Hey FHG! I'm 10 minutes up the road from ya.. ping me and we'll discuss some options. I'd like to hear what all you're planning to do with it ultimately in regards to add-ons... These rifles are not bad for entry level but it's going to be next to impossible to recoupe anything from selling any parts you take off (no one really wants them in the market). So, as others stated, you may be better building you one from the ground up depending on the level of customization you're looking for. But, as an example, I can/could get you that exact rifle if you still want it INCLUDING TN tax, shipping and the TBI reg fee cheaper than CTD ....assuming they're going to charge ya $15-$20 shipping and then a dealer here will charge $25-$30 to transfer it in. There's others I'd personally recommend but want to speak with you first to be sure I know where you'd like to be... Thanks, be more than happy to talk with you if you had a moment and/or if you do find something handle the transfer into TN.5 points

You know, I'm pretty simple when it comes to matters like this thread. I default back to the old saw that if you can't say something nice, you probably shouldn't start a thread about it on TGO. Or something like that. Regardless... Caster... really??? Shameful. This thread is done.5 points

Fine rifle, crappy seller. Send some bucks to just about anyone in the industry over CTD IMO.4 points

That Public Chapter was shoved down the throat of the People by Big Business and their bought and paid for lackeys. It was in fact a sop to the likes of Fed Ex and Bridgestone. Notice that those who actively seek Constitutional Carry and are not just offering up chin music are working to get that travesty changed. Anyone with one eye and half the sense of a six month old mule knows that last year's "Parking Lot" bill was not a step forward, but rather a sell out to the Chamber.3 points

But remember, "THIS time it's important. NEXT time you can vote your concience, THIS time there's too much on the line." EVERY election matters and they all have consequences. The "lesser of two evils" plays right into the hands of the sh;tbag politicians who couldn't really care about politics one way or the next. Like many others, my mission for the next cycle is to send as many of their butts packing for home as possible, republican, democrat, whatever. If they've already "served" they're going home. The cycle of crap has to stop somewhere.3 points

Here's an easy way to never be taken by whiz-bang, new-and-improved, tacticool BS. Go to m4carbine.net. Hang out a while and read. Pretty soon you'll find out what "serious operators" use on their "serious operator carbines". Studiously avoid the brand-new "battle" devices that all the "operators" are attaching to their Colt 6920s. Save money.2 points

Get something meaningful past Jim Coley in Judiciary sub, then the Caucus has to agree that the Chamber is not being dictated to, and finally work it out of Calender and Rules under Madam Speaker's baleful eye, (with her mentors Lamar and Bill in concurrence), what could go wrong...2 points

Dude, why are you lying? I know from everything that I have read on the Interwebz that every time someone OCs, every bad guy within a 150 mile radius is drawn to that location like moths to a fire and they take his weapon from him and kill him, his family, his friends, his Facebook friends, and everyone that signed his 8th grade yearbook. :stir:2 points

+1! My recommendation is getting on the Palmetto State Armory mailing list and watch for their best daily deal. You can get complete kits for an awesome deal on quality parts. Downside is a they are a bit slow BUT that's probly how they keep prices down.2 points

I'm with you, buddy. Been to NYC, Chicago, and LA. There was nothing there that made me want to return. This summer I'm taking the wife AND our tourist greenbacks to see the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, and Bryce Canyon. She wants to go to NYC some day, so I suggested she get a girl trip going with some of her friends. I won't ever go back as long as nutjobs like Cuomo and de Blasio are running the show up there.2 points

It ain't 'hate'. It's an informed opinion based on LOTS of reported problems with Taurus quality, durability and lack of customer service. However, if a Taurus is what peels yer banana, then go for it! But the no whining rule goes into effect. :D2 points

