Yeah, the more people Obama makes feel poor the more people will probably vote for him and his promises of turning the poor into middle class. I have always said there needs to be poor and there needs to be rich as well as all those in the middle. If everyone made the same then we would all be living worse off than we do now. If tomorrow all the poor were given a million dollars then that would be the new poverty level with the liberals screaming they need more money from those who are not "poor". Everyone has the same opportunity to not be poor but the lazy ones are the ones who are content with being poor so long as they can be lazy. I have seen trailers with a blue tarp covering the 1/2 that burned and there are still people living in it. Now you never see the car leave the driveway so they are content to live in a 1/2 burned house so long as they do not have to work. Funny thing is all those programs designed to help the poor are actually programs to enslave, making them reliant upon their master to survive. The welfare programs couldn't be designed any better to enslave those the government wishes to control. ln exchange for a small amount of money those enslaved agree to give up any aspirations they might have for a better life. I know I would be pissed if I looked back at my life and realized I gave up my dreams for what amounted to less than minumum wage. We have both worked hard our entire lives to get what we have. If they want to call us poor at least I know, in my heart, I worked for what I have and in my mind that makes me a richer person than anyone who was given any amount of money.5 points

I've never given much thought to which "class" I fit into. Alls I know is that I have everything that I need, and many things that I have been fortunate enough to be able to afford, with enough to be able to donate to charity from time to time. I am not rich by any means, but because I have lived within my means and saved some money, I am comfortable. I have a family I love and they love me back. I have some good friends who I could call if I ever needed them. All in all, I am a blessed man and I would wish the same for anyone else.3 points

The bottom line for me is pretty simple. I feel I will have to work until the day that I die regardless of what someone else thinks. My house is not worth what I paid for it 9 years ago, my 401K has survived 3 recessions in 7 years, I make less than I did 10 years ago, and my current pay raises don't keep up with my increase in medical insurance much less the cost of living. I'm screwed, but so are a lot of other people.3 points

This blade in modeled after a "Bird and Trout Knife" but could be an ADC knife as well with the proper sheath. It's made of 1/8" 1095 carbon steel And the blade is about 3 3/8" and the over all length is right at 8" which gives it a nice comfortable grip. The scales are made from black canvas micarta and white linen micarta with lime green liners for contrast. The pins are nickle silver corby rivets for strength and has a SS lanyard hole. The lines you see on the blade were covered with pin striping tape prior to acid etching and the blade edge was covered with nail polish. It was etched for 20 minutes to make the "lines" stand a bit proud of the steel. It has generous jimping on the spine just forward of the handle. As always it was a lot of fun learning and experimenting and I really like this little thing. Oh yeah...it's really sharp. So I went to meet a seller today to pickup the Smith 617 we agreed on. I have been looking at them for a few years and kick myself for not getting one before they quit making them. The prices kept going up, so I finally decided I better get one before it gets any worse. So I check it out and all looks good so I give him the cash and take the gun. Before I leave, he mentions he has something he thinks I would like to see so he pulls out another S&W box. Inside is a Smith 648 which is also no longer made. At first I thought he was just showing it to me as he knew I like small caliber Smith's, but he said he would also sell it if I was interested. Needless to say I ended up coming home with two new (to me) revolvers. I have a 4" 686, but I may have to get a 6" to make a set. Now just to find some nice wood combat grips, I just can't stand the black hogue grips.2 points

I think that placing people into classes is a divide and conquer government tactic. Income classes, races, gender, sexual orientation, gun owner v/s gun banners, etc. I don't care what class I'm in. Some people I associate with consider me wealthy, while others would deem me dirt poor. It's all perspective.2 points

Hoover Hog. Damn near went extinct during the Depression. Groundhogs were of course more haute cuisine. Never had a dillo, but can tell you that whistle pigs are just fine. - OS2 points

If you like the gun, $475 is a decent price. I'd offer $450, just because... but you aren't going to get one much less than that, and by the time you've scoured the internet looking, it's probably worth the $20-40 bucks you might save to just buy from your buddy.2 points

I'd double check the recall even if he bought it afterwards. You never know how long the gun might have sat on some gunshops shelf. Better to be safe than sorry at any price.2 points

Unless I missed something, I haven't read anything that said or implied that it was the doctor's call. A doctor raising a possible issue for the family to consider is not out of line, IMHO.2 points

As Americans, we shouldn't be labeled or placed in classes. It is a political division by the so called "elites", pathetic. Me and the ol lady look at where we are, and are happy with what we have and with our life. That's all that matters, we're not loaded, but we are content. Of course the socialists are hell bent on ruining that for ALL of us.2 points

