Where are our Memphis folks at? Here's a great opportunity to pile on Nashville in a way that's usually reserved for our neighbors to the west. And, in fact it is completely and totally deserved. Whereas Memphis can claim several redeeming qualities, I can't think of a single one for Antioch. Last person out of Antioch please turn out the lights.5 points

You may have already thought of this but it looks like you were set up to fall. Anti hunters or some one wants your spot. I have seen stand suports cut nearly in two knowing they would be used early before daylight. Take care out there. Joe W.4 points

Say it like it is, some states just blatantly and arrogantly betray the Constitution, ignore the very ideals America was built on. Most of these states were the first states to defy and rebel against the crown of England, the very first states to become the United States of America. Now these states that were governed once by patriots are now governed by traitors. Strong words? Not at all, it's the truth, it's time to start calling them what they are. What else would you call leaders who would dispose of the very document they swore an oath to follow and defend, totally ignore the very rights of the citizens this document affirmed and guaranteed just to write their own authoritarian laws to reflect their Un-American socialist ideals. Traitors, nothing more, nothing less.3 points

News quote:::: Fitzpatrick was arrested in May of 2013 by Columbia police for the aggravated robbery of a Cash Express store. According to Maury County Juvenile Court records, Fitzpatrick was found guilty of that charge. If this little fat SOB was found guilty of Felony Armed Robbery in 2013 why is he not in PRISON..........     :rant:2 points

Rifles are a different category, light and fast is relative at handgun velocities much like cars using HP to weight ratio we could do the same with bullets and lumping rifles in with handguns would be something like lumping in an ENZO Ferrari with a VW beetle, a Yugo, and a Dodge Omni they would all hurt if they ran into you at their "normal operating speed" but the splat from the Enzo ..... all effective enough to splatter a human It sucks we even as a species have to think about shot placement on a fellow human who has decided that visiting violence on us is somehow a"normal acceptable" practice :( But I am glad we have tools that if used properly will modify that behavior if it comes right down to it. Practice with your chosen pistol/ammo/holster setup, study your anatomy, study your situational awareness, have a plan with your loved ones so if they are nearby they know what they should/shouldn't do and light a candle that that time never comes that you need to use this knowledge, knowing that if you do you have done all you can to have a good outcome to an uncertain and unpredictable situation. I hope no one who reads this ever has to go to that dark place, some have peered through the door and some have walked in and came back, it isn't something that should be on your vacation list.2 points

+1. Some theaters across the country actually tried that a few years ago. It didn't last long. My local theater, which has finally gone digital, will actually stop the movie & put a "turn off you cell phones" message on the screen for 30 seconds if they see someone using one during the movie. If that doesn't work they come in & escort the cell phone user out of the theater. I've seen them do both at least once.2 points

I'm in the : placement, placement, placement with a proven reliable round category. The only "exotic" round wound I've seen was many years ago when Glaser Safety rounds came out...old flat point style in .38 or .357...not really sure. But the guy that was shot had a light jacket on, the shot was by an Officer at close range into the chest. The very superficial surface wound was darn nasty, the ribs were visible, but there wasn't any penetration into the chest cavity. Did it stop the aggressive action towards the officer? Yep...but only because the aggressor chose to stop. I stay with traditional rounds, like Gold Dot. Accurate shot placement into the correct place with deep enough penetration seems the best bet for me. No dissing your post HV, just an observation and an opinion. :2cents:2 points

I really don't have the words to express how I feel about this. It's just impossible to convey the feelings of disgust for such scum as walking meat-sacks like this are. I will refuse to use the term people/person, because that imbodies them with a form of reasoning and humanity they lack. At best...may they burn in Hell.2 points

Wow...I've had plenty of stuff stollen out at one of my properties. 3 nice red gates, 2 game cameras, 1 turkey hen and kicked off trespassers...but that...that right there...is ABSOLUTELY INFURIATING! I would be calling the Game Warden as soon as possible and let them know about it.1 point

