1.   The US Olympic hockey team just beat the Russians.  T.J. Oshie was asked by the press how he felt about being an American Hero.  His response;  "The heroes are the ones in camo.  That's not me".

 2. Myself and some other guys went out and sent some lead down range today. I had a ton of fun, and got to sight the M14 with the new scope, as well as play with all kinds of fun toys with a bunch of like minded guys. 3.   What "hate" are you speaking of?  No one that I'm aware of is living in the past thinking there will be some great repeat of the of that war.    The simple fact is there are still significant cultural differences between the South and the north.  I am one of those that lament the decreasing uniqueness and individuality of my culture.

 6. AWESOME day!!! Tons of fun, especially the all-steel stage! As is normal, I was clearly shown my own flaws today... tunnel vision (missed a threat completely) and general poor form/mechanics being the two biggies for me today. I can't think of a more fun way to discover that! I also learned that, while economical, cast lead is not the best choice for rapid fire in low-wind conditions! It was great to meet some fellow TGOers as well! My friend Mike had a blast, too. I'm hoping he'll join TGO soon. Thanks so much to the MCTS staff and members for all your work in creating a safe, friendly, and fun event. I hope to have some video ready of our rookie shoot in a few days. I'll post it up here when it's done. Thanks again!

 8. Not as far as northern liberal broadcasters are concerned. People like Chris Matthews are always talking smack about the "former confederate" states.

 9. For what it's worth, I talked with a Winchester ammo rep yesterday at the National Wild Turkey Federation convention in Nashville. As an outdoor writer, I had my media badge on and went in early yesterday morning, so I was able to find a rep at the Winchester booth that had a few free minutes to talk. Of course my first question ... when are you going to catch up with the .22s? Without hestitation, he said "two years." Really? "Yep."   He based it on the outcome of dealer orders at the Shot Show. He did say Winchester (and the rest) has kicked up production to record levels, and have no intention of slowing down for a long time.   His other opinions of that conversation were...no government conspiracy, but plenty of 'civilian' rumor, enough to cause panic buying like they've never seen. I asked if the industry took a hit of .22 firearm sales slowing due to the rimfire availability. He said "not at all."   He finished with a smile and said, "business is good."   No doubt!

 10. In the words of the late, great southerner, Lewis Grizzard, "come on down here. Eat our food, breathe our air, marry our women. There's just one thing we ask of you. Don't tell us how you used to do it back in Cleveland. We don't care. Cleveland's so great - Delta's ready when you are. We'll have you back there by 6:00 this evening if that's where you want to be."

 12. I don't post a lot, under 1,000 in 6 years, but even I have to ask: WTF are you talking about? Labor Unions are most certainly a "Northern" thing for the most part. And if there is no North or South, how the hell does my compass work?

 15. I predict this will go away like it never happened and the law will quietly be repealed while no one is watchin.... I lifted this from the Blaze article:   Remember this, no government can govern without the consent of the governed... I see this as a hopeful sign that i didn't think was out there... Even in a ratty, deep blue worker's paradise like Connecticut (...whose wealth was largely built on the firearms industry...) there are folks who have a backbone and are sendin a message... A similar thing is goin on in New York state with sheriffs and chief's of police openly sayin that they will not enforce the SAFE act...   I say; good for them... Its about time... leroy the refuseniks supporter

 20. I don’t think they will wait. I think the Officers that participate will just seize them and make arrests as they find them. Vehicle stops, family fights, burglaries, etc. They way to stop this would be if the Police Officers refused. The problem is that when they refuse no one (the legislators) will ever know.

