  1. Stopped in to see if ammo had came in but it had not. But they had 3 boxes of 7.62x51 at $19.99 per box so I got one. Went back to the gun counter and they received a truck but hadn't opened anything. So I hung out for about 30 minutes while he went through them to see if they had any Ruger 10-22's. I've been wanting one for my daughter and always miss the shipments. Sure enough!!! $199 with wood stock, which is what she wanted. Can't wait to surprise her tonight!!

  2. Liberals always follow a set script. why? because marxism is a set script.  There are a finite amount of ways to introduce tyranny into a free nation. the 2nd amendment counters them ALL. The best way to weaken a country who's citizens own firearms it to limit their arms, limit their firepower so that they can be subdued more easily.  I will not comply with any magazine ban. heck, I won't comply with any registration and I can't wait to do my taxes this year. when they ask me if I have health insurance I'm going to cordially invite them to attempt self impregnation. (yes, I will writht GFY, draw a box next to that and then put a check mark in it. some things, a fella will abide to get along with others. Some things he'll put up with to make his wife happy.   Some things, you'll have to kill him over.

A few posts prior, Bane was concerned about competitions already under contract, including the Ruger Rimfire Challenge Worlds Championship   Well, Ruger came through:     Hats off to Ruger! And may Bill rest in peace.   Edited to add: From Ruger schedule page (scroll down):

  9. I found a bic lighter a few months ago I had when I was in boy scouts. It still works perfect. That was over twenty years ago. I'm currently 35 years old and don't see myself living much more that twenty more. SO! I buy bic lighters and stick them EVERYWHERE. There's lighters all over the place here, plus I have a box filled with them. Chances are, there'll always be a lighter around for me. Only thing else I do is keep a flint and steel, pitchwood and steel wool in a tinderbox in my BOB.

  10.   There are other implications, as well.  For example, if one were thinking, "If we can just survive until these current zombies are all either eradicated or, hopefully (eventually) become so decomposed/dessicated as to no longer be a threat then we can start to rebuild," then the whole 'everyone is infected' thing really throws a monkey wrench into the works.    That is because, unless a cure is found, there can be no end to the zombie outbreak.  All subsequent generations of humans will have the virus and every woman who gets pregnant will be risking a miscarriage turning into a zombie eating its way out.  Friends/loved ones will have to be shot in the head ASAP upon death while anyone and everyone who dies with no one around to take care of that comes back as a zombie (even in a settled/'civilized' society that would be plenty - imagine what it would be like in a post-zombie world.)  IOW, there is no outlasting the zombie plague because as long as people are alive the virus lives.

  11. Well my daughter Riley was born 3/19/13 at 0110 she was 8 lbs 12oz and 24 inches long!! I'm 6"4 and my wife is 6"1 so she has some growing to do haha. We 're here at vandy in the nicu, she had some trauma to her head from the suction thing the doctor used, and her cord was wrapped twice around her neck. It wasn't pulled tight, and she wasn't blue or anything just tangled up. She is doing much better now and the swelling on her head has gone down....iv had about 4 hours sleep in the past 2 days. They also have been cooling her core temp. Kinda like an induced hypothermia it basicly makes the body send blood to the vital organs in the body that may have been starved of oxygen during birth due to the chord being wrapped around her neck. I bought her a pink .22 a while back from gander a while back and iv got lots of rounds sealed up so when she gets old enough we can get out in the yard and I can show her how to shoot just like my dad did me!!

  12. I have long said Obama is not the problem. He can do very little on his own. It is all our representatives that refuse to listen to us and are more worried about themselves than those they represent or even the country.   That is why I will NEVER vote for another encumbent as long as I feel my representative is not representing me. If that requires a vote for a Democrat, Republican or Independent so be it. I would rather take a chance on someone I do not know than vote for someone who has proven to put themselves ahead of me or my country.   Dolomite

  22. Please understand that your request will be met with skepticism, since most common sense folk know that a simple photo can be made to project good or bad, depending on the photographer.  I'm no professional photographer, but if Ghandi was still alive I could take seemingly innocent photographs of him during a set which could make him look like a saint or make him look menacing.  Now, you're talking about photographing gun owners in their homes for the purpose of a private project of yours.  I assume you understand how easily one could make us responsible gun owners who believe in the right to use force to protect ourselves and our families look like gun toting lunatic vigilantees.    The fact that you're from New York doesn't help your cause.  I know that not all New Yorkers are pants wetting hoplophobes, but it is one of the big 3 states that believes in removing weaponry from the hands of law abiding citizens.  I can only assume that the majority of your citizens fit the category of pants wetting hoplophobes since they keep getting elected there.  So again, forgive our skepticism; it is only because, in the south, common sense is still pretty common.

You are a valuable asset to this forum.  Don't let any naysayers shut you down. It's easy for any of us to get caught up in the emotion of the times and the struggle we are up against. Just remember that there are some on this forum that click on every post we see you have made.

  26. Ok, forget I said anything at all. When academics do research that they say supports gun control, people call them communists who are driving policies of those out to get our guns. When you hear about academic research that is the opposite, it's irrelevant. Whatever. Fine. Obama, DHS, FEMA, the UN, and liberals are coming to get you guns and nothing else in the world matters. You feel better? I'm getting very tired of even trying to inform people of anything. You folks are right, I suppose. No sense passing this info along to other gun owners to share and educate those riding he fence. Public opinion doesn't matter, so I guess the reason the AWB was dropped in the Senate was really a diversionary tactic so that Obama can use all the hollow point pistol ammo to wage martial law and start gun confiscations.

