I will be driving from Clarksville to Louisville on the 20th of May for the first day of the exhibits at the NRA annual meeting. I had three buddies lined up to travel with me, but two have backed out. I'm offering a ride up there early in the morning and back late that night to anyone* that wants to go with and is reasonably close to my route of travel. Veterans from the Fort Campbell area are preferred. *Disclaimer you must not be a hipster liberal waste of space time vampire full time all time welfare recipient to ride in my truck. There will be a red blooded American bacon eating test to weed out any radical extremist muslims and vegans.6 points

I am really sorry to read this. This is basically where we are with Max. It's a horrible situation to be in. Just try your hardest to enjoy what you have left! We don't know how long with have with Max, and when it's time, we'll let him go. In the mean time we're going to party it up and snuggle him like crazy. Good luck with Axl!3 points

It could well be Daryl. That said, I think that the biggest thing going against that has nothing to do with the storyline or character motivations and everything to do with the powers that be on the show, etc. wanting the show to continue. I honestly believe that their ratings would take a big plunge immediately after an episode in which Daryl dies. Then - as I believe the show would become a whole lot less interesting without him (the comic is fine without him but things are different in the comic) I think there would follow a steady decline in the ratings in the weeks following that episode as people who are not, necessarily, in the 'if Daryl dies we riot' camp simply begin to realize the negative impact that character's loss has on the show as a whole. I still like the show but feel that it has lost a lot of its momentum as it goes into its seventh season. Negan and the Saviors - and how Rick's group and others deal with them - is potentially the perfect opportunity to regain that momentum as Negan has the potential to be one of the best, most interesting (and most hated while still, secretly, kinda liking him) characters in the show's history. Killing Daryl, IMO, would render the potential re-kindling of interest in the show by viewers who may be thinking of giving up on it null and void. Daryl dying on his knees with no chance to fight back would be the most unsatisfying decision the show runners and writers could make or have made to this point. If Daryl dies, the only way to make it palatable to viewers - and especially superfans of the character - would be if he did so saving the rest of the group from overwhelming odds when they had no, other possible chance of survival without him sacrificing himself to save his 'family'. In other words, I think that killing Daryl - especially in this manner - would be the definitive moment when The Walking Dead television show jumped the shark. I think that killing Glenn would accomplish a lot. First, Negan obviously knows that Maggie is pregnant and now knows that Glenn is the father. Beating Glenn to death shows that Negan isn't giving anyone a pass for any reason. Further, while Abraham did give Negan the 'stink eye', Glenn is the only one who moved from his position in line (when Maggie was threatened.) This gives Negan a chance to show that he won't stand for anyone getting out of line - literally or figuratively - for any reason. Negan is looking to physically, emotionally and psychologically devastate these people. He has no way of knowing just how much any individual there means to Rick or the rest of the group but he does now know that Glenn is the father of Maggie's baby. Regardless of what the other interpersonal relationships are in the group, Negan would also have to know that killing a soon-to-be father in front of his wife would have a huge psychological impact on the rest of the group. One of the things that, I think, solidified Daryl as a fan favorite was the way he wouldn't give up looking for Sophia and all the physical damage he survived trying to find her. Seeing Glenn - one of his best friends and a person he likely considers to be a 'brother' - beaten to death right beside him and the desire to make Negan and the Saviors pay for Glenn's death would send Daryl to that place in a way we haven't seen since then. His desire for vengeance after Glenn's death would make his reaction to Denise's death look like a tea party. In other words, it would be a chance to see a return to the 'real' Daryl. As far as a show/plot decision, I also think that killing Glenn would be an effective decision. I think that most viewers would feel Glenn's loss, making it possible to feel at least some amount of the devastation the rest of Rick's group would feel. That said, I think that killing Glenn could well have the opposite effect on viewership that killing Daryl would have. Instead of deciding to give up on the show, I think that many viewers would want to tune in to see how the group - especially Maggie - would handle the loss as well as to see how they were going to make Negan pay for killing him. COMIC BOOK STUFF: There is, of course, a Daryl-like character in the comics. A guy who, at first, isn't very likeable but who turns out to have a certain nobility about him and eventually ends up contributing a lot to the group. A guy, in fact, who for a long time uses a crossbow as his main weapon. I am talking, of course, about Dwight. In the comics, Dwight got that burn on his face from Negan who disfigured him to punish him for a 'transgression'. He ends up betraying Negan and is instrumental in Negan's defeat. In the past on the television version when a character has died there has been a 'replacement' waiting in the wings (this has not necessarily been true in the comics - which to my mind makes each character's loss in the comics have more of an impact because there isn't the sense that 'we'll just throw another character into that spot.". For instance, Shane died but Daryl replaced him as Rick's best friend and right hand man. Dale died and Herschel replaced him as the 'Jiminy Cricket' of the group. Herschel died and Tyreese sort of took on that role and then after he died, Morgan came along. I don't think it would be a good idea, though, to try and replace Daryl with Dwight. This is partly because Daryl is such a unique character and partly because the actor playing Dwight on the show doesn't have even one tenth of the 'presence' that Norman Reedus has on screen.3 points

