Well, I graduated sniper school yesterday. Had a blast, learned a lot, and happy it all went very well. The course was in Albuquerque, NM. Mark Dietz was the main instructor and my best bud Hugh Stewert was the other instructor. Stew is a fellow Sky Soldier and a co-worker with me overseas. This school was a POST certified school and allows me to get into Department of States sniper school for my work, which was a goal of mine. So, now I just need to wait for another DoS school to have a slot open. I've always wanted to do this, and finally got the chance, so I'm extremely happy I finally completed a long standing goal of mine. Here's a couple pictures from school.3 points

Hey if its paid its debt to society, is hard working and on track, I don't see what his criminal history has to do with anything. Even if your oven had been a total boy scout the hot pocket still wouldn't have been worth the wait.3 points

I think this is the same kind of thing as the Pilot/Flyin J thing... My guess is that the only thing that the Gaston Glock Austrian tribe may be guilty of is usin bad judgement in hiring sales executives in the good ole USA... The presumed malefactors named in the article ain't very Teutonic... Havin said all that; havin a bunch of salesmen (...whether "executive" or not; and none of them in our little TGO band of course....) being crooks ain't exactly new news anywhere... I'm gonna reserve judgement on the "...they're all in it together..." and "...it's the gospel truth..." thing and watch to see how this one falls out... While I'm speculating a bit; another thing or two to think about: .... Exactly who furnished the data and "evidence" that all this wuz happenin and why..? Could it be one rat rattin on another...? Could it be a firearms dealer or salesman in trouble with the IRS or ATF makin a deal...? Could it be a wild accusation that wuz jumped on by the Feds to smear a large gun manufacturer with the goal of tarring all gun manufacturers and sellers as "crooks"...? Remember, we gun owners and the Tea Party are equal to the KKK and Satan in their eyes, and they have engaged in a whole bunch of persecution by several of the aparatchiks of government.... Interestin to think about how this could come about... Why would anyone ever think that a bunch of political appointees in the rattiest Justice Department ever would do the right thing about anything...? They aint up to now... leroy3 points

 good job! Looks like you had fun at school, that's always a plus. If my school had big ol guns to shoot I might have enjoyed it more. Of course, if my job included getting shot at, I'd probably enjoy it considerably less. Thank you for being one of the few who do what you do. :USA:2 points

Today we graduated as class 64 of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. I am proud to have been part of this group. I own it all to my wife, who held down the house while I attended school for a year. I love you, Amy2 points

It never woke me up, but lightning got this tree in my back yard. Lightning is some powerful stuff. There were splintered pieces of wood all over our back yard. 1 point

Funny that the dogs didn't react to the snake before she ever got near it. Kasey will react to ta snake out in my yard long before I ever get close to it and start barking and running around it. Most dogs will react to them. It very well could have been a Copperhead as greg mentioned. i don't know how true this is or if it's and old wives tale but I have heard that you can tell if your near a Copperhead because you will smell a strong odor very similar to a cucumber or cucumber patch. Like I said don't know how true it is since my sense of smell was destroyed by napalm years ago..........Would like to know if anyone could verify it to be true or false.... :whistle:1 point

Protecting yourself from an armed assailant is a job, right? So my gun is a tool that sits in a toolbox on my belt until I need it. The tool you bought knowing you may need it but hope to never have to use it.1 point

Back years ago before things got all crazy and I was 12 years old I had a Paladin Holster outfit , Knights head and all and yep strapped to my leg. Had a Colt Single action 22lr with 4 3/4 inch barrel and bone grips. My buddy Dave had a Matt Dillon Holster system and yep tied down and he had a Rugar single action six 22lr with a 6 inch barrel and he was 13 and we went rabbit hunting with them and yea we were that good back then with tons of practice and 1000's of rounds. Hunting over slow trailing beagles the rabbits would always be 50 yards of more out ahead of the dogs and they would hop a few feet and stop and listen for the dogs to get closer before moving again. You heard the expression sitting ducks. Well we had sitting rabbits. Seldom missed and didn't have all the bird shot in the meat. Hunter with them for years until we got separated by my parents moving me south and Dave was going into the Navy. Dave still has his Rugar but when they burglarized my home in 1987 they got my Colt never to be seen again. They took the holster with it because it was in the holster where is stayed in my closet.1 point

Well I actually bought these few guns for family that had plans of getting HCP's and now they are going to put off getting them for a while so they don't want to pay for the guns now either so I have money invested and it's not my fault they have decided to put off getting them but they don't care because it is not their money tied up so I will sell these and when they get ready to take the tests they can shoot some of my guns to get the HCP"s and then go buy their own guns..................jmho1 point

