This is the kind of men our President says is unfit for duty and is forcing them into early retirement I think that this Marine could make a good president...We need more of these guys...not less. 16 best quotes from Gen. James Mattis, who retired on 22 May 2013 after 41 years of service. BY: Washington Free Beacon Staff Gen. James Mattis, known to his troops as “Mad Dog Mattis,†is retiring after 41 years of military service. The Marine Corps Times is calling Mattis the “most revered Marine in a generation.†Mattis has been commander of the United States Central Command since 2010 and led the 1st Marine Division into Iraq in 2003. According to reports, President Barack Obama decided to force the Marine Corps legend out early because he rubbed civilian officials the wrong way, and forced them to answer tough questions regarding Iran. Mattis was an inspirational leader of men and his powerful words will go down in history. Here are some of the best words that the “Mad Dog†has had to offer: 1. “I don’t lose any sleep at night over the potential for failure. I cannot even spell the word.†2. “The first time you blow someone away is not an insignificant event. That said, there are some a$$holes in the world that just need to be shot.†3. “I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you screw with me, I will kill you all.†4. “Find the enemy that wants to end this experiment (in American democracy) and kill every one of them until they’re so sick of the killing that they leave us and our freedoms intact.†5. “Marines don’t know how to spell the word defeat.†6. “Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.†7. “The most important six inches on the battlefield is between your ears.†8. “You are part of the world’s most feared and trusted force. Engage your brain before you engage your weapon.†9. “There are hunters and there are victims. By your discipline, cunning, obedience and alertness, you will decide if you are a hunter or a victim.†10. “No war is over until the enemy says it’s over. We may think it over, we may declare it over, but in fact, the enemy gets a vote.†11. “There is nothing better than getting shot at and missed. It’s really great.†12. “You cannot allow any of your people to avoid the brutal facts. If they start living in a dream world, it’s going to be bad.†13. “You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn’t wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway. So it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them. Actually it’s quite fun to fight them, you know. It’s a hell of a hoot. It’s fun to shoot some people. I’ll be right up there with you. I like brawling.†14. “I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us. Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years.†15. “Demonstrate to the world there is ‘No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy’ than a U.S. Marine.†16. “Fight with a happy heart and strong spirit†And one final quote for returning Veterans: Anybody surprised Obama forced this guy to retire early? Oooorah!!!6 points

The good, the bad, and the ugly, wish we could see them all as good. “You get paid, pay your bills, and there’s your money. It’s gone,†Carlo told KTVT-TV. “I said, ‘it was either feed my kids or get my registration done.†The officer wrote a citation and handed it to Carlo, who couldn’t believe what he saw inside. “Opened it up and there’s a $100 bill. I broke down in my car, what else could I do,†Carlo said. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2012/12/14/texas-cop-writes-struggling-father-a-traffic-ticket-with-a-100-bill-wrapped-inside/4 points

Today the judge signed adoption papers for the three rug rats we've had in our home for the last year. My wife and I now have a 10 year old, 3 1/2 year old, 2 1/2 year old, and a 1 1/2 year old. My baby girl is now a big sister. It's finally over.4 points

This. It takes practice and training to have a solid grasp on defending yourself with a blade. I'd pick up a cheap folding knife, probably a single blade in the 2" range. Look at the rough rider series. Super cheap and decent little knives for the money. I carry a 3 blade case stockman everyday for work and I dont think the biggest blade is over 2". If you need a knife much bigger than that, you really need a fixed blade. And either keep it sharp or if your worried about him getting cut, then it needs to be completely ground dull. Like the edge is flat and incapable of cutting. A knife in between those two doesn't cut well so it requires excessive pressure which then leads to accidents and cuts. And a ground out edge won't cut anything. If you decide you want a fixed blade for him let me know. Ill make him up a little 2.5" fixed blade that would work well. Free of charge of course, cause every young man should have a good knife. Like this Tapatalk ate my spelling.3 points

