  2. I enjoy it because ...well...I'm an azzhole. Telemarketers use a head set, not a hand set. I talk as quietly into receiver as possible all the while sounding interested. I have an air horn from a fire engine and my compressor puts out just over 150psi here at work. Get them interested but talk quietly. They will turn up,their headset so they can hear me......then, well you're smart, you know what happens next.

  3. During the next 24 to 48 hours, yours truly will be afoot or afloat inside a national park boundary, engaged in sporting activity including fishing and/or hunting, lawfully armed, and with everything else I need except a backcountry permit.   Of course I've hunted, fished, canoed, hiked and camped in these parts long before the NPS had any interest in the place.   I'll let you know how it turns out.   Thanx, Scott Bow aka ttocswob   (NSA there's your code - you can stop now)   (edit title to distinguish from movie tv show I didn't see and game I didn't play.)

  4. I was wondering around work today and playing in the hardware section when an idea struck. A compact screwdriver that uses drill bit ends. So I thought well an allen head bolt and wingnut should do the trick. The way it sits now though would only be good for screwing something in but I'm going to correct that tonight by chopping the end of the bolt and welding everything together. Once that's done I plan on drilling a small hole and gluing in a neodymium magnet in to hold the bits in. 5. Now I'm no chef but I've been working on chili for quite some time , this is my best yet. Brown up 2 1/2 Lbs. of ground chuck then drain most but not all the tasty grease. Add the ingredients in the first pic but not the box yet. The box is Carroll Shelby's chili Kit , add all the spice pack and none of the others , the Masa will thicken it up if you want to try it , the salt can be added to taste but the spice pack has some in it. Then kick in about 1/2 of the hot pepper packet. Stir until heated to your desire. Feeds about 8 normal people , or 3 gun owners..... :yum: Let me know how ya like it !

  6. One of the libs on MSNBC had a good point last night:   The GOP's efforts to trash the ACA, which went nowhere, did lead to the shutdown. Then the shutdown has been all the news, which has totally put just how bad the roll out of ACA has been on the back pages.   So ironically, the GOP has aided the ObamaCare PR machine by deflecting most of the bad press which would have hammered home just what how inept its initial implementation has been, and giving the admin time to quietly scramble to patch it up by the time the government reopens.  "After all, what do you expect when the government is shut down, things to run well?" -- that kind of spin.   And of course now with the drastic turn in some of the polling,  the GOP is desperately trying to deal, on ever changing and murky concessions, with no real lever.   My take when the dust settles: damn good thing the Republican gerrymandering machine has been so effective, or this would cost us the House in '14. But we've lost significant ground nationally -- Hildebeeste now about 5:1.   - OS

  7. I depend on tourism from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for my income.  Needless to say it is affecting me financially.  I do have to agree with Caster though.  I'll go wait tabes if I have to, it pisses me off that people, myself included, can no longer use the park but we do need to quit coddling this thing and let it die.  If this government were a human being on life support any person with a shred of compassion would have pulled the plug long ago.

  9. Saw this after I just back from the Doctor today. I am a cancer survivor. Today I went from six month checks to one year. Being diagnosed with cancer puts other “problems” in perspective; I hope none of you have to hear those words.   I am lucky that I had great Doctors, a great hospital, and technology that saved my life and made the treatment easier.

  11. No matter what they did the Republicans would and are being blamed for everything. When they quite worrying about being everybody's buddy (including the Dems and Obama) and start actually living by the principals they claim, they will win and the polls will still show them loosing. :shake:  Polls are propaganda of the media and we all know their agenda is never to back a republican, especially a conservative.   I mean come on, they are still blaming Bush for stuff.

  15. It affected me. I've had to endure copious amounts of pointless bitchin'. It's the only thing 99.7 super talk radio talks about. It's just like wheni was a kid and the president was on. Is on every channel! I'm to the point where I really don't care if the power company goes out there and pulls the meter at the White House and the bank ( of china no less!!!) puts a lock on the door. Screw em. Weak animals make meals for the strong. I'll be glad when we as a people stop sheltering this thing and put it down so we can restart/rebuild and get back to some semblance of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. There will never be happiness with the current regime who take STEAL from me because I decided I need to work for what's mine and give it to some lazy ghetto trash cuz somebudy gots to pay to raise my babies! I got a match, who's got some gas?

