  1. I have lost enough weight that I can now wear an IWB holster in front of my strong side hip, comfortably at the 1:00 to 2:00 "o clock" position, and draw it easily. Lost a lot of my spare tire. And guys that is a good thing for me. Am planning to wear it to church WED night to see how sitting for a period of time feels, then if that works out will need to practice the draw stork now to ingrain the feel in my memory with my new presentation. Previously been wearing my SW 9 MM EZ at the 4:00 just behind the strong side hip. Snub in my strong side pocket, however, will move it to my weak side pocket. I have gone from 295 to 221 in the past year and half. My last A1C was 6.0. Who Hoo! Dropped 4 paint sizes. Hope I can hold it off. Lost my appetite. Let you know how things work out.

  2. Made a couple of big (for me) gun purchases lately so figure I'll throw this one out here to see if anyone wants it more than I would like to keep it. Beretta 92 Volunteer edition. I bought this gun new and it is unfired since I had it. (I assume they still factory test fire them) It has been on a display stand in my living room, handled and the slide racked maybe a dozen times since I've had it. Beautiful gun with the special grips and engraving. Plenty of info on them via the Google so won't go into the specs or details. There is a minor imperfection near the takedown lever. Tried to get a picture of it the best I could. Not sure what it is but was there from the factory. (4th picture) Feel free to PM me with any questions. $1,000 takes her home. SPM on 2/4

  3. This 1959 revolver is in excellent working condition and can be taken to the range today. It is calibered in 38 Special. The original owner was the head of security for Tennessee Kroger grocery stores (he was in charge of firing people) from the 1930's-early 1960's. It has normal wear but zero damage. Priced at $400. I'm located in Watertown (middle Tennessee). ONLY HANDGUN CARRY PERMIT HOLDERS PLEASE. Don't hesitate to ask questions.

  4. Oh well. I guess I should have said I'll take it instead of asking for a pic.

  5. There are simply too many variables to consider before injecting oneself into a potentially deadly situation. What if the guy swinging the machete is a store clerk defending himself against a flash mob? You just walked up and placed yourself in a position of potentially killing an innocent person defending himself. This thread is about changing times and mindsets. A lot of people better start thinking about what Ken said in the video. Good intentions may cost you your life or your freedom.

  8. Did I miss the part where anyone called him a saint? As for the citizen's arrest thing, the problem with all of that is that they DID NOT have a right to affect a citizen's arrest at that point. The citizen's arrest required probable cause that he had committed a crime within a specific timeframe and that didn't exist (I think it is within the last 24 hours). They were breaking a law from the onset of their interaction with Arbery. His past does not matter at that point.

  10. Screw that too old crap. I'm seventy-nine and shoot weekly. I got twenty-five rounds of 45-90 loaded up and am ready to go. We are this way once. Get one of the Pedersoli's and have at it.

  11. The precedent this case sets - regardless of your feelings about abortion - harms the court and the country. Gun rights won’t be the last controversial topic in which this ruling will be used as support. The justices know that, too. So maybe look at it like this. Five justices knew good and well this would be applied to gun rights (because if nothing else Roberts explicitly told them so in his dissent) and willingly went ahead and offered those rights up anyway. They were sent up there to do a job and took the first opportunity they got to do it. But, because they swung at this case - it’ll have ramifications that spread far beyond abortion.

  12. Hey y’all, let’s remember to keep the focus how the legal tactic of this Texas law may be used against gun owners and not get lost in the weeds debating abortion itself.

  13. At the end of day, the dead man was still the victim in THIS situation regardless of his past. I can’t argue with your expertise. I simply hope if I’m gunned down in a similar situation no one brings up the sh*t I did as a teen, in my early twenties or while serving in the army to justify my death. I agree that the three murderers didn’t think about the consequences of their actions. The guy who made the video stopped working on his porch, walked inside his home to retrieve his truck keys to follow the pursuit. He could just as easily called 911, and perhaps he would be enjoying the holidays with his family.

