Ummm, I believe the preferred term these days is "living historian" as opposed to "reenactor". That being said, if you live in Nashville, you are only about 45-60 minutes away from one of the best stocked Civil War sutlers in the south-- http://www.blockaderunner.com/ They are located right off of I-24E between Bellbuckle and Wartrace, and are very well stocked on just about everything you could imagine for Civil War Buffs... both Union and Confederate gear, uniforms, accessories, relics etc. Well worth the drive for anyone interested in this stuff. What's more, they are very 2A friendly and welcome legal licensed carry-- with a "FIREARMS PERMITTED" gun-in-green-circle (the opposite of a gunbuster sign) sign right by the front door! And no, I do NOT work for them, but it's one of my favorite places to spend a lazy Saturday. If you visit the store, you can get a new artillery shell jacket for around $120-- usually they have several sizes in stock, so that's about half the cost of a custom-make jacket. Not sure that you'll find a new one cheaper than that online, besides, better to keep your $$ in Tennessee instead of sending it to some Yankee up north...3 points

I once bought a gun collection from a lady who inherited them from her deceased brother. I went to her house and gave her the approximate retail value of each piece. I explained to her that selling items at retail involved a good deal of work. Turns out she just wanted them gone, and seemed happy for me to get them. She asked what I'd offer for them, I gave her a number well below what they were worth. She seemed pleased and accepted the offer, with full knowledge the guns were worth much more than I paid for them. In the end, she got rid of the guns without a hassle, and I got a screaming deal on some pieces I otherwise never would have owned. I say all that to say this: be honest and upfront with this lady. Explain to her the real value of what she has, and that you aren't in a position to pay retail for it. You just might get a deal as well.3 points

If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times, the ONLY way to fix / prevent all of VA's issues, medical or otherwise, is just to shut the damn thing down, give vets a card to go where they choose, and not have to deal with these fine folks. Personally, I am in process of getting Part D to go along with A & B, plus Tricare. Then I plan to tell the VA to kiss my _ _ _ . The first two lines of this post are not likely to happen. National disgrace.2 points

Just watched the video. It must have taken great restraint on the rider's part to not react reflexively when the cop snatched his gun. I know for me, it wouldn't be a conscious decision to react, even if for a fraction of a second. It was a dick move. I saw no reason he couldn't have simply told the rider that he was going to disarm him. I think that would have gone further toward avoiding an "uncomfortable" situation. May have even kept him off the internet, who knows.2 points

So much fail and WTF in that story. As my Uncle Larry said, don't stick your dick in crazy. Prevents a lot of problems down the line.2 points

120 Mile trip round trip, $200, + 3x 1,400 Round buckets of Remington Golden Bullet 22 LR = My 2nd TGI built FEG AMD-65! The seller was seeking $550 for the rifle, one magazine, + a box of ammunition. I was able to negotiate his asking price considerably to my favor as I was willing to make the drive to him this evening to complete the transaction. It was an unexpected purchase, but I was hard pressed to pass on the opportunity given the price point!2 points

A properly cooked rare steak the way I like it at home is a Cast iron Skillet, about an inch of olive oil, bring the skillet heat to the range of smoke just barely beginning to rise off the skillet, add a Nice 2 inch + thick Ribeye to the skillet over medium high heat cook for 3 minutes turn 1 time and cook for 2 minutes and put it on a plate. I watched my Mother cook steaks like that for many years as she was professional cook in some very high class restaurants. She said the biggest secret to a good steak is only turning it once. Any more than that will make it tough. My Mother had 5 sons and no daughters and she taught every one of her sons to cook in case we married a woman that could boil water without burning it...............  :rofl:2 points

My wife hates me, all spiders are relocated to the outdoors. No genocide in the house. We have a spider removal system specifically for the purpose. Well, an old Pringles can, but it does what it does. Now on that flip side, if my dog or one of the cats; well, the kitten, the old maid won't eat bugs anymore; spots an insect in the domain, they will eat it post haste. I allow that to happen, as it is just nature taking it's course.1 point

