Truth is they could affect changes on the federal level. 1. Pass a law to make it a crime to provide any information to the federal government without a warrant signed by judge. 2. Pass a law that makes it a crime for any employee of the state or a local government to provide any material support to a federal law enforcement agency involving any firearm related case. 3. Revoke state law enforcement powers granted to all federal agents, and force them to go armed under the same rules as citizens of TN. Crazy, yes. Won't ever happen... but those 3 laws would basically turn the federal government into a toothless tiger here in TN regarding the 2nd amendment.2 points

Today I was browsing in a local pawn shop owned by a friend & happen to notice he had a German Luger in the case. This was a real beauty & has been very well taken care of by somebody. I'd call the finish at least 90% & it even had the original leather flap holster & two magazines. It was priced $1,250 so I told him it was very nice, but out of my range, but he winked & told me I could shoot it for free. I thought he was making a joke until he pulled out a box of Speer 9mm & told me to follow him outside. It didn't shoot like most old military pistols I've tried. I was amazed at how smooth the action was & how little recoil it had. We had a good time tearing a two liter bottle to shreds behind his shop. When all was said & done I was really impressed at how well it performed & it made my day to have the opportunity to try out a pistol that I've mostly only read about.1 point

I am putting is here because of a previous discussion in this forum. Just a reminder of what we have in relation to other countries and the differing views on what "justice" means. The article below is about proposals in New Zealand to do away with either (I) the right to remain silence or (ii) the assumption of innocence in rape cases. Both sides (both of which are proposing things to reduce defendants' rights) say the reforms are needed to obtain "justice" (rather than get justice for the defendant). You will notice that rape cases there have had a much easier burden of proof than we have in the US since the 1980s. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11291109 The point is that everyone has a different view of what "justice" means and how to get it. Our system is far from perfect, but I can't imagine having a system like what is being proposed in New Zealand. However, this isn't the first time the right to remain silent has been challenged in NZ.1 point

I know it's been mention before but Whittakers Guns in Owensboro Ky has some real good deals on ammo. They mainly list their incoming shipments on Facebook but for those that don't do FB you can call and ask for what you need. I just got a case of .300 BLK 220gr for $176 to my door, free shipping. That's about .88 per round which for factory ammo is really good. Anyway just thought some may need to check them out.1 point

This blade in modeled after a "Bird and Trout Knife" but could be an ADC knife as well with the proper sheath. It's made of 1/8" 1095 carbon steel And the blade is about 3 3/8" and the over all length is right at 8" which gives it a nice comfortable grip. The scales are made from black canvas micarta and white linen micarta with lime green liners for contrast. The pins are nickle silver corby rivets for strength and has a SS lanyard hole. The lines you see on the blade were covered with pin striping tape prior to acid etching and the blade edge was covered with nail polish. It was etched for 20 minutes to make the "lines" stand a bit proud of the steel. It has generous jimping on the spine just forward of the handle. As always it was a lot of fun learning and experimenting and I really like this little thing. Oh yeah...it's really sharp. The only way to gain confidence in ANY handgun is to shoot it a lot. The LCP is a great pistol, from a great manufacturer. Defects happen from any manufacturer. Once you think it's fixed, run a few hundred rounds through it.1 point
-
Any lack of confidence should be in the gun, not your abilities to break-down and re-assemble. With the new pin, you will be good to go, but I understand your concern... Years ago I had an LCR, which had a mfg'er defect - the area on the strap directly above the forcing cone began to crater. With all the research I did, I only found one other report where an owner had a similar problem. Sent it back to Ruger, they promptly replaced it. Loved that little gun, look, weight, trigger and shootability; I was 99.9% confident my new LCR would be fine and would never have the same problem again. It was the .1% lack of confidence that prompted me to sell it.1 point
-
A common problem. Ruger will send you a new pin or you can buy one of these and never have it happen again. https://www.tandemkross.com/LCP-Tool-less-Takedown-Pin_p_106.html?avad=48247_c62c6827&utm_source=AvantLink1 point