  18. I was up at MCSC, and the day was drawing to a close.  I decided to finish out the day in their tactical pistol range.  RSO asked me if I had ever shot there, I said "no.  He said, great, well, we have it set up in a basic 5,6,5 stage.  I laughed and let him know I had no idea what he was talking about.   Long story, short:  My first run through I dropped the mag in the second set with 3 rounds left in it (FTT - Failure To Think).  .. laughed about it, & reset - and had some great runs.  (3 "stations" with about 15 feet from one to the next)     I did miss one on my fastest two runs, but I felt like I was going at a snail's pace.  I think 22 seconds w/ one miss was my best.  I would've gladly taken 35sec with no misses, but I couldn't slow down enough.   Anyway, the RSO scoring and timing me seemed to think that - since I hadn't shot in months, and since I was shooting a stock G23, and it seemed really easy for me, this might be something I could really enjoy.   I don't make enough money for this!  I am now hooked... we'll see where this ends up.

  19. I have so many stories about hanging out at boat ramps.  Forgot drain plug, forgot to untie boat from trailer, didn't know how to back trailer, ran boat into back of truck, tried to take off full throttle with motor trimmed up, I could go on.  If you ever need something to do on a busy weekend just park at a busy boat ramp and watch the show.

Anything & Everything that Aimpoint makes is Rock Solid.    We jump out of perfectly good airplanes in the middle of the night with Aimpoints mounted up and nothing goes wrong with them.  I've seen M4s that were covered from IED attacks with the Aimpoint still mounted and working.      When it came time to gift my LEO son with an optic for his patrol rifle - - - He got an Aimpoint Pro.   And best of all it doesn't eat batteries like a EOTech.

  34. Yall remember the pic in the Sunday comics? Ya know the ones where if ya stare at it you could see a 3D image? Well I found out if you have Superior smarts you would not see the image, that is when I found out I had Superior smarts, so that is why I could not see it. I think this pic is one of those images, and we all have Superior smarts. The reason we can not see what is there. Believe it or not.

Yea, a few things needed a little attention but were some simple fixes. Nothing like the mess this guy has created for sure......jmho

  38. Oath Keepers is not something that just happened yesterday. They have been around for quite sometime and have just been under the radar for most of their existence. They have just really made the national scene in the past month of so but I guess they made the decision it was time. They consist of many different people in many different back grounds but for the most part they are retired or former law enforcement and even many active law enforcement. They are also former military and many are still active military. here are doctors, lawyers, construction workers and most other types of employments in Oath Keepers. They are not a Ruby Ridge or Waco bunch but a well oiled well organized operation and have grown in numbers at a much faster rate recently and yea they were around in the Bush years to. Like I said they are not new and not a group of extremists. They are an organization of Constitutional Oath Keepers...........jmho

  39. It's really a complex subject when you consider the scenario that would have to take place which would lend itself to such an organization, which likely have members spread out distances which would require automobiles to conduct link up, to step in and fill the "force multiplier" role; especially when they have families of their own to worry about, along with property and resources they likely want to keep protected. Let's face it, the type of person who would be in such an organization has probably prepared himself so that he has the resources on hand to survive longer than most of the population. They aren't gonna want to leave that unprotected, along with their wife and children so they can go show grease monkeys and accountants how to plan and execute ambushes. Then there is the consideration of legitimacy of such an organization. Chances are, even in a breakdown of society, many elements of local government would remain intact, to include law enforcement. Yeah, there'd be a lot of cops who would be more concerned with taking care of their families, but there would be a concerted effort to regain control, even if that is the government co-opting policing to neighborhood groups. Without some previously established influence with the local government, I don't see a bunch of guys in camouflage stepping in and being greeted with open arms. In fact, they might well be interpreted as a threat and hostile to local efforts to regain legitimate control and peace. Such a group may find itself the target of the local government and might not be very popular with the people they intend to support. With all that in mind, I also consider that the current federal and state governments would look at such a group organizing itself in such a manner as an organization they would want to keep the pulse on. Not to say that such attention from the government should discourage upstanding citizens from forming such an organization. By all means, f*** the government; this country was fought for by militias of friends and neighbors. I'm just saying that the type of people with the skills to make this legitimate are also the type of people who don't fancy being on the "radical" radar for personal and professional reasons. As far as the "fringe" comment goes, it is what it is. Yes, there are a whole lot of sane and thoughtful people who would encourage the existence of such an organization. I am one of them. But we also have to admit there are those who romanticize the concept of armed rebellion and have militantly extremist views of the government. They tend to be as logical as liberals, they just happen to exist on our end of the spectrum. Normal people, folks with the skills desired here, don't want to work with nutjobs. The problem with nutjobs is they don't know they're nutjobs and they tend to bring along more nutjobs. That attracts the kind of attention I mentioned in my first post. If an organization like this was to exist it would have to be managed by very locked on people and the vetting process would have to go thoroughly beyond a VFW membership. Kinda like the Freemasons. In fact, don't they already have the market on this cornered?