  14. It occurred to me today that with all the quarantining, isolation, etc. going on that folks are going to have a lot more time on their hands. As I remember an old saying having something to do with idle hands, I strongly suspect that dishonest shenanigans are going to be on the rise. While I don’t think we’ve seen too much of an uptick here, we’ve always been very lucky on that front to have a low instance of dishonesty here, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to be extra vigilant for folks trying to take advantage. Keep a skeptical eye, and if something seems off, walk away. Please be sure to flag any posts/ ads/ interactions that are suspicious and make the moderation team aware. Thanks all, and be safe out there.

  15. I'm sure it's a sweet shooter but I've had 4 of the Wilson Combat Berettas (both the Brigadier and Centurion versions) so I don't think I've missed out too bad

  18. They were released 2 years after the move. I have one and it’s a beatutiful out of the box BBQ gun. I will say the OP missed out by never shooting his. The 92 Volunteer is a combination of the Brigadier and 92 G and is one of the smoothest shooting 92s I have ever had in my hands. GLWS.

  19. From what I've observed and my personal experience, weight loss is about 90% what/how much you eat. Exercise is good, but the table is where you drop pounds. Diabetes, etc may complicate this formula, I don't know (and don't want to learn). I've consistently run about 15 miles/week this year, but started eating stupid again a couple months ago (stupid = sub sandwiches, chips, cookies, Dr. Pepper, lots of bread). Work made do it and all that. Sure enough, I'm 10 pounds heavier. While eating stupid, I ran 15-20 miles per week (and didn't go slower), but the scales didn't care. I've been through this cycle several times and it just confirms that, for me at least, food is everything.

  21. Not a lot of earth-shattering revelations in this video. Avoid trouble and stupid situations, the cops may not always be there, buy ammo/components before the next run, practice routinely. Some got their feathers ruffled about whites facing more scrutiny, but this is no new reality. About the only thing really new is the cops’ attitudes. I know a couple and one said (pretty much word for word) “if we are now the bad guys and we get in trouble for doing what we are supposed to do, then FFFFFFFFF them. We don’t have to come.” But maybe this is what the defunders want.

  23. I agree with the others........shoot it. It is a classic design and made to be shot. Of course, if it was an original, I would reply differently, but it is a reproduction of a classic design. I love shooting my '73 Winchester. Two joys of life.......... shooting lever action rifles and shooting pump action shot guns. The stuff dreams are made of.

  25. I am diabetic and Dr's changed my meds and put me on Ozempic. It killed my appetite. Lost 28# recently but lost the other by hard work and cutting down on what I eat, and eating better choices (Low Carb) tnhawk. My A1C was 5.9 (Dr wants it 6.5 or less) today. Just came from the VA Dr visit. Weight loss is the hardest thing for a diabetic to accomplish. Carbs go straight to fat. When I was 295 (18 months ago) I was miserable and decided to get it off. Takes a committed change of direction to get it off and keep it off. Edited t add; even got some side benefit, my bad right knee pain has eased up somewhat.

  26. You are correct, except I do have the exact bullet. The mystery is that I have loaded this exact bullet/case/powder combination for this rifle for years. The die adjustment was set years ago and not changed. They worked, they worked, and then one day; boom! Nothing has changed to my knowledge, and suddenly they no longer work. I understand how to fix it. What I don’t understand is what caused it. Were it a new rifle, new load, new components, or new dies, I wouldn’t give it a second thought. I was under the illusion I had better quality control than this. Make sense?

  27. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't think the video was necessary to know this wasn't a legal use of force.

  28. Which was months after the incident. Didn't the police have the video from day one? Regardless, that's more on the prosecution that refused than the police. And more about cronyism than race.
    1 point
  29. When there is only one party alive to tell the story, NOTHING is immediately clear. Once the prosecution team or investigating officers saw the video, however, they should have had a better map of where the investigation should lead. I don't know that anyone in this thread was trying to make it about race.

