Today I was browsing in a local pawn shop owned by a friend & happen to notice he had a German Luger in the case. This was a real beauty & has been very well taken care of by somebody. I'd call the finish at least 90% & it even had the original leather flap holster & two magazines. It was priced $1,250 so I told him it was very nice, but out of my range, but he winked & told me I could shoot it for free. I thought he was making a joke until he pulled out a box of Speer 9mm & told me to follow him outside. It didn't shoot like most old military pistols I've tried. I was amazed at how smooth the action was & how little recoil it had. We had a good time tearing a two liter bottle to shreds behind his shop. When all was said & done I was really impressed at how well it performed & it made my day to have the opportunity to try out a pistol that I've mostly only read about.4 points

I delieverd for the Papa John's in Lebanon years ago. There was no policy forbiding customers carrying on the store at that time, drivers were forbidden to carry though. I did anyway, figured losing my pizza delivery job and keeping my life was an okay tradeoff.3 points

I prefer not to disclose because it has nothing to do with why I was stopped, I'm not going to tell him about all the stuff in my car that's not a danger to him. I don't see a difference in telling him I have a gun and telling him about my grandma's toe fungus. Neither are relevant to why I was stopped.2 points

It sounds like, despite the circumstances under which you came into this money, it could be classified as "fun money." Given that, I would get something along the lines of...2 points

True, but even Shiloh asks "Are you sure?" when you ask for one in .45-110. My shoulders hurt enough as it is. Indeed. And you suck, just so you know... :)2 points

And yeah it does...How about an 1859 Original Sharps .45-100 that saw service in the Civil War, The Indian Wars and as a Buffalo Market harvester.... And....it's a 1000 yd gun, that I shoot around once a week. Now that's cool..... :D2 points

I haven't bought a new CD in a long time. That's about to change. A bad Pink Floyd album would still be better than anything on the charts today.2 points

You don't mention where you are, but if you are able to meet me in Lebanon I'll give you a great deal on new 5.56 US military stuff, just purchased from J&G during their big sale. I do need it but willing to share to help a TGO member.2 points

with no Roger Waters it really isn't Pink Floyd, still looking forward to it.2 points

Found my dog today. Went passing out fliers and a couple said that a guy had brought her by their place looking for the owners. Told us exactly where we could find her. She was very well taken care of during her 3 nights away from home.2 points

A friend of mine told me last week that a 90 year old relative was informed by VA that if she didn't remove a weapon from her property, they would stop the monthly payment she was entitled to receive. There are too many opportunities by different government agencies to abuse a seizure law without due process.2 points

Ok. I'll be the odd man out here. I like it. Period. Looks pretty similar to the Sig 250. I'd certainly like to see and try one before buying...but...I do like it. Oh...and Steel, may the ghost of Jerry Ahern torment your dreams for that low comment.2 points

kroil will probably protect, but honestly, do NOT use it on your guns for these purposes. It is what wd-40 is supposed to be: penetrating oil. It spreads, and creeps, and will loosen every pin, screw, whatever else is in your gun --- things will probably start to work loose just from shooting. It would work as a lube for a while, but it will spread too thin to really serve there. It will protect, but its going to creep and make a mess. Its just not the right product. If you have a rusted bolt/screw or stuck pin or even a stuck case in a die, use kroil -- its probably the best in of the class. If you want to CLP, use something else. Also, I have no idea if it harms any types of plastics or finishes. Probably ok on finishes. You might use it to clean, but I would not. Also, talk about an oil that will ruin ammo fast... I can assure you that if any oil can get into a primer and powder, this one WILL.2 points

Just heard today that Pink Floyd will release "Endless River" in October. It's their first studio album since Division Bell 20 years ago. (Dang I feel old). It's supposed to be a continuation of some stuff they were working on during DB, but it's all new stuff. Of course Roger Waters will not be on it. I wasn't a huge fan of Division Bell, but Floyd is my all-time favorite group. Just the thought of getting some new Pink Floyd material has me all excited. It may suck, but I don't care, it will be Floyd. To me "The Wall" is a masterpiece that will never be topped. I could listen to that album on a continuous loop. I've listened to it thousands of times and still hear some new nuance in it somewhere.1 point

