New addition to my full size 40s vintage self loading rifle collection. Finally bagged me a Swedish AG-42b otherwise known as a Ljungman. Here it is pictured with my other three. Top to bottom: 1942 Springfield Garand, 1945 Ljungman, 1941 SVT 40, and an Argentine FN49. . Still on the to acquire list are a MAS 49/56 and the Egyptian Hakim (Ljungman copy). Then maybe a Beretta BM-62 or a Walther K/G43 if I can swing it. I would still love a 41 Johnson automatic too. Again, this is just the big rifles. I have also an m1 carbine and SKS. I'll add a VZ 52 and a Rasheed at some point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk6 points

It's interesting how society changes over time - and how some things really stay the same. Kaepernick's actions weren't without legal precedent. In 1943 (a time when you'd think "patriotism" would be on high display), the Supreme Court ruled on West Virginia Board of Education v. Barnette regarding this issue. Specifically, this case involved some Jehovah's Witnesses who didn't want to salute or pledge to symbols. One might think, what's the big deal? But, as it turns out, in addition to the Jehovah's Witnesses, the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, the Red Cross and others also protested. That's because this was the salute in use in West Virginia in 1942: The court ruled in a 6-3 decision, and Justice Robert Jackson deliver the following in the majority opinion - and it's really worth reading in full: Turns out those words are still pretty relevant - maybe more so than ever - in 2016.6 points

So is that what we are supposed to do, just run? What about trying to educate others and help them to see all the freedoms that they don't enjoy? I realize that Chuck has already said everything I feel and mostly in a better way than I could every convey, but I'll still throw this in. I feel quite privileged because of the life I was born into. I was born in a decent country at a pretty decent time. I've never truly been want of any necessity. I'm a lucky individual. However, that doesn't mean that I can't be critical of my country and systems in place meant to stifle true freedom. I'll do what I feel is necessary to make my neighborhood, community, city, state, country and even world a better place for the next generation. And if that is as simple as trying to educate people on a forum, or refusing to stand for a racist anthem, or whatever, then I will take pride in those actions. Even if I can't change a single mind, as long I get people talking and thinking, I'm doing what I believe is right.3 points

Long thread title, I know - this is something that happened to me last month or so ago, and it pissed me off more than it scared me. I live on the outskirts of Columbus in one of the "suburbs" and while Ohio is a pretty pro-gun, especially with our laws, most people in Cincin, Cleveland and Columbus from my first hand experience do not like guns. I tried OCing once, and got the cops called on me - they were cool after they stopped pointing their guns at me, and said "while it is legal we strongly discourage it"...I was working on my damn truck. So I just shove it in my waistband now (that's hyperbole) So I figured everyone was a silly liberal or gun-sensitive until one night Im checking my mailbox and I see a green laser dot on the boxes next to me...and lo and behold some [vulgarity intensifies] hanging out his car window and flagging me with his pistol/rifle...damnit. I pull my gun, he (or she/they) speed off and while I should be filled with adrenaline and panicking I was just pissed. Found out the dude lives here, is a ROTC cadet (shocker) but is one of those Oathkeeper/III% dudes. I guess the moral is just because someone is a gun owner/2A supporter doesnt mean theyre cool/good people - all these stupid talking heads like Vickers and Yeager (I have my own reason for disliking Vicky) and sketchy crime dramas and movies showing dudes shooting stuff up and going bananas does not help at all. I guess safety and not being a retard is lost on people. I found the kid and managed to explain to him without raising my blood pressure that "pointing guns at your neighbor is bad, mkay" his excuse was "he was drunk"...so another PSA: dont drink and drive/ride and brandish your POS weapon with a laser at dudes. Guess this was more of a rant than a PSA. I feel like I reacted underwhelmingly but having a wife/kid and getting into bad stuff with bad people who are more dangerous has tempered me. What would anyone have done? Im not going to shoot at a car that might have kids in it or call the cops on someone who drives away; talking is the best/most legal course of action I coild have taken and he seemed more like a sniveling fatboy than a felon.2 points

I decided to buy a new one. The Hillary hole doesn't bother me much! I like the 2.5 inch barrel. Also, the barrel is not overclocked like I've seen on other new Smiths. Already ordered a Simply Rugged holster last week. Here it is next to my EDC, a Glock 19, for a size comparison. Looking forward to breaking it in Thursday! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