First, thanks for posting this, I'm sure it has some valuable information for novice buyers of Mosin rifles. Having said that, I would offer a couple of observations of the author's assertions: 1. Buying a rifle with a good bore is typically a good idea, but doesn't always indicate how good it shoots. There are plenty of these old rifles with less than good bores that are excellent shooters, and not all mirror bores shoot well, ammo selection probably has more to do with accuracy than bore condition. There's absolutely nothing wrong with counterbored rifles, most of them shoot considerably better than the non-counterbored rifles, as crown problems are eliminated, and the armorers often selected rifles for counterboring from those with the best bores. 2. Looking for matching numbers is a complete waste of time unless you are very knowledgeable about these guns. Upon refurbing the rifles, parts were mixed and matched without regards to "matching" parts from the rifles they tore down, part of the refurbishing process was to grind old numbers off and stamp, or electropencil "matching" numbers on. Collectors can almost always spot minor differences between the fonts of the stamps, few non-collectors can. Virtually 100% of the rifles being sold today do not have matching numbers, regardless of the claims of the sellers. 3. Hex receivers are no better, stronger, accurate or reliable than round receivers. The change was made circa 1935-36 to make manufacturing cheaper and easier. Wartime barrels and receivers often have rough tool marks on the exterior, this makes no difference in the function of the rifle. 4. Headspace is essentially never an issue, these rifles were built to military standards with huge tolerances. There's nothing wrong with checking headspace, but most collectors and shooters who have a lot of experience with these report that they have never seen one with headspace problems. 5. Laminated stocks, markings, accessories, etc. have no bearing on function, if it's a shooter you want don't pay extra for any of that. If you find an imperial era dragoon rifle in original condition though, pm me at once!1 point

I've sold several houses in Antioch for people as a real estate agent. What still strikes me as funny is that the people who live there can't wait to sell and get out, and then there are buyers who can't wait to buy a house and move in!1 point

I'd like to, but that would be tacky. You have good people and trash living side by side all over the country now. There is almost nowhere to hide anymore and still have all of the well paying jobs and amenities that we've become accustomed to having at our disposal.1 point

That makes sense. The Blue Book is ordered like I mentioned but I already have one in hand because I looked on the book shelf at my parents and what do I see, Ball Blue Book! I'm not sure if any info has changed in it over the years but my mother's was purchased in the mid 90's As far as cleaning the jars goes, no longer than it would take to wipe down the rim of the jars I would think it to be foolish not to if it helps at all.1 point

Had a C3 for about 3 years now. Not a great lot of rounds thru it, but I can say it is the only 1911 style pistol I have that has not had an FTE since owning it.1 point

Not impressed. It's another case of "Solutions to nonexistent problems" Why these ammo companies constantly try to ice skate up hill is beyond me. High velocity low mass is garbage for close range self defense. Plain and simple truth, Holes kill stuff. Slow and heavy penetrate. It is beyond contestation that a heavy slow bullet will penetrate and penetrate well. 165g @ 1100+ fps will never penetrate like the traditional 230g bullet @ subsonic speeds. I don't even like the .45 acp cartridge but it is undeniable that it supremely proficient at putting holes in scumbags. Large holes bleed. Blood loss causes death. Increase the size and number of the holes; expedite the process.1 point

I think the only way to get a good deal on guns at a pawn shop is if you are a regular. A buddy of mines dad goes on a route once a week to multiple stores. They know him well and he has found some really great buys. He is looking for more collectible stuff most of the time. I think if you are Joe Schmoe just stopping in they probably aren't looking to deal as much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

As a Columbia resident, this hits home hard with me. I can't really express my feelings exactly. May God lay his hands on this young mans hurting family, and may the ones that killed him truly be punished as they should. The court system is not strong enough for them. Stay vigilant, my friends1 point

As far back as '04, I was amazed at the number of Japanese that flew in to the Bardstown Bourbon Festival! No telling the Japan market growth in the last 10 years! On that trip we toured the Buffalo Trace distillery. Our tour guide slipped us a couple of "Japanese Market Only" gold plated Blanton's stoppers. They must pay a heck of a premium to merit such fancy Blanton's stoppers! The value of gold since then may have stopped this Japan perk? Japan stopper on the right. Sure enjoy your posts Mike.357!1 point
