  1. We all make mistakes. Sometimes you find yourself having to break down those mistakes with a hammer type bullet puller. Forget about that irritating spring loaded case holder that comes with it. Instead, use the shell holder from your die set. It fits perfectly in the hammer, is fast and easy to use.

  2. I'm a hard no on pure EV. I know Toyota has said they are close on solid state batteries that would solve many of the issues of electric vehicles. I just refuse to sign on to moving the pollution and oil dependance around so that it appears we are making progress. I totally agree with getting @gov out of the picture though. It takes time and miles to lower the carbon footprint of an EV to below that of ICE. Most EVs are being traded before that equalization. If I recall correctly, two years by the average American driver. Therefore, EVs are greater pollutants at this time than EVs. Meaning the extra energy required to build EV is higher than that of an ICE. This is all before the used up batteries are factored in. This doesn't factor in where we would get the power needed to charge all of them. A hybrid with the modern ICE efficiencies you mention overcomes these issues.

  4. The problem with asking government to make responsible decisions with finances is that they can require people to give more revenue in the future to cover whatever costs are chosen. In a private company, the revenue is what you have and you have to work within those limitations. It requires a bit more ingenuity. Consider the Victory Memorial Bridge in Nashville. It has a flex lane whose direction changes depending on time of day (i.e. which way most people need to travel). That provides the value of two lanes of traffic but at the cost of only one. We don't need more fees and taxes. We need more ingenuity.

  5. Up for sale/trade is my 6 inch barrel stainless colt anaconda chambered in 44 magnum. Produced in 1994 according to the colt database. Action is smooth and lockup is nice and tight. Pretty desirable revolver if you’re in to the older snake guns colt made. $1800 Will entertain trade offers for a nice 10mm 1911, Daniel Defense AR, or M1 Garand

  6. A non profit can sell a firearm. A non profit I am a member of has done it many times. The key is to let a FFL handle the sale. We will show the firearm and make a deal for the cost. Of the gun and receive the payment. We then take the firearms to the ffl and the person buying the gun has to pick up the firearm at the ffl. They have to do a background check to receive the firearm. the first thing you need to do is talk to a ffl. Most will do them for a non profit for a discounted rate or for free. @spurge

  7. I would look for a hunting style chest rig with a flap. would work equally well with shorts or over a shirt under the bib. What do you typically carry when working your place?

  8. Well, I'm going to cut across the grain here and say that I think it's perfectly reasonable to expect those who drive electric vehicles to pay more for the tags, exactly for the reason the state gave, they aren't paying gas taxes but are still using the gas-tax-funded roads. But I'll add the caveat that in Erich's case as he states it, there's something wrong. He's getting stuck with an extra tax, not something that makes up for not paying gas tax. I imagine it would be pretty tough to go through all the possible models of vehicles to figure out some kind of graduated system for paying more for tags, so maybe the state did what they could. Erich, maybe it would be worth contacting your state representative to point out that your particular hybrid shouldn't be on the electric-vehicle list. I might even think of writing to Ford and asking if they'll help. And on a positive note, I moved here from Washington, and I would have done backflips of happiness with a $129 tag while I lived there. I was floored when I found out how little I had to pay for a tag when I got here five years ago. We live in a state where license tabs are very, very reasonable. So, Erich, just average the tags together and divide by two and it won't seem so bad.

  9. I just checked "Completed Auctions" on Gunbroker. There are 3-4 that recently sold for right at $400.00. @Moped is right, trade-in value would be markedly less around here. @papa61 beat me to it

  10. If it were mileage based to be fair, it would be ok. My wife drives maybe 100 miles a week in her Leaf. She will now be paying more than her fair share of "tax" revenue.

  11. Tumbling: Lizard bedding from a pet store is much cheaper than comparable corn cob media sold at a reloading store. A squirt of NuFinish car polish in the media really shines up the brass. A used dryer sheet thrown into the tumbling process extends the life of your media by keeping it cleaner.

  22. I don’t think that’s totally cutting against the grain @Darrell. The tax base as implemented is disproportionate and based on invalid data / justification. TN is doing the as many other states have already had these fees in effect. TN’s are some of the highest in the nation. And the tiered structure is set to increase over the next 3 years. Flat for hybrids, which I read as an admission they knew they are making things up for them and more folks have them (according suns pushback) I really meant to focus on the hybrid side of it as it’s so obviously ludicrous with there assumed MPG. Their premise to tax is heavily biased by MPG, so it should be fact based. Figuring out which vehicles to tax would actually be quite simple. All vehicles sold in the US are required to have their fuel economy provided to the EPA. It’s published data that is readily available, just like the link provided. No need to hire a think tank to generate inaccurate graphs. A temp could grab the data in less than 5 minutes. I came from CA, my last truck’s reg fee in 2018 was almost $700. I left that state for such reasons. It’s not about the $$ as much as it’s an unfair tax based on the states own rationale. I think it’s a group that is easy to get voters polarized against. They are the minority and people are not going to vote/campaign in a tax on themselves when they can get ‘those yahoos in dem lefty cars’ to pay for their share. I do plan to reach out to a rep with that hybrid EPA link of actual mileage. Since it’s $$$ for the state and others states get away with it, I know it won’t matter, but gotta do it.

