That sums it up. I don't have a problem with people bringing their pets into stores. I don't even have a problem if the dog isn't perfectly behaved. The problem I have is with those people who try pass their pets off as a service animal when they are obviously not service animals. I view it the same way as when someone parks in a handicap spot who does not have a disability.5 points

Heck, I generally like seeing even poorly behaved dogs most of the time. I saw someone's "service dog" with a vest going absolutely bonkers in Target the other day. biting on it's leash, pulling, jumping, dashing in every direction. I chuckled to myself at the owner's frustration over her lack of control and thought, "I bet you're really rethinking bringing your dog in here with the vest you got off eBay." About that time, the dog pooped right in the middle of the aisle. The lady bent down to try to address it with the dog's leash still in her hand. About that time the dog dashed towards something that caught it's eye and the lady found herself flat on her back having fallen in poop. It may be childish - but I laughed about it most of the afternoon.5 points

For the most part, service animals or not, I usually enjoy seeing dogs in public places such as Lowes, Petsmart, etc. Saw a few at the newly opened (as in opened last week) Rural King in Sweetwater last Sunday. Heck, as long as they are well behaved I figure the more dogs the merrier. Generally speaking it's all the damn people I can't stand - especially all the little brats whose parents let them run around as if they are on the playground and not in a store. My dog hardly ever goes with places with me, however. If I am going to town to pick up something to eat (call ahead and pick up) I will sometimes let her ride but otherwise she mostly doesn't go. She is good with people but not always so good with other dogs despite having been socialized to them at an early age. If she weren't so unpredictable when it comes to other animals I would probably take her more places with me (although not to the grocery store, etc.) Knoxville and the surrounding area is becoming more and more dog friendly with dogs allowed on the outdoor/patio areas of many restaurants. It would be fun to take her with me to, for instance, the biergarten at Schulzbrau but I know it wouldn't be a good idea.5 points

People probably shouldn't get too worried...yet. I'm not convinced that what we saw yesterday was anything more than the DACA "negotiations" a couple of weeks ago. And, you see where that went. I have no doubt that the NRA is out there manning the phones this morning reminding every single member that they've contributed to that they have a list of names waiting to primary them. Yes, hard line positions are out of sync with most of the population. But, most of the population doesn't vote in primaries. That is the ground game that then NRA excels at. Trump is really a non-entity here. Sure, he'll do just about anything to move the "they like me" needle. He lacks a fundamental understanding of policy. But, he doesn't make laws - he signs them after Congress passes them. There are 535 people who have to come to consensus before you really have to worry about what Trump is going to do.5 points

Yep. You guys warned me, and I didn't listen. I felt molested yesterday. I still couldn't stomach voting for Hillary. That was simply not an option. I'd sure like a good option for once.5 points

From a source I can't reveal here, I'm told that Enterprise has been particularly hard-hit by negative response to their announcement, which has caused them to lose out on a major land acquisition they were in the process of negotiating...with a gun owner who has now refused to sell his property to them.4 points

“I think they should have taken them away - whether they had the right or not.” Obama (or Hillary) would have known better than to say this out loud.4 points

Nobody wanted to hear that when it was pointed out before the election...4 points

Had Obama said “take their guns first and worry about due process later” violence might have erupted and the GOP would have tripped over one another trying to vote for articles of impeachment.4 points

Man, the lefties are chomping at the latest anti-Trump bit. I'm going to go with a wait and see approach with this; with some letters to our reps of course. Too much BS is being thrown out there right now, just like after Sandy Hook, but not a dang thing was done then, except the shortages of course. So far it's a bunch of rhetoric from both sides, I expect another "squirrel" event to take this unto the back page of the paper soon. And to be perfectly honest, I'd sooner elect a rock instead of Hillary, but will blast Trump as I would Hillary when it comes to our rights. If he is as smart as many think he is, he is well aware what an anti-gun bill would do to his base, and he has no chance without us.3 points

Hmmm...very little of the "would of been worse with Hillary" train of thought at the moment. Probably because at least with Hillary, the Republicans would still have been the opposition party and felt a need to hold the line on this. Now, they're stuck in the dilema on what happens if they take a position opposite of a President who wouldn't hesitate to cut them down to size in a very public way if he felt undercut. If there is more than a token challenger in the 2020 primary for him, I'll be surprised. One of the more interesting things over the last 18 months or so is how Trump has remade the Republican party in his image. Some of that was expected when he took the White House based on his grassroots support, but the alacrity with which the party has bent the knee is noteworthy. He even got the head of the RNC (Reince's successor and Mitt Romney's niece) to drop her maiden name and go from Ronna Romney McDaniel to Ronna McDaniel in all public matters. He even has Lindsey Graham kissing his ass on Twitter from time to time recently. The position may be closer, but position isn't the metric to go by...enthusiasm is. Anyone can be for or against something, but it's those who are willing to make it their single issue that determine if the topic will have any real change. Right now, the numbers for enthusiasm in the pro gun camp outnumber the anti gun camp. That's why Bloomberg's groups and the rest can huff and puff, and we still have all our guns (for the moment).3 points

Yet all the Trump supporters are going "it's ok, he's saving the country." Bull####. The stupidity on this side of the isle is equal to that of the left.3 points