Actually besides the obvious, the Post Office's monetary problems are the result of Congress requiring them to prepay retirement benefits. Which is completely the opposite of how both business and the Federal Gov do it.1 point

The term "has been committed" would seem to make it a high standard, at least to me if I were to interpret it. I guess it depends on where the line between could have been, and has been is to the individual. I see it as could have been absent any witness statement (even an informal one would be enough). I don't see how an armed citizen with his weapon holstered, wearing a helmet on leaving a store on a motorcycle qualifies as leading to the conclusion that a crime has been committed, unless someone in the store reports it that way. The officer himself only said the guy looked suspicious because of the helmet and the holstered weapon, not any other actions. Is that in itself enough? Regardless, the stop was 100% correct if the focus had been on simply ascertaining if the biker had a permit to carry the weapon while dismounted. Even the position of the plates was justified as a reason for the stop, if the officer didn't think the weapon alone was worth investigating. I'm on the officers side for stopping the guy under the two reasons above. It's how he approached the situation and his actions during the stop that irks me.1 point

All right! Enough! Boy and girls, ladies and germs, THIS is how you cook a steak. Before reading this and applying the techniques here I firmly believed I knew how to cook a steak. I mean, they were pretty good and I never got any complaints except the occasional over/under cooked comments. Since I have started using this method I know how inadequate my former steaks were. I have even used this method on Select grade steaks and they came out fabulous. Trust me when I say that the extra prep time here makes it well worth the while. You can save your thanks for after you've made your steaks this way. And for those that say that the only way to cook a steak is to flip it once, I'll gladly take the Pepsi challenge any time. http://mancavezen.com/99/cook-perfect-steak-dry-rub-ribeye-recipe/1 point

So, I sold a camera lens via Ebay. Someone from Cambodia messaged me and asked if they won, would I ship it to them. I told them I would. They won. So I shipped it to them. I have shipped probably 10 different items overseas in the last 5 years. It has worked perfectly each time. However, this one looks a bit odd via tracking: The guy messaged me today mentioning that he thought it was supposed to be 12 day shipping. I've gotta say, he is on top of things more than the USPS. I'm afraid I'm going to see a note in my mailbox today telling me I have a package to pickup. For anyone familiar, does this look like the status updates of what will soon be a package "returned to sender"? I'm afriad that the issue is that I used Ebay's custom's form. I usually fill out the papers by hand and then pay at the local post office for international shipments. When you right on that paper it makes copies. With Ebay's form it only printed out one, I had to print it multiple times to get the multiple sheets. I spoke with the local USPS and they said it should be fine. I also made sure the weight was correct (actually overpaid by probably 1/4 pound. If it comes back and the reason is not something in my error, think I'll have any luck talking to the local Postmaster?1 point

If fed from an underground waterway, 60 deg is a pretty good bet. Cold water? Try most any of the rivers in the Smokies. Most stay in the mid 50's, even in July/August. Brrrrrr.1 point

I have been there many of times having grown up just about 5 miles from there. I do not know the temperature of the water, but I do know that, even on the hottest days in the summer, it is cold enough to take your breath away. I was told, however, I never confirmed that the water flows from a cave, which would explain the cold temps. Machine Gun Falls is also in that area just a couple of miles from Rutledge. If you're back in the area, you should check it out. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g55390-d3215444-Reviews-Short_Springs_Natural_Area-Tullahoma_Tennessee.html1 point

Trump has cleared up his statements, once again, about Kelly and of course with no apology. Since the debate he's reminded me of Oclueless with all the name calling and innuendo. I'm frankly tried of his smartass remarks and want to hear something more substantial, like policy changes. If he gets in office and acts the way he is now, like a spoiled child, we will have another Obama dictating with executive orders and mob rule. I see him only as a thorn in the side of republicans and a gift to democrats.1 point

With the exception of military post offices, I wouldn't even think to ship USPS for overseas needs. I know that UPS, FedEx, and DHL are a lot pricier, but they're also much more organized and efficient. This goes double for when you have something that might be caught up with import/export laws.1 point
