My son, who is a Senior this year called a little while ago to tell me about his day today. My son is in the JROTC program at his high school. Today they had an assembly to meet and greet two MOH recipients from the Vietnam War. If I understood him correctly via long distance cell call, he met two gentlemen by the name of USMC Vargas and US Army Fritz. Both gave speeches and took the time to meet and greet the Cadets. It was apparently covered by a television station so he is watching the news for a glimpse of himself.3 points

The AK ones sure seem to, but firing one of the original SlideFire stocks that my uncle has, I was able to keep it on target just fine. The cyclic is probably 100rpm slower than an M4 on full auto (if I had to guess) and it makes it much more manageable. Kinda like the slow cycle on a M45/Swedish K on full auto versus an MP5. As for the video, they put a 100 pound girl in yoga pants who can't even hold the rifle properly to demonstrate their product. If they wanted to show how it could be accurately fired with stability, they would have put a dude on there. I feel pretty insulted by that marketing ploy. If we're going to objectify women to sell men products, at least put them in something low cut so we can see their boobs jiggle.3 points

Rattlesnake Logic As long as we insist on maintaining the "moral high ground" we will NEVER win the war on terrorism. We're in a conflict in which we absolutely insist in playing by the rules against a maniacal group who have no rules. Rattlesnake Logic After the Boston bombing the news media spent days and weeks trying to determine why these men did what they did. They want to know what America did to make these brothers so angry with us. They want to know why these men were not arrested before they did something so terrible. The media is in a tizzy about this new era of homegrown radicals, and about why they could live among us and still hate us. A friend of mine from Texas explained it all to me: “Here in west Texas I have rattlesnakes on my place, living among us. I have killed a rattlesnake on the front porch. I have killed a rattlesnake on the back porch. I have killed rattlesnakes in the barn, in the shop and on the driveway. In fact, I kill every rattlesnake I encounter. I kill rattlesnakes because I know a rattlesnake will bite me and inject me with poison. I don’t stop to wonder why a rattlesnake will bite me; I know it will bite me because it's a rattlesnake and that's what rattlesnakes do. I don’t try to reason with a rattlesnake…I just kill it. I don’t try to get to know the rattlesnake better so I can find a way to live with the rattlesnakes and convince them not to bite me. I just kill them. I don’t quiz a rattlesnake to see it I can find out where the other snakes are, because (a) it won’t tell me, and (b) I already know they live on my place. So, I just kill the rattlesnake and move on to the next one. I don’t look for ways I might be able to change the rattlesnake to a non-poisonous rat snake...I just kill it. Oh, and on occasion, I accidentally kill a rat snake because I thought it was a rattlesnake at the time. Also, I know, for every rattlesnake I kill, two more are lurking out there in the brush. In my lifetime I will never be able to rid my place of rattlesnakes. Do I fear them? No! Do I respect what they can do to me? Yes! And because of that respect I give them the fair justice they deserve.... I kill them...†Maybe as a country we should start giving more thought to the fact that these jihadists' are just like rattlesnakes, and act accordingly! I love this country with all my Heart and Soul; it's OUR GOVERNMENT I'm afraid of.2 points

I've met one MOH recipiant in my life (unplanned, 1 on 1, where he had to show me his ID card to pass my post in the middle of the night, I was active duty at the time). Total chance encounter since I normally didn't stand a fixed post...I was just relieving a buddy so he could grab some chow. I knew his name, but not his face, beforehand (anyone who has served in the USAF probably knows who I'm talking about). I saw that ID card and locked up tighter than Dick's hatband (probably the crispest salute I've ever given). We talked for a few minutes and I'll never forget it. Your son had a good day and sounds squared away.2 points

After looking around the interwebs and seeing all the different stocks we eventually chose the BUMPSKI based on looks alone , but I have also seen all the do it yourself videos and actually made a cheap one myself "bumpski was 450.00" I made this one with nothing more than a bent piece of steel and some bolts It worked just as good as the bumpski. I can be pretty accurate with it and it is very controllable2 points

It does have the German cross decals for it. I understand why the Germans don't want to display the swastika and I'm not going to go through all the trouble to order the aftermarket decals from Amazon for $8.00. I guess I'll just try to enjoy putting the plane together and remind myself of my childhood. We would put these planes together, hang them in our rooms and when we got tired of them we would light them on fire and shoot them with our BB guns. Good times.2 points

[quote name="Batman" post="1190107" timestamp="1410835077"]I bought a cheapy from amazon expecting to get what I paid for. I used it for 3gun, and it worked great. I don't have an expensive one to compare it to, but it definitely reduced the muzzle rise and made for faster follow -up shots. I'll try one of the bigger names some day, but for me this one is better than a flash hider at $16.46 shipped. Dang! Well you should have at least a fat doe on the ground opening day if not one of those bucks if you want to. My buddy who hunts the same land I do has a camera out (periodically) and has quite a few does on there regularly and the only buck I've seen on it is a cockeyed spike. Right one is about 10 inches and left is about 4 and curly.1 point

I've ran the KX3 on a 7.5", and I'm currently running the Kaw Valley on my 10.5". I can tell you without a doubt that I'd never spend the money for a flaming pig again. It's heavier, more expensive, and if it does a better job of directing sound it's marginal at best. I like Noveske stuff a lot, but I won't get another pig1 point

