  1. Look, I know you signed up on a multitude of gun forums the same day you signed up here (Google is a wonderful tool) and it really seems that your reason for doing so is to post these videos on all of them and drive traffic up on your YouTube channel.  Don't care.   What I do care about is good information.  Stuffing cardboard into a cheap mag holder to force it to work with mags it wasn't designed for is thrifty, but not really the sort of gear you or anyone else should be trusting your life with.  This seems like a really bad idea.

  4. I don't mind gay people any more than I mind anyone else.  I don't support the lifestyle, I don't engage in the lifestyle, but what two men or two women do in the privacy of their own home is between them and God.  I just don't care to have to witness it.  Men or women.   The gay kiss and the fawning of Eric over Aaron was completely unnecessary and made both me and my wife gag.  The writers could have added gay male characters without gratuitous spit swapping and it would have been just as effective of a story-arc as what they have now.  It was done for (a.) shock value and (b.) to push the envelope of what is socially acceptable on television, period.   Anyone who wants to argue that 30-40 years ago it was just as edgy to feature interracial, white/black, kissing on TV -- for example -- is arguing from a disadvantaged position.  The parallel simply is not there from a biological perspective.  Someone else pointed out that the media is slowly shaping what the public is willing to deem acceptable, and I agree with that 100%.  Just beware that 30-40 years from now if the leftists have their way and keep eroding society's morals and ethics, someone may be having the same discussion we're having but instead of two men kissing and fawning over themselves, it could just as easily be a grown man and a 12 year old girl.   Today's taboos are tomorrow's topics of cultural diversity and inclusion unless people stand up for what's right.   The Walking Dead may have lost me as a viewer if they can't find a way to tell this story without two dudes graphically finding love inside of each other's sweaty, hairy butts.

  5. Can't wait for tomorrows excuses:    1) door frozen can't open, can't make it in 2) wind shield frozen, no scraper, can't make it in 3) brakes are frozen, can't move 4) I think the gas in my gas tank is frozen car will not start 5) driveway to slick wheels just spin, can't make it in 6) roads to slick, turning around can't make it 7) school just got canceled and my teenager needs me, can't make it in 8) it's still snowing what should I do? My response: Well I just drove through the drive in at McDonalds the ladies that just served me made it to work, your saying you can't? YES roads impassable can't make it in and BTW you have a 4x4. My response: your correct I do have a 4x4 but it was in 2WD.   I luv my job, best job I ever had!!

  6. ATF did rule against using machines that are used as part of a business. The on post craft shop is probably not considered a business. I would still try to buy a drill press it is a lot cheaper than replacing the lower you are going to ruin by half assing it.

  7. I didn't think it pushed very many boundaries. Homosexual characters have been on television for a long time.

  8.   Well said. I feel pretty much exactly like you do about the situation. I dont support it in any way form or fashion. Then again I believe we don't really have the right to tell other people how to live their lives. As you said, that is between them and god, and if it turns out to be an abominable sin, then they will have to answer for it at the pearly gates. I look at it kind of like a bad neighbor situation. You stay on your side of the fence and I will stay on mine. Dont push that lifestyle on me, which I feel is what this last episode of TWD did. They could have left the gay kiss out and not offended what I would GUESS to be well over half of their conservative, heterosexual viewing audience.

  9. Walmart sells REAL Savage bolt guns, not the Edge or Axis, for under $400 with a scope and Accutrigger. And they tend to be the most accurate rifles out of the box anymore, especially for the price. If you have some time check your local Walmart because they routinely put them on sale and you can get them for under $350.   Savages are like the 10/22 of the centerfire world. You can swap calibers at home without the need of a gunsmith. Used barrels can be bought for $50-$100 depending on what it is and new barrels can be had for $150-$200 for factory and $300 for drop in match barrels. To do a caliber swap on a Remington it will cost you $300+ in labor alone not including the barrel. Swapping barrels on a Savage takes 20 minutes while a Remington requires weeks at a smith.

  10.   Not for nothing, but the VA Secretary is recognized as a Republican, and is reported to donate exclusively to them.  He and his wife certainly gave money to that party.  Once again, we see lying is bipartisan.      It's sad.  Mr. McDonald served for five years on active duty with the 82d Airborne.  That alone, should be enough for anybody to be proud of.  There is no reason for him to try and embellish things, yet here we are.