I seriously doubt Delta is too worried about it right now. They haven’t had the tax break in a few years and Georgia is not going to sacrifice 33,000 jobs from that one airline alone. Don’t forget, Atlanta’s Airport is the busiest in the country, perhaps the world. Republicans standing up to corporations is simply theater to distract the masses from what is really going on...and will happen.2 points

I’m probably lucky that I live in a place where I don’t have the need to think about filming stuff. Or maybe it’s a generational thing. But I’ll tell you, it wouldn’t have crossed my mind in 100 years to pull out my phone and fIlm. I suppose it could just be me, though. Other than someone driving unsafely while my kids are nearby, I can’t remember the last time a stranger really offended me. Life is really short.2 points

Absolutely. The health care industry players have a strong incentive to support and develop the "more health care" movement. Superficially it seems great - we label more problems as "medical conditions", people get more medicine, gov't pays, the industry's profits increase every year, and we keep reducing the amount of bothersome and awkward (i.e. meaningful) in-person interaction with other human beings. But consider the insidious effects on society. Say I take my car to the shop for an oil change. The mechanic does his work, but when he tries to hand me the bill I say, "No, I'm not paying. Bill the government, because I have a right to automotive care." Sounds crazy. I'm trying to say that hundred years ago the majority of Americans would have thought it impossible for one man to have a right to another man's labor without paying him. Now half the nation talks about the "right to health care" as though it is a notion dating back to Voltaire and Montesquieu - and they spread the idea via social media. (I recognize the irony and hypocrisy of me making this statement in an online discussion forum; mea culpa.)1 point

I wonder if Trump thinks out loud, saying whatever pops into his mind, and then assesses the idea and the response it generates? It is not always a bad way to think especially when brainstorming for new creative ideas. Saying something and doing it are two different things.1 point

My takeaway was a bit different. Well behaved dog, regardless of “service” dog status =cool Il-mannered dog, regardless of “service” dog status = not cool pretending that your untrained cur is a “service” dog= really un-####ing-cool1 point

I have a Malinois/ Shepherd cross that goes literally everywhere I go. She’s nine months old and has been by my side since she was 8 weeks and a day. Training this dog is part of my lifestyle, and when we do go places I’m proud to say she is better behaved than most children I see. She’s no service dog, but we’ve never been questioned beyond “can I pet her” which is usually answered with “no”. We are at work when we’re in public.1 point

I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch over this...yet. To me it's nothing but posturing right now. Emotions are high which facilitates political theater on both sides. Once the details are worked out then I'll judge. I find it comical to see folks who fussed about national reciprocity being a bad idea are aggravated that Trump wants it as a separate bill. Raising the age to 21 to purchase a rifle? Why is that age ok with a pistol but not a rifle? If your child is responsible can't the parent still buy them a rifle as I'm sure many have done with pistols? Seizing weapons on a simple complaint is another issue. If there is a clear-cut process to return their property rather than LEO's being able to keep/sell it then I'm open to it: however, there should be legal repercussions should the complaint be found to be a lie. Your neighbor getting pissed at you and telling the police that you threatened him when you didn't should be liable for your legal fees, for example.1 point

Let me explain my rationale. In a school, hallways can be 200 feet long. Just from one classroom door to another is more than 30 feet. If you engage a school shooter, it's likely to be somewhere in between those distances. If I fire all 7 rounds from 3 doors down (90+ feet), I'm out of the fight. The shooter can advance on me or run away. He can shoot more kids. If I still have 4 rounds, he is trapped. He can't come towards me down the hallway or retreat without being a target. He can't shoot any more kids. That's really the objective. Now, if I turn a corner and the shooter is 10 feet away, well, I might as well empty the mag because one of us is going down real quick.1 point

Templar is rocking! We finally joined as a member to save money in the long term on range time (free Tuesday-Thursday). Took my wife to date night in January. They had a local restaurant (not a chain) cater and had two hours on the range. Was fun ... will be doing it again. I also did my CC class there. I had a carry permit in the 90s in Louisiana, but lived in WI for many years, leaving just before they passed CC and just hadn't gotten around to it here. Excellent instruction. Great people, fine education, good selection (especially Glock) and very fine range. They are heavily active with TN NRA and Appleseed. They're having Glock competitions, Glock armorer school and other events. I highly recommend them.1 point

Agreed. The gun doesn't work reliably; Sig should have some integrity and admit that instead of trying to pretend it's because of operator error. I still think Sig will likely fix the problems -- remember that the S&W Shield and the Springfield XDS were also recalled pretty much immediately after their introduction, and they got those guns straightened out. Making tiny 9mms work reliably is apparently a difficult task. But we know it can be done. When the post-recall versions get down to around the $425 mark, I expect I'll own one. Cheers, Whisper1 point

I was able to buy my old duty gun because we switched over to Gen 5 G17 in 9mm. This may be a regular old Glock 22 but it saved my life in March 15, 2012. I was able to pick it up today and its now all mine. I wont go into all the detail but when I needed it to fire it did. I was holding it with one hand and standing quite awkward. So for it to run when I needed it to , it shined. I got an Alpha Wolf 40-9mm conversion barrel and even a Glock 17 extractor , and the correct spring and plunger for it to be converted to 9mm. I'll still switch it back over to .40S&W to shoot some here and there but mainly 9mm through it.1 point
