God chose man(HIS disciples) to teach the gospel to mankind. God gave them what is called, "The great commission." (Mark 16:15-16) And he said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned." Praised God for the resurrection of the Christ, and for what God has done for all mankind. Thanks be to Jesus for what He has done for all of us. Have a happy day! Good Bible Lesson, on Christ, if you care to watch. www.godsredeemed.org/index.php/sermons-classes7 points

And I meant to add this earlier: Your neighbor sounds like a pretty reasonable guy, as do you. Thanks for posting up a story along the lines of "Two neighbors have rational, reasonable discussion about mutual land use, try to come to mutually agreeable solution." I think that's still pretty common, but we don't hear enough about it these days...6 points

Happy Resurrection Sunday to all! In this season of trial I hope all will remember that HE IS RISEN AND STILL ON THE THRONE! Psalm 91: He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.a 2I will say to the LORD, “You are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” 3Surely He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly plague. 4He will cover you with His feathers; under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and rampart. 5You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the calamity that destroys at noon. 7Though a thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, no harm will come near you. 8You will only see it with your eyes and witness the punishment of the wicked. 9Because you have made the LORD your dwelling— my refuge, the Most High— 10no evil will befall you, no plague will approach your tent. 11For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. 12They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.b 13You will tread on the lion and cobra; you will trample the young lion and serpent. 14“Because he loves Me, I will deliver him; because he knows My name, I will protect him. 15When he calls out to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him. 16With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.”5 points

Defense of a third party is specifically mentioned in the law as a justified use of deadly force. So it is legally correct as well as morally correct.5 points

Keep this in mind, if it’s a legal issue that would keep you from intervening, then that should not be an issue. You have a right to defend yourself, family member or an innocent bystander. If your carrying a firearm and innocent lives are being taken right infront of you and you do not help then that’s a decision you will have to live with. I personally would not hesitate to eliminate the threat. Be a good witness, yes if that’s what’s needed, but when lives are being taken, it’s time to step up and take the threat down with over powering force with the quickness.4 points

The other thread about 22lr suggestions got me thinking about how each of us probably tend to gravitate to one caliber or type of rifle/pistol. For me, that is 22's. I love 22's of all sorts. I am pretty well versed in 22's and have a lot of them including many competition guns (I shoot 22lr Benchrest), but I got to thinking about what got me started to really love them. We don't have a lot of 22 threads on here, but I thought it would be cool (at least for me) to see what others consider to be their favorite personally owned 22 pistol and/or rifle and why. I am sure for some it will be a handed down rifle from their parent or grandparent. For others it may just be an era of guns, or it could be the only one you have. I am always looking to learn more about different 22's so also hoping maybe I will see something that intrigues me that I didn't know about. It doesn't need to be expensive or rare, just loved by you. Let's limit it to one rifle and pistol per person. Can be hard for those with many, but there is always that one that means just a bit more. I'll start. Rifle: Winchester Model 52D with 14x Unertl When I first got into 22's a buddy of mine had a 52C that I shot and I fell in love. Many years later I own a few, but this probably my favorite. This is what got me started into thinking about shooting Benchrest and started me down the rabbit hole. I just had it out a few days ago shooting targets. It's still impressive to how well these old guns shoot. Pistol: Browning Medalist As you can probably see, I lean towards old classics. I actually bought this gun on here from a fellow member. I love older target pistols like 41's, Hi Standard's, and of course this Browning. Something about these that once I saw one I had to have one. The grips are amazing and it is just plain fun to shoot. This is a shooter grade, but a pistol I smile at every time I get it out and shoot. I hope some find this thread enjoyable. I know most are more tactical oriented on here.3 points

Watched the Livestream from our church (Rechoboth Baptist Church) and ended the service with communion. Picked up the communion cup with wafer at the church in a drive-by earlier in the week. Also watched Charles Stanley. Heard some great messages. God is Good all the time, all the time God is Good. Quote Edit3 points

And therein lies the problem. You are judging us on facts that you don’t understand. “simply for seeing him attack others” was no where close to what happened; so, I assume you aren’t familiar with what happened. I’m good with any investigator coming back and reading my comments. Those actions would clearly be within what is allowed by law, the way I was trained at the Police Academy, and probably the way they are being trained all over the country. When you go though training, and I hope you will if you are going to judge others, you will find that if you are carrying a gun, there may someday be a need to use it. There may be little time to act, and you damn well better know if you are justified or not. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you shouldn’t have judged those of us that made statements. That’s what we do here after shootings, deadly force incidents, or “what if” scenarios. Armed with hindsight being 20/20 we arm chair quarterback, and judge all that has happened. It is a learning experience. However, we make an attempt to stick to the facts. Sometimes that’s difficult with the media not always wanting to be accurate with the facts. But we do the best we can. So your “simply for seeing him attack others” is not accurate and more like something the liberal left would print. A more accurate statement by you would have been “simply for seeing him brutally stabbing several women to death”. That would be factual, but of course would make the rest of your assumption look silly.3 points

Favorite Rifle: Marlin 39A. My first .22LR I bought. Sentimental Rifle: Octagonal barrel Winchester Model 61 with a four digit serial number. It was the only firearm my father owned. He had a Lion Oil service station over in the Green Hills area in the 1930's. He ran tabs on gas, oil, etc. for many people. A man owed him $15. The man left the Model 61 with him until he could pay the bill. The man never came back. I learned to shoot with this rifle. Favorite Revolver: Colt Diamondback .22LR Favorite Semi-Auto: Ruger Mark II Bull Barrel that Hamilton Bowen put a custom trigger on that breaks like butter.2 points

