I feel like in a way she's kinda everyone's dog so I thought I'd update you guys. I know I told you the Monkey and I were going to keep her. When we originally got her from Reef, she was a rescue, then she blended in so well. Flash forward two weeks and I realized that not only would she be better suited as an only dog or dog with 1 other dog. But I also realized she was going to take time for obedience school. With our huge pack, it just didn't seem fair to turn their lives upside down. When we initially took her, I had a PM from a member here who sent me an offer of help. To say I was shocked would be true but I should know better then that. The offer was to help with Vet bills, boarding or whatever she needed. Also to adopt her if we didn't keep her. What a great person, right? Well, Daisy has been completey vetted, spayed and given a clean bill of health. Due to a very sad incident at our home we've sorta had her there to cheer us up during a big loss. But today we're heading to Lebanon to meet up with her new owners who will give her an amazing life and focus on her. I'm VERY sad to see her go, but I'm thankful she's going to a good home who truly wants her. So she can technically still be the TGO mascot if needed. LOL I am going to miss her, but I have a slight feeling her new owner will want to share pics and posts about her with all of us since she's so amazing. Also, wish him luck on the food front. She's a hearty eater and she never gains weight. 5 cups of dry and 2 cans of wet food a day. In two weeks she only gained .1 lb! I'll let him reveal himself when he feels like it, but just know, this forum is a place where people truly care and help each other and animals and for that I am grateful. Thanks everyone!

While this is a sad, sad story, I am always amazed at the lengths people will go to to prove their point over something of little or no value.  Just this morning I was about to parallel park in a meter spot in downtown Knoxville when a lady was yelling at me (so I could hear with my window up I suppose), that the meter in front of her was broken so she intended to back into the space I was attempting to park in.  She wanted to make very clear to me that she was there first (although parking in a different space) and since the first meter she tried didn't work she was therefore entitled to take the space I was about to park in.  I am able bodied and have more to worry about in life than a parking space, so I drove off and (as I was already partially in the spot) and found another place to park.   

The part he left off is that he came back and slashed her tires and keyed her door.  :D

My only advice when starting new 9mm loads... start in small batches. I have been loading 40 for years, and I've NEVER had a load that didn't cycle every 40 cal gun I own, or tried them in. However, in 9 I've had more than a few that don't have enough "oomph." I start with batches of 30 rds of a new recipe and test that before proceeding. I got all excited and ran off 200 of my very first recipe. Didn't cycle for crap. Great way to practice yer malf drills. :/ I've found a few more loads that don't run in 9mm since then, but thankfully made small batches. I definitely agree that 9 is a bit more work than 40/10, 38/357, 44, and 45. I don't even wanna think about 380. I hate that caliber anyways, so thankfully I'll never hafta fool with it.

   I have the Tacoma 2003 4WD with the 2.7 4CYL . It is bulletproof and proven for several years especially in Africa , South America and here .  I prefer the 4 cyclinder over the v6 since reliability seems to be better. If you need more power just put the transfer case into 4-Low and it will pull a tree stump out of the ground . I have pulled several vehicle out of ditches and a few Ford F250's . The Toyota 2.7 liter is tough as nails ! It does use quite a bit of gas . I average only 18 MPG .

Yes, to both of you. I wear a Glock Sport Combat Holster the same as that Galco. Technically the Galco was a model with a thumbstrap that I cut off but retained the backside as a sweat guard. That open top is essentially the same.

Find yourself an older, lovingly cared for jeep wrangler with a hard top and ac..Install the gizmos on it ya like;for creature comfort and fun (...insulation in the top... Loud radio...other stuff...) as ya got the time and extra cash.. . After drivin it a while and goin thru a few slick spots; you won't want any of these other "mini SUV/AWV" gizmos anymore...  I've never been without one...    all wheel leroy... the jeep affectionado...

And none of that gives the cop any right or authority to continue to harass someone who was not engaging in any illegal activity because he did not comply with a request he was under no legal obligation to comply with. I don't give a damn whose shiny badge you are wearing, when you make a demand of me that you don't have the authority to force me to comply with and I tell you to piss up a rope, guess what your options are?

