  1. Stopped in to see if ammo had came in but it had not. But they had 3 boxes of 7.62x51 at $19.99 per box so I got one. Went back to the gun counter and they received a truck but hadn't opened anything. So I hung out for about 30 minutes while he went through them to see if they had any Ruger 10-22's. I've been wanting one for my daughter and always miss the shipments. Sure enough!!! $199 with wood stock, which is what she wanted. Can't wait to surprise her tonight!!

  2. Liberals always follow a set script. why? because marxism is a set script.  There are a finite amount of ways to introduce tyranny into a free nation. the 2nd amendment counters them ALL. The best way to weaken a country who's citizens own firearms it to limit their arms, limit their firepower so that they can be subdued more easily.  I will not comply with any magazine ban. heck, I won't comply with any registration and I can't wait to do my taxes this year. when they ask me if I have health insurance I'm going to cordially invite them to attempt self impregnation. (yes, I will writht GFY, draw a box next to that and then put a check mark in it. some things, a fella will abide to get along with others. Some things he'll put up with to make his wife happy.   Some things, you'll have to kill him over.

A few posts prior, Bane was concerned about competitions already under contract, including the Ruger Rimfire Challenge Worlds Championship   Well, Ruger came through:     Hats off to Ruger! 9. I found a bic lighter a few months ago I had when I was in boy scouts. It still works perfect. That was over twenty years ago. I'm currently 35 years old and don't see myself living much more that twenty more. SO! I buy bic lighters and stick them EVERYWHERE. There's lighters all over the place here, plus I have a box filled with them. Chances are, there'll always be a lighter around for me. Only thing else I do is keep a flint and steel, pitchwood and steel wool in a tinderbox in my BOB.

  10.   There are other implications, as well.  For example, if one were thinking, "If we can just survive until these current zombies are all either eradicated or, hopefully (eventually) become so decomposed/dessicated as to no longer be a threat then we can start to rebuild," then the whole 'everyone is infected' thing really throws a monkey wrench into the works.    That is because, unless a cure is found, there can be no end to the zombie outbreak.  All subsequent generations of humans will have the virus and every woman who gets pregnant will be risking a miscarriage turning into a zombie eating its way out.  Friends/loved ones will have to be shot in the head ASAP upon death while anyone and everyone who dies with no one around to take care of that comes back as a zombie (even in a settled/'civilized' society that would be plenty - imagine what it would be like in a post-zombie world.)  IOW, there is no outlasting the zombie plague because as long as people are alive the virus lives.

  11. Well my daughter Riley was born 3/19/13 at 0110 she was 8 lbs 12oz and 24 inches long!! I'm 6"4 and my wife is 6"1 so she has some growing to do haha. We 're here at vandy in the nicu, she had some trauma to her head from the suction thing the doctor used, and her cord was wrapped twice around her neck. It wasn't pulled tight, and she wasn't blue or anything just tangled up. She is doing much better now and the swelling on her head has gone down....iv had about 4 hours sleep in the past 2 days. They also have been cooling her core temp. Kinda like an induced hypothermia it basicly makes the body send blood to the vital organs in the body that may have been starved of oxygen during birth due to the chord being wrapped around her neck. I bought her a pink .22 a while back from gander a while back and iv got lots of rounds sealed up so when she gets old enough we can get out in the yard and I can show her how to shoot just like my dad did me!!

  12. I have long said Obama is not the problem. He can do very little on his own. It is all our representatives that refuse to listen to us and are more worried about themselves than those they represent or even the country.   That is why I will NEVER vote for another encumbent as long as I feel my representative is not representing me. If that requires a vote for a Democrat, Republican or Independent so be it. I would rather take a chance on someone I do not know than vote for someone who has proven to put themselves ahead of me or my country.   Dolomite

  22. Please understand that your request will be met with skepticism, since most common sense folk know that a simple photo can be made to project good or bad, depending on the photographer.  I'm no professional photographer, but if Ghandi was still alive I could take seemingly innocent photographs of him during a set which could make him look like a saint or make him look menacing.  Now, you're talking about photographing gun owners in their homes for the purpose of a private project of yours.  I assume you understand how easily one could make us responsible gun owners who believe in the right to use force to protect ourselves and our families look like gun toting lunatic vigilantees.    The fact that you're from New York doesn't help your cause.  I know that not all New Yorkers are pants wetting hoplophobes, but it is one of the big 3 states that believes in removing weaponry from the hands of law abiding citizens.  I can only assume that the majority of your citizens fit the category of pants wetting hoplophobes since they keep getting elected there.  So again, forgive our skepticism; it is only because, in the south, common sense is still pretty common.

