog in a year, and a bushel of green beans I picked yesterday that need canning but, I have to take the wife grocery shopping first, before I get all dirty, hot and sweaty working around here for the day. After I drain my four gallon bladder that completely filled over night and make the bathroom habitable for the wife with my flatulence, I stumble down to the kitchen and start to make a pot of coffee for us and hit the on switch. It will take about 15 minutes for the coffee to brew in our old coffee maker so I'll jump in the shower and it will be finished when I get clean and shiny. Get in the shower, adjust the temperature and hit the shower gizmo and start washing my hair first as usual. Man this feels good, hot water pouring over my body and I'm coming to life. Then... The water pressure begins to drop rapidly as I'm trying to get the shampoo off my head and face. I don't know if Prell shampoo burns the eyes but, I don't want to find out! There was just enough water pressure to rinse the shampoo off my head and face. Great I'm thinking, what a time for the well pump or well pressure tank to take a dump! I dried off and was getting dressed when the wife finally got up. I told her the coffee was ready by now and I'll join her as soon as I finish. I really wanted to shave but it would have to wait until I figured out if it was the well pump, pressure tank or electrical problems. Heard the wife yell up that the coffee was not even started and she hit the switch a couple of times and nothing. Then she noticed the microwave and oven didn't have the digital time displayed, hit the light switch and nothing, then yelled up to me the power is out! Thinking to myself, GOOD! It's not the well water pump, pressure tank or electrical, just a short power outage. For some reason around here the power has hiccups every month or two and the alarms clocks, microwave and stove start flashing midnight when it comes back on, but it's all blank now. Well, I'll just have to occupy myself so I sit down in my recliner and grab the television remote and suddenly remember, I hope the wife didn't see that! Sitting in my recliner thinking how stupid that was grabbing the remote with no electricity, I was looking out my front window at the road. Normally only maybe a dozen or so cars travel my country road in a day. I counted 57 cars in just a matter of ten minutes? Is this a parade or something on our little country road? Oh well, there must be a large yard sale or liquidation sale close by and dismissed it. I ask the wife if she is ready to go to the grocery store so I can get my day started. As usual, I get the standard I'm doing my hair and makeup crap. So I know that will be at least an hour, if not more! So I boil some water on my propane gas range and pour it in the automatic coffee maker and have a cup of patience, no two cups of patience! Finally with little daylight remaining the wife says she's ready to go but first would like to have a cup of coffee also. I've learned many mango seasons ago that if you needed to be somewhere at noon, you told the spouse you absolutely had to be there at 10:00 A.M. Finally, after a man's eternity we are in my old Dodge diesel truck and I fire her up and trek the ten miles to our local IGA store. On the ten mile trip things are so very abnormal, for a Wednesday morning there's twenty times the traffic on these country roads as there ought to be. Must be some special event or something I'm not aware of I'm thinking? As we are approaching our local IGA grocery store I notice the parking lot is completely filled and people are rushing about in what looks like a panic and are tossing their stuff in their vehicles instead of the normal packing it? I'm nervous and thinking, what's going on? The wife and I begin to talk about it and if we should even try to park and attempt to go in? We elected to not compete with the mob and started to head home. It wasn't imperative we do our grocery shopping today, it could wait until whenever? Talking we suggested that it must have been one hell of a sale or three fer and sort of laughed at it. Upon arriving home my closest neighbors of ½ mile away were there to greet us? As we were driving up our two hundred yard driveway they appeared anxious and stressed? Not even ready to exit the vehicle they were shouting, “did you hear, did you hear� Hear what I exclaimed... The point being, whether it's an economic collapse, nuclear war, EMP, major solar coronal mass ejection, multiple terrorist attacks, major earthquake, or whatever... If you wake up one morning and things are amiss, are you prepared to survive an extended period of time when you wake up and don't smell the coffee?2 points

