I have some Marine friends in different cities, namely oceanside, who have started doing stuff trying to tempt this. Walking down an ally "alone" with a group of poor inner city youths coming the other way, being in the wrong stores with the types of teenagers who play these games. The difference is, they have 4 or 5 more Marines around the corner, and have every intention of kicking the #### out of some dumbasses. Not saying I condone it, and their command will be pissed when they find out. But Id love to see it when it happens. Tapatalk ate my spelling.4 points

I can't even describe how sweet it would be to see 4-5 badass Marines turn the tables and play their own game of "Break your arms, legs and face, then knock your punk ass out".3 points

Totally right, mav. It takes an adult to raise a child. Someone who has a sense of value on life and a moral character. Someone willing to stand up. Be Responsible. Take command of his or her own life and see that parenting is a big part of the answer to our current social problems. And not one of these "it takes a village to raise a child". That's pure bovine scatology. That sort of thinking is what leads to kids wandering the streets looking for entertainment. They get no guidance. Therefore, they have no direction. Just an aimless, wandering existence. Full of the "gimme" and "me, me" attitudes. Looking for instant gratification with no thought or concern to consequences to themselves or others.3 points

Poor has nothing to do with it. I as well as many others grew up dirt poor, and we turned out just fine. You had it right initially when you mentioned parental involvement, These kid's parents are more than likely worthless pieces of excrement who really don't care about anything but themselves. Granted, there are some exceptions, but I believe they are minority. While I do not have any kids, I believe that it takes a lot more than just providing food, shelter, and clothing to properly raise a child.3 points

But that’s the thing, it’s fast and brutal. Many think since we carry a gun that we have an edge. We have an edge maybe as a bystander, but not in a full on attack on us. Most would probably go down just like those people did.3 points

Just proves that doing any thing wrong will get attention, speeding is not the worst, but up there. 2nd, when you do get pulled over you were doing something wrong, just do the right thing. Be smart, not a smart ass. This could have turned into a death of a child over bullheadedness.2 points

Up until the shots were fired the officers were 100% correct. People think they can just do what they want without consequences. I hope they charge the mother with aggravated child abuse and take her kids. The son should be charged but not to anything substantial. The officer that fired should be charged with aggravated assault.2 points

Now why would they be good for home defense but not self defense in a carry gun away from the house? That really doesn't make much sense. Many like FMJ .380 as it's usually better at penetration that hollow points. Does he expect an intruder to take of their coat so you can shoot them better?2 points

No one is so good they can prevent everything or every possible attack but isn't this precisely the reason why we should always be in condition Yellow and extremely aware of what and who is around us? Isn't it also one of the reasons why we should avoid places that make attack (such as alleyways, etc.) convenient (that's why I avoid WalMart parking lots! :) )? You are right, fast and brutal and that means the attacker has the upper hand (as they always do)...but sooner or later these worthless pieces of crap that engage in this WILL pick on the wrong person and... 1. One or more of these thugs will be dead, and 2. If the person defending himself is charged I'll be donating to his/her defense fund2 points

CVA Optima .50cal Dave and others....I had a HECK of a hunt today! One of THE BEST hunts I have been on in a long time! I was hunting over a wheat/clover field about 200 yards as the crow flies from a bedding area. Its about an acre plot as well so its not too big. I was hunting out of a RedNeck Hunting Blind in a very comfortable chair. Anyways, my day started with a 3pt buck that came cruising through. I was able to glass him for a bit with my Nikon Monarch 5's binoculars. Beautiful animal! Then a lone doe came out about 15 minutes later. She was tearing into the clover. My goal this year is to only kill does to help reduce our deer heard and balance the doe/buck sex ratio. Anyways, I thought about taking her, which would be my first with a Muzzleloader, and decided not to because I was a little afraid it might be a button buck (turns out it was a doe). So I decided to wait and I am GLAD I DID! So I look up and see a big bodied deer on the edge of the woods. Nikon Monarch's indicated it was a 2.5 year old buck with 4 on one side and atypical with 2 on the other. He was STARING HER DOWN. He wanted her so bad. He ended up bedding down on the edge of the woods just watching her for like 10 minutes. THEN he got up and started making a scrape! Thrashing his antlers around on this overhanging limb, hoofing the ground and then taking a wicked piss right on the center. Then he took a few steps towards her and started grunting at her over and over. He ran like 3 steps to her and she ran a bit but still for the most part ignored him. Then once he was in the middle of the field, he bedded down again! Then more time passed and she wandered off and he followed in hot pursuit. Then I started hearing turkeys purring. A group of like 9 gobblers came out right by my stand. So awesome! Then after they ran off a group of 3 deer came out. A mom, and two fawns, one of which actually was a button buck! So I ended up taking out the mom. I cleaned her up and gave her to some Mexicans that were working on my FIL's farm house and they were very thankful and excited for her! What a hunt!!! All I had was my iphone 4s, so sorry about all the crappy photos.2 points

All that for going 16 mph above the speed limit. Sheesh. I would agree that the officers were in the right initially. However, considering kids were in the vehicle, I think the line was crossed when they started busting windows. If I was making the decisions, I pretty much agree with Dolomite. I would probably require the primary officer to undergo further training, charge the mother (although I would not take her kids if she has a clean record), and charge the son. The officer that was shooting? Well...I would throw the book at him. He has clearly proven he cannot use the proper judgement that is required to be a good officer.1 point

