5. I would like to introduce everyone to the Music City (MCTS) Indoors. We will be adding the venue to www.mctsclub.com website next week. This is the first of three indoor matches under the MCTS umbrella. Our goal is to provide our shooters(customers) the best possible experience. While we realize that everyone cannot make it out to our outdoor facilities in Dickson, we want to provide another opportunity for consideration to your already busy schedules. Starting in December 2014, we will be having an indoor match in Gallatin, TN on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday night starting at 6PM. Registration will begin at 5:30pm and shooters' meeting at 5:45pm. Please watch our website, TN Competitive Shooters FB page, and the IDPA_Music City Tactical Shooters FB page.

6. I made the final cut today.  Then I cleaned up my mower and put it away for the winter.  It seems like it was a little later this year than in recent years.

7. Rather than do or have done any smithing on back of receiver, went with US Machine Gun buffer tube grip adapter with added folding adapter and KAK Super buffer tube. Very pleased over all. The adapter is marvelous, really locks in securely, as had cutout for screw base, not held just by two prongs like the SB-47 SIG brace, compensates well enough for the angle on rear of receiver too. The folding adapter is "okay", locks up nicely horizontally, but has play vertically. In fairness, this doesn't seem to translate to any less efficiency should you decide to misuse the brace by shouldering it. ;) Was also able to add an AR endplate for quick one or two-point sling attachment. For anyone thinking about using the SBX/KAK combo on AR or AK, be aware -- this tube (and the original one they still sell without the castle nut) was made specifically for the SB-15 brace. The SBX brace will NOT reach the retaining flange on the KAK super tube (or the original SB-15 KAK tube either), due to the brace being a bit shorter in the channel than the SB-15 and the fact that part of that length is also denied by the wall in the back of the tube channel, as it is not open all the way through like the SB-15. t will leave about a .7" gap. Which doesn't matter as to functionality, as the back wall in the SBX channel will prevent forward movement on any buffer tube. But I thought it would look a bit odd, so thought ahead and got the spacer kit also, added the short one just for continuity of the look. And tell ya the truth, the only reason I really cared about making it a folder was so it would continue to fit the nice case I had already been using for the pistol in native form. If that folding adapter ever gets so sloppy it's a downside, can always just toss it and go straight into the adapter with buffer tube without it. Will keep the longer KAK spacer just in case, as it will pretty much make up for the difference in length if I do. - OS

8. The Savage smokeless claimed two more this morning. Shot the spike and drug it to the 4 wheeler trail. Propped up on the bank to rest and 3 does come walking down the 4 wheeler trail. Only 2 got to leave. Had to shoot both left handed, which was something Ive never practiced before. 9. WTF? Massachusetts is the standard for handgun carry? I’m always amused that “I wish we had a gun law like....” never ends with one of the four states that recognize the 2nd amendment as a right.

15. I appreciate it but I do not do anything more than anyone else can. The reason why most people do not like to try something new is because a fear of failure. I embrace failure because I learn from every mistake and hopefully I never repeat a mistake more than 2-3 times. I guarantee the vast majority of the people on this board can do what I have done if they would just try. I do not believe I am more skilled than anyone else but I will say I do not have a fear of failure. As long as I can replace the part if I screw it up I will try and, yes, I have screwed up a lot of stuff along the way but with every screw up I learned something.

16.  My Niece is very liberal, tiny and lives in Nashville. She can't understand why anyone would want to carry a gun into a bar, or a grocery store or a movie theater or anywhere else. The lady in the video is pro-abortion, which I disagree with, but she makes sense and she does speak liberalese.      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=643M_Me6vdI

17. A couple months ago I bought a Sig 1911-22, fun little gun. I really like how it handled, I have not handled a 1911 since the ARMY changed to 9mm. I never liked the issued 1911 pistols because I never had one that was worth a damn. Well I handled a Ruger SR1911 CMD and it just felt so good that I got it, then a Taurus PT1911. The Taurus was a basic model but I then handled a Kimber Custom II, well ended up trading the Taurus in on the Kimber. I am usually a Glock guy but since proving up the Ruger and Kimber for carry I have been carrying and shooting them. I am in store for more 1911 style pistols? Jeez I hope so. Never thought I would go 1911.

18. In my youth I lived out of a tiny GMC cracker box cab over for about 15 months. I was a mover though, so always had space to keep brunt of my stuff in trailer. Sleeping right over the engine. Once went 48 days in the winter without ever cutting the engine off, too cold to be sure could get it restarted. Some of the best zzzs I ever got, laying over that deep rumbling vibration each night, was like being back in a living womb. :) - OS

21. I went this morning to Jon Graham's first ROG & Roll Bash at his shop. It turned out to be pretty successful as there were quite a few people that showed up today. Unfortunately, I already had other plans so I was only able to stay around an hour. It would have been nice to hang around and meet some new people, but I digress. While I was there I was able to pick up one of Jon's new Stubby GMT Razelcliffes. I am normally not a fan of little knives, but I think these are great. Anyway, enough of my rambling, here is the knife. This is how it looks prepimped. Some serious pimpage will come later. Enjoy. Next are some size comparison pictures between the GMT Razelcliffe and my pimped out GMT Razel.