Don't think anyone mentioned Full Metal Jacket or The African Queen so I'll throw those in. More recent that most probably don't know is The Broken Circle Breakdown. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 21 point

You would have a problem because you were not an innocent victim; but a willful participant. If you had not said anything and kept walking and the person attacked you; you would be justified in using force. Pulling a weapon is not deadly force. Tennessee has no law against brandishing. If you threaten a person with your weapon and were not justified the charge would probably be felony assault. Would you be charged if you shot him? You very well could be; depends on how the DA sees it. But even if they walk away after you pull your weapon; call the Police and wait for them to arrive. The first caller is the “complainant†the second caller is the “suspectâ€. Having said that I keep my mouth shut when I’m carrying and I would have to be taking a pretty bad azz whipping to pull a gun. The chances of me being hurt seriously or killed are slim; the chances of me destroying my family’s finances will legal bills are much higher.1 point

Savage Axis has upgraded with adding an accu trigger, and they are cheap brand new. The stock is flimsy but its a lot of rifle for the $. I've got the version without the trigger and it's is spot on at 250+yds.1 point

Personally if you don't have a shotgun I'd get one of those. Remington 870 or a Benelli would be top of my list.1 point

That is true. Being a criminal defendant, particularly one who is wrongly accused, is generally an expensive proposition. However, putting those kinds of constraints on the prosecution would also cause a LARGE number of truly guilty defendants to be left unpunished. The number of "unpunished" crimes would likely be astronomically higher than the number of innocent defendants we have today. The reason we have the system currently in place is because it is as close to a workable solution as we can find. There is no perfect system. Unfortunately, all systems (legal, political, social, economic, etc) are a balance of competing issues, and many times it is a zero sum game (as it is in the legal system). For every winner on one side, there's at least one loser on the other.1 point

Hey all, first post here. I am finally happy to find some info on this powder.I bought some at a gun show in Knoxville back in the spring when I needed pistol powder. It came in 5 lb jugs marked surplus pistol powder and its gray flake just like in the pics above. I bought two jugs. However, my labels didn't have starting loads on them, they had grain loads and fps info on them. From this I worked up a nice 45acp load 230 grain bullet load as well as a nice 9mm 147 grain bullet load. I dig the recoil from this powder, somewhat like Unique in 45 and not as snappy as Titegroup for 9mm. It burns well with no unburnt flakes in lower powered rounds, cleaner than Unique,Universal,Titegroup, and 231.1 point

I'm not left handed but carry my knife on the left. I hold the knife with the button down pinched between my left thumb and index finger. My other three fingers wrap around the handle with the tips of my nails just touching the blade. I press the button with the end of my left index finger and the blade slips past the tips of the other three. It's easy to operate with ether hand just practice a bit. HTH Joe W.1 point

If they aren’t fit for duty handguns are destroyed. I’ve heard rumors that M14’s and M16’s have been converted to semi-auto and donated to Police Departments. But I don’t know that for sure. Although the M4 is more desirable the M16 is still a functional battle rifle (if you are okay with .223), we (taxpayers) paid for those M16’s and the government should be required to keep them in the event we would need them, as long as they are functional and safe.1 point

There are no bumper sticker sized answers for this.... If you are within 2 arms length distance then using hands first is 99.9999% of the time the answer. Going for a gun when the other guy is within touching distance does not have much future to it unless he has his back to you or unless you have him physically controlled first. It largely comes down to how close they are, how they are armed, and how YOU are armed and where you are carrying it when deciding whether to use hands or weapons. For hands to work against guns you have to be within the distance you can touch the gun before he can react. For hands to work against knives you have to be able to be close enough to control the weapon bearing limb. Out side of those, the gun is going to be the primary tool. With multiple unarmed assailants you may or may not be able to shoot them justifiably....things are complex. If you can fight with hands and feet then you are far ahead of those who carry a gun so they do not have to learn how to fight. But if you expect the BG to play by rules and fight you fair...good luck with that.1 point
