  2. This is what happens when they close the gun-show loophole. Now, they have to resort to robbery when they used to be able to buy fully automatic clips on the Internet. But, don't worry, if they decide to sell the guns to their friends, they will do a background check first....Please don't tell Obama about this, I'd hate to have his feelings hurt since he is in touch with his tears....give me a break!

  4. And that is exactly what the Democrats count on.  Democrats vote Democrat no matter what, it's us on the right that divide our votes because the Republican doesn't meet all our preconceived ideas of what a Republican should be.  Don't get me wrong, I am not a Donald supporter, and I will not be voting for him in the Primary.  But when it comes to the choice of Hillary or whomever the Republicans put up...I will go Republican. I will not let others decide who represent us in the White House, I don't care if the Republican doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell in TN, I will still give my vote to them.

  7.   It basically clarifies what is already the law.  If you're in the business of selling guns you get a license.   For example, those guys you see at every single gun show buying and selling guns who always have tables in the same spot.  They're going to have to get a license as they are obviously "in the business".

  10. Update: Daisy (Dolly didn't stick) went to the vet today. She did great. A little scared but she did awesome. First and most important and what I was terrified of, she is heartworm negative!! Yay! She weighs 58.4 lbs and she did have hook and round worms. We got a years supply of heartworm prevention, Drontal to kill what worms she does have and all vaccines necessary. She did great! Just thought people might enjoy an update with everything else going on.

  11. Bait and switch alert! Nothing yet but the stock. Gun arrives next week, Zenith MKE Z-5RS. HKparts stock came in today so thought I would put a teaser up. Wanted this specific setup since I was a kid, would prefer an auto, but no bueno on that much $. Will have a can on it as well, but want to get the pistol in hand before deciding on a model. Step 1. Stock Step 2. Pistol Step 3. Waste ammo (skipped this step - mp5 pistol is about useless) Step 4. Form 1 - submitted approved Step 4a. Waste ammo - successful That was rapid firing two mags (mixed cheap ammo to see how it functions - this thing chews up aluminum case stuff, there will be no more of it) at 25 yards, standing with the iron sights (no adjustments made from the box). Rear sight is hard to get used to, it sits too low. Another issue was that it's strange holding the front hand guard, much more accurate if you hold it by the front of the mag well/mag. Probably going to go with optics on it even though I said I wouldn't. Step 5. Can & paperwork done Silencerco Hybrid :) , paperwork filed. Step 6. Waste ammo (need to order adapters and then will be able to fire it at the range, it came configured for .308) Step 7. Enjoy

  12. And the wait is officially over. Picked her up today. Pics below. Some of you have seen me post some info about a custom rimfire benchrest gun I am having built. It has been done for a few weeks, but I have been waiting on ammo testing to be done. Well, today was the day for results. I haven't even seen the gun, but I at least know it will shoot. 40 shot group at 50 meters came in at 15.3mm edge to edge. As you can see, the 10 shots groups were a bit smaller. I am sure it is going to outshoot me, I just hope I can learn to read the wind well enough to complete. I had some groups down in the 11mm range in some other lots, but there was also an almost 19mm group in that same lot. This one was most consistent overall. I will add some pics of the gun when it gets here. Should have it in hand on Friday if all goes well. I pretty excited right now. When I get the bill for the case of ammo, my enthusiasm may be diminished  .

  14. Here's the simple take on the whole selling guns as a business thing:  It was this way before Obama opened his mouth on Monday, and was just as vague then as it is now in respect to how many guns sold makes you a business.   Nothing is any different.   I haven't read all of the stuff that Fox News has apparently provided, but I consider them as reliable a source of information about gun laws as I do them a reliable source of unbiased news.  I'd take whatever they produce with a grain of salt and go hunt down information from the source.  The BATFE link is a good place to begin.  Beyond that I'm looking for guidance from the NRA, GOA and other Second Amendment powerhouses.

