I see a lot of guys talking about being prepared for a SHTF situation, but I notice a trend with a lot of us that was raised on good Southern cooking, and that is a serious problem with being in shape. I've always been pretty athletic and I have a decent amount of knowledge when it comes to nutrition and working out, but in the last four years I gained a lot of weight due to constant travel, divorce, stress, etc. I smoked cigarettes for 11 years and when I "quit" smoking I was never without a chaw in my mouth. Recently, I had a come to Jesus moment about my health. I'm not getting younger. I am no longer "invincible." Nothing in particular happened to me, I just got sick and tired of feeling sick and tired all the time. I used to run four miles a day and I ate great, but my lifestyle changed when work became mostly about travel and free catered food with a dessert spread that would make any man drool at almost every gig. For the past few months I've dropped a great deal of fat from working out 5-6 days a week with weights and cardio and from eating a very clean and balanced diet of single ingredient foods. Nothing fried. I drink water, black coffee and protein shakes. I quit all tobacco. I feel better than I've felt in years, and I've got the people I work with as accountability buddies. We workout together on the road and eat right. Anyway, I say all this to say that it won't matter much if your bug out bag is loaded with the best stuff, or if you have the biggest stockpile of ammo and firearms.. Survival of the fittest is for the people that are prepared in all ways. I just want everyone to be the best they can be! Something to think about!5 points

Last year I had a Go Fund Me come up on another website I hang out in. It was for a deck of cards with all the various kinds of AKs from different countries and in different configurations. Well after donating and him getting enough dough together he was able to produce these. I opened one for everyone to see what all is inside. These are as high quality as any playing card I have ever played with. They also give all the information for that particular model like caliber, country and anything unique to that model. And these remind me of the old Army recognition cards we would get in the Army. And now some pictures. Spades are Russian guns Hearts are Chinese guns Clubs are German guns Diamonds are Bulgarian guns On some of the individual cards like the Joker, and a few others, they have more than one listed. So I have one opened deck and two sealed decks. One of those sealed decks is staying with me but I will be auctioning off the last remaining deck. Not sure on where the proceeds will go yet but it will go to benefit someone other than myself. Just be on the look out for the auction thread please.4 points

I bought a new Tikka 204 Ruger as a lightweight walking around varmint gun, but it came with the nice wood stock. I wanted to shed the weight of the wood as well as try my hand at trying to Camo a stock. I was able to get a takeoff T3 Lite stock on ebay for $45 so it was now just down to a Hydro printing kit or spray paint. I really wanted to buy everything to hydro print as I like to play with things like this, but in the end, my $30 in paint won out. I have to say, I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I don't even really care if gets scratched for no more than I have in it, and a scratch will only blend in. Anyway, if you have ever wanted to try it, it's pretty easy. My results.3 points

I really like frog lube, until I let a gun sit for about a year. The stuff turned into a white gummy sticky mess. Mobile 0w20 works great for me, but of course I can't afford a hk. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk3 points

The behavior of the attacker disgusts me, especially with the victim being elderly. Many on the forum have talked about keeping doors locked, while wise, no one has acknowledged that the victim was 78 years old. If I live that long and an still drive, I don't have great expectations that I'll remember things like locking the doors. In the same way that a hate crime adds to the charges, I think there are special circumstances for elderly victims as well.2 points

Do you really think ATF would let Taurus sell a SBS without a tax stamp? In short, no, it is not classified as a shotgun for a variety of niche reasons, since it is designed as a .45 pistol with a rifled bore that happens to also shoot .410, never had a buttstock, is not in a caliber over .5", etc. - OS2 points

These guys will get and go to work in the morning just like the rest of us. Try to keep your texting to a minimum, as they work in the road, and you wouldn't want to get a dent in your car from running them over. Tomorrow evening when you go home, they won't be in the road. They'll be getting salt trucks ready to salt and plow snow tomorrow night so you can get to work thursday morning and make fun of them. They'll still be at work most likely going home Thursday evening. As I said, they are hiring! ;) Start's out at $1604 per month.2 points

