I was sitting here a few minutes ago when the phone rang. The gent on the other end of the line was my next door neighbor who asked if we are having a family get together this afternoon. I said "no' and he said: "OK, I just wanted to know before I cranked up my pressure washer and blew off my deck. I didn't want to fire it up if you were going to have folks over this afternoon." Boy, after getting the crap beaten out of us all week by Baltimoregate, Billarygate, copgate, Iranbombgate and all the other gates, that one little act of kindness lifted my spirits and made it all go away. Funny how an ounce of honey can outweigh a gallon of venom, y'know? Yay for honey. EssOne10 points

I have worked 11 straight 12 hour shifts the last two weeks. I got today off and decided to do something special. I left work at 430 am, and fired the forge at 500 am. I'll post up dates to this thread as I work today if you want to follow along. This is when I fired the forge at 500 am Our material for the day. A 1 1/4" jackhammer bit that will be cut and used to make a tomahawk. A small file for a patch knife. A brick hammer for a Pulaski hawk, and a 1/4" leaf spring for a long hunters style belt knife6 points

The Cowboy A modern day cowboy has spent many days crossing the Dakota prairies without water. His horse had already died of thirst. He's crawling along the dusty ground, certain that he has breathed his last breath, when all of a sudden he sees an object sticking out of the ground several yards ahead of him. He crawls to the object, pulls it out of the ground and discovers what looks to be an old briefcase. He opens it and out pops a genie. But this is no ordinary genie. She is wearing an Internal Revenue Service ID badge and a dull grey dress. There's a calculator in her pocketbook She has a pencil tucked behind one ear. 'Well, cowboy,' says the genie, 'You know how I work...You have three wishes.' 'I'm not falling for this,' said the cowboy, 'I'm not going to trust an IRS genie. "What do you have to lose? You've got no transportation, and it looks like you're a goner anyway. The cowboy thinks about this for a minute and decides that the genie is right. 'OK! I wish I were along side a lush spring with plenty of food and drink. ***POOF*** The cowboy finds himself beside the most beautiful spring he has ever seen, and he's surrounded with jugs of wine and platters of delicacies 'OK, cowpoke, what's your second wish? 'My second wish is that I was rich.....beyond my wildest dreams.' ** *POOF*** The cowboy finds himself surrounded by treasure chests filled with rare gold coins and precious gems. 'OK, cowpuncher, you have just one more wish. Better make it a good one!' After thinking for a few minutes, the cowboy says, 'I wish that no matter where I go, beautiful women will want and need me.' ***POOF*** He was turned into a Tampon Moral of The Story : If the U.S. Government Offers To Help You, You Can Bet There's Going To Be A String Attached !!!6 points

Watching some of the coverage of the demonstrations after the riots I actually became more irritated with many of the reporters covering it than some of the demonstrators. I say demonstrators because they wern't officially rioting at the time but still taunting the police after curfew. The reason I got irritated with the media is when reporters were asking questions from the demonstrators they would never let them finish what they were saying, not even get partially done. It doesn't matter if I agreed with what they were saying, if they ask a question then at least let them answer it. The reporters, several, stopped them in mid sentence just to add their opinion, they just don't have the ability to shut the hell up for 30 seconds. Now I don't defend or approve of what the rioters are doing or did but I was waiting to see one just punch one of those reporters in the mouth. They are there to report and interview, not comment, ask a question and get an answer weather you don't like the answer or not.4 points

Since those who are the most stridently anti-Islam are usually religious in their own right...anybody who participated in, or supports this event looses all credibility if they get upset or insulted when someone pokes fun, or degrades Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Scientology, Jedi...whatever shoe fits. If Islam is fair game for ridicule, so is every other religion.3 points

Part of me thinks the attack plays right into the aims of its organizers. Not saying they were hoping to become the target of an attack, but it definitely give them a "told you so" moment. The left isn't the only one to use a crisis to further their aims.3 points

I got this idea from a link that another TGO member (thanks NoBanStan) sent me. So, I had to try it and they turned out pretty good, IMO.2 points

This is the first thought that I had. I don't think we should live in fear of drawing political cartoons, but there is also consequences for actions, and sometimes common sense should be exercised for the interest of safety.2 points

Good single malt comes from overseas, is very expensive, and is NOT Johnny Walker. Glevlivet is a decent place to start. When you're ready to step up, give Aberlour a try. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

I bet you're fun at parties. :D Here's the bottom line, Chief... the listing was for more than I owe on it. I lost my ass with that house to the tune of about $60K in equity gone *POOF* in the blink of an eye when the market crashed a few years ago. The neighborhood which was once all "owned" homes is now mostly rental. It's clawed its way back up to where it is now and if I can sell it to an investment group for more than I owe, and get out of it without having to make any repairs... guess what I'm going to do. I'm not going to sweat a frickin moment of it not being maximum dollar. :lol:2 points