What have I found lacking in planning? A lot. No one expected the government to shut down society and the economy. This situation has gotten 100% out of hand. What’s going to happen the next time a new strain of flu or some other unknown virus comes along? The only sure thing is it will happen again.2 points

If it was made in 2014 it’s the one that was pulled out of production for being a POS. If yours was made in 2016 or later; it may be okay. They were completely reengineered and brought back to market in 2016. I wouldn’t be afraid to buy one of those guns; they have had good reviews. But of course, once you’ve failed to the point of having to remove a gun from the market and reengineer it; you will have plenty judging you on the past. The reviews are mostly good, but it appears they have a break-in period. I’m never okay with that, but these have an MSRP of $448 and sell for $240-$260 at GAG or Buds, so it is what it is. They are in the “Cheap American Made” category. Supposedly they will be offering this in 40S&W, I might buy one of those for my collection of “Range Toys”. But….keep in mind, only 3000 of those bad R51’s were shipped, and Remington offered a refund to owners that wanted it. So if you have a bad one that is in “mint” condition; it could be a collectable many years from now.1 point

Rifle: Remington Nylon66. Light, excellent handling, and accurate. Still my favorite .22 rifle after all these years. A close 2nd would be my grandfather's Marlin 39a. Pistol: High Standard Victor. Much more accurate than I am, reliable, and points perfectly for me. My 2nd choice would the Colt Trooper III .22. A true work of art and the smooth action is still amazes me.1 point

Ruger 10/22 or S&W 15-22 for a semi-auto. I love the 15-22 as it is a great trainer for the AR15 . Both of my teenagers(and my wife and I) have done lots of up drills and box drills to learn AR mechanics for cheap! The 15-22 takes most AR accessories and some companies like Radian make 15-22 specific parts(charging handle & safety) for it. For my sample size of 2, both of the 15-22s I have owned have been more reliable and less finicky about ammo then any of my 10-22s. As for bolt guns, the Ruger Precision Rifle Rimfire is super budget friendly and if you get a good one they can be solid little shooters. The CZ 455 has a better trigger and is slightly more accurate. Currently, I am working on a Tikka T1X .22 in a KRG chassis for myself but my kids still shoot the Ruger PRR and love it. My daughter can drop 5 shot dimes at 50 yards with the Ruger PRR and CCI standard velocity.1 point

Build this gun about 3 years ago intending to shoot it in USPSA Limited division. Of course life gets in the way (new child, building house, etc.) and kept me out of the sport another couple of years. Looking forward to shooting my first match in a decade next month. Some of the more interesting quotes leading to my thoughts on people wanting to blow him away. Maybe I misread them: “I would have given him an opportunity to surrender and if he didn’t; I would have killed him.” “Assuming we have a safe backstop I bet most would take the shot.” “If in the mentioned stabbing, if one had a shot into the back, or even the ear of the perp, would be no problem IMO.” I would assume that if any of these folks shot and killed the guy simply for seeing him attack others, they would be going away for some time in the ole’ gray bar hotel. If investigators saw those posts, I would imagine it would be much longer since they look like premeditated actions and the willingness to kill someone if only the right chance came up. Again, that is the way those came across to me but I could be wrong. On not carrying. I do have a carry permit but have yet to carry. I got it more to stay as legal as possible when I transport my gun, bag and ammo in my truck. Honestly, I probably don’t need to actually carry unless I get some quality training. Which I have debated in the past and I have to say that this incident makes me think about it more.1 point

The explanation is the virus isn't new. I recall reading somewhere that there are multiple strains, some more aggressive than others, and the tests don't isolate the more aggressive strain, only the family of strains.1 point

The stock market seems to have turned the corner. I listen to CNBC on audio most of the day and you can gain some real insight into what's going on behind the scenes. Ammo has less short term value for the typical family than TP, rice, and canned goods... and all of those are returning to the shelves. I have enough 9mm but I would prefer to have a larger stock of 223. Anyway, 223 is a true SHTF ammo. It doesn't look like we'll need to be carrying our ARs in one point slings with this one.1 point

Yes they are. On one hand I like to think that someone in government has some common sense and knows that happy subjects... I mean, citizens... are a good thing to have during tumultuous times. On the other hand, I know that the real reason is also rooted in common sense but it's the fact that we don't need a lot of alcoholics going cold-turkey through detox and flodding our emergency rooms right now. This is the exact same reason why hospitals usually have beer that can be dispensed by the pharmacy, to keep alcoholics from detoxing and coding. Mercifully the rest of us get to benefit as "enthusiasts" from this provision that allows liquor stores to remain open.1 point

My Cub Scouts are working on the same requirement. Well, we were a few weeks ago... Brim and bluegill are easy to catch and fight just enough to be fun for kids. My best advice is KISS.... live worms, small hooks, a bobber, and go find a local fishing pier or just stand on the bank where the water isn't moving fast and there isn't much debris to get hung up on. Go when it's warm and the fish will be more active near the surface. We've caught bunches of them standing on the bank near any of the multitude of boat ramps. If you've got more than one kid, don't plan to do much fishing yourself. You'll be busy helping them the whole time. Edit... this is a great way to teach kids patience in a world of instant gratification. If you're not having luck, change your depth, move 100 yds down the bank... or just wait longer. You can spend an hour with without a nibble, and then all of a sudden you can't bait the hooks fast enough. That's just how it is.1 point