LOL, you guys bring me much joy and happiness. Yes Dave, I think a new thread should be started. :-) So hunting wise, I am really only working on setting up some turkey blinds in pre-scouted spots. Last year the turkeys were NOT following their usual spring patterns. The reason for this was the cool temperatures. This made it nearly impossible to hunt them the traditional spring way by calling them in. They were nearly silent! The people who were successful in hunting turkeys had them patterned. They knew where they would be and at what time and set up in front of them. Thats what I plan on doing this year especially if they are silent like they were last year. Deer hunting wise...I still need to clean my rifle!! I am so bad about that. As it gets closer to spring, we will be prepping our fields to plant a variety of things. Soybeans, Cowpeas, Corn and maybe a sunflower field for dove. So I am pretty excited! I also want to hang a few new stands in some new locations. One thing I want to do this off season is to expand my effective range. I want to set up targets at distances of 150 yards out to 300 yards or so and see if I can make ethical shots. If I can, great, I just expanded my effective range. If I cant, then I need to figure out whats wrong, but I will know how far I can shoot before I start making low probability shots. One thing I have noticed is how the deer all of a sudden start showing back up now that the season is over! haha, sneaky SOB's2 points

I haven't seen a fox while predator hunting since last year in LBL. Coyote and bobcat seem to be a regular sighting while I've been working a distress call the last few weeks, but more coyotes than bobcats for sure. Speaking of coyotes, mating season is just around the corner and they are slowly starting to respond to female calls now. Can't wait till they come running in in groups of 2+ to find the end of an AR or 3 1/2 turkey load headed their way!2 points

Well, hope everyone who doesn't believe in the "lesser of two evils" doesn't mind if the Dems have majority in both chambers, plus the presidency. Oh, yeah, and SCOTUS being waayyy left for the next 25 years minimum. If you don't think that's makes any "difference", there's no argument that will sway you, I reckon. - OS2 points

Fascism is alive and well in the world and in the United States. It is not enough for a fascist to simply disagree; for the fascist, those they disagree with must be silenced...must not be allowed to have their opinion or share their opinion and in the extreme, must not be allowed to exist. History is replete with examples of where the path of "you can't think that" leads and I'm a afraid that this country my be on that very same path.2 points

An issue that we as a group, (or at least most of us) have wanted to see taken on since the bad jog the legislature did when they first put the original bill out. SB1496 / HB1407 Sen. Stacey Campfield / Rep. Tilman Goins State Summary - As introduced, permits a person with a handgun carry permit to carry a firearm in any state, county or municipal park or other recreation area; deletes provisions allowing local governments to prohibit carrying in parks by resolution or ordinance. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13. On its face appears to be the right stuff. Do not know Rep. Goins, but from what I have ascertained he has the right stuff too. An individual I have a lot of respect for says he is a true Patriot. Hope to meet him in the next few weeks and express my gratitude.2 points

Come and join us for our first match of the year. We have six stages for you, 165 rounds and classifier 13-04. Don't forget registration at 9 am-10:00am at the hotel lobby. With shooters meeting at the bays shortly there after. And remember the Hotel restaurant serves a great breakfast and lunch. See you at the Range,1 point

If they came out with 9mm, then no one would buy this 380. So the victims of this great marketing campaign will buy this gun first, and will highly likely buy the 9mm when it comes out too. However, if they came out with just the 9mm first, then very little marketing opportunity to buy the 380. Companies are smarter than you think. At least this is what this East TN hollar boy thinks.1 point

The problem with crappy choices at the poll is that it's a tough choice and we don't like tough choices. I suggest that it takes a bigger man to hold his nose and vote for the lesser of 2 evils than it does to stay home. Sometimes when you jump into a fight you have to choose between getting cut and getting shot. The GOP isn't going to back more conservative candidates in the primaries because a bunch of people stayed home in the last general election. They are already 100% convinced they need to go after the middle instead of the extremes. If the middle finds Alexander palatable, but thinks Carr is too conservative, WE STILL LOSE THE ELECTION. Alexander isn't a RINO anymore, he's a mainstream Republican. The party has changed that much. The only way to avoid casting a vote for a Republican you don't like is to make sure they don't win the primary. The country didn't prove me wrong in 2012, Romney won the primary. The more conservative candidates were too principled to step aside and leave ONE conservative to duke it out with Romney, so he ran away with it. Then we tried to show the GOP by staying home and now we have 4 more years of hell. I guess we showed them, huh?1 point

