  1. We need people like Dennis Rodman around to remind us of the greatness of this country's system and to remind us of how foolish and myopic that some sectors of the citizenry of this country are; and to remind us of the fantasy world they live in...   Rodman is an arrogant, self aggrandizing millionaire nincompoop with a chip on this shoulder who is proving to people who have eyes to see that he is a fool... He lives in a fantasy world (...with lots of other folks...) where it's still "Jim Crowe" and "KKK" time; all the while forgetting that american benevolence and capitalism allowed him to play basketball, become educated (...which, by the way, didnt work...) and become a millionaire...   It is indeed true that there was a time when there were "negro leagues" and "separate but equal"; but Rodman didn't live in it; nor do any of those who adhere to his idiotic beliefs today... I doubt that Rodman wants to go back to that time or change places with the poor gold or diamond miners in South Africa....   I say let him talk to kim junior and say all the stupid things he is prone to say.... If Dennis Rodman is anyone's hero, they are fools....He does serve however as a great example of what not to be....   I say let him keep talkin...   leroy

  2. The Tooth Brush Salesman >>> >>>The kids filed into class Monday morning. They were all very excited. >>> >>>Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk on salesmanship. >>> >>>Little Sally led off. "I sold Girl Scout cookies and I made $30" she >>>said proudly. "My sales approach was to appeal  to the customer's civil spirit and I credit that approach for my obvious success." "I sold magazines" she said, "I made $45 and I explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current events." >>>"Very good, Debbie",said the teacher. >>> >>>Eventually, it was Little Johnny's turn. 4. Meanwhile, most Americans have smart phones.... Thing is, the idea that folks may one day be fitted with some kind of RFID or other body borne information tracking technology is not far fetched, but it would be voluntary; just like all the other traceable technologies we already use like cell phones, Internet, credit/banking cards and so on. And yeah, the gov uses these these technologies for criminal investigations, and in extreme cases they indiscriminately gather data under secret court orders. However, our use of these technologies is voluntary. I have family members who don't have cell phones or email accounts and they only use cash, so the government has a hard time zeroing in on their anti-government rants they drunkenly spout around the bonfire. Meanwhile, we have TGO...

  5. Probably the easiest is a iris, not retina, scan. It doesn't use lasers or anything like that. It just takes a picture of your iris and stores a digital copy of it. I used it all the time overseas to catalog people as well as identify people as terrorists. And have I never seen it give a false reading. It would either identify or give an error. And even with an error it was just a matter of another 5 second scan. That was 6 years ago so I imagine the technology is a lot quicker and a lot better.   Implementation would be easy. Government tells you either comply or you can't have your benefits/medical/ability to fly... and 99% would line right up.

  6. Not counting the scope, I have exactly $600 into this build. Figured that isn't too bad for a range rifle that may also be used for some hunting. Lower - Palmetto State Armory blem lower (no blem found). PSA lower parts kit. Magpul grip and MOE stock. This has a surprisingly good feeling trigger on it for a factory trigger (based on my experience with a few factory ARs) I have not shot it yet, just tested trigger by holding the hammer and squeezing trigger to release. Upper is a PTAC 16 inch carbine length with 1:9 twist. I wanted a 1:7 but was not available when I ordered this. I really struggled with making a decision to order this, I wanted a bit better quality but was trying to stay on a strict budget so figured for the price and my intended use it should be fine. As long as it shoots decent I will be completely happy. The finish is not the best on this upper in places but it is going to get marked up anyways so no big deal to me. The fit was very good, did not need to use a wedge. Upper has a Midwest Industries 12 inch free floathandguard http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=450 I really like the slim feel and customization options of this handguard. It came with three 3" rail sections with one having a QD swivel mount. I mounted this on the bottom of the handguard as far front as possible so it could also function as a handstop. I have an Impact Weapon Components sling adapter for the MOE stock on the way. Still need to decide on which sling I want, am thinking a MagPul MS3. Installed a one piece gas ring and KNS firing pin retainer. I have a Badger Ordnance tactical latch to install if I can find my really small roll pin punch. That is a Vortex Crossfire II 4-12x44 with BDC mounted on a Primary Arms one piece mount. Will find out Saturday how it shoots and post back results.

