  1. Although when I was a kid if there was a kid who was being particularly annoying someone might sarcastically say, "Why don't you go play in traffic?" Of course, the kid generally had enough sense to realize that this was sarcasm as well as enough intelligence not to actually do so.

  3. The real problem is that some folks believe that their 'rights' have no limits. Is there a Constitutional right to free speech? Of course - but I don't think that the natural progression of that right grows into a right to stand in the middle of the road and block traffic. Further, an individual's rights are limited where they begin to infringe on the rights of others. I believe that people have a right not to have their lives or property endangered by, for instance, some idiots who haven't got the sense to get the heck out of the road and who are, therefore, endangering lives and property by intentionally and unnecessarily creating traffic hazards.

  4. I got into building light sabers a few years ago. The one in the top photo is made from an actual HR & MPP camera flash parts like the one used for Darth Vader in the original movies. I still need to locate a flash clamp & it will be complete. The bottom photo are two I made using sink, camera, & misc. electrical parts. (Sorry for the poor quality pics. Camera flashes don't cooperate well with chrome) I'm working on a Ep. IV "Graflex" light saber like the one given to Luke in the original Star Wars film, but it's taking a while because parts are hard to find or are too expensive.

She put together the outfit, I just helped with the helmet(this pic is a loaner she used while I was refinishing hers) by Erik, on Flickr Untitled by Erik, on Flickr "Made" is a little over the top, I did correct and refinish a terrible resin casting. Covering it with a dozen coats of black lacquer then polishing until it looked shiny enough that you might think you could dive in and take a swim. Untitled by Erik, on Flickr I would feel comfortable stating that I built my TK(Stormtrooper) though. It started out looking like the largest plastic model you've ever seen. Hour #1 by Erik, on Flickr Several hours and beers later. . . by Erik, on Flickr Many, many, many more hours (and beers) later it becomes! by Erik, on Flickr

  8. Since I was 11 years old I have wanted a real Darth Vader helmet. EFX makes some killer Star Wars props. In 2011 they did a Legend edition helmet that cost over $900.00 it sold out in 4 minutes way before I knew they existed. A couple of years ago I pre paid for another Star Wars prop that never materialized, I was offered a Special Edition Darth Vader helmet in store credit, as soon as I heard they were doing that helmet I jumped on it, it is the closest thing to the one David Prowse wore in A New Hope, the original Star Wars movie, it was delivered to me last week and man do I love this thing!

  9. Sometimes I feel that I have to tippy-toe around with my words. These days the slightest little thing will set some people off. And I have been told that I am by several people, not here, because I may have sounded unsympathetic to the BLM movement. But mostly from the people on Facebook. I just love to torment them with my unabashed foul comments. Actually was told I was racist because I didn't vote for Barack there, and then found it was one of my less conservative neighbors who had said it. lol I love my neighborhood. lol

  12. .38 Military & Police. Serial number puts it at between 1948-1951. The range for those years was C1-C223998 so you can kinda guesstimate an exact year. That sorta looks like a 5" barrel. A fine looking revolver!

  13. I admit I was wrong. It looks like it was also legal. 39-17-1308. Defenses to unlawful possession or carrying of a weapon. (a) It is a defense to the application of § 39-17-1307 if the possession or carrying was: 1. By a person in fear of Chuck Norris, his beard, or it's perceived presence in a vehicle.

  14. Definitely need pics and serial #, at least the first few digits. Those numbers on the yoke and frame there don't mean anything except the yoke is original to the gun. Serial number is on the butt. Sounds like it's older than '57 or '58, the year S&W started using model numbers (and stamped that number on the frame were you see the 5702). 5702 is not a .38 special model number.

  16. For 40 years, I've stressed to my wife: If she's driving and she has to stop for any unanticipated reason... flat tire, engine problem... Immediately, her priority should become her own safety. It's no longer about getting the flat fixed or getting to wherever she was going. Too many bad things can happen when people sit in cars on the side of the road. If I understand the original post, this woman was sitting in a car for over 10 minutes ...at night ...in a darkened neighborhood ...with no drive by traffic or people around ...with the interior light on so anyone outside could see that it was a woman by herself talking on a phone? If this was my wife in this situation, I'd suggest she tell the caller, "I'm driving right now. I'll call you back in 10 minutes." Do not stop your car in a strange, unlighted location.

  19. Personal taste I guess. I found the Keltec to be a better shooter for me. Less felt recoil and I liked the Prvy 32 acp rounds I had for it. Thought them a better penetrator than the 380. Of course it's all subjective. Personal likes enter into like all others.