Ok, so I looked through the pictures and the only poor muzzle discipline I saw was one of the group pictures had a guy with the muzzle pointed down on his shoe-which I think is careless, but the only person he could hurt would be himself. I think what you are seeing is people stacked up so with a quick glance it kinda looks like the muzzles are pointed at people. However, if you actually look at the depth of people, you notice that the muzzles are always pointing clear of people. Please don't spread fud around if you won't take the time to actually examine the pictures carefully. Honestly, I don't think it's helping our side by attacking these guys because it's just giving the antiguners more ammo. What they are doing is legal and they have so far done it in a safe manner (no negligent discharges, etc.) We should respect that and maybe not agree with them, but keep that private.1 point

If everything was the way "it should be", we would just keep a copy of the Bill Of Rights, 2nd Amendment in our wallet for our handgun carry permit. No expiration date, no renewal fees.1 point

For thinness go for the Shield , for long term shooting and reliability go for the Glock. I have both .1 point

No kidding. Most of us, if not all have seen these types before. They're the people who will ruin your day at the range with their idiotic behavior, and make you think about calling it a day early so you don't have to be around them. I look at these guys and all I have is contempt. They may be exercising their rights, but they're coming close on exercising to the point of injury. I doubt they understand that concept since they don't appear to exercise anything else, in any fashion, but I digress. Look at these photos from their own site. Simple things like muzzle awareness seem to be an abstract concept for more than a few of them. You think the media is spun up about them now? Wait until one of these window lickers has a negligent discharge in an area where kids are near. It's only a matter of time, IMO. And on a completely personal note...they obviously don't know jack about good guns & accessories. All I see in these pictures are below average firearms with hardware that was the first item that comes up when you sort results in a category on Cheaper Than Dirt by "Price: Lowest to Highest."1 point

Only thing guv'mint is concerned about is their "fair share" of revenue on the bribes, kickbacks and profit margins. They use antitrust, mail/wire fraud and the rest to make us feel good about how guv'mint investigates, prosecutes and enforces the law to protect us little people. Will they prosecute those who paid bribes and kickbacks if discovered some were guv'mint employees?1 point

Just got done listening to Hickok45 review, very nice. I also see one on GB for ~$550 free delivery, and Buds has them for about the same with free delivery. I am tempted, but I may wait until the 357Sig version is released. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyBfrf7iitA&list=UUvB3solmhqtgDeLpD-yTtfg1 point

Technically it's not Glock that's in trouble. It's the individuals named in the indictment, some of which worked for Glock. They are being charged for basically defrauding the public (and Glock) and pocketing the money through fake businesses. Hence the Laundering and wire fraud indictment.1 point
-
Not really sure actually. Glock is about the only one in the business that adamantly adheres to a strict MAP pricing structure. If Glock finds out that you are advertising their guns for less than what they publish as MAP they will cut you off in a heartbeat. This isn't a "You cant buy from the factory anymore." slap on the wrist, Glock goes so far as to blackball you from anything to do with the company. They tell distributors that soandso dealer cannot buy Glocks, and if that distrib still sells them to you, they get cut off too. They are pretty cutthroat about it. I'd imagine this particular instance has more to do with disguising cheaper LE firearms as commercial weapons on a larger scale. What that has to do with the gov is beyond me, it seems like more of a internal issue than a legal one tbh.1 point

The best way I've found to prepare a hot pocket is to take it out of the package and place it directly in the toilet. You cut out the middle man that way.1 point

I recently got this one from JGSales. It was a Corrections Dept. gun in California...looks new IMO. They still have a bunch, though all that are left are DAO. Apparently there are also currently a bunch of Smith revolvers of different flavors returned from Puerto Rico. Search the S&W forum for more info.1 point

Big fan of the cm9. Small, light, and comfortable to shoot. Trigger has smooth long double action feel.1 point

Is no one researching this, or even reading the posts before posting their tin foil panic prone opinions? It isn't 'open to anyone,' you still have to be a Comcast customer to use it, you have to log in with your Comcast credentials to access the internet. Anyone with a WiFi card can find a signal, whether it is encrypted or not, having a 'public' signal doesn't advertise your private WiFi, having WiFi period advertises you WiFi.1 point

She made the top fold/front page of today's Sunday edition Murfreesboro Daily News Journal! Huge photo of her with her Sig (lady pictured in the purple shirt), and a nice (albeit "rare") pro-firearms article in a Gannett paper... She's definitely a keeper-- never have to worry about getting "nagged" for buying a new gun or ammo... Guns are a family thing around here... and she's an absolute dead-eye with a pistol. She started a chapter of "The Well Armed Woman" in Murfreesboro back in January, and has been very pleased with her success. here's a link to the article: http://www.dnj.com/article/20140601/LIFESTYLE/306010029/Well-armed-women-More-females-receive-carry-permits-attend-classes-gun-safety Of course, the usual milktoast whiners are all in a tizzy in the comments section of the article. I laugh at them.1 point