  30. This is a perfect example where Quickloads can help you. You can check different bullets and different powders without loading anything first. It will at least let you know if a load is most likely safe. Based on base data for 308, the 43.5gr of IMR 4895 with 168gr bullet at 2.80 OAL is about 52,000 psi. Well below the 62,000 psi max. If OAL is smaller, pressures will go up of course. Knowing the case capacity in H2O is also important as this can change things quite a bit.

  32. I don't think there is anything unfashionable about suspenders. I don't wear a suit that often these days, though will wear suspenders to dress it up a little.    They are far better than a belt.  I spent the 90s wearing suspenders when folks actually wore a suit to work everyday.      It sounds like you may be law enforcement, so your needs will be different than mine, though as many have shared there are a wide range of suspender types available.   I would suggest against the ones that clip to you pants and get the buttons sewn in.  If so, make sure they sew the buttons that the suspenders connect to really well, possibly with some reinforcement if you are wearing them when you work.

  40. I picked up mine last night. I have not had a chance to get to the range and probably won't until Friday. So this is just initial impressions WITHOUT firing the gun. I'll start with some pictures and then get into my thoughts. First, I'll address the issues have come up from other reviewers. 1. Thumb hot spot thing. Without shooting, I can say that I understand what people are talking about. I can feel the area, but I don't think it will be an issue for me. I have fat hands and plenty of padding. I do think the butt of the gun needs to be a little more ergonomically shaped. The right side is fine but the left side could use some contouring. MAC and other people have mentioned trying to shave it a little with a dremel or something. I don't think its possible. The last picture above shows inside the grip and its not overly thick plastic. There is plenty of room between the "chassis" and the plastic frame. Ruger could definitely remold the grip without touching the chassis or parts and possibly fix this. 2. Full mag releases slide. I was able to make this happen. However, I had to REALLY slam the mag into the gun. Inserting the mag like I normally would, the gun never did this. It does give me concern that the slide catch is weak and will only get weaker as the gun breaks in. This is something that I will be keeping an eye on. Its interesting to me that this is a problem since I CANNOT use my SR9c slide catch as a release. I have to slingshot the SR9c and thats fine since its my preferred method anyways. Just seems a huge leap to go from a slide lock only to this thing. 3. Trigger. This is completely subjective. Every person that handles it is going to have a different opinion. Personally, I think the trigger is on par with most of the other guns on the market. It has a slightly longer than average reset but the pull weight is perfect. It breaks pretty cleanly. It does have a little bit of a spongy feel to it but I think that will work itself out as it wears in. Just dry firing in the house last night, I started to feel it get a little crisper. The mechanism looks familiar to me and I suspect that there will be some improvement kits in the future as well. I don't remember what other issues people had. But those three stuck out. Some of my other thoughts. I absolutely love the serrations on the slide. I think they are perfect. Great texture to provide grip but without cutting into me or keeping dna samples. I hope that this design becomes a staple across the Ruger line. The interchangeable grip panels are a great concept. Each definitely provides a different grip. Because of my fat palms I like running small grips. I have the smallest panel on it now. I already know the largest panel is going to be too big for me so Its pretty much out of the running. I will be taking the medium with me to the range and testing it out under fire. The biggest problem that I have is that they don't seem grippy enough for me. I don't need overly grippy, but a little more texture would have been nice. I've always been happy with my SR9c's sides. Something similar would have been nice. Overall, I'm not disappointed with my purchase. I like the gun enough so far that I intend to keep it. But I do look forward to my range time with it. And I'll form more opinions then. It's worth noting that I never intended for this gun to replace my SR9c as my daily carry. I don't carry full size guns. I also don't compete or run urban commando classes so this was never going to see a training environment or a timer. I bought this as another range toy and as a potential suppressor host (when Ruger releases threaded barrels or I send it off to be threaded and three lugged).

I think it's high time somebody started some liberty minded social networks, where regardless of the opinion or viewpoint being spewed - yes, even the ones that make your skin crawl - it's allowed. The only way freedom spreads again is if encourage it in its truest form.