Sure, no problem. I basically started off using this idea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wn9wqmFAKo4 I went to Walmart and bought 5 colors from the Rustoleum camo collection (Black (which I didn't end up using, but would if my base stock wasn't black), Brown, Dark Grey/Green, Light Green, and Tan. I removed the recoil pad and sling studs before painting. The tools of the trade so to speak. The stock was black to start so I used a heavy duty scotch bright pad on it and put a coat of Valspar clear primer made for plastic on it. I then cut out some basic shapes as he did in the video and taped them to the stock. I then put a couple light coats of tan. I then put more tape shapes on it and did a couple of coats of light green. Once that was dry I removed the tape. It will look similar to what he did. I didn't want it to be that drastic of camo, so I then grabbed some leaves off of one of my evergreens as well as some dead sticks with a few fingers on them. I took a piece of cardboard and layed the sticks on them and sprayed to get a stick outline. I then cut it out and used it with the dark brown to create some stick shapes here and there. I then took an evergreen leaf and simply placed it on the stock in different positions and sprayed with the dark green. You can play with how much it takes. I just did those two items until I was happy with it. After I was done I decided I wanted a little more tan, so I use some tan over the evergreen leaves in a few spots. I think the biggest thing is to have some dark areas to use the evergreen leaves on. That is what will make them stand out. That was about it. I sprayed some clear matte over it and called it a day. I was amazed at how quick these paints dried. Literally 5 minutes between coats on the base coats and not more than 2 minutes between coats on the lighter stick and leaf coats. It was really very easy. I think in reality you may be able to skip the taping at the beginning, but that was how I ended up where I was.2 points

An Army Ranger, a Recon Marine, a Navy SEAL, and a member of Delta Force are sitting around a camp fire. The Army Ranger, bragging about his exploits says "You guys aren't so tough, I once parachuted down, marched fifty miles, and killed everyone in sight." The Recon Marine is unimpressed, and says, "That's nothing, I once made a beach landing, marched 60 miles, and killed everyone in sight." The SEAL is unimpressed, he says "That's nothing, I once swam 10 miles to shore, marched 70 miles, and killed everyone in sight with my bare hands." Thoroughly impressed, they all look over at the Delta Force member, and he's dead silent, just stirring the coals of the fire with his d***.2 points

What are you setting the headspace on? If it is for an AR I would not worry about it unless you bought the cheapest parts out there but even that doesn't guarantee it will be out of spec. You cannot really adjust the headspace on an AR after the barrel extension is in place and the gas port drilled. It can be done but it will be a hack job when finished.2 points

It's fun! I've always felt very welcomed there (I'm a newb to IDPA). I shoot mostly 3gun, but I enjoy them both. There are a lot of people, so it makes the day a little bit longer... not really a bad thing if you're having fun shooting though :) Registration begins at 0900 and the shooting starts at 1000. It's $10 at the door, and you can just show up. The gate will be open. Make sure you take a sandwich and some water... you could be there 'till 3 or 4. Once you get on the list with your email address, you'll start getting email links to practiscore to register each month. The stages used to be emailed as well, but now I think they're just posted on FB :( I've never visited the facebook pages... I don't do facebook.1 point

Good points. I mean, I see why Daryl wanted to hit that vending machine to get a soft drink for the doc but if I have a huge load of supplies then I simply mentally mark where the vending machine was, take the huge load of supplies back to Alexandria and then, maybe, come back to hit the vending machine. Sure, they owe the doctor a huge debt of gratitude but feeding and supplying her (and everyone else in Alexandria) for at least a few weeks from that truck would be more important than a romantic gesture from her to Tara. Further, as you said, even if I stopped and got out if I suddenly heard what I assumed to be (as you put it) superior fire I would have to assume it just might be friends of those dudes that Daryl blew up and my first reaction would be to get my ascetabulum, the truck and all those supplies out of there. I mean, they said they had been searching for weeks without finding anything and now, suddenly, they have found a truckload of supplies and at least one person - possibly multiple people (based on the sound of 'gunfire'.) To me, that is, "Welp, time to go our butts to the house." I understand why they would want a little more light-heartedness in this episode after all the heavy crap that has happened in the past, few episodes. That said, in the friggin' zombie apocalypse light-heartedness, if it is to be had at all, comes in the form of just being able to relax a little and maybe enjoy each others' company (like in the CDC episode) not in a Benny Hill routine. I have to admit that I did laugh when all that was going on but, upon further reflection, don't know that it was the best idea for the show, itself. Oh, and given what the soft drink appeared (to me) to be I wouldn't even be surprised if Tara's talking in her sleep had nothing to do with the actual soft drink. To me, the drink looked a whole lot like Orange Crush and I wouldn't be surprised if Rick and Daryl lost all of those supplies just because Tara is a fan of REM. This is what I am referring to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mSmOcmk7uQ1 point

