  2. Have you got this call? They work to get you to grant them access to your computer, then they steal your passwords and/or plant a virus which they will later charge you to remove - Having tried several ways of getting rid of them, today I tried something different. I kept talking kind of slow, and telling him I did not understand - As he repeated and embellished his story, I picked up my 9mm and quietly walked out onto the back porch. I kept sounding more and more distressed, and he kept getting more and more pushy about how we have to fix this! Finally, with voice trembling, I said "I am so sorry I have caused all this damage! I can not live with this - BLAM!!! I put one round into my backstop, holding the Glock near the phone. I then dropped the phone on the wooden porch floor and tiptoed back inside the house, quietly closed the doors behind me - And Judy and I laughed ourselves silly - -

  4. While showing my friend how to field strip his brand spanking new Blued Sig P220 several years ago I: 1- Removed the magazine 2-Racked slide twice and then locked it open 3- Visually inspected the empty chamber 4- Rotated the "disassembly lever?" with my thumb 5- Hit the slide release lever with my thumb 6- Watched in horror as the entire upper half (of a blued mint pistol my friend had scoured the internet looking for) sailed off the porch and barely cleared his sidewalk by a few inches. Everyone makes mistakes.

  7. Having grown up just outside the city of Cookeville, I can say that a BLM protest there will go over like a fart in church. Should the people I know get involved, the protestors just might need to rethink their agenda and ask for protection. Until recently as the influx of northern people arrived; Cookeville was a decidedly "southern redneck, good ole boy" kind of town that had a very quiet lifestyle with few "racial" problems. Always had pretty strong ties to old south pride and values. A very friendly little town whose biggest claim to fame was TTU. The rebel battle flag was a fixture. Seen regularly. And no one protested it. People didn't go looking for trouble. And Black/White was not an issue...then.

  8. By popular request... I am glad to present you with another opportunity to buy a new TGO t-shirt. New Design! Larger Sizes (up to 5XL) and a Long Sleeve option too! This time I made the TGO logo on the front a little bit smaller (lesson learned) and decided to take a big swing at the nervous nellies and anti-Second Amendment hand-wringers out there who seem not to understand that the Black Rifle is just the musket of the modern era. Ordering closes on Monday, September 5th. Be sure to get yours while they are available as this design won't come back soon. ORDER HERE >> https://teespring.com/tgo-what-don-t-you-understand#pid=369&cid=6513&sid=back

  13. I wouldn't consider it a screw-up, but rather learning something. We have a lot of old salts that have been messing with guns for 30 or more years. When I first got back into guns, it took a while to figure things like this out. Assuming that Jenny is a woman, I'm just glad to see another women showing interest.

  14. That was stupid on the resident's part and he at the very least should have received a tongue lashing from the police. The use of deadly force to protect property is not justified in Tennessee, first of all, and secondly the resident was no longer on his property when he entered the public street to confront the motorist. Going off of your property, brandishing a firearm, to confront another citizen on public property to ask them "what the hell they are doing" is just stupid no matter the circumstances. He could have easily been arrested for brandishing a weapon. Probably should have been.

  15. Picked this one up today for a steal. Haven't shot it yet. Feels pretty good though. It was imported by Intrac Arms out of Knoxville. I'll post more info after I give it a good clean & lube then get it out to the range. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk

  28. The mayor is a DB. He thinks he's fancy and wears ridiculous shirts and ties. He granted the permit. They're protesting is supposedly limited to TTU's campus, but they're trying to pull something. Their permit if for the 23rd. Yet apparently they're planning on the 21st. Kinda weird. This town is quiet. There's an abundance of LEO's here from the PD to the SD. The sheriff's department here is much different than in Nashville. Here there are a ton and they do active patrols, stops and responding. I hope it stays peaceful. I really do. But should it not, I feel bad the the protestors. Your description of it still seems to be how it is now here. Confederate flags are abundant, flown freely from porches. I don't care which way the wind blows and who flys what, as long as you leave me and mine out of it. I do plan on 1 trip to town to bring the SotC boys a cooler of refreshments and then straight home.

  29. I definitely didn't plan it that way. Lol. He is in his own. He stayed with it for 6 hours and then I pulled him the last 4. He loves water, kayaking, fishing etc. I'll look into those apps, it would be nice for my wife to be able to track me.

  30. I'm going to put my educator hat on briefly. If you want to be precise, pit vipers and coral snakes are venomous, whereas toads are poisonous. Venomous animals usually inject a toxin into another animal's body. Poisonous animals introduce a toxin passively, such as by being eaten or touching the skin of the other animal. Some would consider it pedantic, but it is a difference used by many scientists. To herpetology-minded folks, venomous vs poisonous is akin to clip vs magazine for gun people. We know what you are talking about, but we choose to use the more correct terminology.

