1. I prefer the TGO series for gun stories.   We've got stuff here that ranges from people making fun of others for accidental discharges, then blowing holes in their roofs doing the same.  Modifying weapons to the extreme, and also how to make an AK47 pistol look like a toy gun.  Engineering to the likes of using scrap metal to build parts all the way to making your own gunpowder for reloading and making knives from scratch.   The TGO documentary is way better than anything that could ever be shown on TV

 5. I have killed probably over 100 deer in my life because our ranch was full of them so getting one was not really a hunt but more and evening or morning walk through the woods. Well, I had not hunted in about 6 years during the time I was dedicating to my son after his accident and because I was never a trophy hunter I seldom took a big deer because smaller ones tasted better and we more tender so choice of 10 point or spike and I would shoot the spike. Anyway after my son passed away my youngest son asked me to go hunting with his down on his place.     I didn't think that much about it but since I had not spent much time with him because his brother required most of my time for 5 years I agreed to go just to spend some quality time with him. He kept talking about this 14 pointer he had wandering around on his place that he had been hunting for two years but could never get a good shot at him. We got in the woods early that morning and e put me up in a camo ladder stand and right behind the stand was about 10 Persimmon trees in full fruit and ground was covered. My son was about 350 yards away up in another stand and he was far enough away he could see me through binoculars and about good sunrise I saw a deer slowly approaching me through a thicket. As it got closer my son could also see it and it was the 14 pointer. He just knew I was gonna kill his big buck.       I watched as that old man eased up to with in about 25 yards and putting his nose in the air I new he scented me. He came about 10 yards closer and nosed the air again and then all at once he just looked up at me and we stared at each other for about a good minute or two. He moved even closer and was probably 25 feet from the tree when he stopped that last time and looked up at me. Then he preceded to go eat his fill of Persimmons and was joined by 3 does. After he ate his fill and he and his ladies left the same way they came it was getting close to mid morning when my son came over to meet up with me and walk back to the house. On the walk back my son said "Dad, I think you need to get new glasses," in a joking way. I said "why son, because you don't think I saw that 14 pointer walk under the stand and eat fruits". He said "why didn't you take him?" and I said "son you know I am not a trophy hunter and I know that you want that deer so he is still here waiting for you to bag him."..............          In all honesty I don't think I would have shot a spike that morning. I watched my oldest Son fight for life and every breath for 5 years and to take somethings life for sport and of course food I didn't know if I would ever be able to hunt again and to this day I have not. I'm sure if it came to food or starvation I could hunt and kill but that is what it would take. As for anyone else I say go for it and enjoy it as I did for many years. My son still does it when he can find time and if he bags one I always get some deer burger which is all I want from one. I can do a lot with burger. I use to have 4 or 5 folks that gave me deer burger and a few guys gave me whole deer if I paid for the processing which I would get the back strips and Tenderloins out and maybe 1 or two roasts and the rest burger. I don't get much deer meat any more these days.       Part of that is because a few of my old friends have quit hunting and others don't kill as many because you cannot find many folks processing deer anymore and if you do you can't afford them. I use to pay 50.00 to get one processed then it went to $60.00. Last year I had a guy give me a deer and I am glad it was a big deer and got is processed into Burger except for the Tenderloins and back Strip and it cost me $95.00. If it had been a small deer it would have ended up costing me more for deer burger the hamburger in stores. A lot of processors have either got to high for people to pay or shut down. I know a lot of guys now are taking their deer up to the mini nites and having deer summer sausage made and some have their make the deer jerky and when they get it home they vacuum seal the jerky...............

 6. My son and I finally made it to the range to shoot the AR pistol we built using the TGO lower - most fun I think we've ever had shooting! It worked flawlessly, and was surprisingly accurate for only a 7.5 inch barrel. It was REALLY LOUD! Now I have to buy more ammo. We added a Sig Brace after taking this pic - made it much more comfortable to shoot.

 7. My son, who is a Senior this year called a little while ago to tell me about his day today. My son is in the JROTC program at his high school. Today they had an assembly to meet and greet two MOH recipients from the Vietnam War. If I understood him correctly via long distance cell call, he met two gentlemen by the name of USMC Vargas and US Army Fritz. Both gave speeches and took the time to meet and greet the Cadets. It was apparently covered by a television station so he is watching the news for a glimpse of himself.

 10. Well, not fun but I can laugh about it now. I joined the military out of Denver, CO so hunted mulies and elk. When I started hunting at my first permanent duty station at Ft Bragg, NC. I was recommended a 30/30 so went with it. My first few outings I let a few 8 pointers go by because I thought they were too small. My buddies laughed their butts off when I told them and they clued me in on easter whitetails and the rest is history.