It's sat around in TN Weather for 10 + years. I've had a few boats in the past 40 years and to me the biggest issue might be the rubber water pump impeller (depending on manufacturer). It's normally located int he lower unit. Here's a couple of youtube vids on how folks go about replacing them. You're engine might be different but if you lose it out on the lake you might burn up your motor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUJP93UpCyA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiQNhFYFvdQ2 points

I just went through this with an elderly aunt that had signs of dementia. I ask my father if he got the guns out of the house; he said he did. It’s not about rights it’s about responsibility. Of course gun rights pales in comparison to all the other issues families have to deal with in these situations.2 points

Wow prices must have really dropped on those in the past few months. For a whole there those were impossible to find and super expensive. I sold mine at the end of last year for $575. As many offers as I got, it seemed to be a good deal at the time.1 point

I never thought I would have a Luger, but lo and behold, I stumbled into my local gun pusher's store one day, and there in the display cabinet was a Luger priced for a song. He said a guy just brought it in and want to sell it on consignment. As the old saying goes, "A blind hog will find an acorn every now and again. It shoots as well as any 9mm I've ever fired.1 point

Yes, a fair price. You're not "stealing it" at that price. But as Lowpower says, check the serial number and the recall dates. I forget what it is, but I think you can tell if it is a recall gun by anextra pin in the frame around the trigger.1 point
-
It's not a super deal, but it's a fair price. I've seen them as low as $465 online, incl. S&H. Add on TICS and transfer and you're looking at $485-$500 depending on your FFL's transfer fees.1 point

Favorite course for me so far is The President's Reserve at the Hermitage Golf Course. I actually laid down on the first tee box, it was like carpet. Since child number 2, I haven't been able to get my game around this year. I normally played two or three times a month. So far this year I've put three painful rounds down. Had no issue firing a mid 70's round, it's now crept up to low/mid 80's with my range time completely gone. Right now I've got: Titleiest 910D2, Diamana Kai'li stiff @ 9.5 degree Titleiest 909F3, Aldila VooDoo stiff @ 13 degree Cleveland TA1 blades, S300 stiff (2001 vintage) Titleiest Vokey wedges Scotty Cameron Newport 2 ProPlatinum (2001) cut down to 34" I collected some Cameron's and head covers back when I was working, but haven't bought one since 2005 or so.1 point

 I got serious about playing while in high school as well. I had no life so I had lots of time to practice and got pretty good at it. I've played most of the courses in the Chattanooga area as that's where I grew up. Did the junior tournament circuit for a couple years, but I play golf because its fun. Getting super competitive about it kinda sucks the fun out of it for me. I'm not much of a gear hound, most of my clubs are knock-offs and they work fine for me. The 4 wood I use is the first metal wood I ever got (yes, I'm old enough to have used real wooden woods) and I still hit it well. Even if I had the money, I wouldn't spend the big $$ on all the new stuff. Like musical instruments, it ain't the stick it's the person holding it. I will admit to splurging on a Taylor Made driver. I wanted to join the 20th century and upgrade the 25 year old one I had. I paid $50 for it used. :)1 point

So, I'm terrible at keeping things updated as you can tell. Since the last post I've gotten in my barrel, gas block, keymod handguard, Sig brace, and a couple other small things. I'm using Kies adjustable gas block, which I don't think for the money can be beat. http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Kies_CLAMP_ON_Adjustable_Low_Profile_Gas_Block_p/kies-adjgasblockclampon.htm It uses a tiny set screw to hold the gas tube in the gas block, which is an awesome touch. The only downside I see to it is it doesn't have a secondary brass set screw to lock in the gas adjustment once set like the more expensive brands like Seekins do. I'm thinking about either drilling and tapping a hole for one, or simply running red lock tite since I won't be running suppressed, once it's set I plan on leaving it. I picked up a barrel from strore.ar15.com. It's a 10.5" heavy barrel with a 1/9 twist that's nitrited inside and out. Got it to my front door for $130 shipped. It can't be the best barrel on the market for that kind of money, but for sub 50 yard work, it can't be too bad. The keymod rail is MI's SSK in 10.5". I've been hesitant to jump on the keymod wagon, this rail makes me glad I did. The Sig brace with KAK tube puts the LOP on this gun within 1/2" of what I normally run, which doesn't bother me since I'll stay nice and compact with the shorter barrel. I plan to take some detail photos and close up shots of everything this weekend, for now I've got everything together hand tight just for visual. I'm still missing a BCG and charging handle that'll come later this month. Disregard the pressure switch rail mount on the top rail, I've taken that off and I'll just be using the tailcap on the light1 point
