  1. from myself and most anyone who is a father I find this thread in very poor taste.   If I was the girls father and saw this thread I'd be looking to have a talk with you.

  3. I rented a hotel room for the "after events" of my senior prom and we each told our parents we were going to a chaperoned after party and sleeping there. Our parents weren't stupid, but ya gotta give them the benefit of plausible deniability. It would be kinda weird to have dad parking us. Don't know if I would be able to- BOOBS! 4. I cannot imagine any girl's father being OK with this and if they are then they have issues themselves. I bet it isn't ok if the boy drove up to the house and told the girl's father "I am taking your daughter to a secluded place for some alone time" but now it is ok because the boy isn't the one driving?   Curious, who is renting the limo? The boy or the girl?   I know if I had a girl and anyone mentioned taking her for some "alone time" I would probably loose it.

  5. Thanks for posting this... I think the state of georgia has hit a home run shot with this one...I saw the knoxville local TV news this mornin; and they were whining about it too...   I think the "take away" from all this is that georgia has a pretty good share of single welfare mothers and the usual chorus of the "anti-violence" black movement (...which i find laughable; they need guns more than anybody to protect themselves from their own children and imagined "night riders"... Reference the florida study on self defense shootings...), along with the other children of the forest that are scared of guns and gun owners who are howling to high heaven... They have lost the battle in the legislature and now they are resorting to making the usual claims of "dodge city" and "blood in the streets" to console each other in their loss on this issue...   The fact is that lots of people everywhere are edgy and they are being proactive in protecting themselves and their loved ones from thugs, perverts, dope heads, and "stone cold killas"... I say that's a good thing....Way to go Georgia citizens, legislature, and governor.... Keep up the good work.... Maybe the Tennessee political class will take a lesson from this....   leroy

  6. I have been without a gun on me no more that 10 days since 2008. If I am leaving my property I ALWAYS have at least one gun on my person and another close by. Walking to the mailbox I sometimes have a gun with me but not always. Sitting in the house I ALWAYS have a gun close by as well. Was never really that worried about having guns close by in the house until someone tried to kill my wife and I in 2009. Now I can probably lay down a minute or two of return fire if need be.

  8.   As the father of 3 little girls, I couldn't agree more. If kids get themselves into situations by themselves its bad enough, but to have an adult looking to facilitate the situation, well that I have a real problem with.    They maybe 18, but they are still high school kids.  Just b/c something is legal, doesn't mean its appropriate.

  18. Come south, Ethridge/Summertown area. I do not know any specifically that deal in furniture, but I have seen chairs and stuff at a few of the places. There are a few stores, plus can drive the back roads and stop in at some of the home shops. There are a couple of lumber mills and some leather workers I have dealt with before. https://www.google.com/maps/search/amish+summertown+tn/@35.3863599,-87.3182121,12z/data=!4m5!2m4!3m3!1samish!2sSummertown,+TN!3s0x886339463dea98fb:0xb32a85d55ad35b8f

  19. What a bullsh$t "news" piece. Listed under "investigations" and run not as a news piece but as an op ed or pr release from the brady group. And complete with the angelic picture of a murdered black child to boot. Treacly and predictable and utterly despicable. http://m.ajc.com/news/news/probe-continues-into-grayson-high-students-slaying/nYBzL/ "Three of the victim’s teenage classmates, who were accused of being in a gang called the Young Wavy Goons, have been in custody since February. However, Gwinnett Police Detective Andrew Whaley testified Tuesday at a preliminary hearing that two other people have since been implicated in the shooting of Paul Sampleton. ..... Police say Sampleton was bound and killed in his kitchen on Dec. 19, just minutes after he arrived home following early release from school for the holidays. The classmates are accused of targeting him because they coveted his expensive basketball shoes and electronics. So far, only Larnell Sillah, 16, is charged with murder. The other two young men — Romaine Stewart, 18, and Achiel Morgan, 15 — are charged with armed robbery. Police say Stewart and Morgan helped plan the heist but did not participate in it. Burglary charges also are pending against Sillah and Romaine for a September 2012 break-in at a house in the 1100 block of Stony Point in Grayson, which is in the neighborhood where the two teens lived, prosecutors said. A Sig Sauer .45-caliber handgun — along with other handguns, shotguns and assault rifles — was among a dozen firearms stolen from the home." Turns out the gangbangers sold the sig to a police CI for $150.....

