1. Police are warning all men who frequent clubs, parties & local pubs to be alert and stay cautious when offered a drink by any woman. Many females use a date-rape-drug on the market called ' Beer ' . The drug is found in liquid form and is available anywhere. It comes in bottles, cans, or from taps and in large kegs. Beer is used by female sexual predators at parties and bars to persuade their male victims to go home and sleep with them. A woman needs only to get a guy to consume a few units of Beer and then simply ask him home for no-strings-attached sex. Men are rendered helpless against this approach. After several Beers, men will often succumb to the desires to sleep with horrific looking women to whom they would never normally be attracted. After drinking Beer , men often awaken with only hazy memories of exactly what happened to them the night before, often with just a vague feeling that 'something bad' occurred. At other times these unfortunate men are swindled out of their life's savings, in a familiar scam known as     'a relationship'.     In extreme cases, the female may even be shrewd enough to entrap the unsuspecting male into a longer-term form of servitude and punishment referred to as 'marriage'.     Men are much more susceptible to this scam after Beer is administered and sex is offered by the predatory females.     Please forward this warning to every male you know.     If you fall victim to this 'Beer' scam and the women administering it, there are male support groups where you can discuss the details of your shocking encounter with similarly victimized men.     For the support group nearest you, just look up 'Golf Courses'     in the phone book.

  2. I was driving through northern Illinois last night listening to a call-in program on WGN in Chicago.  People were calling in all upset about the goat's head sent to Cubs owner Tom Ricketts at Wrigley Field. Some guy called in from Indiana and said, "Why are you all so upset cause someone sent a goat's head to Wrigley Field?  Aren't you the guys that sent a horse's ass to the White House". I almost ran off the road!

  6. That would be the best thing that could happen for the NRA.  I would say "don't let the door hit you in the ass!".  Act like idiots and people will treat you like idiots.

  7. Meant to post this a while back. The Appleseed program finally has a range in East TN again. And it's conveniently located in Wear's Valley. Here's the schedule. There was also one a couple weeks ago, but I'm a slacker and didn't post in time. For those unfamiliar, Appleseed teaches the very basics of rifle marksmanship. The six steps to firing the shot, NPOA, trigger control, etc. And as a bonus they throw in a history lesson about the events of April 19,1775. All at an affordable price because they are non-profit. Even the instructors are volunteers. http://appleseedinfo.org/search-states-location.php?locationid=534&id_event=2972

  12. "It was Mike Gideon who called" is what I said but what she probably heard "It was My Girlfriend who called". By the way I am glad she didn't ask what you were wearing because had you said "Tan Khakis" she would have really thought something was up.   Don't worry, your next trip to K-Town I will remind her it was you that called. :)

  13. I was building a shop for my business and our house that we had for sell surprised us and sold close to Christmas couples years ago. We decided to make half the shop living space and office and other half storage. I let my wife do the bathroom and kitchen just like she wanted. Have a 1500 sqft living area. When we build our house It will become business only. My mortgage on my building is half what my house was. Worked out good so far. 14. Well, went to the range this morning. Had two guns to shoot I bought but had never shot. First one was the M four 22lr I bought from Jonathan. Gun performed flawlessly and was dead on at distance he said it is sighted in at. Disappointed in myself. It has been years since I shot a long gun without a Bi-pod in sitting position and it only took one magazine to remind me of why. First magazine dead on at 50 yards and every round center mass. By the end of first magazine shoulders were killing me with pain. I put in second magazine and had to quit shooting half way through it because of shoulder pain and could not hit center of target. Rested shoulders and finished 2nd mag. Got out bi-pod and sat down with third magazine and new target. 25 rounds could cover hole with half dollar center mass. Great gun, broken old man shooting.  Also shot a LCP I have bought and never shot so moved target to 15 feet and went through 2 mags 14 rounds all in the red so will be keeping that one for my Get Off Me pocket gun. Now have to decide what to do about M four 22lr since I will not beat myself up trying to shoot it.  Getting old sucks!!!!! ..................... :ugh: :ugh: :ugh:

  15. I've been looking into having a couple of rifles ceracoated but wasn't completely sure what I wanted. Rather than spend the money to have something done that I wasn't sure about I decided to take it into my own hands. I bought $10 worth of flat camo paint (used less than half), grabbed some cedar trimmings and a scrap of hardware cloth and went to it. I will admit that it was hard to pull the trigger on the paint so I closed my eyes and made a quick pass. Once there was some paint on the rifle it got really easy. Here are a few pics,

  17. It's a good deal, but if you are concerned about the grip, a double stack probably isn't for you. I have a model 39, which is a single stack predecessor to the pistol you are looking at, and it feels much better in my hands than the 5903.   They are good shooting guns.   I'll bet these are police trade ins. Probably carried a lot and fired little.

  21. Fair deal on a good pistol. If I were going to carry it, I'd get the 5903. If its purpose was to be a range toy, I'd go 5906. I have a 3913 (compact single stack alum frame 9mm) and absolutely love it. Fantastic shooter, and not a single hiccup. Those 2nd & 3rd Gen Smith autos are just great. I love my M&Ps too, but those older guns are so cool looking/feeling. I just have one more M&P to get (5" 9 Pro) and then I'll get back to building the collection of Smith steel autos.

  23.   If you buy from Buds, they have a list of FFL dealers they ship to. If there is a nearby dealer you like working with, ask him about having it transferred there. Transfer fees are pretty much whatever the receiving dealer wants to charge you.   There is a dealer here in the Nashville area. D&T Arms, that gives TGO members a break and only asks 15 for the transfer.   I have seen and heard of fees from that to 75 bucks. It all depends on the transferring dealer as to whether he wants to be helpful or just make  money.