  13.   On top of all that, the Talking Dead added "insult to injury" (for lack of a better term) by praising the show's producers and writers on their inclusion of this "touching" and "poignant" scene. A short interview with Andrew Lincoln revealed that he was also in favor of it and went on about how wonderful it was.   Let's face it - the gratuitous inclusion of graphic homoerotic scenes on television (and films, for that matter) are neither "brave" nor "ground-breaking" anymore, but that's the picture that the gay activists like to paint. Like you, David, I have nothing against any gay person. The first one I ever met was in college, and he and I were good friends and even lived on the same floor and wing of the dorm. He didn't shove it in my face (metaphorically speaking), and neither did I try to shove my beliefs down his throat. As a result of that positive experience and the mutual respect we had for each other in spite of our differences, I don't have any hostility or animosity towards anyone who's gay. I just don't want it shoved in my face and then told I'm homophobic or that my belief system is "tired" and "old" when my natural revulsion to it kicks in.   The name-calling and insults (both direct and indirect) that result from simply voicing one's disagreement with "alternative lifestyles" are childish and unproductive. Seems to me that the LGBT community has a serious PR problem; they have failed to sell themselves in a positive light to the general public, so they resort to trying to force their views down the throats of others via travesties such as so-called "hate crime" legislation and through character assassination and vilification. Remember the baker who didn't want to be associated with a gay wedding because it was in conflict with his beliefs as a Christian, and his reward for that was a lawsuit? THAT is what turns me off to it more than anything else - the expectation that somehow I MUST change my mind and discard MY beliefs or be labeled as something that I am most definitely NOT. If someone wants to be gay, it's none of my business. But when they tell me that something is wrong with me because I refuse to accept what I know is wrong, then it says far more about them than it does about me.

  15.   You may think it's a "tired old belief system", but it's still very much the majority. The moral values that a country is built on are never "tired", or "old".

  20. I finally ventured into the 1911 world over the weekend and I'm pretty happy. I put 100 rounds downrange with only one FTF. The gun even ate Gold Dot's without issue. This gun is around $100-150 more than the regular SR1911 but it comes with night sights and better grips(IMO) so I think it was worth it. Plus, I think it looks a hell of a lot better than the standard Ruger. The only negative is that the trigger leaves a lot to be desired but it's already getting better. Now I just need to find some 8 round magazines and a nice leather holster. What do you all carry your 1911's in?

  21. Light snow and a morning walk ends in a broken ankle. That's right, after 43 years and no broken bones I put three fractures in my ankle this morning. A plate and screws will be installed to repair the bones and tendon. I didn't take my phone so calling for help was a no go. My pride wouldn't let me crawl back up the hill so I walked the best I could. Every time I lifted my foot up it would turn 45 degrees and I couldn't move it back where it belonged. By the time my boot was removed a softball had replaced my ankle. So be careful and keep them phones handy.

  22.   Broke my right fibula in 09 just walking down a slight hill after rain. My foot slipped and my ankle turned and the pressure snaped the fibule. Sounded like snapping a pencil. Didn't hurt real bad right away but I had a vertigo feeling and felt naseated for a minute or two. After that passed I started feeling some pain.

  24. What do you plan to use it for? Hard to beat a good ole' Remington 700 for a bolt gun. You can get them fairly cheap used with a synthetic stock. Also available in many calibers. And later on if you want to upgrade it there are plenty of aftermarket parts around.

  32.   Additional irony: way federal law is written, is not actually illegal per se for resident in his own state to buy a firearm from seller he knows is resident of another state, unless he has reason to believe the firearm is stolen. That and previous example is why stings generally target sellers rather than buyers.   - OS

  35. Believe it or not a Star PD. Alloy frame, no friggin' grip safety and one of the smoothest single action GM type pistols I've ever shot. PIA because of the proprietary magazines it used and the small plastic guiderod buffer it required about every 1000 rounds...I shot it a lot...and carried it a lot. I sold it in the late 90's...so no pic.   rep pic: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=469804060   I've since "gone Glock" and 9mm...but it was a nice little gun. :pleased:

  39. I once fired a very hot hand load .357 maximum from a 10" contender with no hearing protection. It felt like somebody hit me in the head with a ball bat. My ears rang for 2 days. That and years of skill saws and really loud bands and both ears ring all the time. Also can't hear over 10,000 hz. Protect you hearing when you are young

  41. So I have a lower sitting around and PSA's AR9 looks interesting and got me thinking. However, I know nothing about 9mm AR's. I've seen the dedicated Glock lowers, but don't really care about that aspect. I'm really just looking for something to shoot my 9mm ammo through that keeps the AR flexibility for the future. Really liked the Uzi I had but that's another beast. So, school me on what I need to know. Are all 9mm AR uppers the same? Standard AR uppers OK, or is there a reason to get the dedicated 9mm upper? What's the deal with notched hammers? Do the adapter blocks work? Does ammo choice make difference? Barrel length? Mag options? Probably staying pistol configuration, thinking 10"? Not worried about suppressor's.

So I got my trust setup yesterday (Thank you John Wells).  I am going to setup my trust bank account today to handle transactions to BATFE.  Once I get that setup, I will be able to e-file my Form 1 to sbr my Sig P516 pistol.  Trying to talk my wife into a can for our ARs.  I am really hoping all this 41p mess gets put off a little longer into next year, or indefinitely for that matter....

  46.   John recommended it and he's our attorney.  I'll take his word.  Whether its necessary or not, doesn't matter.             As of right now, there is still no date that the official ruling on 41P is going to be announced on.  Some have said February and some have said first quarter.  But its possible that it gets pushed to Q2 or Q3 next year.  They have a ton of comments to go through in addition to the regular work that they have to get done.  I WOULD NOT worry about 41P for now.
