Maybe the guy they "captured' aint the guy that done the shootin... There is somethin rotten here that aint come out yet.... If ya look at the google map of this area; there is lots of rugged territory to the north. Maybe they saw somethin they shouldn't have seen... This looks way too professional to me for a drug crazed redneck boy to do this shootin; but i tend to be a bit cynical and suspicious myself... I think several things are for sure....As others have wisely opined; they probably wouldn't doin a rolling bible study.... They weren't commin home from prayer meeting; nor were they (...most likely...) "....role models for the yuuths of amerika"... as that great humanitarian and philosopher jessee jackson would say... All that bein said; i don't think they deserved bein shot in the head and left dead; but, to me at least, there is somethin mighty rotten here.... I smell one of thee things;....bad company...., ....seeing that which should not be seen....,.... failure to pay... All of them are very dangerous; potentially lethal. I know this territory pretty well... I've seen some things in broad daylight there on the old highway at crab orchard that made me very nervous and concerned to see -- way too many outsiders, and they aint transplants living in the area either... You need to be armed when you are there. leroy3 points

My personal thoughts are that a POTUS can be any race, religion, orientation or whatever floats his boat provided he serves the people, is faithful to the United States Constitution, and doesn't go around making our global image any weaker than it already is. Obama has done the exact opposite of what a POTUS is supposed to do. I don't dislike him for being Muslim, I hate him for being a POS POTUS.3 points

Bunch of guys from the Hide went to Rock Castle yesterday to shoot out to 1,100 and 1,500 yards. Us .30 cal guys stuck with the 1,100 and 1,000 yard targets. Two guy w/ .338's were taking shots at the 1.500. Couple highlights of the day for our group: Retired Navy GMC came w/ his rifle zeroed at 100 and dialed up. He made a 1st round hit at 800, then we got him out to 1,000. I know he was pretty pleased with that. Ballistic Apps work! :) My son was the 1st of our group on at 1,000 in his 4th shot after figuring out the wind. We all made hits at 1,100 w/ my Savage 10BA. My personal highlight was, longest shot I have ever tried w/ iron sights. 1,050 yards with a Swiss K31. Cost me about $20 of ammo. I hit all around the target and finally got a hit at bottom of target. Glad I had a spotter for that, no way would I have got there without one. For some reason I knew I would be parked next to someone w/ a .338 laying prone! I need to spend today cleaning the dust off my rifle. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gr-s1eZRHo0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkDI6twFmDQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVkmMMnDja4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3533_DGgT8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sZVeSeOaz82 points

I don't care if the person is 7 or 107 if they are trying to kill me I will try to stop that threat. If a firearm is being used then expect the same level of force to be returned, regardless of age, in order to stop the threat. Him being 107 has about as much to do with it as the color of his underwear. Anyone can assault another, be it someone who is 7 or 107 or somewhere in between. Just because one person doesn't feel it was an assault doesn't mean it isn't an assault or that another person feels the same way. Now I might be embarrassed to admit I was assaulted by a 107 year old but it doesn't mean it didn't happen or that the person could not be charged. It also depends on the type of assault. If a 107 year old fires a gun at me then I would, as most would, feel that an assault took place. There are a lot of things that a 107 year old can do to assault another. Here he is pointing, and shooting, a firearm at innocent people who ahve a legal right to enter his house. An assault doesn't even require physical contact to be made. All that is required is for someoen to be afraid it may happen. Acting like you are going to hit someone, even if you don't make contact, is an assault. Pointing a weapon at someone IS an assault so the officers had a legal right to be there and the criminal, on the other hand, did not have a legal right to shoot at the officers. If his family, or doctors, knew he had dementia then they should have prevented his access toa firearm. Once again the fear of hurting someone's feelings lead to a more serious problem. Had they removed the firearm long ago, like they should have, it would ahve upset the elderly man but he wouldn't be dead today. As far as waiting that might have helped but what happens if he is an insomniac and never goes to sleep? How long are you supposed to tie up resources and wait to enter to do your job that you are legally allowed, and perhaps required, to do? Or what if he decides to start randomly shooting through walls and injures a innocent person. At what point do you risk innocent people to save someone who is committing serious, as in felony, crimes? The 107 year old man was committing crimes that could have easily killed others. He was a criminal and age had zero to do with it. Now his age, and any underlying mental condition, may have come out during his trial as mitigating factors but are we supposed to allow him to continue to commit crimes because he is 107 or has a mental condition? I think not.2 points

I agree Leroy. I spend a lot of time in that area and its not for the faint of heart. There is a state owned park just across the mountain called Cumberland Trail ( used to be called Blake Mountian) it's poorly maintained and very sketchy. I believe more than anything that there are multiple people involved. Not just one shooter2 points

Eh... I mean, to be fair they could have just as easily posted a headline saying that Obama is a bi-sexual wrestler. I didn't see any hard facts in either of those articles. Just accusations. Is it plausible? Well, duh. But it's also plausible that it's a smear campaign because they're not happy with the Obama Administration. And I'm not even a fan-boy.2 points

