Really looking forward to Walking Dead: LA. I'm a big fan of cataclysms and Los Angeles. It's my favorite city to be cinematically destroyed.3 points

We have a supermajority in both houses of congress in TN to go along with the governor's mansion. We passed far more restorative measures re Article 1 Section 26 when we had a Democrat for governor and a basic 50/50 split for the legislature . The more one sided it gets, the less we get done in Tennessee. NRA loves Lamar Alexander, the only Republican Senator to vote against the permit carrier to be allowed to keep their lawfully owned firearm in a Federal Park. We shgould not back parties, bur rather principals, and individauls.3 points

If you had a real Conservative Leadership group it would be one thing, but Haslam has shown that he is willing to put an iron foot down on "expanding gun rights", which in truth should be termed "restoring gun rights". Till the current Leadership group which holds monetary sway on the big PACs changes, the little people will do what the Big Man says. Always remember politicians care more about getting re-elected than any other single thing.3 points

My friend, teacher and mentor Colonel Dwight Mclemore ordered a new knife from me about a month ago. He sent me a very detailed drawing of what he wanted for his long hunter kit that he is putting together. According to him, this represents closely what would have been a normal blade style at that time. Very plain, blacksmith made, no guard, heavy duty kitchen knife. I have to say after seeing it in steel it screams all utility no frills. This one is special, as it was forged qnd finished by my dad, at 61 yrs old. This is the first knife made for a customer entirely by him, he usually just watches and advises. Now on to the good stuff. Its made from 1/4" thick 5160. The back of the blade was hammer textured and everything was left forge finished at the Colonels request. 10" blade, 5 1/4" handle. Handle is oak, fitted with brass pins and epoxy, and artificially aged. By far the coolest design picture I've ever seen. Hand drawn by Dwight. The hands that make the knife. Thats 60 years of experience, hard work, scars and calluses. These hands taught me everything I know. For those of you who know me, you can kinda compare the size. For size reference I am 6'1" and 250 lbs so it is a good sized knife.2 points

Had a couple of great days fishing the beach this week down in Seagrove Beach. Caught this redfish that was just in the slot within 20 minutes of my line hitting the water. It's rare that you get to share such a treat with family and friends, but the meal that this fish provided was a true blessing - blackened redfish over smoked Gouda cheese grits.2 points

Nice spot. My daughter loves fishing when we go to Florida. Here are a few she caught a few years ago. 2 points

And, really.... Daryl and Aaron getting out of the car that was totally surrounded by zeds and making it to safety without a single bite or scratch? I know Morgan came to the rescue, but he could only handle Aaron's side and Daryl had to fight his way out by himself. I'm calling BS on that one. :rofl:2 points

Fort Campbell's rules seem to be modeled after how I dress when I ride every time I get on my bike, except they seem to have left out gloves. Wouldn't blow my mind a bit. Again, everyone seems OK with these laws that don't affect them. So why then do we not support "common sense" gun laws that are aimed at those who "can't take of themselves"? It's exactly the same thing. We either need laws that treat us like children that can't make our own decisions or we don't. I choose don't.2 points

That's some good stuff! We took my kids fishing at the beach for the first time a few years ago. My little one caught this redfish on that tiny little rod with 4lb line, a hook, and a bobber. It weighed nearly as much as him. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to keep it, but the kids had a blast. We're planning to go to St. George in the fall. If you happen to know, what are the fishing regs there and are there any good spots?2 points

WHOA!!! Best episode of the season. Best of the last several seasons for me. Lots of things to comment on, but in a nutshell...Glenn's condition?, more walkers in the compound?, Nicholas needs to go, priest needs to go, and of course... Morgan is British!!! LOL Best line on TTD tonight. Later guys.2 points

My family was visiting Pigeon Forge last weekend. On our way home we stopped at a Cracker Barrel before hitting the interstate. We had an older gentlemen that waited on us that obviously didn't have much experience with serving. He was very polite and after our order he said let this old Marine get this order in. By the time our breakfast was done he had been probably the most polite and courteous waiter I have ever had. A friend from home was in the restaurant and we picked up his bill. Anyway for our waiter we had left a tip that was almost the total of the bill. While we where checking out he ran out to make sure we meant to leave that much. Wanted to know if he was supposed to split with the other waiter which we told him no. That the tip was for the great service for the meal and to our country, he almost was in tears and said thanks that he was working there because both of his boys where overseas and his daughter in law was in Korea. He has his grandchildren for eleven months til they get home , and needed every penny he could make for the kids. Just thought that was worth sharing about the kind of people this country never hears about.2 points

The Gurkhas are some tough dudes. Lot's of incredible stories about them from the WWII era particularly. Among other things living in the high altitude and training vigorously there gives them what seems like super human strength and endurance. There was a ruckus awhile back where some WWII veterans where being denied some benefits in the UK, I hope they got it squared away for those guys. Plenty of dead nazis on their credentials.1 point

I agree. I don't see it happening in Tennessee either. And I tend to think it wouldn't have happened in New Orleans either if the government services hadn't been so horribly unprepared and badly managed by such a negligent mayor. Confusion breeds lots of mistakes, and the situation in New Orleans is one of the most confusing and chaotic I've ever seen. When they let 70 school busses drown, well, that's a pretty good signal that fecal matter is about to occureth.1 point

