  1. By popular request... I am glad to present you with another opportunity to buy a new TGO t-shirt. New Design! Larger Sizes (up to 5XL) and a Long Sleeve option too! This time I made the TGO logo on the front a little bit smaller (lesson learned) and decided to take a big swing at the nervous nellies and anti-Second Amendment hand-wringers out there who seem not to understand that the Black Rifle is just the musket of the modern era. Ordering closes on Monday, September 5th. Be sure to get yours while they are available as this design won't come back soon. ORDER HERE >> https://teespring.com/tgo-what-don-t-you-understand#pid=369&cid=6513&sid=back

  2. I'm going to put my educator hat on briefly. If you want to be precise, pit vipers and coral snakes are venomous, whereas toads are poisonous. Venomous animals usually inject a toxin into another animal's body. Poisonous animals introduce a toxin passively, such as by being eaten or touching the skin of the other animal. Some would consider it pedantic, but it is a difference used by many scientists. To herpetology-minded folks, venomous vs poisonous is akin to clip vs magazine for gun people. We know what you are talking about, but we choose to use the more correct terminology.

  7. Look at the reaction way back when OJ was acquitted. Same thing, I remember the cameras in the highschool filming and how it erupted in celebration. I think there is a storm coming.

  9. Regarding Milwaukee, I haven't seen the video personally, but understand the officer had a chest cam which clearly showed that he was telling the guy to drop his gun and he wouldn't do it. I don't know what the protesters want. I don't worry about being shot by a policeman. Having said that, if I get pulled over, by the time the officer gets to my car I have the documentation he's going to need in my hands, both of which are on the steering wheel. To me, that is just basic common sense.

  14. Since I was 11 years old I have wanted a real Darth Vader helmet. EFX makes some killer Star Wars props. In 2011 they did a Legend edition helmet that cost over $900.00 it sold out in 4 minutes way before I knew they existed. A couple of years ago I pre paid for another Star Wars prop that never materialized, I was offered a Special Edition Darth Vader helmet in store credit, as soon as I heard they were doing that helmet I jumped on it, it is the closest thing to the one David Prowse wore in A New Hope, the original Star Wars movie, it was delivered to me last week and man do I love this thing!

  15. WWMike, sure you guys are welcome to set n chat while I get the operating table layed out with the 342 vitals. I'v never seen rivets in any of those trigger assemblies. But then again I only had 320's a 325 and a few 340's to work on years ago. The general design should be the same. I went to PA Gunsmithing school 79-81 worked at Auto Ordnance a few years and had a full service gunsmith business 82-96. I was ready to get back into it. I got everything but the FFL and now I'm cancelling the effort due to the jerk in the White House's new ITAR manufacturing definition. I don't need legal drama in my life. If Hilary gets in maybe she'll define a gun hobby needing the same $2,350 dollar annual permit just like a business gunsmith. You cant make this s*** up. Thanks for your Service.

  17. Endomondo is what you are looking for. I use it for mountain biking, has a bunch of activities including kayaking. Distance is tracked through your phones GPS. I have used other apps but really like this one. It has free friend tracking (a paid feature in most other apps) that I use to allow my wife to see my location while I am riding if something were to happen on the trail. It also syncs with my Fitbit.

  20. I know this shooting discipline does not appeal to a large number here so I will wrap up my post on this thread with a few statistics from the 2016 Grand American. Total entries for all 24 events combined was 29,755 Targets thrown 3,304,900. This does not include shoot off targets and side events. Probably closer to 3.5 million total targets thrown in 11 days. Harlan Campble Jr. Won (again) the White Flyer 2600 High-Over-All with a score of 2565. Out of 2600 targets Mr. Campbell missed 35. I would not expect anything less from a 54 year old guy with 480,000 plus registered targets to his credit.

  23. Having grown up just outside the city of Cookeville, I can say that a BLM protest there will go over like a fart in church. Should the people I know get involved, the protestors just might need to rethink their agenda and ask for protection. Until recently as the influx of northern people arrived; Cookeville was a decidedly "southern redneck, good ole boy" kind of town that had a very quiet lifestyle with few "racial" problems. Always had pretty strong ties to old south pride and values. A very friendly little town whose biggest claim to fame was TTU. The rebel battle flag was a fixture. Seen regularly. And no one protested it. People didn't go looking for trouble. And Black/White was not an issue...then.