  It wasn't an order, it was a request, and a request the open carrier has no reason to acquiescent to.  Watch the second video down in the link (an LEO followed him to another business) and the LEO's flat out said that he told the business owners, "we can't order you to present your...ahh...permit." http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=667_1452648888   So, why the issue?  The open carrier was harassed by the LEO's because he dared to open carry a firearm, as he was qualified by his state to do. Respect goes both ways, once they disrespected the carrier, they lost his respect, as they would mine.  I also would have been just as uncooperative as the open carrier were I in his place.

R_Bert,   My stock came.  It looks great - very high quality.  The gun is taken apart, though in putting on what I could, fit was perfect.  i will absolutely order from them again.   Two notes:     1. I got the regular finish that is included.  It's fine, though certainly not perfect.  Not sure if you have seen my posts, I like re-finishing stocks and am funny about them.  If I had it to do again, I would pay the extra $10 to come with no finish.  I'll either remove the finish or smooth it out with 0000 steel wool.   Is your Howa a really nice gun that you are proud of?  If so, you might plan on finishing it yourself or paying to upgrade to a nicer finish.   Here is how I would rate the one that came on it.  Better than what Ruger put on my 10/22 but not as good as Savage put on my 110.   2. Remember, your order will show a status on 'backordered' on their website, when they really mean that they are making it.

  I always thought of the WRX STi as a rich kids car.  You feel every bump in the road, but they sure are fun.  When I was a director for one of the local Subaru dealers, a grand father came in and bought his son a brand new STi loaded to the gills.  Paid cash $51k.  He said the boy needs a new car!  He just totaled his 300Z.  I looked at him and said, then this car will kill him if he hasn't learned his lesson.

As much as we may like to, you can't get rid of all jerks in society...  just isn't going to happen.  But demanding that your tax dollars don't go towards the salary of one is a reasonable request :)   People have the freedom to express themselves as a jerk...  I just draw the line at employing them in positions of great authority and responsibility with my tax dollars.  If you're not mature enough to recognize people have a right to deny unlawful orders, and not over react then you probably shouldn't be a police officer.   There are plenty of videos out there showing police officers interacting with open carry activists in a positive way, they're still making sure the people carrying the guns aren't criminals, crazy, or a threat to their communities, but they're not violating anybody's rights, and don't act like jerks...  here are a couple of examples:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaWyKYCdOl0   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LRteKrvRWc   Is it really unreasonable to set the bar that ALL police officers be held to this standard?  That if a police officer can't handle interacting with people not breaking the law similar to the above encounters, that the public should demand they no longer be police officers?   Or even better yet a simple test, if you're a police officer and walk up on a guy who is open carrying, video taping, and asks you what you're PC or RAS is for the stop, and can quote you the state law in question...  that you're probably dealing with a citizen that wants you to over react...  and the SMART thing to do is not give them what they want.  If in those situation you're not able to recognize the situation you're in an control your temper, you probably don't belong in the uniform you're wearing.

Mac, you will NEVER regret the Taco.   Toyota has me hooked.   Do pony up for a v6.  The 4 cylinder is pretty pathetic.  Might run forever and get great mileage but it suffers from anemia.  The wife got one as a rental when her car needed servicing.  It was a great ride....but weak.  the 4.0l V6 is AWESOME though.  

  Can't say I have heard this issue, but I will check.  I have many very good friends who work at Corporate, some on the top floor.  I am not saying it isn't true, but I know her husband has a early 2000's Xterra and he is looking to get a new one now that they are discontinuing them.  He hasn't mentioned once an issue with oil.    As with any car and any dealer, when it is out of warranty, none of them are going to give you a free $2500 fix.  6 Years old, 105k miles, no one is warrantying that unless you paid for an extended warrranty.   Not trying to convince anyone to buy or not buy a Nissan, but for me, your argument doesn't to me make me believe any manufacturer would do any different.  You just happen to have an issue you think should have been fixed.  There are plenty of people with Toyota's, Chevy's, Fords, etc that could say the exact same thing.  