OK an update. I couldn't believe it. I emailed them about 4:10 today, a SUNDAY, and I got a response from William Moore at about 4:30! They have ordered the molds, etc for my specific bullet and it will be here in a week or so. They are cheaper then Missouri Bullets and they are semi-local. Tennessee anyway. Before everybody gets too jumpy and throws "the baby out with the bathwater" so to speak; just take the time to remember that the minutemen, the british, the mountain men, the buffalo hunters, naval gunners, army cannoners, road builders, the quarrymen, and the miners everywhere (....and everybody else that shot or blasted anything...) handled black powder to do it with until well into the first 1/3 of the twentieth century. Havin said that; I'm convinced that esd probably set this charge off; but ive got no way of knowing that for sure. Ya need to use metal (...brass, non sparking....) tools to reload black powder with; along with a real good look at seeing to it that there is no potential source of electric charge near (...rugs, plastic tools handling powder, plastic loading blocks, cel phones, electric motors, ect, etc -- ya get the picture...) and that everything you use is non-sparking or grounded if the rounds (...or powder containers...) sit on it . Blasting regulations with all kinds of powder (...black and otherwise...) have always cautioned about lightning and electrostatic discharge when handling and loading explosives (...black powder is an explosive... Smokeless powder is a flammable solid...). Electrical sparks (...big or little...) can set this stuff off; as can a pretty good blow (...shock as with a hammer blow...) to the powder itself. Dont be dragged off into the woods by some yahoo on youtube sayin that electric sparks wont set off black powder. Rules for handling black powder and explosives are "written in blood". That means that researching catastrophes and confabulations (...after burying the dead and tending to the maimed...) caused these "rules" to be known and adopted. Being careful is the watchword with all reloading; and is doubly true when handling black powder, dynamite, or anything else that can set ya on fire or blow ya up. Remember, on balance, the most dangerous thing that ya handle with reloading is the primer. It explodes from a relatively light physical blow. Look carefully at everything ya do... . There is a place right up the road from our location where a genuine loss of life tragedy happened from what was suspected to be an esd. The place wuz the Pyro Shows fireworks fab facility. These guys were (...and are...) world class pros that make their living by handling black powder by the ton. Accidents happen from the most innocent of actions or from overlooking of hazards that are sitting in front of ya. This is a double lesson.... . One in thankfulness that Dave wasn't hurt any more that he was; and the other in that things can happen very unexpectedly and that the source of the confabulation can be relatively minor; even undetectable. Stuff like this worries me and I'll tell ya why. Us crackers tend to identify with our fore fathers more than anyone else, and by "crackers" I'm referring to us gun toting, Constitution loving conservatives. We don't have a problem taking matters into our own hands if need be. We don't look to others for help to solve our problems. The concern is for those of us crackers that see this purely as a race thing, just as much as it is a concern of mine for the black people who see this as a race thing. It is a prescription for disaster, but I couldn't classify it as a "race war" since the term itself implies that all members of the races would be active participants. I look at it as an ignorance war, which very well could happen, and could subsequently pull in the more moderate people who feel like they don't have a choice. I think the problem is all this racially charged talk and finger pointing by the fringe who are hoping this will happen, and it very well could. The scenario that worries me is another Trayvon type incident which sparks widespread attacks on whites I which one of those attacks results in a pile of bodies, which fuels a backlash we haven't seen before, followed by more bodies. That is how it starts in all these third world countries, and spirals out of control due to exponential ignorance. What folks on both sides of the race baiting aisle need to do is to take a step back, realize that it is not about race, it is about ignorant people doing ignorant things. But I don't think that's what they want. I think the fringe want exactly the thing they predict.. like a self fulfilling prophecy. So, when I see folks peddling racial discontent I am suspicious of their motives. I believe they want conflict. Hard to believe anyone would want that for their kids.2 points

Anti static devices are all about having everything you are working with at the same potential. Devices sold as anti static are unnecessary. Just like when working on a computer an anti static wrist strap is unnecessary if you make sure you touch the case before touching components. Something as simple as a metal mat on the table that you touch before you touch cartridges on it would work. It would be beneficial to tie it to an earth ground to know you are at 0 potential rather than you and your mat being at the same potential but not at 0. oops, kinda geeked out there for a sec. I've seen the videos with the guy dumping static into the powder and it not doing anything. I'd like to see the same test with a primer. I don't think the powder is what was set off by static. I'd bet if it was static, the primer is what was set off by static. I may have to get out the high voltage supply and test some primers.2 points

They are talking about people who advocate the use of force or violence. Someone here once used the term “Drive by revolutionariesâ€; they might be talking about you, if you are part of that group; but most here are not. I’m a huge advocate of States Rights; it’s the reason I don’t believe the Federal government can control whether you can or can’t carry a gun off your property. But that doesn’t make me a hater and has nothing to do with the KKK or race. To disregard the warnings signs of nut case extremists would be ridiculous. You have the right to say anything you like; you also can be held responsible for what you say.2 points

Making political comments on stage, in general or in song, is very common. I'm a fan of 60's and 70's classic rock, and I've seen and heard countless recordings where a great deal of time was spent on making political statements, via speech and song. If she/they walked on stage and began bashing Obama, most of you would likely be singing a different tune. Pun intended. While my and Natalie's views are polar opposites, I respect her right and courage to voice her opinion. I don't know her personally, but just like I couldn't bring myself to hate any of your for sharing opinions that differ from my own, I don't share the same level of disdain for her as many of you obviously do. Based on her many interviews I've seen and heard, I believe she is a good person, just a bit misguided. Ok, maybe a lot misguided.2 points