 24. Thank you everyone, it was a fun day with the wife and we had a very good time at the gunshow. Parking was only $5.00 and our entrance cost us $8.00 each. Now to the good stuff! About halfway down the first aisle was a large shelving unit filled with powder but unfortunately not the variants I was looking for. Very fortunate though was the large selection of primers and especially the big crate of 9mm fmj bullets. As I was tallying up everything I wanted I noticed a young lady working feverishly to help as many folks as she could. As she hurried by I quietly said, "Are you Samantha?" She locked up like a bird dog on point and turned to find out how I knew her. I explained that she came highly recommended on the TGO forum and I was a member. Suddenly for just a few moments, my wife and I became the most important people at the show! Between the great deals we got and the personal and friendly help from Sam, you can be sure this will not be our last transaction with these great folks. Thank you, Sam. I look forward to loading my 9mm's. If you're looking for reloading components, then like most others here on the TGO I recommend you check these folks out. You'll be pleased.

 25. A little while ago I learned that the stove makes a pretty good unintentional beard trimmer. I had a quick kid toy repair to do in the garage. It was a little chilly and my stove was sitting there so I thought I'd fire it up. Apparently I got a little too close to the flame. The damage was minor but if you think burned hair smells bad from a distance, it's worse when it's right under your nose.

 27. Well, I was at sea for many years, and when I first joined TGO.  Had a slight medical issue a couple years ago - well, three years ago now - with my ticker not keeping good time.  That ended my seafaring.  Can't change my user name, though.   Being beached kinda sux.     OTOH, and not referring to the vast majority of my friends here on TGO, I sometimes feel (really feel) the expression 'sea of fools' is more than an expression.  I can even show it to you on a map - looks strangely like the electoral map.

 28. Find a drill bit the same size or slightly smaller. Place the cutting end on the roll pin and smack the other end with a hammer. Make sure you are wearing glasses because 5 out of 10 times the drill bit will break. If it does break then you continue to use it. You might have to use pliers to hold it to keep from smashing your fingers.

 37. If you are on a horse in the Tennessee back woods, I envy you! I would get a Ruger Vaquero in .357 magnum and a nice western leather rig from Old El Paso Saddlery and match it up with a Henry Rifle of the same caliber.  I don't know how the 22LR became synonymous with a trail gun. I think it must be to make it sound cool. I would go with the .357 and chamber it with .357 but you can always opt for 38 special.
While i didnt find any 18yr, i did find this "discovery pack" of the 10yr, it includes 3 50ml bottles of their Lasanta, Quinta Ruban, and Nectar d'Or offerings. While i was really looking for the 18yr, it works out because I was wanting to try their Nectar anyways. Cheers!
An old nuclear submariner buddy of mine convinced me that if you open a bottle of scotch you must finish the bottle. Wow, did we have fun that night.

 43. A copperhead bite my boot so I backed away. He raced toward me and struck at my feet again so I retreated further. He raced at me again and I stomped on his head. That was the second time I had a snake advance toward me even after I changed direction. First time was a cotton month in a creek while swimming. You can say they don't chase humans but I've experienced different.

 48. Or moving to places like Tennessee because we are a lot cheaper than Canada. Problem is they are true liberals. They only want to be conservatives when it comes to certain things, everything else they would support. Then after they have instilled the agenda here and it again becomes too liberal for them they move onto another state to ruin them.   They supported the liberal agenda until THEIR government struck a nerve and they decided to move. So when they come here they might want some firearm freedoms but they also want all the social programs and other liberal benefits that they have lived with and supported for the last 3 decades.   We are seeing it now with a lot of liberals moving here because their home state became too liberal but they want to turn Tennessee into the utopia that was their home state right before their leaders went too far in their home state. It is easier for them to move here than to fight for their own state. Then when things get too bad here they leave us to fight the battle they started.   Personally I would not be against an immigration system for our state. You cannot become a resident of Tennessee unless you meet certain requirements. If you get caught living here without it you get shipped off, in the middle of the night, to your previous state of residency. And even after you are permitted residency you cannot vote in state or local elections for 7 years. Not sure what the requirements would be but one would be that you must pay taxes, either income or property, to be allowed to become a Tennessean.