It was a state court in Oregon, but it reads as though the court ruled, it went to appeals, and they upheld their ruling OK of the carry permit and the MMJ. http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/A-gun-permit-and-a-medical-marijuana-card-2375446.php Like Dave, I would have no problem marking the correct box and moving on with my day. As mentioned by others, thats a no-no. Stupid laws get ignored, I think I read that here...2 points

I'd question it's effectiveness as a recruiting tactic. I think it's true purpose is public relations/PSYOPS/IO...whatever you want to call it. The public will care about inflated DoD budgets or contracting programs run amuck if they're conditioned to "support the troops" via attending/watching football games and NASCAR events.2 points

see, thats where we are just two very different people Dusty. If the presance of a drone upset me that much for whatever reason, and ESPECIALLY if I think they're filming, I plan to strip buck azz nekkid and do the macarena. If the tomfoolery persists I may give my car a sexy car wash while blasting some Def Leppard. You know what they say, "Heavy like a bomb baby, come and get it on." Nobody wants to see that. Nobody. I may not own my airspace, but I anticipate it will remain unpolluted.2 points

Sounds like a swell guy and the result of some fantastic parenting. Kinda like the idiots that point weapon-mounted lasers all around the gun store. If he's an ROTC cadet, find out where and have a talk with his commanding officer.2 points

I agree that people could do that, but if they really wanted to take pictures of you or your property, it is magnitudes easier just to use a normal zoom camera.2 points

The leftists think I'm some sort of crazy right winger because I simply suggest that people should be free. The right wingers think I'm some sort of crazy leftist for the very same reason. Neither one realizes that they are the same as the other. As for hopping on a plane, I think I'll just stay put because the government is the one that sucks. I'm just gonna keep asking "why not try freedom instead?"2 points

Here's an example. It's Friday evening and I just bought a motorcycle. I stuck my 642 in a pocket*, hopped on it and rode down to the local bar* to show it off to some friends. It's a nice cool evening, so I left my helmet at home*. I had a beer*, visited for a while then went over to another friend's house. We smoked a joint*, hung out for a few hours and I went home. 1- I don't have a HCP. 2- I don't have a motorcycle license, bought it used on Craigslist. 3- TN has a helmet law. 4- I'm pocket carrying a .38 like always. TN doesn't define "under the influence" with regard to alcohol and carrying so it's likely my consumption of one beer is a violation of the law. 5- It's illegal in the state of TN go grow, posses, or use marijuana. All of those things are violations of the law, yet there are no victims. These things are freedoms that the government has eagerly stripped away with no justification. Some folks see the government as the storm shelter, and some of us see them as the tornado.2 points

Another case of the legal system not keeping up with technology. I doubt there will ever be laws that will allow someone to shoot down a drone unless it presents a threat. You can’t shoot someone for trespassing on your property. So I assume it will be addressed in trespass laws. To me its just common sense. You don’t fly a drone over other people’s property without permission. But if someone does; you don’t get to shoot it.2 points

This whole thing is upside down. Free speech isn't free of consequences, EXCEPT by the government. In real life, what you say has consequence. Kaepernick is free to say whatever he wants and everyone else is free to say whatever they want in response. There is no defense for Kaepernick necessary nor should there be condemnation for those who speak against him. Lecturing those who disagree with Kaepernick about free speech etc. is the epitome of the pot calling the kettle black while the pot is filled with arrogant hypocrisy.2 points

I still find it very difficult to classify him as such. Though some of the information he leaked helped bring issues to light, he also released much that was harmful to the US. Of course all he did was confirm the information, many already knew what was going on.1 point

this is an area that needs an official legal ruling. I certainly hope when one does come that it favors the land owner. I live inside the city limits, so I can't shoot one. But I got a water hose with a good nozzle.1 point

What do you need information on? Get a good belt and don't save a buck on a holster. I carry both iwb and owb a FN FNS9 without worrying about being "made". I'm 5'9" and "fit" for 39 years. There are a million combinations of belts and different holsters. It feels like everyone is staring at you but they aren't. The smart phones have taken everyone's awareness and flushed it.1 point

Love the thread already. My favorite overall? My CZ 75 Compact. Too heavy to carry all day, though. My best shooter and favorite carry 9? Ruger SR9c. Most accurate 9 I've ever owned. Favorite carry .45 is my Glock 36.1 point