HB 1644 is scheduled for a hearing in the House Education Administration and Planning Committee tomorrow. House Bill 2575, sponsored by state Representative Gerald McCormick (R-26), is scheduled for a hearing tomorrow in the House Government Operation Committee. HB 2575 and its companion bill, Senate Bill 2566, sponsored by Senator Mark Norris (R-32), would extend permit renewals to occur every eight years and would also lower handgun permit fees. SB 2566 is scheduled to be heard tomorrow by the Senate Judiciary Committee. Please contact members of the above committees and politely urge them to support their respective bills. ***** On Wednesday, the House Civil Justice Subcommittee is scheduled to hear pro-gun legislation: House Bill 1748 and Senate Bill 1483, sponsored by state Representative Judd Matheny (R-47) and Senator Mark Green (R-22) respectively, would allow anyone 21 years of age or older and not prohibited by law from possessing a handgun to carry a handgun without a permit under the same circumstances and in the same places as a handgun permit holder. HB 1748 is scheduled to be heard by the House Civil Justice Subcommittee on Wednesday, February 24. House Bill 2131 and Senate Bill 1991, sponsored by state Representative Courtney Rogers (R-45) and state Senator Brian Kelsey (R-31) respectively, would prohibit public postsecondary institutions from taking any adverse action against an employee or student as a result of such person's lawful transportation and storage of a firearm or ammunition in the person's vehicle. People who say you have to keep a mortgage for the tax deduction have not thought it through, and are uninformed. Using round numbers, lets say you are in the 25% tax bracket, you earned $100,000 and you paid $10,000 interest on your home last year. With no deductions, you will pay $25,000 in taxes. If you deduct your $10,000 in interest, your taxable income is $90,000, which means you'll pay $22,500 in taxes. So by keeping the mortgage deduction, you are paying $10,000 in interest each year to get $2,500 worth of tax savings. The math does not work. You would be better off, paying yourself $2,500 in a savings account than paying the mortgage company $10,000. If you just really want that deduction, donate to a charity. You get the same exact tax benefit, and you help out an organization that needs it as opposed to a bank. Plus, I don't know about everyone else, but I have not been able to use itemized deductions in years, even with the interest I pay on my shiny new mortgage. The standard deduction the IRS offers is better for me than itemizing. Check your tax records and see if that is the case for you as well. That being the case, mortgage interest does NOTHING for me at all. I get the standard deduction whether I have a mortgage or not.1 point

Are you going to do a FTF only or offer shipping. The majority of everyday carry knives will fit in a small flat rate box. I think you'd be justified in a little premium for that on top of the $6 it costs to ship it. Gas and time to and fro ain't free. I'd be in for it. My current knife sharpener is the fellar what sets up in the back of the local gun show. Wait, are you really up for sharpening all the cheap knock offs we cheap/poor bastards carry? Doesn't require two hands to draw. The same hand can pull up and then draw the firearm. When you release it is not like the gun is going to just fall back down into your pants as soon as you let go. Also realize this is not supposed to be as easy as a traditional holster. What it is designed to do is make it nearly impossible for anyone else to figure out you are carrying. No way this is any harder than a IWB with a shirt tucked in and over the firearm like how a lot of people carry. Comparing this to traditional holsters is not fair. It is like me saying that this is better at being concealed than a triple retention holster worn by cops. They both have different criteria for how they are used. I might go ahead and make one. Have to check my leather supplies.1 point