I have placed one order and I was not charged tax either. I was going to keep my mouth shut about it.1 point

No, you don't. It's legally a pistol, not a rifle. However, that also means that you can't put a butt stock on it as you are then turning it into an SBR. That's when tax stamps and permits and more paperwork come in.1 point

Hey guys, even if you think legislation like this will never pass or that it might seem like a waste of time, you need to reconsider. The more time we spend pushing for what we want and getting any small victories along the way, the better. Why? Small victories accumulate to larger ones. Also, the more we keep these politicians busy voting on our issues, the less they have time to spend on the left-wing's issues. You need to see things the "progressive" way much like the strategy of the left-wing. :up:1 point

I don't agree with everything MLK stood for, in fact, his economic ideas were downright ignorant and arguably pretty communist. That being said, this article from the Daily Kos (I know, I know, but trust me on this one) gives a great insight into what Dr. King's legacy really means to some folks. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/08/29/1011562/-Most-of-you-have-no-idea-what-Martin-Luther-King-actually-did1 point

Now that you say it, it is quite possible that our system combines multiple reports into one. There are so many systems now that it is becoming more and more complex. The last US implementation I did was back in 2006, so things could have changed as well. In the end, I think it's pretty safe to assume they can get the info on if you have an HCP. I agree with TMF about the firearms purchase records though. They aren't in NCIC after 24 hours, but I suspect the good old NSA knows what I have bought.1 point

In TN I believe they will know the moment they run your DL for info. As was said above and as I recommend; when stopped for any reason I hand over both if the officer wants to ask if I'm armed I'll inform him but I've had them not even ask. Further, if I do it every time I don't have to remember if I'm traveling in a "must inform" state!1 point

Lager... I'm a bit older than most here (....67...)... I wuz raised in the country here in East Tennessee where most of the inhabitants put a pistol in their pockets when they put their overalls or pants on just like you and i would put a pocket knife in ours... Everybody knew they were armed; no one saw the arm until it was needed... That is, in fact, my culture and heritage and im a product of that thinking... As to the "open carry" thing; i think it is a regionally cultural thing...Where ya have a "cultural melting pot" like metro nashville, knoxville, or any of the other larger metro areas in tennessee where ya have a place like UT and lots of outsiders mixing with the indigenous population; i think ya re swimmin against the tide trying to condition everybody to accept the "open carry" thing...It may be accepted in rural Texas, Arizona, Tennessee, Kentucky, or New Mexico; but not in "metro" melting pot areas; no matter the state...There is simply too much dilution of the indigenous population with outsiders and pilgrims from places that are afraid of guns.... I want to (...as im sure most everybody here does...) to be the best ambassador i can possibly be for people taking responsibility for their own safety and the safety of those in their care... I do that "missionary work" by being as winsome and honest as i can be and by speaking out for and supporting 2A rights without scaring those who im trying to convince to see things the way we see them.... We're all on the same side here...The difference in opinion is the issue of tactics and acceptability of the methods of convincing the UN-convinced or antis that our cause is just; and that, more than that, they should embrace that cause... Havin said all that; i happen to believe that in lots of places the open carry thing smacks of "in your face" exercise of rights; and no amount of lipstick smeared on that particular pig nor defending of those who choose to do those things will change my mind... The fact is that lots of people are afraid and edgy (...and for good reason, i think...) and they are scared of their neighbors and strangers; especially those toting guns openly who dont happen to be wearin a badge or a uniform...There are, of course, notable exceptions to this (...thank God...) and there are places where this aint a problem... The metro areas of tennessee, however are problem areas in my opinion... leroy1 point
