  1. Killing someone, however justified should not be cause to make someone a celebrity.  To have someone seeking and embracing celebrity status after shooting someone should be abhorrent to anyone.   The fact that they would televise these thugs beating one another probably says something about the state of our society at large.

  2. I've been shooting with my daughter since she was 4. I've made a few posts about her shooting out to 1000 yards. I will admit that if you don't know us, it is hard to believe that she shoots and handles a firearm as well as she does. At the end of F-Class season last year I took her to shoot a 600 yard match. She took 4th and was beaten by only masters and high masters. That match gave her the confidence to shoot in the first 1000 yard club match of this year at AEDC. The conditions were terrible for a first time shooter. 15 mph winds and heavy gusts approaching 30 mph. I shot my relay as fast as the target pullers could get the target back up so that she could have the maximum amount of time for hers. It took about 7 shots for her to get on, but she never lost her composer. Once she got on, she ran the gun like a champ. Although we both put up some rough scores, she went on to take 3rd place. I know it's only a club match, but seeing 3th place next to her name meant the world to her. I've been telling her that the manner in which she conducts herself at a match will command more respect than the scores she puts on the board. I believe she earned a little that day.

  3. As a side note, the white, heterosexual, 'Merica loving pundits who are feigning outrage over Coke taking liberties with this commercial ought to Google Katharine Lee Bates, the author of the lyrics to America the Beautiful. Though she identified as a Republican most of her life, she wouldn't be welcome in today's GOP. She "lived" with one of her fellow Wellesley professors, Katharine Coman for more than 25 years. How's that for a historical fun fact?

I actually like this one better than the last one. 16" overall and it is stupid fast in hand. Started life as a 28 oz Estwing framing hammer. Tapatalk ate my spelling.

  6. In my opinion, this ad represents exactly why America is beautiful.    This noble experiment that is our country does one thing that no other nation in world has ever managed to do.  We can take the world's tired, poor and huddled masses and turn them into Americans.  Wander the streets of New York and watch the immigrant Sihk cab driver working 20 hours a day.  Go to the fields on the west coast at harvest time and watch the immigrants who have come here illegally - with no small amount of personal risk to better their families.  Stay in any hotel in America and try and count more than one hand worth of non-immigrants working past the front desk.  Go put your boots on the soil of any third world country and talk to the common man on the street, who regardless of their leaders' rhetoric would give everything they own right now to come to America.   This is what makes America great, and it's something we're in danger of losing.  Our political parties love nothing more than to divide us into factions, and nothing makes that easier than spreading distrust of people who aren't like us.  Our "pundits" are getting rich off of selling a message of fear and hate.  It's cancerous, and it will affect us as a country.  Don't believe it?  Watch an hour of Fox News and keep a running tally of the stories that are based in something other than fear.   If we're going to find our way forward as a country and make the next two and a half centuries better than the last, we're going to have to find a way to embrace each other - even when they don't look like us.

  13.   Well many folks do, and this is the reason why.  For example, Penn also supports the right to drink alcohol.  He has very strong opinions about the prohibition.  At the same time, he's never had a drop of alcohol in his life.  He has no idea what it tastes like and has no idea what the sensation of drunkeness is like.  He also supports the right to take drugs that are currently illegal.  He has never taken drugs before; he doesn't believe in it.   So, the point is you can support a person's right to do something, such as drink, do drugs or own a firearm without actually believing in the act of doing so or participating in the act of doing so.  It is kind of in line with his quote in my signature.  You have to be able to put your personal beliefs aside and acknowledge that other people may believe different, and those beliefs are every bit as valid to them as your beliefs are to you, and so long as those beliefs do not directly infringe on the rights of others then we should defend those beliefs.   For all we know Penn and Teller are pants wetters around actual loaded firearms.  Not the point.  They still believe in your rights regardless of their personal hang ups.  If only a majority of Americans could be the same.

  14. I prefer Lee dies to other brands. I dislike needing an allen wrench to adjust a die, and Lee dies are the only brand I've yet to break a decapping pin in.   I didn't say anything about rolling in money, but we are more comfortable than when we first started out, as I expect most people would be.   As for the Dillon. I still have no desire for a progressive press. A single stage does exactly what I want.   I got my money's worth many times over out of that press. I was joking about "Cheap Lee stuff". Someone usually chimes it with it in any thread about Lee, and I just beat them to the punch. Lee makes inexpensive reloading equipment that just plain ole works.