I shot a 9mm Shield yesterday and am placing an order w/ Bud's today. Again, thanks for all the good advice! On a side note, the friend who let me borrow his Shield also had a Kel-Tec PF9 in his pocket. Boy, the difference between those two is night and day. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with that PF9!! But I guess if push came to shove I'd prefer it over a rock!3 points

First off just let me say that Willis really sucks. I had been cured of my knife addiction a long time ago. Then willis started offering all these autos and I relapsed pretty hard. While buying all these autos I kept drooling over some of these custom knives our own members were making. So when Sybo posted that he had a knife he needed to sell I jumped on it. The pics just do not do this knife justice. It is a fantastic looking knife. You can tell some real though went into the handle because it feels right when you hold it. It is really sharp. The back of both of my hands have no hair left. I can't tell you how pleased I am at how this turned out. It is a real work of art. And now for some crappy cell phone pics... That sucks, but really isn't a shock given the discussion and concern expressed here. For as much as we love our pets and bring them into our families they all to often leave us far to soon. Make the most of the time remaining and know when to let go and provide your pets final comfort.2 points

The JF/NY Old Man vid's a pretty good hack and an interesting enough post but aside from that I'd cross a busy street just to avoid NY or any of his like. He's a classic liberal apologist and closet bigot, which unfortunately describes most of the entertainment industry.2 points

I had a Uncle Pass recently and he left me this Case Knife. I know there are hundreds of variants on each type when it comes to Case. after some research it looks like it's 1960's time frame or earlier and it looks like someone has customized it for sure1 point

After looking at the recent posts of BRD, or black rifle disease I had a realization. I have a much older, but equally debilitating one, Wheel Gun Disease or WGD. Although I have owned many Smiths I am partial to Rugers. I love looking at the AR pics you guys have, but I wouldn't get rid of my revolvers for one. I have included pics of my Ruger Wheel Guns, or Sears Catalog edition of Gun Porn. Hope you enjoy.1 point

He was great. I just did a track for him two weeks ago, where they changed the key on a song he wrote; it didn't have his vocal on it, and I doubt he got one on it before he passed. Back in the 80's, when I was out with Tammy Wynette, we did a bunch of shows with him. She called over the walkie one night to our bus, the radio crackled, "Mikey?" I answered, "Yeah, Tam, whatcha need?" "Would you get my guitar from under the bus and bring it over here to Hag's bus? We're gonna sit and write a while." I said, "Sure, be right there." I walked onto his bus, back to the stateroom, we did our introductions and howdy's, and I saw a Lazy Susan on the table. On it was a selection of ANY "substance" known to man. I looked at it wide eyed, and Merle said to take anything I wanted. I just said, "I'm good... but thanks..." We didn't leave the venue for quite a while...1 point

The durability of the steel is one part of it. The shear mass of the knife is sufficient enough to chop down fallen limb of a tree into firewood if you need to, without it being burdensome amount of weight. The back edge has enough of an edge to strike a fire steel and produce an impressive amount of spark without wearing it noticeably. Plus when you hold it you can imagine how a grizzly bear must feel with his big ol knifelike claws. But this is just how I feel about mine. it's tapatalks fault1 point