  20. Picked up a SightMark ultra shot to replace my junk Bushnell and since range time is rare right now I used one of those fake shells with a laser in it to try and get it close last night. I set it up and shot the dot on a piece of paper on a tree across the yard and turned on the sight and me and my son spent the next half a hour trying to figure out why we only seen one dot thru the sight. Because?? It was already on the dot and they were both red and the same size. Doh!

  25. It's absolutely nuthin' fancy! I wanted to build the most basic, cheap, light AR I could using the extra BCG from the TGO group buy. A few years ago I bought some poly lowers right before that last big gun control push... ya know... in case. I was poor, hence the poly vs aluminum lowers. AAAnywho, I had this stuff in a drawer under a mountain of PMAGS and when PSA ran a really good deal on their PTAC cheapie uppers I jumped on one. It took about 2.5 weeks to ship, got it today. The upper was minus BCG, CH, and rear sight. I WAS gunna buy the cheapest things I could find, but it seemed like all the cheap stuff was out of stock at every site. :yuck: Some of you may remember my shameless solicitation in the gear classifieds looking for these parts. I want to thank Ted S., Luke E, and TripleDigitRide for being SSOOOO generous with their time and parts bins! There were more who offered help as well, and I'm grateful for all of you. I had a goal of building an AR for $400, and it wouldn't have been possible without you. These guys are why TGO is so awesome... the community and willingness to help/share is simply unbelievable. (Side note, I've had a magazine for a .40 Sigma/SD listed in the Pay-It-Forward thread for weeks! Somebody claim it!) Only goof I made in execution here was not noticing that this is a heavy barrel upper, not the lightweight profile. :ugh: With the poly lower, it's a bit forward-heavy. Oh well. I'm alright with it for the price! I haven't shot it yet. Mebbe this weekend! :pleased: The only thing I really wanna change is the grip. I'm hoping to find a good deal on a Hogue rubber grip at the fun show in Mboro this weekend. Not much to look at, but here it is!

  26. I'm back for a little bit :o) OS has is correct, in the almost 30 years I've been dealing with this mess I've never seen the ATF go after someone for constructive possession unless they were just pure a-holes or you were already in trouble and the CP was just a tack on peripheral charge. Could they, yes. Will they kick your door down I seriously doubt it. Given you already have an AK to shoot, if it were me, I'd wait as long as you possibly could to start building. If you have all the parts and jigs and such I'd even wait for the form. It's the correct thing to do. Pinning the barrel is going to be a pita if you're just going to un pin it when approved. I personally like to headspace and drill for the barrel pin when things are assembled. AK wise, it's considered a receiver when the flat is bent. Trunion(s) in or not. Just keep that in mind if it matters to you. I wouldn't worry having a short barrel along with your built AK as long as you had a kit and a copy of the filed form 1 and the flat is still a flat. I know there are many here that hate the ATF but everyone I've met has generally been nice and down to earth and will respect you if you just respect them. But given what you've written here it personally wouldn't push the issue and would sit on things for a while. If you must shoot it, get the gas block, hand guard retainer and rear sight block on the barrel and then have someone pin it. I've made pilots before that slid into the barrel and sit on the edge of the compensator or shelf of the barrel. A barrel with a pinned comp can still be pressed into the trunion if done properly. Outside of that, paper forms are taking about a year to approve and efiled ones are over 6 months now. Just giving you some approximate timings if you happen to not know.

  27. Happy belated birthday! Looks like you got yourself a present from the past. I've been getting those lately too. I almost hope I don't uncover anymore AR magazines. I cleaned out the back seat of my car awhile back and found 3-4 boxes of buckshot and about 200 22lr. Also, since I know Hipower will be reading, I did finally figure out what that last 4473 was for, and no I didn't have to check receipts to cheat!

  40. The way I see it; if you committed a felony that is serious enough that your right to keep and bear arms is taken away forever then you ought to be locked up forever.  If your crime isn't serious enough to warrant a life sentence then your 2A rights should be fully restored once your sentence has been served!

  47. Yes TDR, rescue from a shelter is the way to go. I have another dog whose owner was going to have put down because she was moving and couldn't take the dog to her new place. My daughter just got a rescue about a month ago, Lab mix, beautiful dog. My girlfriend and I have placed two strays in the last couple of years to good homes. Yes Mike.357, he was a helluva dog, aggravating and bossy, but I loved him and gave him a good life. Yeah rugerla1, I let my other dog out to run in my fenced back yard a while ago and when she came in I got two treats out of the box, one for her and one for Max. She got both of them. Thank you all for the thoughts.  Bill Parks