I'm a white, male Christian who believes in guns, God, and I believe wholeheartedly that no government can take away my rights, as they are not privileges given by that Government in the first place. On second thought, I listen to Rage Against the Machine almost daily, so I suppose I don't have any credibility when it comes to boycotting musicians who use their music to push a political agenda that I strongly disagree with. I'll justify it by saying that a lot of bad guys who RATM defend met their grisly end shortly after US military doorkicker types got hopped up on their music. Oh the irony.2 points

I have Allen West and Herman Cain on my FB feed. Their opinions on this are just as strong as mine; perhaps more so. It doesn't mean much to me either way though. The only difference between them and I are skin color and life experiences. It sucks that they either lose or gain credibility on a subject because of their skin color; it is one of the things about society that bugs the hell out of me. As in, Herman Cain condemns the actions "as a black man" in the eyes of most Americans, which we somehow prop up above the opinions of a white man on the subject. I get why that happens, it just bugs me that we do that. I'm pretty sure that when Herman Cain condemns a horrible murder it is because he simply recognizes that it is horrible; not because he is ashamed that he shares the same skin color. His skin color doesn't make him an expert any more than you or I. It does, however, cause him to lose credibility to certain personalities on the left who brand him as an Uncle Tom or race traitor, while it gives him credibility on the right as a black man taking a stand against racists of his own race. In a perfect world we would just see that he is a man, with certain beliefs that you either agree or disagree with. The reason we will never be there is because folks speak and think in generalities, and there is no better way to identify than what is most easily identifiable; skin color.2 points

I think you still misunderstand what I'm saying. The onus is not on black people to explain or condemn the actions of other black people. If I was a black person I probably wouldn't hold any stronger opinion about this crime than a white person would. So I guess I wouldn't say much other than these two POS's need to be executed. Now, if I were a black person and was asked what my opinion was "as a black person", I would make clear that the color of my skin doesn't automatically make me an expert on what another black person does. That presumption is kinda racist. If I was told by a white person or a black person that I needed to strongly condemn the actions or speak out against it simply because I was black I would call that very racist. Skin color doesn't mean you have to do anything or not do anything. We are all our own individuals.2 points

So now the President is considering military intervention options, because there is some indication that the Assad regime killed several hundred Syrian civilians with chemical weapons? If the logic goes that chemical weapons are a particularly effective means by which to kill large numbers of civilians, and therefore "we" have a duty to intervene to prevent said killing of large numbers of civilians, then why have we not done so before now? In other words, how is this one particular alleged chemical weapons attack worse than the months-long artillery bombardment of whole Syrian cities by the Assad regime? How is this one particular alleged chemical weapons attack worse than Assad's forces calling in attack aviation against mixed rebel and civilian targets for months? My point is that the Obama administration has been content watch Assad's forces kill utterly massive numbers of civilians for the past - oh, I don't know... two years or so. Ergo, it's absurd for O to draw some arbitrary line in the sand and say, "You can kill thousands of women and children with indirect fire, Assad, but by golly I will not countenance your forces accomplishing exactly the same thing with gas. When you use a CHEMICAL to kill them, then that's a whole different act!" No, it's not. Shifting gears a bit, other members have made some good points against intervention related to the senselessness of aiding nations or peoples who hate our Nation. I'll add to that line of thinking that interfering in the domestic affairs of a sovereign nation is almost never a legitimate means of conflict resolution. How do y'all think we would have reacted if, during the Bloody Kansas period of American history, Ottoman Turks had deployed an army into the United States because the Sultan couldn't ethically watch the American bloodshed?1 point

So, I'm walking around there today with the Caracal in a futile attempt to sell it. Today was why I decided to keep it. Literally, only ONE dealer even knew what it was. Now he has one of those always hot coffee makers. He drinks roughly 35-40 cups a day on average (and thats not an exaggeration) and it doesn't matter if its 105 and he is bailing hay or if its 10 below and we are blacksmithing. Sadly, I picked up the habit and drink 12-20 cups a day now. I still make cowboy coffee once a week on sat. night and anytime I go camping. As a note on cowboy coffee. A cup of cold water or a couple of egg shells will settle the grounds, and if its strong enough but to bitter then a small amount of wood ash will make it a little more mild. As far as surviving, I am constantly adapting and improving my plan, and believe that with my skill set and preps I honestly stand at least a decent chance of continuing life. I know lots of people that have had good luck with off brand tablets. Me personally, I stick with the iPad. It's user friendly, had good system support with upgrades when necessary. And I wouldn't hesitate to order a refurb from the apple store. I've know a few people to do so and all worked like brand new. The downfall is that apple is the most expensive tablet. I just dot have any personal experience with other brands so I stick with what I know.1 point