 19.
It isn't about wishing for it to happen, this is about it being a very likely outcome as he chooses to ratchet it up. You think he will stop at body armor, rifle and yelling like a madman??? He will take this further, causing someone to have REASONABLE fear for their lives or the lives if others and he will be shot. He does not exist in a vacuum. Believe it or not, people with guns have watched the news, and active shooter events happen. How many threads are on this very damn site regarding how one would act to an active shooter? You think nobody will take him as one when he takes it to the next level? I do, and the shooter all absolutely be justified for shooting him according to the law.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd be predisposed to return a no-bill on that indictment if I was on the grand jury, not that I think it would ever make it to a grand jury. Because of his history, I would expect LE agencies in the area to familiarize their officers with him, but I wouldn't expect the average person to have any idea who this fucknut is. While I really do hate what he is doing, I don't wish harm to come to him. I just expect it to happen eventually. My prior "defense" of him had nothing to do with him or his actions and everything to do with the blatant malfeasance of the government in handling his shenanigans. 23.   Not a single person here has said "i hope he gets shot" or "i hope LEO shoots him" nor have they said he deserves to die.   What almost everyone says, is that he is constantly creating a scenario where that is a possible outcome.   I would like to say this to everyone that backs him up, and I have no apologies for feeling this way - This guy is a lunatic, every action he does creates a negative environment wherever he is doing it at.  If you all think he is just "expressing his rights", keep saying that after this moron causes so much trouble that our laws are changed to specifically address behaviors  that he is involved in.  If he keeps it up, I see a good chance that laws will be changed and then all of these bozos supporting him are going to be like "that's not fair, it's not fair".  Now we can get detained if we are only suspected of carrying a rifle in public or maybe as far as if we are suspected of carrying any gun in public, they can stop us.  Even if it doesn't stick, it'll be tied up in courts for years to come and all because of this piece of garbage.

 24. WTF!   There's some interesting information out there about this.  Apparently, they have models both with and without.  Swastikas are outlawed in Germany and Revell is a German company (or part of it is, typical corporate voodoo).  That's the extent of my research.

 25. Thanks Robert.   I too finished the "Carrington Effect" and should have posted back here before now.   You pretty much nailed it. I've read better, and I've read worse. If there hadn't been a glossary of characters in the front of the book, which I frequently referred to, it would have been a challenge for me to follow. In fact, imho, there were way too many characters. No one person, or even sub-group, were developed in enough detail to be able to create any attachment to...that's the hallmark of a good read imho.   I did complete book 9 of the 299 Days series...that's enough for me, and it actually does complete the series, even though there seems to be another book coming.   I did enjoy "The Directives", Holding Their Own Vol. 8. Not as well as previous books in the series. "Bishop" is flirting with the "super hero" character thing even more so than in the past books. Unfortunate, but I guess inevitable.   I just started "Last Stand: Surviving America's Collapse" by Weber. It appears to be well written thus far, and it's local as mentioned earlier in this thread, which I find a plus.

 28. Alright, I'll kick us off.   When I was a teenager, we used to rabbit hunt with a dog breeder and a whole cadre of his friends and family.  At one point, the dogs were running the rabbits away from my brother and I, so we just started walking down the edge of a field right off the ditch line - knowing the rabbits would eventually turn back towards us.     A few minutes later, they turned (but we didn't know it) - far, far ahead of the dogs, a rabbit busted out of the ditch line and bolted right in front of us about 10-15 feet away.  It was close enough that there would've been nothing left had we fired.  We were just letting him run.   All of the sudden we hear "Boom, boom, boom"... and the Rabbit tumbles to a stop right in front of us.  Stunned we look back behind us - up the hill.  Dr. "x", our neighbor chuckled and shouted at us, "Don't worry boys, if I shoot you, I'll sew you up!  Pick that up for me, will you?"  I think I shook the rest of the day.  He was obviously joking,... but he also meant it.

 29. The requirement for an FFL also applies only to the serialized piece that actually is considered to be "the firearm" by the FFL.  For most handguns that's the frame.  Sending a Glock slide, M&P slide, or other component that does not bear the serial number, you are not violating any laws.

 32. Not all that funny but it is the best story that I have. I didn't have much luck my first couple of years of deer hunting. On about my fourth time in the woods I was eleven and was throwing up sick after sitting there for about three hours. My dad and I decided to leave when then out of nowhere three does walked right up to me. I took the first one.

 33.   +1. I really do enjoy going to shows, browsing & meeting people (well, most of them anyway ), but my biggest problem is my location. The closest show (Expo) is about 150 miles round trip for me so figure in the cost of gas & then add an entree fee & lunch, it becomes an expensive day & burns up a lot of my spending money. It doesn't help that assholes keep sneaking in loaded firearms & ruining it for the rest of us. One was a vendor that shot himself in the hand with his Kimber .45 & less than a year later a customer shot a hole the wall with a .22 rifle that was for sale. Unless I have another reason to be in Knoxville I've probably attended my last gun show. About 99% of my gun related items, & even a lot of my guns come from online sellers.

 36. The accuser sounds like a liar TO ME. He was minding his own biz, "singing" along to some tunes, when GZ just snaps and threatens him with a gun? Sounds like his story is missing a lot of the escalation and doesn't sound feasible to me. That's not to say there hasn't been enough smoke to suspect fire where the post-Trayvon GZ is concerned. But the story presented doesn't ring true to me.

 39. I'm not calling the accuser a liar but if there's no witnesses and it's his word against Zimmermans it just hearsay. If Zimmerman is acting like that it wont be long before he's jailed or someone shoots him. I wouldn't be shocked if some black vigilante doesn't get him some day, if he was smart he would get the hell out of Florida and move to Montana or somewhere with a low black population.

I'll send her along soon.   I am with you on that, I am worried more about storms than I am full out armed defense.  Having said that, I am prepared to defend my family and home in the off chance of a home invasion type scenario.  Being retired military I have plenty of training and gear to put up a heck of a resistance even to the most determined foe, but I am no fool.  If someone wants to get you bad enough and is willing to trade their lives for yours, or its a large enough group it will be a bad day, no matter how well prepared you are.

It must suck to be so poor that you have to try and make money off of reselling .22lr. OMG!! I made $20 off of it!!!!     That guy Chris Jones I posted from Facebook recently posted that he is having an estate sale b/c he and his wife are moving to Europe to be missionaries. I hope he learns over there about morals, how it is looked at when you purposefully take advantage of people, and how it shows what kind of character you are made of.