Using WD40 to CLEAN a gun is fine. I have used the method I described hundreds of times and never had an issue. I can assure you squirting some into the trigger mechanism then blowing it out is easier than disassembling and reassembling most guns. I have recommended it here dozens of times and I have yet to hear of a single person who has had a problem using it as a cleaner. WD40 is not even a lubricating oil. It is more of a solvent or cutting oil than a lubricating oil. And as a protectant it is awful except WD40's Specialist Long Term Corrosion. The Specialist Corrosion from WD40 is better than any other protectant designed for protecting firearms and that is fact, not opinion.1 point

The only way Daryl will die is if Norman Reedus decides he wants to quit the show. Even then, killing Daryl will basically be killing the show. When Dwight shot Daryl the week before, the hardcore fans on the internet nearly freaked out. :panic: So I seriously doubt it will be him. While I admit to being a fan of the show, I not nearly as "in to it" as many of the super fans who actually would riot if Daryl was killed off. So I hadn't really put all that much thought into it. Y'all make some very compelling arguments that it will be Glen. Ok, I change my vote. Glen it is. Besides, I like Abraham and would like to see him continue. :up:1 point

I wanted to pass along a 50% discount code for a tri-fuel conversion kit from US Carburetion. The conversion kit is called the Motor Snorkel. No permanent changes are needed to your generator. The discount code is AR15SNORKEL. The price is normally $187 and it's on sale for $97.47 if you use the code. Sale ends 4/10. You will likely need to purchase a hose kit for either propane or natural gas. The discount is only for the snorkel kit. I bought a kit for my generator last summer when they offered the same deal. I was highly impressed with the kit and it worked great for me. You should be able to find several reviews on the web. YMMV. I'm currently able to run gas or propane. (It actually seems to run better on propane than gas for me.) I recently bought the needed items to be able to use natural gas but haven't hooked it up yet. http://www.motorsnorkel.com/motor-snorkel-tri-fuel-natural-gas-propane-and-gasoline-conversion-kit-3433.html1 point

I have owned a 40 shield, a 9mm shield, a 43, and an XDS. The only thing I found better about the XDS was the factory sights. While I preferred the Shield over the 43, I wouldn't talk someone out of the 43. I felt the finish was better on the Shield over the XDS and the 43. I also felt the Shield was built to handle more rounds during its lifetime; it felt like a combat handgun and not a pocket toy. The Shield, in both calibers, outshot the 43 and the XDS. The 43 may have been the least favorable as far as ergonomics, but honestly they all felt about the same. Three times over about three months I had the magazine come unseated in my pocket on the XDS. It only happened with the Shield twice in a two year period. I carried the 43 a couple of months and never had it happened. Basically, I just felt the magazine coming unseated because of the release getting pressed was far more likely to occur with the XDS. I preferred the Shield enough that I sold the 43, and one of my best friends loved the Shield so much he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I am without a pocket sized 9mm, and honestly will only consider repurchasing a Shield. It's nice that the Shield is the cheapest of all of them too, and this is coming from a huge Glock fanboy.1 point

Awsome knife. Sorry about your uncle. When my grandfather passed away, I thought about refininshing his rifle. Then I realized that I'd be pulling all of the character out of it that he put into it. I left it as is, and I enjoy it more that way. Just something to consider before you refinish the knife. Those marks are character marks, and it looks great. I could see polishing the blade, but I couldn't bring myself to take it a part. Your choice though, but I thought I'd mention it.1 point

They, used to say "so goes California so goes the nation" but that's BS. As California and some other states pass more restrictive gun laws, many other states are passing laws lifting restrictions on gun ownership and carry. Lately when reading about a new gun in a magazine ad I cringe when they brag it's "California legal", I know it's about making money but I really wish all the gun makers would stop trying to appease California and some other states, as a matter of fact I would like to see them just stop selling to anyone in those states including law enforcement. A self imposed total firearms ban on those states. Stop including that stupid spent case with the gun you buy, the state don't like it then screw them. Include a standard capacity magazine for the gun and include a high capacity mag for it also, if it's illegal in that state so be it.1 point
