Let me start off by thanking TGO David and everyone else who took the time to spread the word. The outpouring was truly amazing, and I will be forever grateful. The nearly 24-hour period that passed without knowing her whereabouts was undoubtedly the most gut-wrenching and heartbreaking period of my life. I felt feelings and emotions that I didn't know I had. I can definitely live without ever experiencing those again. Without going into too many personal details; while my daughter's emotional and behavioral issues aren't something new to me, this was the very first time she's not been home when she was supposed to be. When I got the first phone call shortly after she took off from school, I was concerned enough to immediately contact the police, but I wasn't overly concerned. It was still early enough in the day, so I figured she would find her way home before I got home from work, hoping I wouldn't have known she wasn't where she was supposed to be. Greater concern started to set in when she wasn't home by the time I usually get home from work. This is when I began driving around town without any real idea where she could be. I don't allow her to associate with many of the "friends" she normally chooses, so I had only one idea of where she may have been hiding/hanging out. She wasn't there, so the concern began to intensify even more. Thankfully, I was able to get in touch with a parent who knew a little about the boy (later finding out he was one of three boys) she left with after school. With that information, I was able to find his house, names of friends, hangout locations, etc. Unfortunately, this information didn't help too terribly much. Most of it lead me too a bunch of dead ends. But at least I had more information that I started with. Still holding out hope that she would come strolling in, as the clock ticked 10:00, 11:00, midnight, I began to get very angry with everyone. I was scared. At this point, I didn't know what to do. While I am sure the police were doing everything they could, the helplessness I felt was becoming overwhelming. Again, knowing the type of people she was likely with didn't help my state of mind. Needless to say, I didn't get a wink of sleep. I was anxiously waiting all night for the school to open, hoping she would show up there, as if nothing ever happened. They informed me that all three boys showed up for school, but Ashton did not. This is about the point where those three boys were lucky that I was able to control myself from doing something very stupid. Instead, I contacted the police with this information. After an officer had a chance to speak with them, one of the boys told the officer that my daughter was with him until 9:00 p.m. the night before, until he made her leave before his mother was to get home from work. He claimed that she left on foot, and he had no idea where she was going. At the very moment this information was given to me, I went into full panic mode. This was THE moment - had I been born with telepathic powers - the lives of those boys should have been flashing before their eyes. Even though she left with them of her own free will, I couldn't help but be angry with them. The boys she was last seen with claimed to have no idea where she was, and I sure as hell didn't. Every possible worst case scenario began flying through my head. Every news story I'd ever hear or read involving a missing teenage girl came flooding in, as if I had a photographic memory. Whether I should have or not, I began debating if I should begin spreading the word, or just continue to hold out hope that she would come walking in at any second. I didn't want to get everyone worked into a tizzy, only to have her show up 10-minutes later. After quickly weighing my options, I felt like I would be better off getting the word out as soon as possible. As most of you know, she was found within hours of getting the word out. She is now home. I don't think she had planned on staying out all night, but once she caught wind that the police and I were out searching for her, she became scared. One of the boys convinced her to stay the night at his house, or possibly go to jail for running away. From what I understand, his mother works nights, so it would be easy for them to hide out. On a lighter note, I think most of you'd be surprised how few degrees of separation there are between many of us. I can't tell you how many phone calls, text messages and emails I received from friends and acquaintances who heard about this ordeal via TGO and it's members, TN Jeeps and it's members, friends and family of TGO and TN Jeeps members, and mutual (although not known to me at the time) Facebook friends of many of you. Not to burst anyone's bubble, but I believe Steelharp is the most famous of us all. I'm pretty certain I had more people tell me they read about it on or via a share from his personal Facebook page than any other. I am a friend of his on Facebook, so I knew he shared the story. But I had no idea the degree of separation was quite that slim. Again, I can't thank all of you enough. I am truly blessed to know you guys, even if most of it is via the internet. I feel a tiny bit silly for getting everyone worked up, only to have her show up hours later, but I hope this helps you understand why I felt that I had little choice at the time. Thank you!18 points

