I'm done with those stupid CARB compliant fuel cans and their nozzles that cause me to spill more fuel than any normal can ever did. I ordered a new NATO jerry can from the link below on Thursday. It shipped the same day and arrived Friday. Free overnight shipping? Yes, please. Their free-shipping was UPS Ground. I expected 2-day delivery from Lexington to Nashville based on prior experience, but overnight was even better. It's exactly as pictured on their site. Made in Latvia, full NATO specs, rolled and fully welded seems, no cheap tabs/spot welds like on the Chinese crap at places like Sportsmans Guide. These are not stamped with "For non-potable water" or "For non-fuel use only" or anything like that. Just nice new NATO spec Jerry cans. DOES NOT INCLUDE SPOUT. You have to add them to your order, but you don't need one for every can. The spout is a matching steel base with a semi-flexible plastic end with a built-in screen filter. No CARB compliance here. With the free shipping, this was the cheapest place I could find them. I did find a great deal on a 4-pack of NATO Jerry cans at Overstock.com, but upon further inspection realized they had CARB compliant spouts. Sort of defeats the purpose. I ordered more today for a total of 4 cans and 2 spouts, plus an extra gasket per can. I'll probably never need the extra gaskets, but they're cheap and I'd rather have some if I need them. They also have 10L and 5L cans. http://lexingtoncontainercompanysonlinestore.mybigcommerce.com/jerry-can-20l/ They seem to have good prices on Gamma lids too if anyone needs any for their buckets.6 points

Made this the other day. It has links to each state that has reciprocity with TN. Yep. That's how the RV crew found him and saved him, and how Rick and Co. found the RV crew. If it weren't for the flare, we'd have spent 3 weeks roaming the woods looking for Sophia the RV crew.3 points

I about fell out laughing when they kissed. Mostly laughing wondering who would lose their mind here first. I hope it turns out they are married. At least being gay explains the fashion sense and cleanliness. Pretty good episode. Why didn't Glenn turn on the wipers?3 points

You know, it might just be their policy and the poor girl was doing what she was instructed to do. Generally in a retail setting, front-line employees bend policy at their own peril. It's not like they are normally "empowered" to arbitrarily change what forms of ID are accepted. I never understand people who lose their composure with retail staff like this. Ask for a manager if you're going to show your butt. At least that way the person having to endure your demonstration of discontent might have some power to change something. But hey, that's just my opinion based on (a.) having worked retail myself before and (b.) having two grown kids who work retail right now, so I have lot of empathy and a little sympathy for folks in that position. The general public is full of otherwise-good people who truly believe that they, the customer, are always right, and will resort to completely dickish behavior in the blink of an eye to get their way. Slamming them on Facebook for the fact that one employee, who may or may not have been doing exactly as she was told to do by her superiors, failed to meet your expectations (realistic or not) is pretty dickish in my opinion. With as many outside forces are trying to put Pro-2A businesses under or squelch the Second Amendment entirely, we gun owners really need to abandon the practice of eating our own or we'll have nothing left to hand down to our children and grandchildren.2 points

Meanwhile......back at The Walking Dead...... I thought it was a good episode. They brought back the fear I've been looking for. That night-time car scene was excellent. When the flare went off and Aaron tripped out, I thought it was because he wanted to get away because something super bad was coming their way. Way to amp up the tension. I thought it was a solid episode. Toss in "flare to the face" zombie and we have a winner! The whole Aaron and other dude (can't recall his name) story makes me think about our discussions about Carl never getting any now that Beth's gone. Noah's not much older than Carl....... :stir: :stir: :stir:2 points

If you like the metric system and are more used to using meters go with the mrad. If you prefer using yardage go with the moa. Personally I'd pick either over the jm1, but that's just me.1 point

Yep. Those are Chinese knock-offs. I'll take my real-deal, thank you. :D You can tell by looking at the rib down the middle. If it protrudes out past the flat part of the front, it's a Chinese one. Lots of spot-welds too instead of full welds. Check out where the handles meet the body at the rear of the handle to see more spot welds. All that really means is that they'll be more prone to leaking if they get banged around much. I'd be more concerned about the paint used on the inside and whether or not it will hold up to gasoline whatever you might put in one of these. They also have a straight retention pin and not the "L" shaped pins on real NATO cans. Again, not likely to have an issue unless you bang 'em around a lot. Trust me. If you want the NATO ones w/o the CARB compliant spout, the link I posted is the best place to get them. You might find a place a couple of dollars cheaper, but once you factor in shipping, I doubt it would be more than a couple of bucks a can. If anyone starts looking around, you'll see some with a CARB compliant spout. The way to tell is because the metal portion of the spout is very short followed by a long plastic portion. The real ones are about 50/50 CARB compliant: https://www.forestry-suppliers.com/Images/Original/4705_93172_v1.jpg Not CARB compliant: http://lexingtoncontainercompanysonlinestore.mybigcommerce.com/jerry-can-nozzles-1/ Note that the metal part of the CARB nozzle ends just past the curve of the spout.1 point

Awesome. Thanks so much, everybody, for all the advice. I own a few guns, all models newer than the last twenty years or so, and I've carried them all for work. So I know them inside and out, front to back, side to side, etc. The 1911 is a different animal altogether, so to have a forum like this is really helpful.1 point

Yes it got down in the low 30's here two nights in a row. I had to use the heat for the 3rd time since I've lived in this house. Then it bounced right back to 80 and I had to use the air last night. That's "winter" in Florida.1 point

She may be a bit out there, but I agree, Lady Gaga has some pipes that can impress. I'll even confess to liking a few of her songs. Google her singing Edge of Glory in studio on the Howard Stern Show. That's when I realized the range she had.1 point

Cracked open a bottle of John Bowman single barrel tonight - 100 proof and excellent neat right out of the bottle. I have had the Abraham Bowman and was concerned that his little brother wouldn't hold up the legacy - i was please that it did! Smooth wheated bourbon with a fruity sugary butterscotch overtone and very mild heat - mostly a warm glow. Must have a very low rye content. Highly recommend1 point

I dont think the drill could produce the torque required to raise all that weight. I like this, but I've seen other low tech traps that capture a bunch too. One thing I didn't see, if trying to harvest vs exterminate, is a way to get them out one at a time. Some companies are capturing pigs and taking to feed the hungry programs which require the coralling of pigs like this.1 point

I've been known to shoot cheap crappy ammo in some of my own guns, it cleans up. I think their concern has more to do with bad reloads. Can't blame them, I wouldn't want Bubba running his homemade loads through my gun.1 point

I had a conversation with an executive of Benchmade last week, yes they did drop the Red Class, and are now back on my want list. As I mentioned before the AFO2 is an outstanding knife and the one I would recommend for any of you to buy who want a Beefy hard use knife. I compare its likeness to Pro Tech's Rockeyes, both hard use knifes but the AFO2 has a safety that is nice to have After my conversation with them they are back in my good graces and I am definitely back on board as a fan of their knifes, I have a few Butterfly knifes and a couple of AFO2's I will be buying this year1 point

I'd try polishing the feed ramp. Most low end .45s are really designed to run ball ammunition (Just like John Moses designed the original 1911 to do :) ). Then follow Mik3 .357's advice about oils and grease. It could be the mags, but these things used to run on cheap mags. After all, when John Moses Browning created the ultimate handgun, Wilson's momma and daddy weren't even thought about. :)1 point

Polish feed ramp would be my next resonse. Check for burrs or hard edges. Plenty of DIY "how to" on you tube. Or you can bring to a gun smith. These were originally Phillipino imported and were value priced for a reason. They may be made in the US now.1 point
