If the number isn't in my contact list and/or I'm not expecting a call, I don't answer it. Ever. If it's important, leave a message. If it's not important enough to leave a message, I probably didn't want to talk to you anyway.3 points

While Mark is having his morning earl grey, I'll comment. If you start with a stock M16A2, a competitive rifle would have a match barrel, free float tube, two-stage match trigger and 1/2 or 1/4 minute (preferably pinned) rear sight. Some will add lead weights to the handguard and buttstock as well. Add to that some match ammo and a sling and you'll be ready.3 points

Yep, this is not about "sanctions", but rather just furthering an agenda. If they wanted to impose real sanctions they would have stopped the import of Russian Vodka.3 points

While we have known for some time that Beretta is opening up a new factory in Gallatin to complement their Maryland operation today it was announced that ALL manufacturing is moving to Tennessee. That's huge. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/07/22/major-gun-manufacturer-taking-45-million-investment-300-jobs-to-tennessee-over-fear-of-gun-control/ http://www.beretta.com/en-us/gallatin/#.U86085EIrnY.twitter2 points

So pre-Sandy Hook these 420 rd ammo cans at Walmart were $149. They became unavailable for a long time and then reappeared at over $200. Then they settled in at $199 for a long time. Last month I saw they had dropped to $175. Well stopped by the local Walmart this morning and saw they were down to $164. I'm not sure where they'll settle but at least it's showing demand has dropped below supply to the point that the price has to go down.2 points

I'm just celebrating my latest stamp arrivals. I finally completed the lower right AR with SBR stamp and specwar 5.56. I thought I would share a pic (should have chosen a lighter background.) I'm no photographer but I'll get some better pics later on. 2 points

A man walks out to the street and catches a taxi just going by. He gets into the taxi, and the cabbie says, "Perfect timing. You're just like Frank." Passenger: "Who?" Cabbie: "Frank Feldman... he's a guy who did everything right all the time. Like my coming along when you needed a cab, things happened like that to Frank Feldman every single time." Passenger: "There are always a few clouds over everybody." Cabbie: "Not Frank Feldman. He was a terrific athlete. He could have won the Grand-Slam at tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an opera baritone, and danced like a Broadway star. And you should have heard him play the piano! He was an amazing guy." Passenger: "Sounds like he was somebody really special." Cabbie: "Oh hell there's moreâ€. He had a memory like a computer. He remembered everybody's birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order, and which fork to eat it with. And he could fix anything. Not like me -I change a fuse, and the whole street blacks out. But Frank Feldman, he could do everything right." Passenger: "Wow, some guy then." Cabbie: "He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid traffic jams. Not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them. But Frank, he never made mistakes, and he really knew how to treat a woman and make her feel good. He would never argue back, even if she was in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished too. He was the perfect man! I never knew him to make a mistake! No one could ever measure up to Frank Feldman." Passenger: "An amazing fellow. How did you meet him?" Cabbie : "Well, I never actually met Frank. He died, and I married his wife."2 points

Tea..., Earl Grey...., Hot. Make It SO! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2IJdfxWtPM Actually, as a Gentleman Farmer, I prefer my Earl Grey as Afternoon Tea served sitting in low chairs while relaxing in the garden. ---- Getting Back On Topic ----- As leftlyk82 noted, a basic, stock M16A2 configured AR is a good place to start in Service Rifle. You can add all of the other National Match level parts as you skills develop and you begin to outshoot your rifle. The only thing that I would do right from the beginning is a good two-stage trigger. I've watched too many folks over the years struggle with the restraints of a standard heavy, creepy USGI trigger not to recommend that as a must-do-first modification.2 points

I guess everything imported from Russia, especially weapons will go up in price somewhat. My nefew has 2 Nagant revolvers, funny thing about the Nagant revolver is it fires a ballistically "pathetic" cartridge if I remember reading right, even with the gas sealing cylinder. Not much better than the .32 S&W long I believe. They are however a neat design and fun to plink/shoot, a novility gun that used to be cheap. Got this off Wikipedia site. Italy - Fiocchi manufactures cartridges in this chambering; they fire 6.4 g (98 gr) FMJ bullets at about 260 m/s (850 ft/s), which works out to an energy of 213 J (157 ft·lbf)—comparable to a .32 ACP semi-automatic.2 points

I might be out of touch, but the prices I have seen on the state legal weed out west is far higher then any street prices I heard about. (I never brought any but high school kids could get it cheap, maybe because it was grown local)1 point

Yes. I use a lot of forums on tapatalk, and once in a while when I check TGO I will pull up some posts that are full of BS or spam, worthless content, rude folks, etc... Then I realize that I accidentally clicked on the wrong forum, and once corrected the quality difference is immediately noticeable. TGO feels like home, and is my preferred forum.1 point