It's funny how when someone has a car that had issues, every car by that manufacturer is junk.  I simply say this as a general statement, not directed at anyone.  I have a Titan and it is a great vehicle.  I and I suspect many others know many people who work at Nissan and overall, there are probably more Nissan's in Middle Tennessee than just about anywhere in the country.  I don't hear a lot about people not liking their Nissans.     Pick any manufacturer and someone will tell you they are junk.  To equate it to guns, I personally would never own a Mossberg because when I grew up, Mossberg equalled cheap crap.  I suspect they are better today, but if someone asks me, I will never pick a Mossberg model to recommend.   I think all cars are 100x's the quality today that they were even 20 years ago.  With proper maintenance and care, almost any of them should have the ability to be a good car.  Go drive them all and pick the one you like best.  I probably drove 40 cars before buying my last car.  I was very surprised at the cars I ended up liking and those I didn't.  I can tell you some of the most expensive cars impressed me the least.

  You are allowed to use anything you want as long as it is not religious or vile in the country you are in.  At least those were the rules when I was in.  And the vile thing, well... That was overlooked most of the time, because you're on a tank and its entire job is to kill and destroy things, not fix potholes and help kids with their homework.

I know your point wasn't about the cop. You chose to ignore the fact that the cop was a jerk in initiating this confrontation and instead focused on the OCer being a jerk in responding to it. That's cool, I didn't. The fact that the OCer was acting like a jerk doesn't absolve the cop for acting like a jerk as well and vice versa. Like I said before, everybody is responsible for their own behavior. Always and without exception.

I'll jump in here...I built a 28x40 with 12/12 pitch attic box trusses which gave me a 16x40 room upstairs with 8ft ceiling and 4ft knee walls.  This is great storage and could be turned into an apartment if needed.  These trusses are self-supporting for the span so I don't have any support poles in the way.  I used a 4inch fiber mesh concrete  with wire mesh for the floor and and have no cracks after 12 years.  I had a block foundation that rose 24 inches above the floor and then 8 ft. stud wall construction giving me a 10 ft. ceiling.  I used 3 standard doors on the front and one 12 ft door on the rear for large items.  This also allowed me to "drive-thru" with my boat as opposed to backing in.  The interior walls are finished off with 4x8 sheets dry erase board (White Board) that does not collect dust and is an easy way to write down ideas and measurements.  This also reflects light very well and when it comes time to clean I use a swiffer to wipe down the walls.  Oh yeah, I had the floor poured with a 4 inch drop from back to front.  You don't notice the gradual drop and with the drop and the two feet of concrete foundation at the base of the walls, I can wash a car inside and the water flows out under the garage doors on the front.

I have several friends with Foresters and they all brag about them in weather like this and they get decent fuel mileage.........Have never owned one but just talk among friends............... :cheers:

Haha, she's not much. But no shedding and small poop. Ha. I dug the FJ out and drove around. It's a champ. But honestly the LR4 is unstoppable. It's active 4wd management makes it hard to get stuck if you tried. So we drove it most. I was shuttling people all over town.

Here is a general rule:   Figure up how many square feet you think you need.  Now multiply by 2.  I have heard too many war stories of how many men either built a garage or shop too small.    One of my buddies built a shop about 20 years ago, and used telephone poles as the upright poles, and the rest in steel.  He had the the concrete floor poured after the building was erected.  I believe he went large, maybe a 40x80.  He did all of the work himself, except when he needed extra hands.  He did have access to a scissor lift, which made all of the difference, and I recall he burnt up several chorded drills for all of the screws for the metal roof.   He was single at the time, and built a small efficiency apartment inside in the corner which was very modern and very cool.    He had insulation, but I don't remember what he had.   Had another buddy build one, but he added a layer of security, he used block for the first 5 or 6 feet high.  His other building which he did gunsmithing on the side, kept getting broken into.  Not through the door, but the idiots were removing the side panels to gain entrance.

I'd fight over $60.

I am 100% in favor of legal OC, I'm also 100% against acting like a donkey's rear while doing it.  I generally prefer to OC while hiking, fishing, etc. generally in a remote outdoor setting where I'm not going to come into contact with many people.  There is no need in getting the sheep all riled up no matter how much fun it can be.  I think the biggest issue responsible gun owners face on the subject of OC is the lack of discretion by most all of the people who OC in public places.  If this opinion offends you then suck it up butter cup. 

the Glock Sport Combat holster will be the last one that I ever get rid of. I tried IWB but I found it uncomfortable and a PITA. I liked the Kholster better than the CB, but I went back to OWB anyway. I very often run the belt through backwards for a really tight feel. I call it Inside the Belt OWB.
