Thanks to DaveW, I have added another member to my Beretta family. I feel that I might also be starting to attempt to compete with Graycrait on tiny guns. Beretta 21A compared to an M9 and a Model 71. 3 points

Vinyl, the best platform ever created for listening to music. I grew up spinning my mother's Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, and Bad Company records. I'm 26. :D3 points

Let me start by saying I do not believe I am entitled to anything. I also recognize the fact there are some people way worse, as far as disabilities go, than me. So what upsets me is those people who think that space with the blue and white wheelchair sign means it is for THEIR quick trip into the store. Now unless I am having a really bad day I have my wife park in a regular spot so those worse than me can use the handicapped spot. But when I am having a bad day, when every step I can avoid matters, I need to park close or just stay in the truck if can't. And honestly I would gladly walk the extra distance if I could without having issues. At one point I would ask and EVERY time I have asked if they have a placard, as I stand there with my crutches, they act like I am the jerk and even cuss me out. Because of that I have quit even asking because the entitlement crowd apparently thinks they are entitled to the space I need from time to time. I wish there was something I could do to the jerks. I was told if I parked behind them and block them in I could get in trouble. Not to mention the person would probably loose their mind. I just wish people would understand that to some of us that extra 50' makes a difference, especially those with breathing problems. Fortunately I do not have breathing problems but some do and have to stop constantly to catch their breath. Thanks for letting me vent.2 points

Take a look at "Emerald Green" arborvitae. I planted some to block the back of a privacy fence that was installed next door knowing that it would not be maintained on the back side and look bad pretty soon. They won't grow like bamboo but they will be less work and will do fine if watered and fertilized. Here are some pics of mine.2 points

The recent focus on the mentally ill is nothing more than the latest effort to find some group of people to blame for our social problems. We have stigmatized mental illness so severely in our society that people are afraid to get treatment and people who have diagnosed mental illness are treated as if they are all potentially dangerous psychotics that need to be on a constant suicide watch. If you get cancer, people rush to your side and offer support. If you are suffering from mental illness, you are ignored and whispered about in hushed tones. The fact of the matter is that mental illness is no different than other forms of illness. Most people have some form of diagnosable mental illness at least once in their life, some people have chronic mental illness that can easily be treated with medication and/or therapy, and some have very serious mental illness that causes them substantial difficulty living a content and "normal" life. Some types of mental illness are more problematic than others. We know that many members of the military who have served in combat suffer from chronic mental illness, especially PTSD. We also know that many law enforcement officers suffer from PTSD due to the cumulative effects from long-term exposure to job-related stress. Individuals in these professions are typically very hesitant to seek mental health treatment, and as a result, suicide rates in these groups are much higher in comparison to the general public. We have stigmatized mental illness to the point that those who commit their lives to protecting our society are placing themselves at greater risk for mental illness and suicide because they know they risk losing their careers should they seek treatment. I dare say that a good number of TGO members are currently taking some sort of medication for mental health reasons. The overwhelming majority of people with mental illness are not inherently dangerous to others, but our society - including our lawmakers - has labeled those with mental illness as a group to be viewed with great suspicion and constantly at risk for losing their rights. Something as simple as seeking assistance during a mental health crisis can result in an involuntary hospitalization even if the individual is voluntarily seeking help to get control of their illness before it results in suicidal intent (the question of whether the government should have the authority to forcefully prevent you from taking your own life is another issue altogether). It's time to stop treating a huge group of law-abiding people as if they are potentially mass-murderers simply because a very small number of individuals who appeared to have severe mental illness committed a violent act.2 points

I've been a serious vinyl collector since the 9th grade. with over 1300 LPs in my collection, I never got rid of my turntable. I've been using a Garrard linear tracking turntable since the mid-80's. That doesn't mean that I ignored the digital revolution. My CD collection is about the same size as my vinyl collection, but there's lots of stuff in my LP/45 collection that has never seen the light of day on a CD release.2 points

The problem with all of this boils down to stupidity. The NFA laws are stupid and people who constantly write letters to the BATFE to scratch their guilty conscience or uncertainty are stupid for doing so. If you ask the same question enough times, sooner or later you're going to get the answer you don't want.2 points

Actually we got the best Christmas present we could ever ask for. Her name is Madalynn and she was here a little early for Christmas but a Christmas baby none the less. We could not be happier to have a grand daughter to spoil. Definitely changes the way you view life. My only Christmas wish is for our son to come home and met her next month. He has been deployed since July, and missed the birth, but he should be home within a month.2 points

As long as the government gives special benefits to any group of people there will always be some who abuse it. Whether it be disability benefits , parking benefits, tax breaks, food stamps, whatever. We just have to accept the fact that any time society tries to help people, there will always be someone to abuse it. We can not stop it so we may as well spend our time worrying about something that we can change. I think I'll send a check to Knox Area Rescue Ministries tomorrow. Maybe I can actualy help change something by that.1 point

The day the courts uphold the idea that between two identically lawfully configured firearms, one is perfectly legal to possess and even to fire from the shoulder, while even possessing its twin is a felony, just because of what was in a person's mind when he constructed it, our Minority Report society wlll have truly arrived. - OS1 point