  15. I have been looking at 308/7.62 cans for a while and finally ordered one.  I found this test to be beneficial and others may find it usefull as well.  I did select the SWR Specwar 7.62, not just because it was the best in these tests, but everything I have read on them has been great and the price was right for me.  I also know Silencerco is a good company.  The little extra size and weight of the Specwar doesn't really bother me, but it may some.     I think they are probably all good cans, but if you are looking for a 308 can, this is probably worth a watch.    I do agree with something Mike posted in another thread and that is that numbers don't tell the whole tail.  I am hoping mine is as good as the reviews make it out to be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=XWo0JGqWw7w

  17. Two things come to mind... The first, America the Beautiful is NOT our national anthem. It's just a f*cking song. The second, America, along with our English speaking cousins in the UK, Canada (for the most part.) and Australia, are the only assholes in the westernized world that are monolingual. It should NOT be a f*cking point of pride. Especially when the majority of people that speak English in the world don't even speak it as a first language. (Nor do they live in the US. Literally EVERYONE EVER speaks the language.) So maybe exposure to languages OTHER THAN English ISN'T a bad thing, maybe it's not a terrorist act, and it more than likely won't degrade the patrotic fibers which are apparently the only thing holding this country together.

  20. I just saw this on Facebook and was going to post it but you beat me to it. I know some have argued that we shouldn't boycott going to Chicago or NYC etc. just because of their politics, well i'm still not going to those cities mainly because of their unconstitutional politics and attitudes. Screw them. I wouldn't doubt that I would be harrassed because I have an M-16 tatoo on my forearm over U.S.Army and I have a deep country southern accent and I would probably make it worse by telling the person giving me grief what he/she can go do with themselves. Besides, i've said before i've seen it from the window of a plane and Chicago doesn't have a damn thing to offer me. Screw Chicago, Screw NYC, Screw San Francisco etc. I will not be visiting them ever.

  21. I think the reason Dillon presses have the rep they have is due to the fact that they will consistently put out quality ammo at a fast rate. Their priming system and powder measure system is one area that they really shine (IMO) and the priming station is where I hear of others having issues. I guess my point is, Dillon to my knowledge makes no claims about being indestructible or that the press or parts of the press will never wear out but the do say that if if ever needs anything at all they will take care of it free of charge to the consumer. IMO any company that stands behind their products with a no hassle warranty such as theirs is a good group to do business with.

  25. Hard for me to tear down a person that puts himself out there to support our individual liberty and 2nd amendment rights. I imagine that through his video channel outreach he has reminded many older liberals of the joy of ownership and use of knives, guns, and outdoor gear in general that they may have briefly experienced as a youth. Speaking of youth, the Web is a common tool for youngsters, many in big cities that aren't privy to the open lands of TN. Although I can't sit and watch much of what he presents, I appreciate the time and dedication he commits to the things we TGOers love.

  29. In my time it's been my pleasure to talk to a number of folks who either came here from somewhere else, or whose parents or grandparents did. One of the things that struck me is that these people came here to be citizens of the United States. One of the things that seemed to be important to them was to be able to speak and read English in order to fit in to the culture. Now we stress our differences. It seems counterproductive to me. It's like the US is becoming Balkanized.

  31. I've always thought it a weird juxtaposition of civil religion that many of our hymnals contain America the Beautiful. I love the song, and it's made me tear up many times, but it's always made me uncomfortable when it's done in church.

  32. I've been off the "can" since October 2012. Was the hardest thing I've ever quit. And I remember the date as quickly as I remember my aniversary. Took getting Wellbutrin from the doc. All I can say, is I nevermiss it, rarely think about it now, and doesn't make me want it when someone opens up a can. Best thing I've ever done for myself and I feel better now than I did 10 years ago. Trying to get a buddy of mine to quit now, but realized one thing. You gotta want to quit for it to work. Can't do it for anyone but you!

  35.   Auto bolt release is obvious improvement, but most folks don't operate the factory one correctly, so they think it's broken.   You don't operate it same way to lock back and release.   to lock: pull back bolt, hold down lever, release bolt to release: pull back bolt, press and release lever, release bolt   It's works perfectly as designed.   - OS

  44. I used that Missouri bullet for all the .357, loaded for .38 Cowboy guns that we shot in matches for years.  We used 3 of Bullseye.  It was a good reliable "beer can" load.  I also used that load to teach handgun shooting as a step up from .22s.  Accuracy wise it grouped well, under a paper plate size at 50 yards.  We changed over to Trail Boss because I found a lot of it and no Bullseye and just never went back.  I weighed & mic'ed maybe 20 out of each box of 500 and they were always consistent.   That's just my experience with them.  That said I've started to use the Tennessee made Falcon bullets.  They are exactly the same but made here. 45. I agree with ground to air retaliation. It seems people are too afraid of the courts. Id simply tell the jude that I thought it was peeping into my windows for a heist or trying to look into my gradchildrens bedroom/bathroom window in which case the guy should be thankful the drone is all I shot.

I feel like I get all the opinion I want from Jeff at gunblast in a fraction of the time. If I ever am in the mood to watch a longer video I watch hickock45.