None of the children were related to us. DCS dropped them off at 2am about a year and change ago. The only information we had was that they were siblings and the little girl was blind. After we found out their back story we knew they were not leaving our home. Now I have a German wife one bio child and three Italian kids. Watching Discovery Channel on the anniversary of D-Day might get interesting.2 points

Ten four on that Tartanphantom! I'm not complaining, as a ride in the country is always relaxing to this ole country boy, that was raised on a farm, with game just out the back door. OK Corral would be worth the five bucks, if you only went out there and ate a sack lunch, and listened to the sounds from the woods. F...r...e...e...d...o...m! This my favorite of all the ranges I've been to. Hope it lasts forever.2 points

If you wish, here's a link to the proposed changes..... you can also place your comments - (look on right side of page). If you have a constructive comment, by all means place it!! ... no BS stuff please as this will just hurt the cause. May not make any difference but you can at least voice your opinion. http://www.regulations.gov/#!documentDetail;D=ATF-2013-0001-0001 As far as what this will do to the pipeline if it goes effective, NO one can tell you that right now.. even the BATF. We're just going to have to ride it out. I have had a slew of folks, thinking they'll be grandfathered in, buying stuff on trusts these last few weeks .... possibly ... but it would not shock me either if they threw these all back and requested the additional artifacts. Keep in mind, it's taking months now for forms to even go pending. I'm telling folks to 'assume' the worse and that this will become the new norm... understand though even if, trusts will STILL be valuable tools for multi-ownership, probate streamlining, etc... If you're thinking about getting one just be sure you're ok with the possibility they may do nothing for you in regards to signoff, prints and photos and base your decision on the other fruits they afford. jcoosi, what cans did you get? I know it seems strange but I bet you'll enjoy the 22 can the most... It will give you the biggest WOW factor.... I STILL, after all these years, prefer shooting 22s suppressed. The other cans will be tools you find useful and enjoyable but that 22 is going to be the one you show off the most to others ;o) Welcome to the dark side! Forever will it be your destiny!2 points

What is one of the tenets of a police state? Massive amounts of surveillance. What is this program if not massive surveillance? I know this might not bother you as you come from the crowd that believes that if you have done nothing wrong, then you should have nothing to hide or fear. Initially this program will be benign. In fact, some good may come of it. However, as government grows, which it incessantly does, and becomes more and more involved in our lives, more than likely this program will expand beyond its original scope. Think of London with all of its video cameras through the city. I do not like the fact that the government will eventually have the capabilities to track everything we do on a day to day basis, just like I don't like the fact that the NSA captures massive amounts of metadata. It is just too much power for the government to have.1 point

I saw this first hand in Iraq. A friend's magazine dropped into a pool of blood. Luckily it was the blood from a cow we were watching being butchered in the middle of a sidewalk in a busy transportation depot about 9 in the morning. That is a tale for another day though. I routinely loaded ~5 tracers at the bottom of my mags.1 point

I doubt it matters if we "like it" or not...we are living in a technological revolution that is and will have just as profound an effect on this country and the world as the industrial revolution or the renaissance did...there is NO stopping it. If you tried to name just the parts of our lives that have changed because of technology in the past decade I doubt you could remember them all...remember "flip phones", Compact Disks, dial-up modems, AOL, or cars without more CPUs than the Space Shuttle? Kids born in 2000 and later have no idea what a "record" is or that the interned hasn't always existed or that we can't just talk to our phone or our car and have it do something for us. Do any of you have young children or grandchildren that have walked up to your TV and tried to change the channel by swiping the screen because they think it's just a big iPad and a "remote control' is a foreign object to them? Twenty years ago a futurists said that we had seen more technological changes in the past 50 years than in ALL OF HUMAN HISTORY up to that point but we haven't seen anything yet. The truth is, technology is neither good or bad...moral or immoral...fair nor unfair...it just is. Facial recognition can be used to spot a known terrorist that DHS thinks is in the process of planting a bomb at a public event or it can be used to spot a "dangerous" patriot who doesn't trust the government and has spoken out about it. We can try to insulate ourselves from it...avoid it...but the truth is that technology has done a lot of good for us. It makes our lives easier; in some cases a lot easire and it some cases, it's the only reason we haven't yet taken that big dirt nap. What really matters when it comes to technology is what we do with it. Most of us don't trust "Homeland Security" because we tend to not trust anything the "government" does...I understand that...but I don't think it makes any difference whether we like it or not. The best we can hope for is to try to put good people into power who ARE moral and good and fair.1 point