  30. A COL in a manual is NOTHING more than the COL they used for their tests of a specific bullet. COL depends on the bullet shape, the barrel free bore, and magazine length--none of which the manual knows of in your case. You don't have their chamber and probably not even the same bullet. After you seat a bullet, always push down on the bullet with thumb pressure. If the bullet moves at all, reject that load. Many times, the case walls are too thin. I throw these cases away. For use in a magazine, I start at the max COL that fits the magazine, then feed and chamber an inert dummy round. If it cycles, that is my starting COL. For a single shot, so far all my guns prefer a bullet that almost touches the lede/rifling, so I start with that COL and work up a load. Usually, the test COL is close to being too short, so they get higher pressures quicker for a built in safety. This short COL will "work" for most bullets of that weight.

  31. Can you get a better pic of the left side. Would like to see the horse and the vp markings.

  32. No you didn't. No one here was saying that. Exactly what I was trying to say. His fingerprints on the gun didn't matter because nothing leading up to that point was legal. It should have been obvious to the prosecutor that there was no valid self defense claim for the shooter.
    1 point
  33. Oh, that's me too. I guess all that was just my way of saying - "you've probably now spent enough time on investigating it to not worry about it happening again."

  34. Well, several of the rounds took quite a bit of effort to close the bolt on. Maybe I was right on the ragged edge of being too long, and found a lot to lot variation in the bullets or something. I’d say the lock ring on the seating die got moved, but these are RCBS, and the set screw was locked down tight. My wife would just say “It’s just one of those things.” I’m cursed with a curious mind and feel the need to find the source of such a problem.

  36. My side gig is repairing/restoring vintage watches, primarily automatics, with a few excursions into quartz watches. The G-Shocks are great, reliable watches with a real hardcore following. This is a photo of an early 1980’s Heuer diver before Heuer, a watch company dating back to the late 1800’s, was acquired by Tag and rebranded/marketed worldwide as Tag Heuer

  37. I despise smart watches. I wear a watch as a timepiece, not another electronic device. I’ve considered a G-Shock more than once, but I can’t seem to get away from my Citizens and Bulovas. Though this thread inspired me to look and I think I might’ve actually found one I that’s perfect for me. https://www.jared.com/casio-gshock-gsteel-mens-watch-gstb100d1a/p/V-321119707

  40. This one looks virtually identical to mine, another first year model formerly owned by my grandfather. Occasionally you see these with British markings, as some went there in WWII on loan, used primarily by their home guard units during the war. GLWS.

  43. All I know is there are three guys in Georgia who just got convicted of murder while having illusions of being “good samaritans” when they should have minded their business and called the cops. I am not law enforcement. Living in Memphis has taught me to mind my own business. I’ll leave the hero stuff to the cops and people wishing to be killed, jailed and/or financially ruined. I’m middle aged, and don’t want to ruin my comfortable life playing Charles Bronson.

  45. Not as often as I should & certainly not as much as I'd like, but I do shoot a little long range target (not competition, just funzies...) with an Uberti 1885 High Wall in .45-70. Fitted with a Seoul tang sight & a Lyman globe front & shooting 510gn cast at right at 1100fps, I can regularly bang a 36" gong at 800yds. I have tried at 1000, but the cast lead nearly leaves a mark on the steel & it's almost impossible to hear (especially after several seconds of anticipation after the bang!) I always, always wanted a Shiloh Sharps until I handled one & it honestly felt awful. I tried a buddy's Browning 1885 (with the tapered barrel, far nicer handling than the Uberti's untapered number) & immediately fell in love with the feel & action. The only downside is the heavier- than- I'd- like trigger, which to my understanding is almost impossible to rectify. It ain't terrible, but at 7lb with a bit of creep, it could certainly be better.

  46. Hmmm, I have a Sportster, a BMW sport tourer, a Ducati 1098 Superbike, a kinda rare 89 Yamaha RD-350YVPS, and GasGas trials bike. I'm pretty sure I'll find another one I need, though. I have a brand new set of Toomey pipes and the RD is sitting on the work bench waiting for them. Just a matter of finding the time. Anybody have the rear grab bar for sale?
