1. A woman walked into the kitchen to find her husband stalking around with a fly swater. "What are you doing?" She asked. "Hunting flies." he responded. "Oh! Are you killing any." She asked. "Yep, 3 males, 2 females, " he replied. Intrigued, she asked....."How can you tell them apart?" He responded, "3 were on a beer can, and 2 were on the phone."

  2. Customers. Come in; "I'm looking for a holster." "What kind of gun do you have?" "It's a ------------- (something NO ONE has ever heard of)." "Do you have it with you? No holster is gonna have that name; we'll have to find something close." "Nah, I didn't bring it." DO YOU GO SHOE SHOPPING WITHOUT YOUR FEET, YOU MORON????? :wall: :slapfight:

  5. Regardless of the issue they proclaim to be doing it for, I have absolutely no sympathy for "agitators" or "activists" who, in the name of a "cause", are purposely provocative when it's really done only for their own self-aggrandizement (or financial enrichment). The only reason I care at all about this case and about Voldemort at all is that it wastes my and your tax money every time a law enforcement officer or court has to deal with him. One of these days he is going to screw-up and either significantly break the law and face the consequences or he will be shot by a LEO or armed citizen who believe they have to protect themselves. "In-your-face" tactics are almost never appropriate and are seldom effective...more often than not such tactics as those employed by Voldemort and his ilk only serve to harm the very cause they claim to be supportive of.

  7. Just because I can, I won't (agitate) in public. I am also not a gold digger, which I believe this guy is. They may not be able to convict on a felony charge, but the financial damage, ruin, and reputation destruction was what the doctor ordered.

  9. One more thing I do is mark my ramrod with a small notch or marker where it comes out of the end of the barrel with a charge loaded. Just a visual and tactile check to be sure. Sometimes if I don't get a shot that day, and I'm headed back out in the next morning, I'll leave it loaded and just pull the cap. Just don't bring it into a warm house and then back out in the cold again. Condensation and such.

  10. I have no sympathy for an agitator asking for it, but.... If this guy has a history of anything, it has been carry weapons around and not killing people, over and over and over. If he's prooved he's a threat to anything, he's a threat to his own ambition and cause.

  11. There is a lot of things our Constitution provides for us but that does not mean we have to go around parading them to the world everyday just to draw attention to ourselves. As for me. when I am out in the public I want to be as invisible as possible and just take care of the business I have left my home to take care of and then I want to get back home and know I am in a safe place once again..............jmho

I've always thought she looked... weird. Kind of like an alien grey or something. My wife's family has been in the music biz for quite a long time now and the story in the industry is pretty much that she's proof that a lot of mommy and daddy's money can buy you fame if they play their cards right.

  13. Are you tired of ugly, dull edges? Or maybe you're sick of going to the gun shows with a sack full of knives to be sharpened at $5 or more dollars a piece. Maybe you just wanna be the envy of your friends with mirror polished, straight razor sharp, hair popping edges? I'm gonna show you how to take a mediocre edge to mirror polished and hair popping in just a few min. for about $20 worth of material. The first thing you need to do is run to walmart and pick up a few things. You will need: 220 grit sand paper (optional) 400 grit sand paper 600 or 800 grit sand paper Mothers aluminum polish Mouse pad Super glue Cedar clothes hangers Rubber bands My total on this was $20.73 at Walmart. You can do it cheaper if you have some or all of this stuff in the shop. So gather your materials The first step is to super glue the mouse pad to the cedar coat hanger board, material side down, rubber side up. Any good flat board of appropriate size will work. Then trim to size. Now add your 220/400 grit sand paper and secure with rubber bands. It is easier if you trim it to fit, but you don't have too. Use 220 if you are reprofiling a very bad edge, or 400 if the edge is already in decent shape. These are the edges we are starting with. The bowie is already belt sanded to 320 grit. The case is my work knife and hasn't been sharpened in 2 months Now, with a draw stroke motion, drag the knife edge across the sand paper. You will need to find what angle and pressure works for you. I use a low angle and moderate pressure for mine. I draw mine 45 strokes per side. This gives me a count so my edge stays even. You can color the edge with a sharpie to make sure you hit the whole edge when you first start to help you find your perfect angle and pressure. Added by Broomhead BTW, if you use wet/dry sand paper, add some type of oil to it, I use 3-in-1. It'll create a slurry which will, A. Keep the paper from clogging up so fast by floating the metal shavings, B. Increase the effectiveness of your work by reusing the released grit, C. Make your strokes smoother for fewer errant scratch marks before continuing on to the next higher grit, and D. Keep your blade oiled. When the oil starts to get too thick, wipe the blade and add a little more oil. If the paper seems to stop cutting, replace it and add more oil. I doubt you'll need to do either for a knife or two, but you might need to if you're doing a lot.

Also, gently wipe your blade with a paper towel, shop rag, etc, before moving onto the next higher grit so you won't scratch your nicely sanded blade halfway through that higher grit and have to redo your hard work. Next swap out for the 600 or 800 grit sand paper and do the same thing. A 600 will have a more aggressive bite while 800 will make a cleaner slice. Another 45 strokes and you should have a sharp workable edge. But its still not to the standards we are looking for. My phone died so I dont have pictures of this edge. Now if you are like me, you may not have an appropriate piece of leather. If you do, use that for the next step. If not, use the box your sand paper came in. Trim it to fit the mouse board and mount it with the rubber bands undied/un colored side up. Add a finger full of the mothers in streaks. Now strop with light to moderate pressure. I use 30 strokes per side. This will make a mirror polished hair popping edge. Now test out your edge and enjoy the results. I hope you have all enjoyed and learned something from this little tidbit of info. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I would love to see some comments if this has helped you out, and I'll be happy to try out and add any suggestions you might have to the write up.