Age has nothing to do with it because a firearm was being used and the firearm is an equalizer. Being 107 doesn't make the gun any less lethal. I would be condemning the officers if the 107 year old man was trying to fight them using only his body strength but he was not, he was using a firearm that could have killed any of the officers that had a legal right to be there. Any firearm is capable of serious bodily injury or death regardless of the age of the shooter. And in this situation SWAT was warranted because you have a criminal who had previously stated that officers would have to kill him. Then the criminal shot at the initial officer (not SWAT officers) who attemped to make contact. SWAT was called out AFTER the criminal shot at the officer (not SWAT) who tried to make first contact. When the criminal shot at the officer then it required SWAT to be called for everyone's safety. And SWAT is what should have been used because they are the best trained for situations like this. They are not trained to run in with guns a blazing. They generally have a lot more training on "no shoot" situations than most road officers. In the end the officers had a legal right to be there. The homeowner did not have a legal right to shoot at them. And because of this the officers had every right, legally and morally, to stop the criminal's lethal assault on innocent people. And one more thing for those who may not know. The reason why you do not wait a criminal out is because it allows them to barracade themselves, boobytrap the entrances and better arm themselves. Any one of these things makes it more dangerous for the officers. As long as entering doesn't place innocent people in danger it should happen as soon as and quickly as possible.1 point

I went to A-H reloading looking for Unique. My luck, nada, however he was stocked with almost every powder I have ever heard of, including Varget. There were also two 8 pounders of Red Dot. WC 846 has gone up to $139 for 8 pounds. I bought IMR 4350 and Bulleye for decent prices. If you know where to go, it looks like some things are getting back to normal. However my favorite local gun has not gotten a shipment of powder in 6 months.1 point

I received this as well. The shop is a fair business and I'm sure they had to pay a premium to obtain the ammo. Their prices have always been fair and just because some people have deemed themselves the price police, I think it's patently unfair to attribute ulterior motive to a business' pricing policies without any understanding of what they may be paying to their wholesaler. If the market price really is 60 a brick then it stand to reason that Wholesalers will be the first to try and capture some of that value.1 point

I have to wonder what causes a man that is 107 to want to do this. There is a underlying cause or he is senile. sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee1 point

You know.....if you think about it this is very true. I work, provide a service for my company lets say, they pay me in promissory notes (Dollars) in return. Then I go to the Doctor, lets say, who provides a service to me, then I pay him with the promissory notes (dollars) given to me for my services to my company. So in essence I traded my services to my doctor in an indirect manner for his services to me. Ad infinitem....or ad nauseam. whichever you prefer. No...I did not sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I did have some Cabo Wabo... :yum:1 point

I would suggest that since we forgave all debts of every country in the world after WW2 that we forgive ourselves and tell the world we owe them nothing starting Jan 01, 2014. Or should they want to pay the USA back with interest, the debt's they made during WW2, I'd call it even. If I remember correctly the only country that actually repaid any debts incurred from the war was Finland. LP1 point

Good post! I personally believe that we have closer to $0. Money is fake and built on a system of fake. Goods and services are truly the only real "money". Our currency and debt are very similar to the man who built his house on the sand; it can was away at anytime. And the numbers posted prove that: more debt than dollars. sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee1 point

If Obama is Muslim, I would say he is about as much Muslim as most people are Christian, which is not very much. It has always been my belief that Obama is too much of an elitist and egotist to believe in or worship anything but himself. Obama's god is Obama.1 point

Because he was about to get hit? I don’t know I wasn’t looking into the eyes of a guy getting in my face and yelling; he was. He moved him back, which is a perfectly acceptable move, and he was attacked. We don’t know why the cops were following them or what was said outside. So “probable cause†isn’t even an issue here. The two brothers said the cops were following them and “profiling†them before they pulled into the restaurant. Why? Situations involving cops get out of hand quickly all the time. But that could have just been two citizens that had words with those guys. When you start throwing blows; you go to jail. The cops are a minority. They are white cops in a black Police Department, in a black city. They may have overreacted but got cleared because they are a minority. They may have beat the two brothers to playing the race card. If Al and Jesse do show up they better be protecting those cops. If the brother that started the attack is the one that wants to be a cop; I hope any PD that considers hiring him sees this video. If he wants to stop Police violence he can start by not filling out an application. I’m just adding comments here; I really don’t know what happened and neither does anyone else, other than the investigators that investigated this incident.1 point

Corker is a businessman so he's wired to go with the plan that brings the most returns. Hooking up with tea partiers and libertarians won't get you plum committee chairs or elite dinner party invitations. Let's hope Tennesseans have learned the lesson not to elect senators and congressmen who will "go to Washington and compromise for you."1 point

Monte Cristo and Cohiba are excellent. I'm also fond of Macanudo, Ashton and CAO. If you like aromatic smoke, you may want to consider a pipe... I switched about a year ago and enjoy it much better. It's significantly cheaper and you'll meet lots of people. When you smoke a cigar, people leave you alone. When you smoke a pipe, people come up and tell you stories about their grandfathers. I like the smoke shop in green hills... I think its Uptowns... good selection, great people.1 point