Wilson does indeed make a 18" I've seen and held one ... but I concur with Tricky, Dolomite has a ton of research and knowledge around the round. 173ABN has as well.. he makes all of mine and all I know is they go bang ;o) I've only had 8.5, 9.5 and now run a 10.5 with an adjustable GB. I've had these as well as 13.7s and several 16"s come through .. nothing longer in my experience than the 18 but sure custom can be whatever you want. All I've seen have been pistol length gas ports... I highly expect though after x inches you're not getting much anything out of the length but aesthetics. Like me, I'd prefer the 18" if I had to go title 1 but I can also do SBRs a lot easier than most of you folks... like I may just make one this afternoon for sh*ts and giggles ;o)1 point

sold the absolute last two bottles of Van Winkle in the building last night. I was assigned with the task to get them off the books so inventory could start this morning. A bottle of 12 year old bourbon and a bottle of 13 year old rye. I did not even know we had any left. I let the girl working with me sell them. She sent two texts and within an hour they were both gone. I was torn about selling the Rye. I told the boss that if it was unsold at closing time I would buy it. I had sellers remorse when it went out the door. LOL I wonder if we might get more Weller 12 this coming week. Stranger things have happened. We still have a few bottle of Stagg Jr left.1 point

Funny story. When we were leaving to Kuwait to stage for the invasion in 2003, for some reason defying all common sense, we had to take the BCG out of our M4's. Spent the whole flight with a BCG in our cargo pockets, tied off to our belt loop with 550' cord.1 point

Because it's right in front of the entrance to the location where someone called in with a emergency that requires immediate response. That usually doesn't happen unless it's a Walgreens or cvs type store going through a robbery etc....not very store has hp spots in front. Of course it could be part of the harassment process as shown in another thread ;) http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/index.php?/topic/84389-%22All-cops-ever-do-is-harrass-innocent-people%22/page__view__findpost__p__12227451 point

A word of caution though. Just because someone doesn't look like they are not handicapped does not mean they are not. There are people who have breathing disorders who appear as normal as anyone until they have an attack. And honestly if I am having a good day I might walk in the gas station without my crutches because I hate them. Without my crutches I look just fine, other than I walk like a pimp, but what they do not see is on my bad days I spend 22+ hours curled up in bed. And it literally can come on from a bump in the road, stepping wrong or picking up something I didn't think would hurt and then I am absolutely miserable. For me every day, and night, is a struggle and without my wife I am not sure what I would do. She does so much for me on a day to day basis that without her the life I live now would be impossible. Again, I would caution against automatically assuming someone is not disabled.1 point

My RIA 9mm FS Tactical and both Kimber Custom II have black sights, I use white appliance paint to put a dot on the front sights and it works very well for me. I make the white dot as tall as the the front sight is wide.1 point

First off there are going to be some people who will not be on TGO for Christmas, maybe longer. If you think it might be you I suggest you get a hold of me and promise me you are going to knock your antics off. If you are one and you do not reach out you will be gone with a capital G. I am in the holiday spirit and believe in giving people second chances but the present you get tomorrow morning will not be a pleasant one if you don't come to terms with what maintaining a good fellowship with others really means. We are a family of gun owners that should be all on the same team but as usual some of our fellow gun owners have figured out a way to divide a small group into even smaller opposing groups. We are the best at eating our own and this thread is a perfect example. Rather than live with the fact someone has a differing opinion some have chosen to use the left's favorite tactic and use name calling, personal attacks and misinformation as a means to try to convince others their opinions are all that matters. I will clue you in to something, your opinion means exactly squat when it is mixed in with attacks on others. Second, realize the original post was a message to warn fellow gun owners and regardless of who it came from I appreciate anyone looking out for me or the other members of the gun community. If you think the message is BS then say so and move on but do not try to convince everyone else that your opinion is the right opinion, that is for them to decide not you. Regardless if you love, hate or are indifferent to Costa one must realize that he probably sees more firearms in a year than anyone on this board, definitely more than anyone in this thread so far, and in the world of experts, specifically firearms experts, his experience puts him up the food chain higher than anyone here. Costa has been doing this for a very long time and seen a lot of people, with a lot of different guns, come through his classes and despite what anyone thinks about his tactics or training his experience training people makes him an expert on what is normal and what is abnormal. And as far as the 3 gun insult realize that it is civilian competitions that have generated 90% of the military tactics. It is also civilians that come up with 90% of the newest fighting gear. I know of a lot of civilian competitors who regularly teach our military on tactics. And in closing I suggest everyone get a bit of the Christmas spirit and quit arguing. During the holidays we should be coming together as a family of gun owners rather than create animosity between us. The world we live in today is an awful place and the country we live in is falling apart around us yet we are going to fight amongst ourselves about a straightened elbow. Think about how silly that is. Some of you really do need to get a life or at least some perspective because things can be a lot worse than someone having a different opinion than you. Merry Christmas1 point

This is a good step to removing the stigma around mental health. If a person needs professional help, it will be a difficult call to make anyway. Toss in the fact that they'll potentially lose their rights for life and it means some people never get the short-term help they need.1 point