If it ain't me or someone I care about being threatened then I'll call 911, try to get what details I can and otherwise stay completely out of it. I am not nor do I want to be a cop and it is not my job nor my inclination to be a protector of society at large. The way I figure, if another adult chooses not to be equipped to defend themselves then it isn't my responsibility to defend them. I carry a gun to, if necessary, hopefully help get me out of trouble not to embolden me to walk in to trouble.1 point

This is SO true. We had all these rights until post civil war, so in reality we are restoring rights, not expanding gun rights-which is an oxymoron because rights are rights, if you expand them, you didn't have the rights in the first place.1 point

Then they should mention it somewhere along the line. Like, "geez, their skulls aren't nearly as hard as they used to be, must have something to do with the zombie process". Just like, "geez, why don't they rot away, I mean no circulation, hell they don't even breathe, guess the virus doesn't something to retard it." Or let Eugene pontificate from some store of physiological trivia as to something like your possibility, whatever. Just saying that for best suspension of disbelief, there have to be "rules", however absurd to compared to reality, they need to make sense compared to how they differ from reality. You can get away with almost anything for a two hour movie without the "rules", but eventually the fantasy becomes too evident without them when the rules get more lax without explanation. Hell, now Aaron just sliced one in half with a frigging license plate, for c'sakes. If the skulls get any softer, a stiff middle finger will suffice. - OS1 point

That's not at all unusual. All barrels have tight spots. Tight at the muzzle is good! You don't need to lube your barrel at all. Only grease it for storage. Other than that, your patch lube is all you need. Just out of interest, what's the gun?1 point

Regarding the recent tragic events of the co-pilot that purposely flew the plane into the mountain killing 150 people, I got to thinking about something. It has been reported that the co-pilot possibly had some mental issues which may or may not be true as more facts come out. Either way he murdered those people. Had the guy used a gun to mass murder those same people, all the anti-gun folks would be whipped into a frenzy pushing their gun control agenda. So in this case why isn't the plane being targeted as the problem? Yes, I know the real answer but using their same logic, the plane must be the problem.1 point

The Tennessee "Katrina Law" is found in: TCA 58-2-107. Emergency management powers of the governor One line was added to very end: (m) "During any state of emergency, major disaster or natural disaster, the state, a political subdivision or a public official shall not prohibit nor impose additional restrictions on the lawful possession, transfer, sale, transport, carrying, storage, display or use of firearms and ammunition or firearm and ammunition components." and another modifed to: (e)(8) [The Governor may ...] "Suspend or limit the sale, dispensing, or transportation of alcoholic beverages, explosives, or combustibles, which terms shall not be construed to include firearms, ammunition, or firearm or ammunition components" Note however that in confrontation with a LEO, at least in the short run mace, tasers, batons and guns beat paper every time. - OS1 point

Disagree. The projectile isn't the point on such a weapon, the concussion and flame are... :rock:1 point

Actually a system that is too large will be less efficient and less comfortable. In the summer it will not remove the humidity so you never really feel cool. In the winter it will heat the house too fast and not allow for balanced heat. The unit must be sized correctly so it can condition the load correctly. I would suspect that comfort is the main issue in this case.1 point

I was a cop when Illinois passed the seat belt law. Most cops were against it because we weren’t going to wear them. They assured everyone that they couldn’t be used for PC for a stop, and the only time they could be written was in an accident or with a stop for another violation. That didn’t last long. I didn’t wear a seatbelt on patrol and I never wrote a seatbelt ticket. I did use seatbelts in my personal vehicle and still today always wear one. I feel the same way about helmets. In TN I have to carry two helmets. A full face for on the highway and a lid for in-town riding. In heavy traffic you can’t afford to have anything obstructing your view or hearing even a little bit. I’m responsible for my safety and if I feel I don’t want a helmet on; that should be the end of it.1 point

You have a phone right? Dial 911. Never drive anywhere close to where you live with someone on your tail. Leave the area. As much as it pains me to say it if you flipped the ass off then you can be seen as the aggressor, especially if you are packing heat.1 point

Two other possibilities. The first is a variant on Leroy's post: One part Murphy's Oil Soap One part hydrogen peroxide One part 90% isopropyl rubbing alcohol The other is one part Ballistol to 10 parts water. With either, mix well before use. Swab the barrel generously with the mix, run a dry patch, then lube as you would normally.1 point

Have plenty in the safe. But this one is a little special for a special little girl. Pretty sure that I'm going to throw an integrally suppressed barrel on it before she shoots it.1 point

Walmart parking lots were full back when Sam Walton was running them and they had primarily almost 95% American made Products also. People shopped at Walmart long before they went to China and long before they sold groceries and I honestly believe Walmarts parking lots would be full if they offered more American made products. I quit going to Walmart except in emergencies when I cannot find something any place else. They are my very last choice to shop at for about anything. In all honesty I think Americans are getting tired of buying low quality products if they could buy better grade American made products..............jmho1 point