  12. And if you carry a long gun, especially one of those "evil assault rifles" in a shopping mall in Tennessee I can guarantee you'll get a much less pleasant reaction that this guy got (as well you should).   If I see some idiot walking around a mall in TN with an AR or something similar I'm going to have my drawing hand on my holstered sidearm while calling the police with my free hand; concurrently looking for a place to get the hell out of this guys sight until LEOs arrive.

  16. Of course there's nonsense in there, but there was truth in there too. I key in in the truthful stuff because the nonsense is being spewed by otherwise hopeless people. I don't care about the hopeless, purposefully ignorant people. I care about the ones that make a valid point. We should listen to that.

  17. Well, I am a bit lost as to why someone who lives in GA spends so much time on the Tennessee Gun Owners forum or why it matters whether or not you "would be way more surprised to see someone with a gun case than someone with a gun on there back down here" (meaning there in GA I assume)! LOL   I don't have cases for ALL my long guns but I I most certainly have cases that I could (and do) use for my long guns and up here, or anywhere else for that matter, if I was going to walk around in a public mall with one of my long guns (although I can't imagine any reason in the world why I would do that) it would absolutely be in one of those cases.   Maybe this guy was totally innocent in intent but I can't really imaging any logical reason why he would need or want to walk around a shopping mall with an AR15 (real or otherwise) carried openly on his back..I'm thinking he either had a momentary brain fart (i.e. acted without thinking or caring about the possible consequences of his actions), or that he was specifically looking for the encounter he got.

So when u buy a cigar now, I try to find small sizes in the tins. I've had these for a while. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro v2.2[/quote] Try the Arturo Fuente short story, which is a large ring size but only 3-4" long - full body flavor but only lasts 15 min or so

  21. I too have my grandfather's old pipe. Ran across it the other day so I thought that I'd throw a pic up from this thread. I've never smoked a pipe much, just a few times when I was younger. I think I may clean this one up and go buy some pipe tobaccoo and give it a shot.

  22. I smoke a pipe on a rare occasion. Mostly burn the black cherry stuff. If I smoke a Cigar, it's going to be a Macanudo Robust or similar. That's about my limit pricewise for a stogie. If I smoke a cigarette, I buy Turkish Tabaco and roll my own. I smoke for taste, smell and enjoyment, not addiction. So I rarely smoke, but when I do, I won't fool with crap like Marlboro and all.

  23. The 22 issue has really shown the true colors of many of the gun show vendors and others.  I have used the opportunity to memorize some faces, names, and businesses that will never see another cent of my money.   Folks that before, I might have bought a gun from, or gear, or other items, as soon as I see that $75 box of 22LR I walk away.    I have skipped the last 3 shows entirely, have about decided that apart from just a small # of honest guys the gun industry is full of dishonorable and dishonest folks.   Not that I did not know it before, but I did not realize just how bad it was --- i used to think the little, local folks were just unable to get the better wholesale prices and had to run a little higher, and I felt compelled to buy a few things from them here & there to ensure that local shops stay open.  Not anymore.  The heck with those people, they can all go out of business as far as I am concerned.

  24. you have to define digital currency.   You have crypto coins, which vary from somewhat safe (still too new to have been hacked??) to the risky (total scams).  You have credit cards and paypal and so on.  You have fake money (there are not enough real $ bills of all the denominations combined to give *everyone* their entire *net worth* in actual cash if everyone liquidated at once.   All these and more are "digital" money, some safer than others.  For that matter, your stocks and bonds and more are digital too --- most folks do not get actual certificates anymore.     Basically, we have the capability to ensure that "digital" money is more or less hack and scam proof --- from time to time someone hacks the system but for the most part, it stays safe and even when it is rascaled the end owner is not hurt as the overseeing entity takes the loss.     3) There are all sorts of implants.  My wife is likely to have one soon, as she is on a nasty drug called baclafin (spelling?) that, when it reaches a certain point, is often administered from an implant.  There are tons of others from fake knees to pacemakers and more.  It does not *have* to mean some sort of RFID or other ID.   ACA is the size of wikipedia nearly, it has sections on EVERYTHING even remotely related to health.    4) That leads to my next point.  We do not NEED implanted RFID end of times OMG its satan chips for currency.  Cell phones FIT THE BILL.  It can be traced and tell the tracer where you currently are.  Many have cameras that can be tapped as well.  It can be used for money via the web.   The only thing missing is it is not inserted into your body, yet.   People willingly haul these things around, knowing that it gives the govt and businesses 100% privacy invasion of their life.   We don't need a govt mandate to insert a tracer or ID, we just need moar angry birdz to trick people into BUYING the item and happily carrying it around 24/7.    Chew on that for a while and get back to me.