  31. Regarding Milwaukee, I haven't seen the video personally, but understand the officer had a chest cam which clearly showed that he was telling the guy to drop his gun and he wouldn't do it. I don't know what the protesters want. I don't worry about being shot by a policeman. Having said that, if I get pulled over, by the time the officer gets to my car I have the documentation he's going to need in my hands, both of which are on the steering wheel. To me, that is just basic common sense.

  33. I put in for the first time ever this weekend for whitetail as well as the elk draw. This is also the first time I've purchased a Sportsman's License. I usually bought what license I needed depending on what season it happened to be. I only started bow hunting several years ago and last year was my first year to use a muzzle loader. Before that, a Sportsman License since I only hunted during rifle season and rarely needed to buy a Type 94. Since I've picked up bow and ML as well as hunting WMA from time to time, it makes sense to buy everything at once. Also it kept me from paying extra for the drawing entries. I can't believe I never tried before, but think it was mainly because I didn't really understand how it worked. I'm excited about the chance to get drawn, but it's definitely overshadowed by my excitement of deer season and all the glory that comes with it! It is so close and will be here before we know it. I picked up a new game cam last week also. I went into Academy planning to buy the $50 special but ended up getting the Browning 12mp Strike Force HD. It was $129 and I am absolutely happy so far. I borrowed an SD card from a buddy until I could get back to the store and buy one. In the one day and a half that it was running, I got over 300 pictures. I was really not expecting many at all outside of pictures of my face staring into it while figuring out how to work it and maybe a couple deer or squirrel pictures Many of the pictures are multiple shots from each visit to the corn, but it was awesome. Several yearlings, several big does, some of them with fawns sticking close by and playing while Momma ate her meal. No bucks at all, but hoping they follow along behind the does and find some nourishment as well. I also replace the mineral block since the old one is long gone. Before I left, I changed it to video so I am really excited to see what was caught on camera this time. The still pictures are very clear, so I imagine the video should be good as well. I know a lot of you are as excited as I am. Also, I miss the "Official Deer Season" threads!!! Here's to another great year of being in the woods and enjoying God's creations!

  34. You know we bitch and moan about people driving and talking on the phone, texting, reading emails, etc. And when they pull over to do it safely we automatically think its ISIS here to diddle your goats? If it's a public street in a public neighborhood then anyone has a right to park on it, at any time. If you want to perch in a lawn chair at the edge of the grass, that's fine too, but you have zero right to approach the car with a weapon on the public right of way. Now, doing so may or may not be illegal depending on the weapon and how you are carrying it, but I'd suspect the action is not advisable from my standpoint. March around the neighborhood long enough looking for an opportunity to "defend" it, and you'll surely find one....just ask George Zimmerman.

  35. Well, I'm a pro gun person. I do see both sides. I think he had every right to checkup on her and even. E armed while doing so. I wasn't there. Maybe it wasn't that big a deal. But it sounds like the muzzle of his rifle may have been pointed closer than she would have liked. She had every right to be there if it was a public road. I just see it as an intimidation tactic on his part. Also, if at any point he stepped off his property he would be in possession of a long gun with the intent to go armed. Maybe he was technically legal. Maybe she technically overreacted. Maybe his neighbors were mass murdered the day before and he was scared. I just think that it's overkill to to present yourself in such a manner while approaching a car parked on a public road with the cabin light on with a woman talking on the phone. It could have ended badly in several different ways. Maybe she thought he was robbing her and she pulled a gun on her? Then what? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  36. Seriously? With the climate today how else are they supposed to answer a man-with-a-gun call? Personally I would be surprised if they answered any other way. My guess is nothing will come of it because there was no crime committed.

  40. So I was at the range a few weeks ago and in the trash can I found 450 loaded 9mm. They looked good, So being brave I tried one and sure enough it was a squibb. I took them all apart and most of them had little or no powder in them. I just reloaded the bunch with my powder.

  42. The H&R Pardner is pretty dang close to an 870 clone. Most all accessories fit. The Maverick 88 is a cheaper version of the Mossberg 500. Either one of these or a used 870 or 500 at a pawnshop should serve you well.

  44. I don't really think they're that awesome. The bolts feel incredibly loose, and the whole action feels cheaply built and loose of tolerance. I've fiddled with a lot of them and have never been impressed. The ATR was not well received, and the Patriot just feels like a mildly revised doubletake. I'll say it again, like every other rifle thread, look at the Savage offerings in the same price bracket. Better build, tighter tolerance, greater value. :-)
