A few of my memories from when my son was an undergraduate recruiting assistant for Billy Napier. My son said Saban didn’t normally allow the bottom feeders to get a SEC Championship rings. This must have been special to Saban. I blurred out the last name on the ring. Those who’ve interacted with me know it. Unfortunately the G.O.A.T. wasn’t as generous with National Championship rings. I was all over that place, even in Saban’s private office. The coolest thing I saw was the old anti-gravity treadmill they used to get Mark Ingram ready for the natty. It cost a fortune at the time. Those are Mark Ingram and Derrick Henry’s Heisman Trophies. A little off topic, but my son is finishing up his PhD at Florida, and he says Napier is still a down to earth guy after all these years.

Just FYI to everyone here, I went into Opry Mills mall the other day and spotted gunbuster signs at the exit from Bass Pro into the mall itself. I have no idea how long they've been up since I go there once in a great while, but I don't remember them being there the last time I was there. Personally I don't think I would go to Opry Mills without a weapon of some sort, but you make your own decisions. Just providing some info.

Alright everyone, I think I have a heart breaker on my hands. If my research is correct, this a model 1917 Commercial version. Should be so so soooo sweet. Yet, at some point, someone replaced those plain walnut stock grip with a weirdly orange plastic one. Absolutely heartbreaking. However, it is still a very rare find. From my research only around 1,000 of the "truly" commercial models remain in existence. It is easy to prove that this is a commercial vs a military refurbished by the S&W insignia being on the left side, which only the commercial had, and the fact that the finish is factory nickel not blued. As always, I am sure some of you experts in these old Smiths know more than me and can correct any mistakes I have made. I'm looking at my S&W standard catalog 4th edition on page 192-193 for my information. Serial number is 179833. Since the stocks are plastic for a tricked out rocky top look (Go big orange?) I will be asking $500 OBO since even though it is rocky top orange it is still considered a "rare find" by the standard catalog but I am willing to hear reasonable offers.

Dad loves finding cool little tools to give as Christmas presents to my brother and me. The one he found this year will be very helpful. How many times do you need to figure out what size a random bolt or nut is? Usually I take it to the hardware store and start trying it out until I find out what size it is. With this tool I can now figure out out pretty much any odd bolt or nut I have. It has standard and metric and different thread pitches. Pretty simple idea but it will be very useful.

I shot Contenders and Encores for years. There were no 30-06 factory Contender barrels built to my knowledge. Too much pressure. Try to fit it in the frame. Bet you a dollar it won’t fit.

Not that it will stop these idiots from passing a law they know is unconstitutional, but the SCOTUS has already ruled that an infringement on ammo is the same as an infringement on firearms. Sadly, the twits that pass these laws have unlimited tax payer dollars to defend these laws in court.

Military is limited to FMJ ammo by the rules of war. Which makes sense in a combat zone. Kill an enemy soldier and you take him out of the fight. Wound an enemy soldier and you then need at least one, probably two men to care for and evacuate him. Thereby taking up to three men out of the fight. Civilian ammo is designed to do as much damage as possible with a single round to achieve a one shot stop or a clean kill on a game animal. Lots of people buy surplus military ammo because its generally pretty cheap compared to commercial ammo and many don't know the difference. So they use it for self defense or in some cases, crimes. Once again, the antis have no idea what they're talking about.

I have always had a problem seeing those gun buster signs. It's like they just fade into the background. I finally went and got my KY permit. They don't have that stupid law here. You can walk right past a sign here. All they can do is try to get you on trespassing.

Those holes around the bottom edge of the HVAC are supposed to be there. They let water out and air flow in. Yes, critters can get through those holes and that's fine. At the rear of the unit closest to the house where the return and main trunk connect, that lower edge should be solid with no holes. Small critters can get around underneath the unit, but there shouldn't be a passage for them to exit to the rear of the unit towards the house. On the subfloor, I wouldn't glue the panels you make, no matter what they're made of. You want to retain easy access to those plumbing fittings if possible. Sheet metal would be fine if you have that laying around. Plywood is easier to work with to me, but YMMV. All you need is any kind of solid material that's easy to attach with screws.

I have two friends that are brothers and diehard Bama fans. Their Mom is elderly and lives alone, they both check on her daily. The oldest called his brother when the news broke and said “are you sitting down?”, he said “no, is it Mom?” The oldest brother said”No! It’s worse, Saban retired!”.

P.S. I would NOT foam at the tub openings. That will make it near impossible to get that plumbing undone if that's ever needed in the future. Basically you're making removable plywood access panels.

Dead Right There (DRT). The military trains to shoot at center mass, which is a large target, think chest. An MOA at 100 yards is roughly a 1" circle, at 300 Yards, its about 3" circle. At 300 Yards, which is about the farthest you want to engage normally, a 3 MOA is about a 9" circle, so well within the chest of your target. So it's not as bad as it sounds, but many soldiers are not crack shots, so that can expand that circle much more, but any hit is a good hit.

The military operates by a very different set of requirements and limitations for the ammo they utilize. What is appropriate for a .mil context generally doesn’t fit the needs of the civilian shooter, and the opposite holds true as well.

I have both a grey and a black SBA3. They are the brace only. No hardware. $50 for either.

I’m surprised by this I would think our military should have the best most effective ammunition to defend the country what is DRT What calibers do they consider military grade. Thanks for information interesting article

@-boatman-Make sure you don't also suffer in silence. if it's unbearable, bring it up to your doc just to be on the safe side. I haven't had it done myself, but I know a few people who did and it was a major improvement once they got over the hump. Good luck to ya buddy.

Agree with John on the lower. Unless you are getting ambi controls there isn't a lot of difference between the parts. I like the Aero M4E1 series as they have some upgrades that make assembly a bit easier with the addition of set screws rather than roll pins. Most impactful piece you will notice on the lower is the controls and the trigger, I would go cheap on the lower with an anderson or PSA Mil-Spec and spend the money on a nice radian safety and larue MBT trigger.

I bought a $300 Yeswelder on Amazon. It's MIG or Flux-core, 220V only. No, it sure isn't a Lincoln, but for a guy like me who occasionally welds a project it seemed like the ticket. But be aware that you're going to pay $300 for a bottle of gas, too. And if you want to weld aluminum then you'll need another bottle of gas. And you'll need a cart, too. But that's true of any welder you buy. Edit: I almost forgot that I had to run a new 50A service as well. $7.80 a foot for the wire. So even the cheap welders aren't cheap.

For the first 20 years my resume looked like the Yellow Pages--newspaper writing, ad agency, hot-shot delivery and other odd jobs. When the wife found me, I was a scumbag scuba diving instructor. A couple of years later the Lord found me and eventually brought me into airline maintenance and then training mechanics. I retired off that after 16 years and now live comfortably with my retired nurse/wife. Yes, you can switch careers in later life, but I recommend doing so with Divine approval.

I have red dots on all my pistols now. I use 6 moa on all of them zeroed at 10 yards. If you think about MOA, a 6 MOA dot will cover 6" at 100 yds or roughly the size of an average face. It decrease to 3" at 50, 1.5" at 25, and so on. So it is plenty big for use in a defensive situation and still small enough to use with some accuracy. In fact, I find it easier to use at range vs. a smaller dot as it is easier to track in the window in recoil. As for brands, unfortunately the Chi-commers are leaps and bounds ahead of anyone else in regards to features at price points that make them very hard to argue with. I have used RMRs, Leupold DPP, Sig Romeos, and have settled on Holosun EPS/EPSc and the SCS if you have a Glock MOS. I've never had any issues out of my Holosuns like I did out of the aforementioned brands.
