  8. I'm don't subscribe to a deity, but I did spend some time in a church as a kid without it catching on fire, so I learned a little. I can't help but compare people in dire straits who haven't gotten the vaccine to that story of a man on a rooftop during a flood who had a weather report, a rowboat, and a helicopter that could have given him safety at different times, but he sent them all away because he felt God would protect him. Then after he died in the flood, he asked God what happened, only to learn God had sent the report, the rowboat, and the helicopter. I hope all of them come out okay, and I hope anyone still hesitant considers what we're seeing.

  12. Greg those are the "fun" times of driving cars and trucks that don't have a monthly payment on them. I would rather put a few hundred dollars into some repairs every now and then than pay $750 up for a monthly note. I own debt free 4 vehicles that cost me total $7,500. Now I have spent $9,000 or so in repairs over the course of 8 years,so that figures purchase price plus repairs to a little over $500 per year per vehicle. I am on the lookout for a pre computer truck or car, I know how to file points!!!

  15. 7/23/21 had a few Lbs of various Hodgson and Ramshot rifle powders, 5 boxes Rifle primers and a supply of some ammo, various calibers. Paid 2 bucks each for HP .357 factory rounds... but at least they had some!

  19. Welp, my trip out of town got cancelled. Why? Their car broke down and they're busy trying to get it fixed. At least I got mine fixed today. Looks like trouble comes in bunches.

  20. Went to Crossroad Firearms in Fountain City, this afternoon to get a shotgun out of lay-a-away. They have plenty of 115gr and 124gr FMJ, in 50 rd boxes, going for $19.99 a box.

  21. They have them stockpiled waiting for chips. Keep your powder dry, I see a huge new car buying opportunity before long. I'm sort of needing one as well, but plan to wait a while.

  33. Phil has claimed that he is in good shape for his age and not at risk. He's run a risk analysis based on the information available and felt he wasn't at risk of death. People can be wrong, or sometimes the odds just bite you in the ass.

  34. I just got an email from Academy advertising Blazer aluminum for $14.99/box online and in store. Get it before Biden does, lol.

  35. We all make our own bed, I know I've made mine, and no amount of fear mongering will convince me to take this vaccine. There is just too much bogus BS being shoved down our throats to make me believe they have our good interest in mind. With what this country has gone through, in the last couple of years nothing, absolutely nothing, will convince me that our current administration is on the up and up on this, and many other things.

  36. The writing off of student loans erks me something fierce. It's a loan, the last time I borrowed money I had to pay it back with interest. Printing more and more money is a special kind of stupid too.

  38. That is absolutely normal. No test rides without cash in hand. I have never test ridden a bike unless it was a dealer. The stories of people wrecking bikes on test rides and then leaving the owner (or owners insurance) high and dry on the repairs are far to common. I have never allowed anyone to ride any of my bikes without cash in hand. I will let them sit on it, I will start it, I will run it up and down the road in front of them but unless they have handed me a wad of cash they are not going to ride it out of my garage. If they ride it and find some issue or wish to back out of the deal for whatever reason I will negotiate or simply hand them their money back.

  39. I remember this day, Apr.25, 1967, as if it was yesterday. We were on a search & destroy mission in "Nam, walked into an ambush. I was hit twice with auto weapons fire in the R. leg, several times with the old Chicom "tater" masher grenades. Some of the fragments are still in there. Spent 16 mos. in an Army hospital, almost lost the R. leg, still got it tho., even if it is a bit shorter that the left. A couple of others were hit the same time I was. Another guy was killed later. We were almost overrun, but managed to fight our way out of it, wiped them out. Not one of my better days.

  41. About 12 yo would take . 22 on bikes and ride 5 mi in country to a private dump owned by large factory. It had cool stuff to shoot dumped daily including a pile of garbage from lunchroom and fast as lightning rats. one day we found part of a guard shack dumped with paddlelock still in place. My buddy see too many cowboy movies tried to shoot the lock off and I feel a hammer to chest from the ricochet and was in a daze for a couple minutes from lowley.22 then looked down at my chest in a white T and small spot of blood getting bigger and bigger. Miles from a phone or hospital made my way home and lived, guess it stuck in breast bone and being I did not die I snuck in changed shirt and tossed old one. Never mentioned it as it would have been end of taking gun out.

  45. Those of us that have more primers than they will ever need to loosen up. Heck, I was selling to Tennessee guys primers last winter for $40.00 a brick, any favor. Just donated a brick of 209 shot shells primers to a collage student trying for the Nationals. Come on guys, this is the Volunteer State. The more of us that have ammo, the lesser chance of someone ( foreign or domestic) taken away our gun rights.

  46. From what I read you have the 1911 and could trade for the SA .357? Keep the 1911, feed it heavy loads and go. SA revolvers are great for hunting and very fine handguns. I would not choose an SA revolver for defensive use. The .45 is all you need for small black bears. use solid bullets not hollow points, save the HPs for two legged predators. If it were a DA .357 then it would be whichever you prefer.

  47. I’d say the 1911 would be the logical choice over a SA revolver for defense. Higher capacity, ballistically more than sufficient for the task, faster into action, and easier to use with a single hand. Just my opinion though.

  48. I would go with the GI 1911. More rounds and a heck of a lot easier to reload if you have to.

  49. I'd be more concerned about 2 legged predators than those. And I'd definitely want a double action, not a single action.