Its an OK price with no one the worse for the deal. You'll notice the .45 ACP is a bit snappish in the XDs platform but not unreasonably so.1 point

MMMMM C-rats. Spegetti and beef "chunks", beef and potatos, I especially enjoyed the hardened 1/2" thick slab of lard that setteled on the top. One of my favorites was ham and eggs, kinda like a pate made of powdered eggs, I would trade turkey or cheese or my John Wayne bar for that.1 point

The converstaion I had with Corker was, "We need to debate the issue." if one believes in the Constitution, no debate was necessary. To me, it matters what side my elected officials stand on. Plus, never underestimate the ability of the Establishment Republicans to sell us out.1 point

Years ago my father had an ongoing problem with raccoons getting into his garden... He ended up buying a lot of BBQ sauce to overcome the gamey taste.1 point

Way too hard to pick one favorite, but among the ones that I ALWAYS stop and watch EVERY time I see them on TV (even though I own them on DVD/BluRay): 1) Pulp Fiction 2) Cape Fear (with Nolte and DeNiro) 3) To Kill a Mockingbird (did you know that's Rober Duvall as Boo Radley?) 4) Boondock Saints1 point

Re-watched one of my favorites last night, Fargo the movie. Watched all the episodes of the TV show, it was pretty good.1 point

Can you top shooting your holster off of your gun? I'll be there. Warming up to shoot the Rainier match next week. Lefty--come early and help set up. It will give you some good insight and time to ask questions.1 point

A lot of times Windows Updates will detect a whole bunch of needed updates but some may be superseded by a newer version of the same update also on the list. In those cases you will see a random string of failures like this. If you really want to get into it you can track down the logs and look them over but if it isn't finding these updates again as available then my money is on supersedence.1 point

Understanding the Cloward-Piven strategy make all the government foolishness of the past few decades become crystal clear. Basically the strategy is to overload the economic sytem with debt and people living on the dole. The economic crisis will result in a political crisis and certain groups will say the only way out is a full-on socialist system. If you watch, you will see some politicians jumping the gun over relatively minor issues, so the agenda is in place. http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2010/03/24-41 point

Agreed. While our system is better than many others, it succeeds in some areas and fails miserably in others. My general opinion is summed up pretty succinctly by Mr James Hetfield....1 point

I think that placing people into classes is a divide and conquer government tactic. Income classes, races, gender, sexual orientation, gun owner v/s gun banners, etc. I don't care what class I'm in. Some people I associate with consider me wealthy, while others would deem me dirt poor. It's all perspective.1 point

I never thought I would have a Luger, but lo and behold, I stumbled into my local gun pusher's store one day, and there in the display cabinet was a Luger priced for a song. He said a guy just brought it in and want to sell it on consignment. As the old saying goes, "A blind hog will find an acorn every now and again. It shoots as well as any 9mm I've ever fired.1 point

I love to hack at it, but I don't have the time or inclination to dedicate to becoming good at it. I measure success by the number of balls I lose and the number of times my ball is used during best ball play. I played frequently when I was a cop working the evening shift. Back then I could drive the ball 300 yards in the air, but today after 2 back surgeries and a couple of decades later I'm lucky to get 300 on the ground. I have a set of Taylor Made Burners and a Cleveland wedge, but I just won a Nike hybrid a couple of weeks ago that I've yet to try.1 point

With proper documentation that it was used, and where and by whom it might be worth $800 to someone...without that documentation it's about $10 worth of metal and paint and maybe a few dollars for the work of making it into a sign. ;)1 point

according to USA Today I am a failure. My house is no where near worth 275K, I need to trade my truck for a 4X4 and and among my other failures I need to allot for a near 5K vacation. http://www.newser.com/story/190466/it-costs-130k-to-live-the-american-dream.html I guess all I can do is to try to pay my bills on time, be the best grandfather and husband I can be and try to be a stand up guy. I will never meet the other standards1 point