  14. My #2 son turns 9 next week. He loves airplanes, and we have been on few flights using commercial aircraft. However, I thought about taking him on a local flight with one of those small aircraft, so he could see the surrounding area. Are there programs or other ways where someone can take a father and son on maybe an flight from a hometown airport for maybe 30 min to an hour? Not looking for volunteers, but programs. I live in Monroe County, which has a small airport in Madisonville, but what about other places. Is there such a program? Or is it truly you have to know someone willing to take you along for a joy ride?

  16. Oh, and if you coat the bore with bore butter (or similar) for protection; before you load it to shoot, you'll need to swab & clean the barrel out with a couple of alcohol soaked patches. I use 91% rubbing alcohol myself, as it evaporates in a couple of seconds. If you don't you'll contaminate the powder & have a heck of a job getting it lit.

  21. Airplane guys have a soft spot in their hearts for folks that show an interest in flying, or learning to fly. If you have a municipal airport close by, let your interest be known to some of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) guys, and chances are that they can hook you up with someone that will take you guys up in their personal plane. I've been a pilot for most of my adult life, and have owned my own aircraft for years now, and have given many rides to interested people. You and your son just need to spend a little time hanging out at a local airport, and make some acquaintances. a good person to start off with, is the person behind the counter. No self respecting pilot, can resist offering a free ride to a kid hanging on the airport fence! Good luck, and let us know about it. Trust me...it's nothing like a commercial flight in an airliner, or even a corporate jet.

  22. Little Shields are amazing for how well they handle powerful rounds. I am a huge fan of snubbies but the ever so popular Airweights are terrible to shoot. A 20oz 60/649/640 in 38spl weighs only a deglible amount more but is a dream to shoot. I have completely cleaned my collection of Airweight j frames. I do have a LCR and a 16 oz CA Undercover that is actually smaller than a j frame though.

  26. The airshow is a great idea. Rides in vintage airplanes are always a blast. Another thing I would suggest is to find a local flight instructor/ flight school that can take you and your son on a "Discovery Flight". I still have a Flight Instructor Certificate myself, and I instructed when I was building time for the airlines but haven't flown a small plane in a long time otherwise I could more help. A discovery flight is just an introduction to learning to fly airplanes. It is usually 30min but could be longer if you wish. It would give you and your son an opportunity to not just ride in the back of a small plane but to feel the controls and learn some basics. If your son (or you) ever wanted more, you would have a good resource for the future. The right instructor should not make this flight too technical since your son is young but rather make it a fun and casual flight. I started my first lessons when I was 15 though, so beware the "bug" bites at an early age. Lol You guys will have a good time getting up in the air. You just need to find the right local flight instructor with experience and good personality. Have fun! Here are a couple of links that might point you in the right direction. 27. the little 9s are also snappy. Whether the will hurt you is subjective, no one can say, but they also have a sting. Grip size and width is part of it ... some guns focus the entire recoil (remember that equal and opposite thing from physics??) into a very small area. The smaller the area, the more force on that small bit of skin. So replacing the grips can be a huge help, if possible. But if you put massive grips on it, you lose the nice easy to conceal factor somewhat. Here is my novel idea. Why not shoot someone else's lc9 before you buy one? I carry the sig 938 and my hand is stinging and ready to quit after a full box of 50. I usually just practice with a couple of mags thru it and quit --- its not a range gun, after all, nor do I expect the little thing to be the ultimate zombie slayer so scenarios with 20 opponents are not too important to me with that pistol. so you have a couple of choices.... replace the grips... handload some lighter ammo (the 38 S&W has done in plenty of victims, you can drop down a fair amount if you need to and still have a workable round) .... replace the gun... I think, due to your trigger finger pain, you will need to replace the gun. Are your hands kinda large? The usual issue there is big hands get "trapped" and the trigger guard smacks you.

  28. I have a big ugly set of grips for a j-frame that distribute the recoil and make it easier to shoot.

  30. I have a 637 and it kicks like a mule. My girlfriend has the hammerless version, and doesn't hate shooting hers as much as i do mine. She does use reduced recoil loads. I tried a Hogue grip on mine. It makes the gun lots more pleasant to shoot, but ruins it for carry. Currently, it's on the girlfriend's kitchen J frame, a Lady Smith. She doesn't carry that one.

  33. I've heard all kinds of complaints about seemingly everyone in Country music over the years. So-and-so is sounds like he's yodeling or good grief another cowboy song or dang, do they all have to be about somebody cheatin/running-off or that song's too twangy. Yet, the gold records keep on coming. There just ain't no way to please everyone at the same time. Nashville seems bent on attracting the younger crowd right now and Randy Travis and Roy Clark ain't gettin' er done. Nothing on the mainstream country stations holds a candle to Johnny Cash in my book, but I also like the new country and other music many would think a country fan wouldn't listen to like Beastie Boys, Dropkick Murphys, and Godsmack. If I only liked one sub-genre of one kind of music, I'd prolly be more angry if it changed.

  37. The proper response would have been, "I'm sorry, sir, I didn't see you." Nothing wrong with common courtesy, even when you're in the right. Or say nothing at all. Then there's no motorized batboy to contend with. As a rule, and especially when armed, never do anything to escalate even what appears to be a minor situation. Shelve your pride and be nice. When do you stop being nice? When your inner Dalton tells you it's time to stop being nice.

  38. Thanks for the update. Yes, we all have the right to parade around with long guns and tacticool attire, not sure that it means we should. By NOT parading around in such a fashion doesn't mean we will lose our right to do so. Legally purchasing so a firearm becomes your personal property, getting a HCP, communicating with elected servants and exercising your duty to vote for pro 2A representatives helps preserve our 2A rights.