Would it be wrong to call him a weenie? Not that I'm calling him a weenie or anything. I generally don't like ad hominems at all, and try to avoid them at all costs.....still, is the weenie thing ok? :nervous:1 point

I recently bought a Yugo as well. The prices on ALL AK pattern rifles, regardless of where they are made, is going to go up. At some point the Russian AKs are going to dry up and that is going to affect demand for all types because some do not care where their AK comes from and without the supply of Russian weapons the demand is going to go up for all types. The only way that will not happen is if another country steps up almost immediately and is able to produce, and import, as many AKs as the Russians did. There is probably only one country capable of doing it and their weapons were banned from import by Clinton AND Bush Jr. Which brings me to another thing. These sanctions, even though they are supposedly temporary, will be in place forever. Look back at the ban on Chinese made guns and ammunition from two decades ago. It was not lifted even though we trade almost everything else with them. So no matter what happens with Russia the ban on the importation of their firearms will never lifted. It looks like it might affect other firearms, like bolt actions and rimfires, that are imported through the banned company.1 point

Yes matches are BYOA. I started out shooting PMC at 100yd reduced matches while learning the positions/fundamentals and working up a match load.1 point

DMark, glad to hear the black rifle is a dominating presence. Can you offer any advice on how to make a stock mil-spec AR competition ready and worthy? It'd be cheaper for me than buying an M1. Not to mention ammo prices! It's been a good number of years since I've shot one of these, (15) and I know there have been leaps and bounds in the technology.1 point

Dave from Protec will have me a sample of this knife very soon, so for those of you who want in, feel free to go ahead and pay for your knives otherwise I will start taking payments in two weeks when I get home, and end them Sept 15th so we can get these before Christmas!!!!1 point

Well Ugly, the Black Rifle now rules in NRA High Power Service Rifle. We're shooting across the course with 75-80g bullets and holding sub-MOA. You still might see a match prep M14 every once in a while, but the AR is now the way to go. However, M1 Garands still have a home in CMP matches! :up:1 point

went with Garufa to a CMP clinic at ORSA. It was freaking awesome. Would love to do it again, even if I shot as bad as I did that day.1 point

If you'd made them less than what they paid you (and the other employees) they would have gone out of business. Was your time worth more to YOU (forget the company) than what you were paid? If so, then you would be right to quit. Here is how I look at it. I'm trading my time and energy for something. If I'm employed, I'm trading it for money. And the employer is trading his/her money for my time and energy. If that is not a fair trade then one of us is getting shafted and the arrangement should end. No one, including a greedy business/evil corporation, is my master. We are equals and I treat them as such. The gov is a different matter. We the people are supposed to have dominion over them, but over time they have come to believe otherwise. Edit: I apologize for my wording. I seem to be channelling Sheldon Cooper tonight. Edit 2: Holy Thread Hijack! Sorry about that. Ahem... He shouldn't have been fired, but it was Walgreens right to do so, so I hope a gun-friendly pharmacy will hire him.1 point

maybe you should have gotten a peacemaker instead? :) congrats. The only reason that would have caused issue here is that we take turns on buying guns, and 2 in a row for one would be cheating!1 point
I respect every business owner for their decisions to put gun buster signs up. They make their businesses targets for all the bad guys to know they will not run into a good guy with a gun when they go in to rob the place. That means the I places do eat I can eat in safely and not really need to worry about anyone robbing it while I am there. I think that every time a person is in a business and it gets robbed while they are in there that has Gun Buster Sign up, that person needs to sue that business for failure to protect them or prevent them from protecting themselves while they were in their place of business and they suffered from PTSD after being put through the experience. ......................jmho
This is something I have been thinking about lately. A lot of businesses state they they are posting for "the safety of our customers and employees". If you are limiting my ability to defend myself, then what are you doing to protect me? If you post your premises for the purpose of safety, shouldn't you be doing something to ensure that your customers are actually protected by more than a sticker and wishful thinking?1 point

Start answering her calls "Hello, (nonsensical business name here) Would you like to take a brief survey?" Before she can answer just start asking her random questions. "On a scale from 1-10, how handsome do I sound?" "On a scale from 1-3, with three being higher than one, and one being of course lower than two, how much is the annual rainfall in your region compared to the national average?" "Would it be safe to say sir (always call her sir) that you average between 0-37 alcoholic beverages per evening?" "And lastly sir, what is the best number and time for us to contact you at home regarding your survey performance?"1 point

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Definitely the pinnacle of the man with no name. After that its a toss up between Act of Valor and Tombstone. Tombstone for the acting, Act of Valor for the sheer badassery.1 point

Tombstone Oops, forgot the "why". Overall great actors, but Val Kilmer killed it as Doc! I don't think they could have picked anyone better then or now to play that part like he did.1 point