  21. I have a CM9 that is carried in a RJ Hedley (Lisa) leather holster in front pocket. I have never owned a PM9 but from what I understand the barrel rifling is the bigger difference and both shoot equally well. PM9 has polygonal rifling like Glock and CM9 is conventional rifling. I would rather fight than switch. Lol

  22. I try to maintain a cool head in seeing some of these protest, counter protest, or whatever. But I must say this video physically sickens me. First the person getting hit. I've seen and heard that first hand. It's not pretty. Secondly, the crowd reaction was abominable. Expected in the high temper situations we see nowadays, but still nonetheless way out of control. Thirdly, the shooting at the lady who came back to help(?). That was uncalled for and totally evil. An action born of pure hatred and a quest for revenge. I won't pretend to say I understand all that has gone on within the African-American community, for I don't. All I do know is that the political machinations of the last 10-20 years have created a divide within this country and all its people that we may not recover from. I pray that is not the case. But back on point, this is the first I've heard of this incident, and I sort of live on the internet and news sites lately. Maybe the wrong ones, but all new to me. I am undeniably heartened by your analysis and observations on the incident. Yes I know this makes me sound like...well a racist. And how I hate that word. It has divided more people lately than the presidential race. I grew up in a rural area that was a hard core, traditional, old school democratic, and in a family that was the same. I won't lie to you or anyone else that I didn't get raised in an environment that used some pretty strong language against "people of color", (and that's another phrase I'm not happy with.) or have some attitudes that I've had to work hard to overcome. I believe I have. But I grew out of that, and have been totally dismayed by all the hatred that has been reborn recently. I don't have an answer, and probably shouldn't even comment on all this. But I'm so very happy to see people try and overcome the impulse reactions to violence against one another. Yes I know the video didn't show that. But reactions here do. And I have a little hope.

  25. I should probably keep my comments on this to myself. All I will say is this country is getting closer to the tipping point every single day. It won't be pretty for anyone when we fall over the edge.

  30. And my wife wonders why I'm very hesitant and particular about pulling into random driveways to turn around. How long did you sit there to give this guy time to come out and confront you? What were you doing that you didn't see him soon enough to big out before he got to the vehicle?

  32. Use a vertical cellphone holder. Cut out the shape of the mag from the dark foam packing insert. Nobody notices because everybody has a cellphone. Even carry my own phone in a carrier next to it and never have had a second look. Anybody says anything I'll just say one is company and the other my personal. Take your mag with you and make sure the case is tall enough and has a n insert.

  34. Ok, let's get this back on track. I got the chance to shoot a Carbine version yesterday. It was fantastic! I can't say enough good about it. Like yours, this one also had the trigger replaced and the extended charging handle. Makes quite a nice difference in handling the rifle. It shot great. Was terrifically accurate. Of course the 1000 buck optic system on it might have helped me with it. lol The one I shot had the welded faux suppressor on it, so I got a good feel for what it would be like finished out. It really has me thinking about not going the SBR route, and just getting a carbine instead. Overall, I can't really see much difference if I did that. And what's worse...I got to run a mag thru a Bren as well. The less said here the better. I LOVED IT! Plain and simple.

  36. I don't even mow my yard unarmed. I have no idea what's in the area behind my property and of course, who's in the vehicles going down the road (but that's another topic ) I don't want to be the headline when they realize we have cougars around here. "Old dude pulled off riding mower and killed by cougar"

  37. That was stupid on the resident's part and he at the very least should have received a tongue lashing from the police. The use of deadly force to protect property is not justified in Tennessee, first of all, and secondly the resident was no longer on his property when he entered the public street to confront the motorist. Going off of your property, brandishing a firearm, to confront another citizen on public property to ask them "what the hell they are doing" is just stupid no matter the circumstances. He could have easily been arrested for brandishing a weapon. Probably should have been.

  40. The wife and I both got the $500 lifetime carry permits last year. We are far too old for it to be a good economic decision, but I looked at it this way: The government usually tries to reduce screams and cries from the populace by grandfathering in the present folks, and placing the restrictions on those in the future. Take SS, for instance. They did NOT cut SS for those drawing it, but instead grandfathered them in and placed the new age limits only on those that were not receiving it yet. Due to this, I figure that if TN decides to stop the carry permit program at any time in the future, they will simply stop issuing new permits rather than try to cancel all those already issued, and deal with all the repercussions that would bring. I figured that by getting our lifetime permits, we are pretty safe to have the right to carry even if the political tide turns against us.

  41. I'm gettin' on in years and readily admit to being opinionated as hell. I like metal guns with exposed hammers and proven designs. As such, I go with 1911s and S&W revolvers. My most carried guns are a pre-70 Colt Commander in .45acp and a 3" S&W Model 13 in .357. In revolvers I prefer the K- frames for carry. But I do have a Model 36 that I occasionally grab for quick trips when I'm too lazy to strap on a real gun. I absolutely detest plastic guns. Glucks in particular as they just don't feel right and are butt ugly to boot. However, I do own one piece of plastic and it has a specific purpose. Its a Colt Mustang XSP that I usually carry on my daily walks. With the poly frame and stainless slide, its about as sweat proof as you can get. Besides, its just a baby 1911.