  27. Thanks! I seen a couple bobbed already for about 5k. It just seemed to take away from it to me. They said its easier to maneuver and has better gas mileage, but it's just not a deuce. I love the winch on these things. I did think about getting a shop van version and making it a BA camper, still might. If I had a bigger place I'd just have the bed on a platform so I could just back under it and bolt it on, just in case.

  30. Yes, but like I said, when you have five presentations to a room full of 30+ academic types, and not one word is uttered about the need for more gun control, magazine bans, etc., chalk that up as a positive sign. Tack on the suggestion that concealed carry on college campuses may be a viable policy option, and not one person objected verbally, that is a stunner.

  31. Flying out of Memphis, saw 32 (counted them) TSA agents sitting on their dead hinneys while 4 were working the security line to get to the gates.   Interesting happening, Van Jones was going through security right in front of me.  I spoke to him, called him by name, (asked him if he was headed back to D.C.?) and he about jumped out of his skin, I got the distinct feeling he was nervous about being recognized.

  32. http://www.fireandreamitchell.com/2013/03/20/new-yorkers-now-being-given-500-rewards-if-they-report-gun-owners-to-law-enforcement/ Apparently, the NY state is giving a 500 dollar reward for anyone who owns firearms.  I had some time to kill so I called the number 1-855-GUNSNYS and reported myself.  A lady answered the phone and here's how it went:   Lady: guns new york   Me: Yes ma'am, I'd like to report a man that owns a gun...   Lady: is it an illegal gun?   me: well, I didn't see it's passport or student visa, if that's what you're asking..   lady: I don't understand, do you want to report someone that owns a gun? Me: yes ma'am- ME, MY name is Elliott and I own at least 30 of em!! I live in the free state of Tennessee..come get me! she hung up the phone. dang, she blew a sure fire bust right there.. If you've got some time, give that nice lady a call, I'm sure she's not doing anything and you can make her feel like she's actually working for her paycheck.

  33. I don't worry too much about what my bag looks like.  I have a three day assault pack for my GHB in coyote brown.  The way I figure it, I'm only going to be using this thing in a SHTF situation, so I don't really care what or who I might intimidate or make uncomfortable. That being said, I have considered getting a commercial civilian stylebag, for the simple reason, that most of them are a lot more comfortable to carry than a military style bag, since they tend to have a much better waist belt that allows you to carry most of the weight on the hips, instead of the shoulders.   Personally, reading your all's list of contents, I think you all are carrying too much. I suggest, you take your GHB out for a weekend hike or even just a day hike with a gallon of water and all the food you think you will need to get home. Weigh your bag after it's packed, along with all your food and water.  I limit my weight to no more than 30 lbs total (less is best). A third of that weight will be my food and water (a gallon of water weights in at around 8 lbs). The pack itself will weight another 4 or 5 lbs usually. So I figure I have 15 lbs to use on shelter, a sleep system, FAK, a knife, cordage, dry socks, fire kit and misc. stuff that I think I need.   While you are out, make good notes of what was used and what was not.  When you get back re-evaluate your pack contents and I bet you will lose half that stuff.  Maybe you change your GHB to suit the season.  An example is a wool blanket.  That's good for winter, but you are carrying around 5 to 10 lbs of weight.  Maybe for the late spring, summer and early fall, you trade it out for a light weight fleece bag (about a lb). They also make some lightweight winter bags, that weigh less than a couple of lbs.

  34. I did find some home defense 9mm. I didn't want to spend the 1.25 per round but wife talked me into it " just in case." I opened the box when I got to my car, missing a round! Somebody had stolen 1 round out of the box of 20! I guess somebody wanted to take the easy way out but couldn't afford ammo either.....

  37. Unfortunate.  Instead of playing arm chair quarterback, lets let this serve as a lesson that we can never be too careful and just because you got away with a shortcut yesterday doesn't mean that you will get away with it today.  It only takes one second of carelessness to cost someone their life.

  39. We live in north Hamilton County in a somewhat rural subdivision. A lady in the neighborhood got a new laser sight for her pistol and wanted to try it out at dusk.  Someone called the police and multiple cars showed up at her house.  The deputies found out what was going on.  Then they told her to keep shooting while they were there.  Apparently they wanted to demonstrate to whoever made the phone call that shooting was OK here.

  40. This. I'd keep the AR and just wait until there were funds to buy a decent bolt in a heavier caliber. I haven't voted yet but just to help seal the deal what all do you currently have gun wise? A little inventory of what you've already got would make the decision clear IMO.

  47. You need to tack together a Faraday cage to store it.   Pretty straightforward to accomplish.  You could repurpose some old ammo cans in a pinch - just remember the rubber seal will invalidate the protection - you will need to remove it and bridge the gap with some foil or something.