Hi, I'm not a gun dealer, but some google fu turned up this:   https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/388/~/permanently-exporting-a-firearm,-gun,-handgun,-rifle,-shotgun,-pistol,-etc.   I'd be willing to bet that you will need an Import license to bring the parts back into Great Britain as well.   Good luck.

  27. The pistol is a great price. But if you plan to buy any more mags the total investment price may get expensive. The mags can be hard to find and are usually pricey when you do find them.   Other than that it's a great pistol. I've shot 2 different ones and they both ran fine.

  28. It's a good deal but I'd fork up the extra cash for the 5906 to get the benefits of a steel frame.

  29.   I already did. There's nothing tactful about in-your-face politics. What's going to happen is that we "conservative" gun toters are going to lose out to being able to carry anywhere.   Why is it we have proper gun etiquette at most sanctioned tournaments, that is, a COLD range, no weapons handling without a range officer's permission on the firing line. Seems we're a well disiplined group in our inner "gun" circles, but you get a bunch of yahoos prancing around in the public with ARs, and that should be okay? I don't know what a guy's intention is with a shouldered AR in public, so why would anyone else? If the same group of OCs came waltzing in any of our cold ranges handling weapons, I guarantee they'd be escorted back out.

  30. I think it is. (provided you have a transfer FFL that's reasonably priced) I bought one and the 5906 for 50 dollars more as well.  Both work perfectly, with quite a bit of holster wear.    Pretty much any fully functional 9mm auto from a reputable manufacturer for at or near 3 bills is worth buying.

  31.   I may actually write the NRA and say I am disappointed they backtracked.  This actually has me thinking of not giving them another dime and I am an endowment member.  This does not help anyone and in fact just alienates more people like myself.  Discretion is the better part of valor.   Edit:  I did send them an email and submitted a response the the NRA-ILA website.  We'll see what they have to say for themselves.  I bet I don't hear a word back.

  33. I never have understood how carrying AR-15's into a restaurant would convince the state of Texas to change their handgun open carry law. I, personally, do not agree that open carry should be illegal. While I normally conceal carry, I don't go to any extra effort to hide it. But to walk into a family restaurant with a rifle is just stupid. Sounds like a good way to get shot by a concealed carrier who might overreact.

  34. The reason the plunger isn't affecting it is because it is in the up position which releases the firing pin. Try putting a thin punch in the firing pin hole and see if you can push the plunger out or try hitting the slide a few times in your hand to release it.
    1 point
  35. Yeah. Looks like the plunger spring is missing. Someone probably took the slide apart and didn't realize there should be a spring there. Moving the firing pin in and out should release the plunger. It is possible firing pin spring pressure is holding if down. I am somewhat familiar but not intimately with 80 series guns. I am thinking maybe the firing pin was forward and the plunger locked it forward for a couple of rounds. What you need to do is order the plunger spring for a series 80 1911. As far as how to get the infer to move I would start by removing the firing pin. That does lock the plunger in place if my memory serves me right. I think I had to slowly release the firing pin and the plunger dropped free. Not sure if it will if the spring is missing. If you want I can PM my number and I can try to talk you through it.

  36. Maybe those open carry groups need to jettison their members that go trolling for attention. They will never achieve their goals because their members do stupid stuff. As long as they back those clowns they will be defined by them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  41. If the hammer is following there are a few things that can cause it. If it is not then replace the firing pin return spring. Also check to make sure the firing pin is rebounding. It is possible for it to slide under the firing pin stop and possibly cause this. A way to prevent it is to chamfer the hole on the back side. If that is if I will say if rarely happens on its own. But if the hammer is falling it is something a little more serious and will require a little more work and cost to repair. If you have been dropping the slide on an empty chamber you have ruined the sear. One of the worst things to do to a 1911 is drop the slide on an empty chamber. I have repaired quit a few guns, especially higher end ones, after friends decided it was cool to drop it over and over again. With sloppy fit 1911's it isn't as big of an issue although it can damage them as well but it does damage 1911's with lighter pulls and no creep triggers a lot quicker. I had a friend who bought a very nice 1911, forget the brand, but it was far outside my price range and was a semi custom gun. He brought it down and we shot it and it was an amazing gun. Well 3 months later he called me because the hammer was falling when he chambered a round. He said 75% of the time it stopped at 1/2 cock but the other 25%it followed it home. I told him to not touch it until I looked at it because it can go offer if the hammer follows it home. I know this because I had a gun do that while I was setting the sear springs. Well when he brought it down the sear nose was rounded over. I asked if he was dropping the slide on an empty chamber and he said he figured it would help the break in if he did that. Well about 30 minutes later we had a new sear in place and it was once again acting like it should. And the other big No-No with 1911's is dropping the slide on a loaded chamber. This will ruin an extractor pretty quickly as well. Sometimes you can tune it back up but more often it requires a new extractor and slide stop to fix the cycling issues. Where are you located?

  43.
be careful where you shoot them things. I shot some out of a M1 carbine once and started a leaf fire on my dirt pile.
I used to downplay the risk of tracers causing fires, I figured as long as I had a proper backstop it would be OK. Well we took some 5.56 Nato military tracers out to a public range one day, it had a huge mountain as a backstop, nothing but hundreds of vertical feet of dirt, covered by some huge fallen timber logs, no loose brush. On the day we were shooting it had been raining like a monsoon for almost 24 hours, and was still pouring so bad that it was difficult to see the targets through the scopes. So everything was completely soaked and muddy. Yet those tracers set the mountainside on fire after just a few shots, and it burned red hot flames despite the rain. We walked up to check it and the wet logs were burning near each point of impact. Took us 15 minutes to put it out, and the owners of the range and all the other shooters were shocked, never seeing anything like it, and we would have bet anything against a fire being started under those conditions. So have fun but please be careful, more careful than you might think necessary.