I can honestly say that in 5 years the only people I saw not get their mags seated were normally female Marines. And I coached on the range on and off for 4 years. Like I said, just my opinion. I'll take the take the 2 extra rounds and just make sure my mags are seated right. Tapatalk ate my spelling.1 point

TV cop shows have been preparing us for this all along. They give the impression that this is just good police work. After this is installed you can be located and identified anywhere there is video cam (traffic cams, ATMs, etc. The excuse is that this helps them get "Bad Guys" but they will be determining who the Bad Guys are. (Maybe wrong political affiliation, wrong religion or wrong color?) I'm for helping the LEAs as much as the next guy, but this is getting into "Big Brother!"1 point

A more appropriate and heartfelt gesture would be to do it like the rest of the country's working class do... take up a donation from co-workers out of their own pockets. I could respect seeing congressmen chipping in from their own wallets, but reaching into mine: unacceptable.1 point

Had to go get my 6 month scan in Murfreesboro today, so I took a sick day and enjoyed the rest of the day. Ran out to check out my stand, all 50 pounds of corn GONE! Ground all tore up even where I hadn't had corn put out. Lots of tracks in and out of the area, no rubs, but I know there are bucks in the area from my friends game cam 100 yards from my stand. Picked up a heavier duty bow hanger at Academy on the way out and put it up, and moved the old one to the other side of the tree for my backpack to hang on. Boys, we are a week away!!!!  :rock:1 point

Designed by a Tennesseean, made in Tennessee, a unique creation that is instantly recognizable; sounds like a Barrett .50 to me!1 point

I also like the idea of some type of break action, single shot shotgun. Simple, inexpensive but effective, solid, dependable and works for folks ranging from 'coon hunters to rabbit hunters to squirrel hunters to bird hunters to deer hunters to the aforementioned granny if she hears a bump in the night. I think that even many members of Tennessee's version of the 'anti-gun' crowd probably have one or two of these around their home to use for HD, etc. Not everyone can own a Barrett - pretty much anyone who wants one and isn't a felon could probably own a single barrel shotgun.1 point

There will be more folks unemployed then employed by years end or there will be more part time people working then ever before in this country's history...........jmho I heard on Fox today that many large corporations are cutting everyone's hours back and many of them hiring to begin second and third shift all with part time people. The Oil companies are all cutting back and going to the part time programs so no telling what is going to happen to fuel costs. All I can say is the man promised change and he is keeping his word. I hope everyone that voted for him is happy. That is all I'm going to say on this cause any more and I will get booted off the site.1 point

If I were you, I would get a hold of a Boy Scout Scout Master Guide and use that to teach him. A Scout earning his "Tot'en Chip", Is time tested and proven. Bars of soap are excellent media to learn to carve and whittle on. Both of you should sit down and carve and whittle together. Bring a box of band-aids to the party. It's not a matter of "if", but "when". And when it happens, don't make a big deal about it. It will be a big deal in his life, when he gets his first knife. Make it special!1 point

When Saving Private Ryan was in the theaters I saw it 4 times, I took my dad to see it once, he was in the 101st in ww2. He didn't jump in on d-day but entered France later, was wounded in Bastogn New Years day in 45. He said "parts of the movie" were the most realistic scenes he had ever seen in a movie and many scenes were a little un-realistic.The scene where Hanks was standing in the door of the church at night looking out at the massive artillary barrage was the most realistic scene in the movie. He was wounded in the back by artillary scraptnal but it didn't get to any organs so he re-joined his company a few weeks later and pushed through Germany, the movie didn't upset him any. As far as an athority on the subject he was well qualified.1 point