  25. Unless you have stacks of cash around; you already have digital currency. RFID chips? Maybe, but they won’t be put there by the government. Some of you guys crack me up with the stuff you come up with. What makes you think the government has any desire to track you or implant anything in you? Biblical teachings? Okay this has to be good; let’s hear it.

  27. I have what I would say is a good supply of 22lr ammo and I totally refuse to buy from scalpers so I don't plink as much as I use to but I will shoot a little at the range with my pistols about once a month and what I shoot I can normally replace in real stores and not scalpers. I hope the day comes when all the scalpers get stuck sitting on car loads or 22lr's and almost have to give them away to get rid of them and in the end lose all the profits they made gorging people who bought from them............jmho

  38. I love my pipes!  Started many years ago, and turned into an avid collector/smoker.  I wanted a broad based collection, so instead of concentrating one brand i went as diverse as I could.  Not sure how many I have but I'm sure its over 100 by now.  Everything from low end 'basket" pipes to high end (to me) pipes that cost several hundred a piece.  Oddly enough, my absolutely favorite smoker is an italian pipe that I found at the Tobacco Road Pipe Shop at the old Harding Road Mall back in the 90's.  It was a basket pipe that I paid less than 30 bucks for. Ive got  American mades, Canadians, Danish, German, English, French, Italians, and probably others  but   I smoked my pipes in rotation and I always looked forward to smoking that one the most.  Of late, Ive suffered from some respiratory problems, probably related to my prior cigarette use and also being grossly out of shape, so Ive not smoked my pipes in a long while.  I miss them though.  Sometimes I want to keep them in case I start up again, at other times I think about selling therm.  What I may eventually do is find a young fella who is into pipes but dont have a lot of money and make a gift of them.  that would be a nice thing I think, to enable  someone who has desires but not the means to experience some great smoking pipes.

  39. Open carry is not legal if the simple act of open carrying can result in an arrest for disorderly conduct. The Texas legislature (or any state where that is the case) needs to straighten that mess out.

  40. I had one of the Daisy pump pellet rifles as a kid.  Granted, all that time shooting was with 12-16 yr old eyes, but within it's lethal range (20-30 yds?), it was a tack driver.  Sub 1" groups with the stock iron sights were cake.  I'd routinely blow the center out of a small bore rifle target with BB's.  Many a matchbox car or green army man met it's demise.  And if the shotgun effect was desired, drop a dozen or so BB's down the bore, and viola!  Instant shotgun.    The modern GAMO air rifles should be even better.  I've been thinking about getting one for quite a while to use as pest control in my suburban back yard.

  47. I was in Walmart a few days before Christmas. I stopped by sporting goods and seen a line of about 10 or so people. From the looks of it most were picking up guns. There were some 22 on the shelf as well so who knows. I was looking at some scopes when I seen some adults act awful. Well a mother, and her son who didn't look 10, were there picking up his Christmas present. He was getting a nice bolt action 22 which was probably his first "real" gun. After the background they began ringing up the purchase but before they paid they asked for a few boxes of 22. They weren't getting all of it but you wouldn't know it based on how the adults were acting. The second she asked for the two boxes a universal "huff" came from the crowd followed by comments about how it was BS followed by a lot if whispering. It was enough that the mother was looking around to figure out what was going on. Hopefully the kid didn't catch on but the mother sure did. I say this because something needs to give when adults are bitching about a kid getting a gun and ammo.