I ordered my complete rifle build kit from there. Not a single problem. I would use them again with out hesitation. At the time I ordered my kit it said the it would take about 12 weeks to be shipped. I got tired of waiting and called them to change the options on the build and they sent it the next day. Seemed to be very nice people and easy to contact. Anytime I can call some one and NOT wait 5-10 mins before a HUMAN answers the phone is a +++++ for me.1 point

LOL Ruger. I went to my farm this past weekend. Saw a total of about 35 doe, and 4 bucks. 2 of the bucks were yearling spike/4 pts. The other 2 looks like 2.5y/o 8 points. I've yet to see a bruiser anywhere but on camera.1 point

I went out today and checked my spot and the mineral block is really getting hit! :woohoo: Not one kernel of corn anywhere, they have tore the ground up like crazy!! I know Slappy already knows but I got tore up again seeing the signs! LOL1 point

A lot was done immediately after the war that in hindsight was not really wise. In the aftermath of the war and without a strong legally protected tradition of free speech, it's perhaps understandable the steps that they took there. However, even with (and, perhaps, especially with), nationalism bubbling up here and there throughout Europe, it's time to end those restrictions. However, once government has its hands on some power, it's loathe to give it up.1 point

I'm excited because the pear tree in the field corner I hunt is loaded with pears this year! Been bare the past 3 years, seems to only produce on a 3-4 year cycle. It is always a big hit, but I didn't see any on the ground yet last Saturday.1 point

It is my understanding that the Tenifer is not the coating on a Glock. It is a clear, metal impregnation process that hardens the steel. Kinda like a teflon coating that marries with the steel on a molecular level, and to remove it you would actually have to remove some metal. I COULD BE COMPLETELY WRONG AND MISINFORMED, but I believe that is the way the Tenifer process works. So you should be able to have it blasted and coated in whatever finish you would like and still have the Tenifer intact. Maroon if you are looking for a refinisher, there is a guy I have sent some to from another forum and he does a excellent job for $50 and about a week turnaround time.1 point

I kept calling their room making believe I was the hotel mgr telling em their tv was too loud. Checked on em 5 mins later they were under the tv about 6 in from the screen. I asked why they were so close, they fessed up the mgr threatened to throw em out if thy didn't turn the tv down. I said oh ok and left. Next day I asked em who ordered 100 bucks worth of cookies as we got billed for em. Freaked em out again lol1 point

In America as of right now, it's your constitutional right to go around saying that you don't believe the holocaust ever happened, and it's everybody elses right to laugh and call you an idiot. I believe in Germany and Italy and maybe in a couple of other European countries you can be arrested and face 2 years in jail for simply "saying" you don't believe that the holocaust happened. It's kind of ironic that they would be so sensitive to their history of an evil totalitarian Reich that they would have totalitarian laws against dumb but non-threatening speech. The same restrictive speech laws just like they had in 1935 to 45. Now they treat you a little better than the Gestopo did but it's still a loss of freedom for simple speech. Of course many democrats in America would like to see the same type of restrictive speech laws under the name of "hate speech" weather it's threatening or not, a betrayal and dis-respect of our Constitution and Bill Of Rights.1 point

Personally, I love the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area, but I live in the Big South Fork National River & Recreational Area on the Scott County side. (Say that three times fast) If you're looking to get away from it all, including crowds & tourist traps, it's a dream. Hiking, camping, canoeing, horse back riding, overlooks, natural bridges, caves, & lots of peaceful scenery. There ar places you can actually go to & not see another person for days. There's not much shopping nearby (unless you really like Walmart) & the nearest large town is Oak Ridge, which is just over an hour away & Knoxville is another 15-20 minutes. Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg are about 2 hours away. The BSF National Park is a little secluded, but it's is a beautiful place to find peace & quiet. Be sure to check the link... http://bigsouthforkpark.com/ ...by the way. I live about five minutes from the welcome sign at the home page of their site. It's a beautiful area.1 point

Well, I have 17 guns out floating in the air that were stolen from my home in a burglary back in 1988 and I reported the theft by filing a police report and gave the police a description of each weapon taken, and what the serial number is on each gun and were my initials were engraved in each of them where only a gunsmith would find them and they would have to be looking for them and I call the Sheriff's office once a month every month since 1988 and not one of them has shown up anyplace of been reported as found. I even offered a $2,500.00 reward no questions ask return of the Winchester Model 12 Pump gun that belonged to my dead son that they took and that didn't even bring it out. I don't think I will ever see any of them again but in my safe is a letter to the Sheriff of Cheatham county authorizing the release of any of the guns found to my youngest son in the event of my death. Sign and notarized and he will pass the back ground check because he also has an HCP along with his wife. I hope you get your gun back Rusty.......... :up:1 point

I'll worry more about things like cancer. I realize that it is good to be prepared, but the chances of being the victim of an armed siege which I am single handedly defending, then surviving armed siege (regardless of defenses or what my house is made out of) are about the same as the same as having Jennifer Anniston show up at my front door to give me a BJ and make me a sammich.1 point

It's a 7.5" barrel with a KAK flash can on it for a total of about 11" or so. Not legally as nothing's pinned/welded. The handguard is a 9" cheapo from amazon (stay away). It works but is far from good. As to the blast I sadly can't say. Last range trip I brought it out to test and just never had the opportunity. Considering the flash can is basically a cylinder with a funnel shape opening up at the muzzle, I can see it possibly being fairly obnoxious. :D1 point