  23. We should be paying by the mile for road use, regardless of what you drive, or ride. Yes peddle bikes, EV scooters and all the like should pay my miles as well. If the latter do not have some kind of trip meter than charge a flat rate.

  26. I don't do that either, me and wood do not get along. I just go to Home Depot and buy them or pick something up from marketplace/craigslist. I mean, I measure 3 times and use a square and still can't make a 90 deg corner. If I went to a barn raising I'd have to cook.

  28. Are you planning on using a belt? I would look at Safariland ALS holsters if you want some form of retention without going overboard. The thumb release is pretty smooth to the draw stroke. I stay only with belt loops.

  30. The cumulative IQ of the TN State government is that of Forrest Gump. I get hitting EV’s with an added fee to make up for the loss of gas tax revenue because lord knows TDOT needs more money to build new roads rather than maintaining the ones we have, or investing in other forms transportation, but I think they are grossly overestimating the impact of hybrids on loss of revenue.

  31. I use a Desantis Thumbsnap Side Scabbard. Like you I prefer some type of retention strap. I also like a scabbard style as it holds the gun close to the body and keeps it from banging on everything while climbing on and off the tractor. Provides enough coverage to protect the gun and fairly reasonable price for a leather holster.

  32. You could always stop by the doctor's house So I've had nothing but issues with my current doctor I feel your pain It's like they are overwhelmed which I'm sure they are to an extent some of that is their own fault Due to snow days I had to take my son to a doctor's appointment I've got some irritation in my left eye anyhow I show up after I tell them what the issue is I wait 40 minutes pay my copay Dr walks in spends about 10 seconds looking at my eye and says you know this is really just not my specialty you need to see an ophthalmologist if you're having trouble with your eyes I said what do you mean it's not your specialty so you just get me in here to take my f****** copay and send my insurance company a bill for $350 I said what kind of b******* is this mind you I've had just about enough of the current state of things when it comes to the medical profession insurance etc I just had a physical in the beginning of December and one of those mail order poop examination deals for colon cancer or the early signs We've already discussed a positive result now I got to have the camera up the poop shoot anyhow she says oh and it looks like your colon test was negative I looked at her and said you just called me last week and said it was positive we've already scheduled an exam oh that's right I'm sorry look here I said you don't have a f****** clue do you then she proceeds to tell me s*** I already know in front of my 10-year-old who generally doesn't come with me and we have already discussed what all of this means so now my kid is like Dad you might have colon cancer I didn't Tell him because there are a lot of false positives if and when I would obviously Sorry for the rant but I feel your pain I think it's going to be cheaper to kidnap a surgeon and a general practitioner and keep them on hand for when we need them than to go through this b******* lol

  34. This stuff, unfortunately happens. I help administrate a medical practice and through fault of my own, have had times when a patient was waiting for a doctor I couldn't get to the site. I always aim to provide notice before the day of the procedure so hospitals can reschedule the patient before they come in, but my success rate isn't 100%. Hopefully they can get you a reschedule date ASAP. That's what you should press for so you know when your son will get what he needs. The hospital then and there might not know why the doctor didn't show up, so hopefully it was for an understandable reason. Doctors get sick too, and you surely don't want them working unsafe. They have family members pass away unexpectedly and have to attend to that. Sometimes their partners are the one calling out, and if your one procedure was sacrificed to make sure three patients at another facility could be taken care of, that's the cold hard math sometime. But you're surely owed an apology for the sake of decency, and the quickest availability they have for the procedure for the sake of patient care. As to the money, if this doctor or his practice won't be doing the procedure, talk to the same folks you gave payments to for the physician and the hospital, and push for a refund on each. That might start the ball rolling on the reschedule if you tell them you want the money back or a schedule date.

  36. Good morning! Finally got my sight hood and original front sight block off plate put on and wanted to post some pictures. Manufacture date is year ~2000, the barrel was shortened before I got it. I added the Williams peep sight from a .35 Remington Marlin I had at the time, as well as the Galco bullet holder. Might be my favorite rifle! This got me into reloading as you can save about as much as dies cost at around 20 rounds if I recall. I've loaded some 500-grain T-Rex killers and it is quite the kick!