  26. Frankly, I love snakes. I think they are fascinating creatures. Most people who are scared of snakes just haven't spent the time to learn how to identify the ones that are venomous and non-venomous. Just like most creatures, they mean no harm to you, unless you threaten them. If you know it's not venomous, which is fairly easy to figure out, why kill it? They are like your local pest control around your house. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  27. Don't leave a ramrod in one and touch it off. It cause's scope ring around your eyeball to the tune of 4 stiches. My Buddy's Omega was fine but when I found his ramrod and was sure he was going to be alright I giggle grinned and said dammit. His first shot missed and he got excited when he saw those horns. The deer was lucky but my buddy not so much. Sunfish

  30. I just discovered the STI Perfect 10. They are pretty proud of it. I still may have to have one. Sig also has a 1911 10mm that is announced and listed on the Lipsey's website but there are no photos that I can find. I have the Sig P220 Match Elite 10 mm 2 tone. It is very sweet. I am partial the the Sig DA/SA action and I LOVE (love love) the Sig SRT.

  40. I'm currently puppysitting for my oldest son while he's in the process of moving. She's a 6 month old dobie mix rescue. Definitely got the doberman body and common black/tan markings. But the head shape and ears are wrong. What the rest of her is, we ain't got a clue. Although I think there may be a bit of some kind of a retriever in her as she just loves water. She likes to play in the rain and if there's a puddle anywhere around, she'll head straight for it. Also, fetch is her favorite game. But I gotta tell ya, she's wearing this old man out. At this age she's all run, jump, teeth, claws and way too much energy. She craves constant attention and is always under foot. Gotta watch her like a hawk because she's in that puppy "chew on everything" stage. Especially Me! . I know she's just playing and doesn't mean any harm, but my hands and arms look like I've been rasslin' a chainsaw. I love her, but just like a kid, she a steady source of both satisfaction and aggravation.

  41. I have updated our "code of conduct" (Rules) this afternoon to add one new one. This comes on the heels of a conversation with a former Vendor / Sponsor of TGO who had expressed some concerns to me via email about our advertising program. Specifically, they voiced a concern that I have long suspected existed because of the amount of latitude that we have historically allowed our members when it comes to airing grievances. Folks, it is vitally important for our continued existence that TGO have sponsors who are willing to pay to advertise here. We need their patronage! Further, it is usually very beneficial for our members when we have sponsors because those sponsors generally go out of their way to provide perks to TGO members. When things work smoothly, we have excellent mutually beneficial relationships between TGO, Vendors and Members. However, the speed at which and distance to which verbal attacks on a person (or in this case a Sponsor) can spread on the Internet are staggering. One person with a chip on their shoulder can slander the reputation of a business or individual from the relative anonymity of their keyboard, and do terrible financial damage. It's one thing for that to happen in the wild wide-open of the Internet. No one can really protect against that. But it is another thing entirely for it to happen within the confines of a community like TGO, and made even worse when the Sponsor is helping pay for the service that makes that slander possible. Think about it for a moment. Why would YOU want to pay to make it possible for someone to trash your reputation? Legitimate, reasonable complaints against a vendor should be taken up with them PRIVATELY and them be given the chance to resolve the issue. This has always been my stance, however it was never codified into an official rule or policy on TGO. I have addressed that short-sight in this new rule. Your cooperation, if not your understanding, is appreciated. As always, you can read all of the TGO Rules (all eight of them) at this link: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/guidelines/ Rule #8.) Absolutely NO Vendor / Sponsor Bashing Bashing our Vendors / Sponsors in the open forum will not be tolerated for any reason. If you have a problem with a Vendor or Sponsor of TGO, contact them via a private message (PM) or email them directly. If they do not help you after you contact them via PM, let one of the site administrators know and we will check into the matter. Anyone bashing a Vendor or Sponsor in the open forum will be subject to being banned. The length of the ban will be up to the administrators. We have yet to see a forum sponsor fail to help a member with a complaint if the complaint is legitimate and reasonable. These folks help keep the lights on around here and we will not be party to biting the hand that helps feed us.

  42. Since most non military "social purposes" fights in the US are LESS than 25 yards, the accuracy is more than you'll ever need (even a 4" at 100 yd gun is a 1" at 25 yard gun), the mag holds more than you'd likely ever shoot (most civilian use of rifle goes less than 4 rounds) , the sights are simple and are a notch and post like your pistol , the 7.62x39 HP, SP and plastic tipped hunting bullets (like CorBon,Winchester, Hornady, Federal, etc) are all accurate and perform well on people sized game, and the AK will still run when it is filthy if you are not very fastidious about cleaning your gun and an $89 ultimak allows you to mount an aimpoint micro without changing the balance of the gun if you feel the need for an optic.