Pic of me hanging head in shame. When I bought my first HD years ago, I feel for the hype, I confess. I'm shallow, gullible, and shiny things get my attention. But I did learn. When helping put together a set for my inlaws, I found they had bought a cheap set from Radio Shack. Imagine the crow I ate afterwards. I told them how much they needed the wonder cables. It wasn't a pleasant evening as we watched some great pictures on those "cheapo" cables.1 point

It's a great place to go if you're interested in putting several items in your hand before making a purchase. It's a great place to go if you're looking for items that aren't as easily found in other places. It's not a good place to go if you're expecting to find yard sale prices. More often that not, I am a price shopper. I generally find it well worth the $10 to make sure I REALLY want something before I buy it online. The problem is, some people are under the impression gun shows were created as some type of swap-o-rama, where you should be able to find everyone giving everything away for pennies on the dollar. While there are always those who price their items above retail, I never have a problem finding those who are selling at "fair" prices. I've even found some great deals at below retail. Until someone opens a local retail store that allows me the opportunity to put as many items in my hand as some of the local gun shows, I'll gladly blow $10 if I'm in the market for something.1 point

I'm a former employee. I'm not telling you to not buy a TV from Walmart, TDR, but I used to unload trucks sometimes. I have seen pallets of dog food placed on top of TVs. I can't speak for the accuracy of the salesman's statement, but Walmart management does tend to keep employees out of the loop in terms of details, so I'd ask the electronics supervisor or an assistant manager.1 point

Alexander Arms factory ammo: 123 grain Lapua Scenar (you can get these velocities with 2520 powder) 24" Barrel Muzzle velocity: 2620 Velocity @ 1000 yards: 1300 19,5" Barrel Muzzle velocity: 2565 Velocity @ 1000 yards: 1270 May not be worth adding pounds to the gun. I wouldn't go below 20 though. By the time you do some load dinking for accuracy, you may not still be supersonic. The bright side is that there will be less barrel whip with a 20, so it probably won't require as much load dinking to begin with. Barrel length doesn't add accuracy. It just adds velocity, with possibly a slight hit to accuracy.1 point

Any transferrable NFA item can be transferred to an heir of the deceased now providing they can legally own it. And the transfer is free on a Form 5. It has been that way for a very long time too. http://www.atf.gov/press/releases/1999/09/090599-openletter-nfa-estate-transfers.html I can see having a trust to allow friends or family to have access to the NFA items but I have asked the ATF several times, in writing, specifically if it gives the trustees unfettered access to NFA items in the trust and they will NOT answer me in writing. I would like to see where the ATF has ruled this to be the case. Also, anyone who has access to the NFA items also has the ability to sell, transfer or destroy those items as well or at least what I have been told by a couple of attorneys I spoke to when I was considering a trust. And the rule change requiring fingerprinting and background of trustees is coming. And one more thing. Since the proposed law change the ATF has not been working on any NEW trust submissions. They said if they did it would require them to go back and do it again except they would have to vet the trustees. So to save work later they are not doing any work on them now. I was going to do a trust until a few of my friends didn't want any part of the NFA stuff tied to them. They are legal and can pass ANY background but prefer to keep the government out of their lives if they can help it. As far as my family they would steal everything I own in a heartbeat and sell it. I say go for it but the benefits a trust once had over Form 1's and Form 4's is about to change.1 point

Yeah, it sucked. I kept wondering why they didn't start out with the missles and plasma cannons instead of fighting. But I guess that would have made for a shorter movie. Actually they could have just set up a bunch of batteries on the coastline and shot them before they made landfall.1 point

I'm not a lawyer but I have argued with a few cops in my day. I would say a BP revolver is not a breechloader since it's loaded on the opposite end of the primer cap. In essence, the cylinder is a barrel.1 point

I'm glad that Walmart was there for my family when I suddenly became unemployed. They hired me and allowed me to be able to bring home income. I was then able to look my wife and 3 young daughters in the eye and know that I was able to put food on the table and a roof over their head. Obviously you don't have a family that depends on you, or you would have never made a statement like that. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point

Luke, I think the issue with DaveS was posting incorrect information as fact about TN law, and then when shown the exactly law he continued to argue that state law prohibited something. I had no idea on his background, and no clue on what the rules are for different types of badges on TGO. IMHO somebody with a law enforcement badge on the forum needs to be careful posting incorrect information on TN firearm laws since many users will tend to take the badge into account when reading their opinions on the law. I don't think anybody wishes to keep DaveS from giving his opinion... only giving bad facts about TN law... Lets recap... DaveS stated: 1. TN doesn't honor permits from Maine 2. TN law requires that you be 21 to carry a pistol on an out of state permit 3. TN doesn't honor all state permits only states that honor TN permits None of these statements are correct... TN firearm laws are a confusing mess on their own... the last thing we need is to have somebody spreading even more misinformation. You're entitled to your own opinions, but you can't be entitled to your own 'facts' :)1 point

If you are used to the AK and already have magazines I would get a suppressor for it. Then I would get a Glock 19 and a suppressor for it. Now that you still have over $1k left over I would get a Mossberg 500/590 then use the rest of the money on ammo and gear. The reason I think this is the AK and Glock are the most reliable guns on the market. And if you do have a problem with the Glock you can grab parts from any other Glock. Now if you don't already have an AK and the gear for it I would get an AR in 223. The reason is the AR is probably the most popular autoloader in the US so finding parts is going to be easier than any other rifle.1 point
