  2. I don't post much on here, I do read and learn a lot though. That being said I thought it might be nice to let some you guys see what you talked me through doing without even knowing. This is my first build, my first AR pistol, and my first time having to determine what is legal and what is not. This is an Anderson Arms stripped lower ($71 otd at lgs), PSA LPK and M16 BCG ($158 total), a Hardened Arms 10.5" Upper in 5.56 w/ Free float rail ($240 shipped form Gunbroker), and a cheap set of flip up irons that my local shop had on the shelf for 20 bucks, They are metal and hold very well so I like them. Then finally the SBX brace from Rockwell arms($121 shipped). That is $610 total which I think is pretty good. This is my new "truck/get me home, can be carried in my back pack range toy, and I think I am in love.........

  4. Thats an insult to homosexuals. Most of them are normal, everyday working men, some of them are feminine but some are just as roughneck and blue collar as the rest of us. Hipsters on the other hand are just a giant collective of douchebags

  11. Really nice looking heater!     I echo this. More upright angled grip makes amazing different in ergonomics for a short LOP firearm. Takes all the tension off wrist/elbow/shoulder from the standard AR grip angle.   Hey, so what's that buffer tube? And looks like the SBX isn't nearly all the forward on it, but I can't tell what's setting it back?   - OS

  13. That's just wrong, you are assuming that everybody wants what you want in a 1911 and that's just not true. The sights on the 1991 I consider good for an entry level 1911 and that's what this is, not everyone needs or even wants a beaver tail grip safety and every Colt I've shot has had acceptable accuracy for what it is, not on par with my Les Baer or Rock River but good. This is not a collectors piece, it's a shooter. Buy it, shoot it, enjoy it and hand it down to your children. Kurt

  16. Back in 2009 may home was broken into and three pistols stolen, a Glock 34, Glock 27 and a Walther P22. Of course I had the police investigate and supplied then the serial numbers of the three pistols. I have several copies, both paper and electronic, of all the firearms with serial numbers I own.    The Glock 34 was recovered in Chicago in 2010. After the convicted felon that possessed it pleaded out, the police there shipped it to Knoxville police and they returned it to me.   I got a call Saturday from an officer with  the Kingsport Police Department asking about the Walther P22 I reported stolen in 2009.  Here is what the officer told me. They had a gun show in Kingsport recently and Craig's Firearms had a table there with my Walther on it for sale. A guy wanted to buy it and it came up as stolen when the background check was ran. This was reported to the police and they confiscated the gun. He needed to confirm my birthdate and address to complete his report. I asked him how a gun shop could have a gun without knowing it was stolen. He didn't know.   He gave me the name and number of the guy in the property division to make arrangements to pick up the gun from.  I'll call later today and get the details.    Maybe I'll get the Glock 27 back too at some point.

  19. All of the1911 manufacturers do it just a little different and that's where all of the Ford vs Chevy comes in. You can get more options with other makers i.e. Springfield, Kimber but that doesn't make them better, just different. It all comes down to what you want in a 1911, sometimes you won't know until you own and shoot one for a while. What I do know is that no mater how many 1911's I have, I wouldn't be happy if I didn't atleast have one Colt. The 1991 is a good solid 5" 1911 with the prancing pony on the slide, Love it or hate it Colt is still the oriiginal. Kurt

  21. the we are "better than them" around here attitude cracks me up.   I deal with "hipsters" every day at work,  99% of the ones I deal with are truly nice people to me, work and are productive, and aren't afraid of buying good product.   So they wear skinny jeans, flannel or other nice looking clothes?  Their hair is generally well kept and some have beards.   Does everyone here look down on everyone else?   It is no wonder the "gun crowd" is generally looked at as nut bags.

  26. There are no laws on what information an employer can give out (unless there is some Tennessee state law on it). Most big companies will do no more than verify employment, but that’s because it is what their attorneys tell is best to do. If you were fired for cause they can freely say what that cause was. As long as it’s true they have no problem; if it’s not true or they can’t prove it they could be sued.