  38. Against the 5+ MS13 gang bangers armed with AR-15s and holding  two hostages, last shot being from behind a barricade at 50 yards because one of them is wearing body armor? Sadly undergunned with my revolver. Might as well not even go outside, I am a dead man already.   Against a lone meth head jumping out from behind a van at 10'  in the WALMART parking lot? Five shots of .38 +P will most assuredly suffice.   As my community is a quiet, rural little county seat well away from any big city diseases, the second scenario is the one I prepare for. I feel quite comfortable with a 642 in the pocket.   As for gangbanger invasions, the biggest crime you can commit in my county is the dreaded "You ain't from around here are you?" and the chance of an out of down group getting further than i mile into the county before seeing blue lights is almost nil. What I need to get ready for is a lone local boy going over the edge on meth.

  40. Wheelgunners are totally outgunned.  Revolvers are slow to use and very difficult to reload.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLk1v5bSFPw   Yeah, I know - most of us are not Jerry Miculek.  Heck, even he has said that the reload was partly luck and I don't think we would be carrying a custom, competition revolver for daily self defense.  This is presented more as the extreme of what is possible.   My real point is that if a normal, non-superhuman shooter trained with their more or less off the shelf revolver to be 1/10th as fast (meaning 12 shots, with a reload, in under 30 seconds) - heck, even 1/20th as fast (which would be 12 shots, with a reload, in under a minute) - they would still be doing pretty well and likely reloading their revolver as quickly as the average shooter can reload a semiauto.   Of course, given my theory that, for a non-Leo or non-military, high volumes of fire - much less the need to reload - happen mostly on television and in tactical fantasy camps, that factor probably doesn't matter as much as the proponents of the 'faster reloading' semiauto would like to believe.  The first five or six are just as fast from a wheelgun as from a semi.  Maybe even faster.   Now, if you want to really see slow, uncoordinated shooting, look at this guy and his extremely outdated single action revolver:  He should probably just stick with cutting hair (no joke - I've seen this guy on a couple of shooting shows and for his 'real job' he owns a salon - not a saloon, a salon - and is a hair dresser.)   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9AJzv8gb2A

  41.   Point 1:  That is like saying that anyone who argues that a Ford Mustang is better than a Mazda Miata is grasping at straws and nostalgia.  In other words, nonsense.  Neither is necessarily 'better' - it all depends on one's preferences, experiences, needs and situation.   Point 2:  That is like saying that chocolate is better than vanilla, period, the matter was settled long ago and that there is nothing left to argue about.  There is no such thing as unequivocal fact in this discussion as it is largely opinion and preference driven.   I like revolvers better.  Generally speaking, I shoot revolvers better.  As for 'trust' issues, it is my belief that a revolver can jam (although it is very unlikely) but a semiauto, at some point, will jam.  Period.  The semiauto might be 100% reliable in and of itself but can still jam due to ammo issues or other factors.  I believe that the likelihood of such a jam increases as the size of the pistol gets smaller relative to power.  IOW, a pistol that is in roughly the same size class as a J-frame revolver - especially in anything over .32acp - is going to be more likely to jam than a full sized pistol of the same caliber.  As many people are daily carrying these smaller guns, I think that is definitely a factor to consider.  I also think that the idea that your average shooter could clear an ammo malfunction jam in a semiauto, especially a small semiauto, under pressure while being shot at or otherwise attacked, faster than that same person could simply pull the trigger again on a revolver is simply unrealistic.   So, in a full-sized gun a semiauto might have a slight edge over a revolver (although I don't believe that edge is as great as you do.)  In a 'pocket' gun, however, I think the wheelgun takes the lead in most situations.

  42. I would say hold off on shooting until the craziness ends. The reason ammo is being sold at 300% markup on Armslist is because people are paying it, and that is the same reason ammo will remain out of stock. So long as people are willing to pay stupid prices, bubba will wait in line at Walmart so he can turn around and sell it to you. If people chilled the hell out for a second and just stopped paying stupid prices it would all go back to normal. Bubba would have to sell the ammo back at relatively normal prices because he can't have hundreds of dollars tied up in ammo.... smokes and Natty Lite ain't gonna buy themselves ya know.

  43. I always do a lower 1/3 co-witness of my BUIS using any red-dot (Aimpoint, EOTech) and my rear sight is always in the up position. Anything out past 300-400 yards - - - I seem to revert to the irons. Maybe its because of the way I started...., shooting iron sights at the 600 yard line might just be in my shooting DNA.

I remember being in Iraq sometime around 04-05 and getting letters from an elementary school class from anywhere, US.  Some of them had drawn pictures of Soldiers holding weapons and such.  Makes me wonder how 10 years later that is an offense worthy of suspension or expulsion.  Americans are losing their minds.

  46. This is happening worldwide. It is not an American, a Colorado, or even a California phenomenon. The Socialists are patient and whether you like to think it or not they are smart. They already have control of the language and the world financial markets (IMF, World Bank, Federal Reserve). So it's really not a question of "if" it can happen. It's already happened.