Glad she's back home TDR. Though.... these boys... they are dead yes?8 points

Glad she is home and glad it worked out. Now you need to explain how many people that you know that have guns and the willingness to hunt and search for a loved one of our members.8 points

Good ending to a bad story. Now... the little bastard that convinced her to stay the night at his house...7 points

There's a new gunshop opening in Fairview. It's called "The Green Dragon". Peeking through the window I see shelves full of goodies including reloading stuff. It's literally less than a 2 minute walk away. If I cut through the neighbors yard, I could probably do it in a minute flat. Sign says opening soon. Needless to say, I'll be down there trying to sell them on signing up to be a vendor here. Exciting!3 points

Sir; sorry you experienced that. We fight tooth and nail every year to get hunters to stop dumping their deer scraps on public land. Some folks just don't get the concept of using another method of disposal. What you witnessed is the result of a "lazy low life" so called hunter, getting rid of his trash. If you can ever catch someone doing that, get a tag number and I promise they'll never want to do it again! Report it to the officials at Prentice Cooper so they can keep an eye out. I think that is the area W/O Luper works. I'll give him a call and a heads up. Note: Please don't think all hunters do this. They do not. Only those that don't care about others and/or the environment. Dave3 points

I'm not gonna say what I'm thinking, this being on the interwebz and all. I will say, when monkeys fly outa my ass. There is a line, and it stays real fuzzy. If it ever gets clear, I'm gonna be on the right side of it. I heard once that it only takes 3%.2 points

One of the absolute best. I buy lots of stuff from them. They're as fast as BCM and Joebob. They supplied the Geissele trigger, Magupul stock, and a couple of smaller items for my current TGO build2 points

Everybody has missed the key element in the photograph. As a retired (20 years service) member of the Tennessee State Guard (after 30 years active duty in the USMC) I picked up on the name tag. Army (Regular and National Guard) wear a black name tag. The red name tag is a State Defense Force name tag. He is a member of the New York Guard, a State Defense Force. He is not a serving federal officer. As State Defense Force Officer, he has no authority or affiliation at federal level. He obviously has some previous Federal service, but right now he is not a part of the U.S. Army or National Guard. I retired and still hold a commission as a Colonel (0-5) in the TNSG, but it has no authority outside the State of Tennessee.2 points

I hunt on days I have off work. Sometimes it's hot, cold, windy, or rainy. Workin' man gotta play the hand he's dealt. I prefer other conditions but windy I like to hunt the tallest ridge top I can get on , in my experience they like to bed down up there i guess so they can see or stalk ridge tops if I can get away with it. On top the it don't swirl as bad is one reason I like to hunt up high when its real windy. I've tried to hunt out of the wind but down low and side ridges i always got busted a lot from unpredictable swirls. Even if they can't lock you down they tend to vacate the premises if they catch a wiff. I figure cause they're already spooky from stuff moving and their hearing being impaired. I'm talking 20-30mph winds. But any wind I prefer to hunt higher on ridges if I can to cut out some of the swirling wind. I hunt the wind, if I know i'll get busted easy I'll go somewhere else or use my climber to get in a more favorable position. Of course it just don't always work out.2 points

From the article: Says the dumbass who has obviously not studied enough of history to know what a 'well regulated militia' meant and means - including reading Madison's "The Federalist #46" in which is is made clear that 'militia' refers not only to every able-bodied citizen but that a 'militia' is NOT a standing military and, in fact, is the best way to keep a standing military (and a tyrannical Federal government) in check. Further, Madison referred to the ability of each and every individual citizen to own arms as an advantage Americans have over most, other nations and links that ability with the very ability to form a militia in the first place. I guess this jaggoff knows more about the intent of the 2nd Amendment than Madison did, as well (you know, James Madison- the guy who can be attributed with successfully campaigning for a Bill of Rights to be included in the Constitution and who came up with many of the concepts that inspired the points contained therein.) Honestly, I'd say that his real problem with the Second Amendment is that it basically reinforces that we, the People - not the military, not its officers and not his bosses in the FedGov - are in charge and that we have the innate right to use force of arms, if necessary, to keep it that way. Just another government lapdog hiding behind pretenses of concern for the safety of the public to advance an agenda bent on destroying liberty in the name of government control. To hell with him and his ilk. To be truthful, the real failing of the Supreme Court in that ruling is that it ruled that the government could still pass laws regulating some firearms, etc. - thereby allowing the government to infringe on the right to keep and bear arms, which is specifically forbidden in the Second Amendment.2 points