24. What I find most interesting about the .22 "thing" is how some people act when they get within spitting distance of bulk ammo at big box retail prices. Almost like heroin addicts, with no regard for anyone but themselves.  Go fishing, shoot an arrow, get a pellet gun, get a shotgun or another hobby until this thing settles out.       What peeves me a might is that every time I look for reloading stuff for my .22 Hornet I find, "out of stock, no back order."  Good thing I have some friends who had stuff prior to the foolishness.   I still haven't picked up a decent pellet rifle, which would just about put any .22LR angst I have to bed.  I am spending my firearm hobby money on another non firearm hobby until the dust settles.  This is what the firearm industry should be afraid of, people getting turned off and meandering off to other pursuits.  Little regard for demand seems an odd way of looking out for the future of the industry.  Maybe all other facets of the industry are still going full out bringing in all sorts of cash, enough to say, "the heck with .22s."  Can anyone honestly suggest to someone that buying a .22 firearm at this time is a smart move?  Seems to me that a pellet rifle and a 5.56, along with centerfire pistols and maybe a pistol caliber carbine make a lot more sense.

27. I didn't see anything I wanted to shoot, but look what my old man had with him when he stopped by the house this morning! Good rack, but it's positively the largest, fattest Tennessee whitetail I've ever seen in person. I had no means to weigh it, but I feel certain it was very close to 200lbs dressed.

31. I got a Glock 35 three years ago and had plans to shoot lead bullets in it, so I put a KKM barrel in it  The factory barrel seemed to have quite a loose chamber, much looser than my 34.  This was a new gen 3 gun.  It seems that half the kBs are 40, and half of those are Glocks.  This could be due to the shear number of Glocks out there,  On the other hand, Glock chamber support (or lack of) gets knocked a lot, but there are many makes that lack chamber support.  If you shoot only jacketed factory loads, you have little need to worry.

35. Well I got to handle both the Strikefire 2 and Sparc 2 last night. I really like the size, feel , and look of the Sparc as well as the 2 MOA dot. However the Strikefire has a larger diameter tube that I can't help but think I would like in the long run. Seems like it would aid in target acquisition. It really needs to be mounted to a gun to test though. You can only do so much holding it in your hands. I also did not get to check it out in daylight.

37. Here is my solution, balance your household income into the normal buckets or envelopes of moneys, gas, elec, food, car payment, savings, Christmas, vacation, clothing, house, etc., in all seriousness, make sure what really matters is covered without exception!  Then do like I do, also have a bucket or envelope for "fun" separate from the Mrs. bucket or envelope for "fun".  Then the "fun" money you set aside, use it for fun.  Unfortunately, in my case the F was transposed with G, and I have a "gun" money bucket.  Its been this way for years, and it works.  Each year I set off to buy at least 1 or 2 new guns a year with my G money, problem is that I sell other items in my garage that I turn around and buy guns and gun stuff with, which in the end I end up buying 2 or 4 guns.    Layaways at Buds don't help!

41. i have been shooting the glock 40 since 1998.  i also reload for it.  i do use a aftermarket barrel for the cast lead reloads.  the first glock 40 barrels made many years ago did not give full case support.  so when you reload the brass that came out of the gun you could have a problem if you did not full length resize the brass.  but i have never seen one blow up or had one blow up on me.  i got several of the first made and they got a boat load of rounds through them.  the newer glock 40's have better case support over the gen 2 and some older gen 3 guns.  i look at it like this,,,, if i shoot cast  lead reloads in any of my glocks, i use a aftermarket barrel from kkm and/or efk.  if i shoot factory ammo i use what barrel that is in the gun at the time.  if i shoot fmj reloads i use what barrel that is in the gun.  i know some that shoot cast lead in the factory barrel without any problems.  i don't, i do not want to take the chance. but i have never seen one blow up from leading of the barrel.  yes, they are out there, i just have not been around to see first hand or know anyone that has.  i have only heard of it on the internet.  so use your new glock with ease of mind.  it is not going to blow up on  you.
1 point
42. you can blow up any gun if you put your mind into it.  GLocks are well made, I give them that.  And if they had a bad run of guns that blow up, I think they would do a recall and be open about it before someone got hurt BADLY and sued them into the poorhouse.     so, the answer is...  most likely, operator error OR ammo manufacturer problem.   Operator error includes using lead followed by copper jackets, replacing the barrel with aftermarket, making and using bad reloads,  having some other barrel obstruction,  and more.   Factory Ammo kaboom defects are rare but DO happen.      Remember, to kaboom, you need a *substantial* load.  Like, almost 50% or more above the SAAMI pressure max, and more likely, more than a couple of those.  Or you need a barrel obstruction.   And a barrel will expand and bulge before it bursts, so you  can ruin the gun without injury on a mild "kaboom" condition.

43. Seems to be bad reloads in most cases for the Glocks. Check around and you will find other brands with this problem also and even other calibers, same thing bad reloads in most cases.

44. I've been looking all over for this thread, but someone changed the title! LMAO!    Good luck Saturday morning brother. Guess what I'll be doing at 4:30am that morning? Getting a scent free shower? Getting my muzzle loader or bow packed in the truck? Umm No. I'll be at WORK! GRRRRR! Yep, it's that crazy right now, but it usually is so it's no surprise. I've got plenty of hunting in during bow season, but not still having one down yet, and the rut activity picking up makes it hard ha ha. But anyway, I hope you bust a monster!
