  3. There is virtually no reason for the police to do stops with unmarked vehicles...  Maury County Sheriff should make an announcement tomorrow that his deputies will never pull somebody over for a traffic violation in an unmarked car.  Any attempt to pull a vehicle over without a marked unit in support should be assumed to be an impersonator.   There just isn't enough reason to have 'under cover' officers in plain clothes performing traffic enforcement in any TN county to offset the risk.

  4.   I was flagging the ammo before, but now I like to have fun with it.  I now try to get them to meet by showing a lot of interest and, in some cases, offering a little more if they drive to meet me.   The guy that was selling the .22 ammo in Knoxville, i.e. 1200 rounds of Winchester for $200, told me he would even throw in another 100 round box for $200.  I now have his Name, Phone Number and email address.  I'm not doing anything with this information besides having my own file of a$$holes.   I had one guy drive up from Cleveland, TN and meet me at Gander Mountain parking lot in Turkey Creek.  The only reason I know it was him was I had his car description, so I would recognize him.  Normally I just don't show up, but that day I decided to go out for lunch.  I went to GM and saw him and his car in the parking lot, waiting.  I just went in GM and looked around.  He called me after a few minutes and asks where I was, so I told him I found a better deal and that I didn't need the ammo anymore.  Needless to say, he was a tad upset.  I received a few strongly worded emails, but that is why I use a throwaway email account to mess with these guys.   Maybe I need to add myself to my file of a$$holes.

  13. Just had shoulder surgery Thursday, so I'm hoping to be back on the shotgun in a couple o' weeks to double check the patterning...hope so, anyway :x: . I'm with Nick and Whiskey....after I get a couple in the bag with Hevi13 I'm planning on trying to behead one with some 2.5" 100 gr. Guillotines. Pretty much relegated to the crossbow, as I likely will never be able to pull and hold a bow again. Either way, I'm probably gonna be living vicariously through this little 'un. Gonna try to get her on some birds with both gun and bow at some point. She's 10 and chompin' harder at the bit than even I am. 15. The most important thing to know is, if you're talking to a recruiter, you're getting lied to. I have never met a single person that wasn't lied to by their recruiter. They will give the best case scenario and that is it. The truth is, unless you're in special ops, most of the time the military blows. You may make lifelong friends, experience comradery  you will never experience anywhere else, travel to exotic lands where you'll meet interesting people, and then kill them, but a lot of time is spent cleaning clean gear, checking oil in vehicles you checked yesterday (and the day before, and the day before, and the day before, etc. etc. etc.), and just general B.S. to keep you busy, or at least maintain that appearance to the VERY casual observer.    The thing one needs to realize before joining is that once you sign on the dotted line, your ass belongs to Uncle Sam. And he will do with you what he pleases and have no care for your opinion on the matter. And if you screw up, your ass is grass and they are the lawn mower. It can be a very thankless job much of the time, even if it is rewarding to know you're doing some good.   I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, but I want to keep expectations realistic. I had a blast sometimes in the Army, but there were also times when I wanted to sit atop a water tower with a high powered rifle laughing hysterically while I took everyone in my command structure. The only in-between emotion that I recall was sheer boredom.

  16. I can honestly say this is one of the top 3 worst episodes in show's history. I kept track, the amount of commercial time was almost equal to show time. Commercial breaks were 4 minutes long with 6 minutes of actual show before the next round.

  18. So long as they add another amendment requiring a police officer to be on duty at every playground. If they strip law abiding citizens of the right to defend themselves and their own then it should be their responsibility. If they aren't willing to fill in the gap then they have no business creating one in the first place.

  19. I'll be honest, I was really pissed off at work today. I kept thinking, I wasted prayers for these two drug dealers!!!! I still feel bad for the relatives because they did lose someone, but I hate gang bangers, I hate drug dealers, and I hate thieves! I cannot be sorry they are gone, who knows how many other people they've robbed, shot at, or even killed? Would they have turned their lives around and become model citizens? Highly doubtful, but even if they did, what did they leave in the wayside of their criminal lives....Hell, they were 19 freaking years old! All I wanted when I was 19 was enough money (from a JOB!) to take out a lil sweet thing on the weekend hopin for a lil country road romance!

The passenger does this, the driver also sticks a wet bud label on his forehead. Officer walks up looks in and says so um, you have a tail light out and have you 2 been drinking??? The driver says no officer we don't drink were on the patch... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 of course it ate my spelling.

  24. The best deals are to buy from an individual.  Businesses have to make a profit.  Individuals will take a loss, usually large losses.    It still baffles my mind, a person will hold on to a $200 gun, not negotiate one dime, but will take losses in the $1,000s on a car.  Don't make a lot of sense to me.

  25. Just got mine configured, but going to carry a copy of mine. I already carried copies of rulings about "pistol-to-rifle-to-pistol" and "constructive possession" since I toted a "kit" for a while with one lower and both rifle and pistol uppers. I also will carry the ruling about the 26"/VFG thang too since mine is currently configured that way. Additional note: Just got this baby together in current confiig, and will be changing handguard, but going to make the VFG quick detach, because under exact wording of TN statutes, I can only carry or transport a "handgun" loaded with one in chamber, or transport a "rifle or shotgun" loaded without one in chamber, and with the VFG on it, it's neither. Not that your average LEO would necessarily know the finer points of ATF rulings, but no sense having such a gray area just in case. - OS

  27.   It is exactly like that.  The last bastion of military professionalism exists in the infantry, and they're doing their best to turn that into military bearing-free zone.  I've only served in combat arms and was always baffled when interacting with persons in soft skill professions or seeing them interact with others.  I surely have a thousand stories about it.  I've never been under fire with a unit like that, but I refuse to believe that such undisciplined children could be expected to function as an effective fighting unit when they have zero respect for their NCOs, and their NCOs have zero concept of how to manage Soldiers.  Ugh.... rant off.

  31. These boys need to hear from someone how much life sucks if you enlist on a special contract that gets you immediately into high speed qualification stuff, and then you fail out.  In the Army you would sometimes come across young guys that enlisted on a contract similar to the SEAL deal you described (Ranger Indoctrination Program I think) and then flunk out of the program somehow.  They end up not being able to choose their follow-on MOS.  Meaning the Army gets to choose your job for you.  I don't know if things work the same way in the Navy.   An even bigger concern is that a young man who's enlisting would do well to figure out what kind of work, generally, he could see himself doing as a civilian.  Most guys don't have the foresight to do this; the recruiter tells them how cool it is to be a spaceship door gunner and that's all the recruit wants.  He doesn't bother to wonder how that job will translate into civilian skills later down the road.  Consequently, at the end of his first enlistment, that young guy doesn't have any real options.  He can either reenlist, or separate and become a civilian who has really cool military skills but can't get a job.   Say a young man has always been interested in police detective work, but really wants to see firsthand what the military is all about.  Ideally, he chooses an MOS that will have him doing that kind of stuff (i.e. Military Police, Military Intelligence Investigator, etc.) and enlists.  Later, by the time that same soldier reaches the end of his enlistment, he has done some detective-type service schools, gotten some letters of recommendation together, has some leadership experience, and is marketable to police forces across the country.  He has options in the civilian world.   The goal is for the soldier to have a first enlistment experience that gives him what investors call "a good return" for his time in service.

  33. Local laws and ordinances vary. Once you settle on a place check with the Police Department that would respond if someone called in on you. Regardless of what the laws are on discharging a firearm, you may have problems if a neighbor doesn’t like it.