It was pretty impressive, and frankly heartwarming, to see the response to the missing daughter of a fellow.TGO'er. The WORD spread quickly and by 9.30ish am I had sent the picture to the 3 truckstops bordering I 40 here in Cumberland County, and I'm sure it was the same in other members AO. Thank God this turned out well, but this could serve as an example of co-operation and 'getting the word out' that could be used in other emergency situations.2 points

I was probably in the Army 1/3 of the time he has and I have more ribbons he does. Says a lot, especially when most officer requests go through a lot easier than the same for enlisted. If he wants to direct some violence I say go ahead but I can guarantee he will receive it ten fold. He talks about being good at what he does, orchestrating violence, but I seriously doubt he has ever personally directed any violence on behalf of anyone. Or more importantly I can assure you he has never had to deal with the effects of violence directed at him. Here is his bio: He is like a lot of blowhards out there. He spent all kinds of time going to schools without any real world experience. BTW, he is a citizen of Ireland as well as the US. Apparently he has done a lot of their national pastime, drinking. And the professional company he keeps makes me wonder about his allegiances as well. http://www.capitallinkworldcorp.com/key-associates.php And here is his contact info in case anyone needed it :yuck:2 points

Really? Well; they may have limits somewhere but they certainly haven't found them yet...this is, after all, the same NYC that just elected a self-identified socialist-communist as their mayor! As with any location, I'm sure there are true conservatives in NYC but they are clearly outnumbered and ultimately powerless to do anything constructive. Frankly, I don't give a s*** about NYC or the entire state for that matter...these people have the government they voted for and if the people are willing to get down on their hands and knees and take it without lubrication then that's their choice.2 points

Glad I am not the only one who was thinking this. Getting into this kind of deal with families is what turns minor disagreements into full-on disputes. If you want to go in this direction, either buy two parcels of land or parcel off what you do buy immediately with no debts outstanding (between you. To banks on an individual basis is OK). Recognize that each may wish to sell their parcel at any time for any reason and agree that if that happens, you'll part amicably.2 points

I'm not in Nashville, but I see them around here. Nice looking Turkish imports, but I know a couple people who have recently sent back their CZ shotguns (1 auto, 1 O/U). They put a new bolt in the auto and replaced the entire O/U gun. Great customer service, no doubt, but I prefer well-known companies with little or no customer service feedback (because no one has needed their customer service). Having said all that, I recently got a Franchi Instinct O/U. It's Italian-made and is only $150 or so more than the CZ. Ruger is re-introducing the Red Label for ~$1000-1100. I have no experience with them, but a high school trap coach friend says to run from them, old or new. Grain of salt--this is the same guy who told me to get a Browning or a Beretta if I wanted to save money. Also, Winchester re-introduced the Model 101. It's a Belgian-made FN and is roughly $1000. I handled one and loved it, but the Franchi pointed a lot more naturally for me.1 point

We can try our best to rebuild the Republican Party ourselves by getting rid of folks like Alexander and Corker. 2014 will be the first election I take part in, and I'm putting my support behind Mr. Joe Carr... we have a chance, guys. Gotta make it count. If Carr can win here in TN, then that gives a boost to non-RINOs across the nation, and it all goes on...1 point

I don't know that there will be time for civil unrest or an outright revolt - as I've said many times in this forum (and I'm hardly the only one who thinks so or has said so); this country is heading for a total financial collapse and it only takes the failure of one card out of the house of cards built over the past 100 years to make it happen. As was said above, food, ammunition and firearms...the staples of life is what matters because when the free stuff evaporates; it really will be the those who have vs those who don't.1 point