  27. as far as their reputation, I can only give my opinion because I had never heard of them either. I really just took a gamble and for right now feel like I won. I could not find any bad reviews, and the one good review that had a negative to it explained that they went out of their way to make it right, and that ws simply a loose hand guard.   It came with the PSA pistol build kit. You are correct it is not all the way forward. That thing is tight as hell and I went through half of Georgia to get it that far on. I figured as tight as it is I would slide it forward to the best spot for me and stop. I am hoping with a few shots it might go on a little further lol.

  28. Well at least wearing flannel and having a beard is cool again. Like it was twenty years ago, and twenty years before that, and...   Well you get the point.    For the record PBR sucks, and it sucked back then too.

  30. The only thing that Colt has is resale value and that is not because it is better. Colt used to be the standard by which all other were judged but not anymore. I have owned Colt 1911's and every one of them were no where near as accurate as some of the other 1911s I have owned.   Its like wanting a Model T over a Lamborghini or Ferrari because Ford was the one who first made cars successful.   If you are actually going to be shooting then buy something else, something with better sights, with a better trigger and with a beavertail. If you are wanting to shoot buy something you are not afraid to use, shoot or modify to suit your needs.   Now if you are buying it to resell then buy it, wait a while then make $50-$100 on it. But I will tell you something about Colt purists (actually most purists) and that is originality is everything. You had better not remove the gun from the paper or shot it otherwise you have ruined the value to some a collectors. I have seen collectors pass on a gun because it had been shot, even very little.   So if you plan on shooting it, buy something else but if you just want to way you own a Colt, and put it away without handling or shooting it, buy a Colt.

  32. As I have only bought and not sold a firearm, when I see a firearm that has caught my eye, I go on line and search. I look at new price and used price, I do a LOT of looking. If "I" think the price is fair I will buy. I wont haggle as I have done my research. That is only on firearms, other stuff, it is on.

  36. There are underground zinc mines in and around the Carthage/ Gordonsville area, but I am unaware of the strip mines you speak of.   I understand the hole in the ozone layer acts as a natural vent to help regulate the Earth's temperature, expanding and contracting as needed.   You are correct in that Gore has spent his life making millions by perpetuating the myth of global warming, and positioning himself to profit quite nicely from the very predictable actions of fellow politicians.   He and his ilk are like a cancer to our society. They've never produced anything, and yet have made fortunes via government. I hope there's a cure before long.

  37. When I try to sell something, I automatically forget the tax and TICS I paid; that's just part of my loss. Then, depending on how many rounds I put through it, I usually start at $50-75 off what I paid. I don't like to move much off that, because that's quite a discount with no tax and TICS already. That's pretty much getting close to cost on a gun.   Now, on THIS board, lately it's gotten to where these "members" (choose your definition, lol) want Christmas presents. I don't know WHAT'S up with that. There have been several very fair priced items on here that haven't moved. I don't know if money's that tight, or just their pucker holes.   I've managed to get better prices on Facebook.

  40. I traded for this awesome knife a few weeks ago (thank you again, Gran Torino). I wanted to try and do it justice with an equally cool sheath. So, I prowled around Google images and found something I liked and copied it. Due to the size of the knife and the shape of the blade, I picked something designed for scout carry. I put shock cord on the retention strap, so the strap swings away when drawn from behind my back. I used 15-17 oz leather on the sheath and the harness and 5-6 oz leather on the pouch. The sheath without the harness is almost 3/4" thick, so it's quite monstrous, which I kind of like. No clue what I'll keep in the pouch, but that big space between the straps were begging for one to be added, so I obliged. This is my first crack at making a knife sheath. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, but I wish I'd taken more time on my edge work. Anyway, I'd love to hear what y'all think, good or bad. Comments, suggestions, and gripes are more than welcome. It may help me do better next time.

  42.   To each his own. I think it's uglier than an ugly thing that is unattractive. There's almost as much meat in that slide as on a Hi-point. I suppose that's an XD hallmark though, and the main reason I don't like them. All that extra metal makes them top heavy to me and just plain heavier to carry than what they're supposed to be competing against. Namely Glock and Smith's M&P. I had an XD subcompact which I shot as well as any other pistol (and better than some), but it was just too heavy when compared to a G26. Add in the fact that the grip length on this Mod2 "subcompact" is almost the same as a G19, and I think I'll pass.   I'm glad they decided to print "GRIP ZONE" prominently on there. Otherwise I'd have had no idea what to do with that part of the gun.
