  1. Here's another from somewhere atop the Million Dollar Highway between Silverton, CO and Ouray, CO. We were well above 10,000 ft when I snapped this. Not much else higher than us and those few peaks up there.

Case closed and one happy customer.  Now, to the range!

  12. Finished up this fun design last night, except for sharpening. 9 1/4" overall with a 4 1/2 " blade of 01 steel. Yellow, OD Green, and Coyote Brown Micarta scales with brass pins and Toxic Green liners. This blade design might not be for everybody with the bottle opener and Pommel, but this design just kinda morphed as I was making it! I am really jazzed about it and so is the new owner that I will deliver it to tomorrow. Here it is for your critiques and viewing pleasure!!

  15. So I bought this gun here on TGO sometime last year with the intention of suppressing it. Problem was the factory barrel had the front sight too close to the muzzle and the front sight was dovetailed in so there was no way I could have moved the front sight back. But rather than give up I bought a Green Mountain barrel blank and made my own barrel. It is 416 stainless, button rifled, stress relieved and air gauged and this thing is amazingly accurate. Part of the accuracy is because I chambered it using a Lilja spec chamber reamer. It is also threaded 1/2-28 at the muzzle and that is my 22 silencer I made 4-5 years ago screwed onto the end of the barrel. The barrel is 18" long making it lightweight and handy. With the suppressor it is extremely quiet with subsonic ammunition. It sounds like I am dry firing it. And I still have the factory 22" barrel if I ever decide to go back to the factory setup but honestly I see no reason to. The sights are from a Contender. The rear is easily adjusted while the front is fixed but I can replace the blade if I so choose. I might add a tang sight at sometime in the future so I can make some really long range shots. If I ever start hunting again the squirrels better watch out. And when the granddaughter gets old enough it will likely get a coat of pink paint. Excuse the dirty gun. I am not a fan of cleaning and this thing is so much fun I have been shooting the crap out of it since it was done.

  16. You mean you actually put down your beers? I made that mistake one summer day while working in the yard with my dad. A bee landed in it while I wasn't watching, and when I took another drink I got stung on the tongue. Dad's fatherly advice was "Finish it before you put it down and that won't happen again."

  25. Sounds like constitutional carry to me. I don't think it would pass seeing as the state would no longer get to collect money from permit holders. Plus no one needs to be running around with a gun without training, my 8 hour HCP class basically gave me the skills of a highly trained operator.

  28. According to common "rules", and my experience also, lighter bullets will hit lower.  Reason being is that the pistol starts recoiling as soon as the bullet leaves the case.  A heavier bullet recoils more AND moves slower, so the muzzle has more time to rise before the bullet leaves the muzzle.  So they hit higher.   However, it never hurts to try and see what a lighter bullet will do.

  33. okay, so I went to the Walmart in south Memphis while I had time at lunch today. Sure enough, they had about 20 boxes of the Perfecta in 9mm.  I asked the clerk to scan a box just to see if there was some sort of mark down that was not showing on the price listed in the glass cabinet. It scanned $13.97. I mentioned some of the brethren had purchased this fine ammunition in other locales across the state at 1/2 the price she had quoted me. She had no idea why the price difference. There was a "Zone Mgr" just a few aisles over and she called her over.  I explained to the Zone Mgr about the prices reported across the state and asked if she could sell me the ammo for the same price. She then took out a small hand held computer that looks like a pricing/inventory tool, and was able to pull up the current price for the same ammo in Jackson, TN, where Jct1911 had purchased his ammo. She told me there was a "Rollback" on the ammo but it was now selling for $10.97 per box. She could not explain why it was for sale in Jackson and other stores across the state for $6.94, but could only confirm that it was selling for $10.97 now.  She agreed to sell it for that price. The only problem was, they still have a three box limit per day per customer. Before I left, I asked who set the prices and why they differed between cities within less than 100 miles apart. The Zone Mgr said all the prices are set in the home office in AR.  :ugh:

  34. I really like the overall shape of that knife.  Recently, I noticed a type of old trade knife called a "Coureur des bois" knife after the French trappers/woodsmen who largely used them.  The thing that caught my eye about that knife style is how - at least the ones I have seen - seem to be an almost continuous arch along the spine and back from the tip of the blade to the end of the grip.  That shape is very pleasing to my eye and looks like it would be very comfortable to use.  Your Boker has a very similar shape although it is much smaller.  As I think of a knife as more of a tool than a weapon, I also like the beefiness of the blade - it looks like it would hold up well to general, light to medium utility cutting duties.

  36.   Hate to sound off rude but let me ask you this.... How old is the ink on your HCP ??? This is the usual mentality of freshly minted permit holders thinking that no one should be allowed to carry until they have been trained..... But wait how many states allow for open carry without a permit? How many states allow for both open and/or concealed carry with no permit? Do these states have that many retards waving guns and doing moronic and stupid stuff? NOPE   Now more power to ya for getting quality training; that is something I can respect you for. But when you wish to curtail my rights to protect myself and family I will state "No sir mind your own busness"....

  46. I think it's going to be too little, too late for them.  Sure, loyalists will dump whatever they already have in order to fund the purchase of one, but most folks who wanted a single-stack polymer 9mm already bought one from another manufacturer by now.   As much as I love my Glock 19s, I love my M&P Shield 9mm just as much.  It's the handgun Glock should have built two years ago.