Well, I think a lot like OS. If I have a bunch of punks planning on beating on me and I have half a chance I will make myself equal to them and begin popping caps. These kids are brave till caps pop and then they are running for their lives like the cowards they are. They think there is power in numbers and I agree. The more rounds my magazine will hold the more power I have. I'm far to old to allow a bunch of punks to beat on me............ :rant:2 points

This keeps happening when the city leaders ie, Mayor,Chief of Police, etc. get on TV and say they don't know what to do with these kids. This will keep going and sooner or later somebody is going to shoot these punks. Then Momma will be on the news calling for the head of the shooter.2 points

This weekend, I had a metal roof put on my house. Looks very nice and I expect it to perform just as well. My house almost looks like a new house with it. I will get new, improved gutters in a week or 2, the gutter guy is coming tomorrow to measure. Then this fall, going to have the same guy that did my roof do my siding. I really was past the time I should have had my roof put on, When I brought this house I was told almost ever roof was repaired or replaced after a bad hail storm around 93 or 94. I have been watching and in the past 3 years, almost half of the houses on my street and about 90 percent of the ones I can see from my front door have had new roofs put up. Last year mine leaked around the chimney and I had the flashing repaired but knew it was time to plan a job. I had the roofer paint my chimney, do the roof and fix the Eaves or Soffit and the fascia. Everything looks so much better. Can't wait to do the siding this fall when I can afford that job. Wife can't wait for it to rain to hear it. My self, I just feel better knowing we have a roof that is ready.1 point

Freedom of Speech simply means the government can't prosecute you for speaking against them. Speech has plenty of consequences the Constitution can't protect you from. Plenty of people have been fired for speech, killed for speech. Say what you have to say, but know the consequences and be ready to face them.1 point

Forgot to mention, if you don't have some already, get some whiskey stones. They allow you to chill your drink without it becoming watered down due to melting ice. A small amount of water is needed to open up the flavor bouquet, but too much dilutes.1 point

JW is not a bad place to start, but please go for the black label and stay away from the red. JW even admits that it is a mixer. Glenlivet 12 yr and Balvinie 12 yr Doublewood are also good starters. The flavor profiles of scotch vary immensely with different distillers and each region has its own characteristics. I would recommend trying a lot of different types to find out what style you like. There are also tons of resources and reviews online.1 point

I picked up one from AIM a couple of months ago, just for the purpose of having in customized by Novak. They have some more in now, and I am thinking of picking up another one for a minor rework to keep it more of a stock pistol. I had a BHP back in the 90s, it was the factory hard chrome version. Great pistol, and I loved shooting it. Like a dumbass, I traded it away, and have regretted that ever since.1 point

Well we made it! It was a lot tougher than I expected but we enjoyed it. We did all of the side trails except for the the top of the falls. The overlook was awesome. I think if we do it next time we will camp one night. Going in and out on the same day is tough.1 point

I haven't used any Sightron brand stuff, but have a Primary Arms 1-4 on my carbine. It is not a true 1x but is very close, I have no problem with both eyes open and improper positioning. I can hold my carbine off my shoulder, out at full arms reach and still see the reticle, but it does have the fish bowl affect. With my eye positioned at the very end of the stock the reticle is fully in focus for me at 1x.1 point

Why'd you have to go resurrect this thread?!?!?id been doing a pretty good job of not thinking to much about it until now ?. I'm not sure when my mount will be completed but I haven't paid the guy yet so it's living rent free in his freezer right now. I can't remember when he estimated that it'd be done but I seem to remember thinking that I had until mid-late summer to figure out where I'd hang him. I do think you and my wife are Aholes for bringing all this up tho, I mean, you know that I'm waiting on my suppressor and sbr approvals and now you added deer season and a call from the taxidermist and she's added a baby to my "things I'm waiting on" list. In all seriousness though, I can't wait!!!1 point

FN stuff certainly should be good. They have manufactured one of the world's priemier military/police pistols since 1935 - the FN P35, known in this country as the Browning Hi Power. Congrats on finding a gun you're so satisfied with. That's a habit with FN owners. One of the guys I made good friends with training last year decided he wanted an axe similar to one carried on the show Vikings. So this is what u came up with. This was my first day off in 3 weeks and I worked 5:00 pm to 5:00 am, then drove straight from work to the shop and forged this out. Mild steel body with a forge welded 5160 bit. Apps 4 lbs. 9.5" Long point to point, 29" handle Forge welded eye Hot cutting the leaf spring for the bit. The finished product and one tired blacksmith. I call her the Gavel of Ragnarök since that will be the judgment of the Gods.1 point

Posey's in Cleveland just sold one...http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=478172378. Maybe they have another. Here are the other offerings on Gunbroker....http://www.gunbroker.com/All/BI.aspx?Keywords=ruger+5246 I'll stick with my original advice...get a Vaquero. That flattop is uglier than a regular Blackhawk. Did you know the Blackhawk grip frame is aluminum where that of the Vaquero is steel? Better balance.1 point

Do you not hold men to the same standards? I've been into many gun shops owned/run by men who couldn't tell the difference between a Glock and a 1911, much less the differences between ammo.1 point
