  2. I am setting up a new category of member that will be used strictly to memorialize our fallen / dearly departed friends. Thankfully the number of departed is mercifully low for as long as TGO has been around and as many members as we have, but I do not want to risk these accounts and their contributions to the forum ever being lost to a routine "purge" of inactive accounts. Can you help us remember who all should be moved to this group?

  3. Got this one yesterday evening. I’ve only removed the muzzle brake and put on my suppressor QD as well as a different scope. It’s a BLAST to shoot subs with the can. I enjoy my 10.5” .300 blk SBR but this is just more fun for some reason.

  4. A bush hog would cure a lot of California’s fire problems. I saw a commercial recently where one of the foreign car companies pledged to plant 500,000 trees in California. Guess what’s burning there? California politicians won’t let the power companies clean their right of ways, and then sue them when a power line falls and causes a fire. Now they shut the power off during storms to prevent this. That doesn’t make them happy either. I don’t see how anybody with any sense lives there.

  6. I'm not sure that you'd be shooting over 100 yards in a home defense situation. Maybe if you live on acreage in the country, but even in my neighborhood with 1-3 acre lots I don't see many 100 yard shots unless you're gunning for someone checking their mail down by the entrance! I'd keep the 44 and do like someone else suggested and buy a matching hand gun.

  7. Man, 4 years next month. I think of him regularly. When I do, I say a prayer for those of y’all who are still here. And I say a prayer that one day our country will have as much zeal for taking care of our vets as they do for creating new ones.

  12. I wouldn’t say this one flexes. It feels better than the Rem 700 ADL stocks. It doesn’t feel like it was an afterthought but rather that it was designed to be light and agile. In a lighter caliber. For a larger caliber it feels out place to me. Hard to describe I guess haha.

  13. Yea I do realize that but it's not enough to stop the Libs from voting democrats into political positions such as Governor and mayors of the major cities so there is not enough to make the states worth saving!...…..jmho

  16. Most companies don't intentionally put software out with known flaws, otherwise they would patch them. Now, software that wasn't fully vetted, yea all the time, some more than others, but many do it. That is one reason why I became involved with open source programs, the code is out there for anyone to review and you can compile your own copy. I do have something to hide, most everyone does. There are reasons there are doors and locks to bathroom stalls, we all got #### to hide.

  17. I am seriously thinking of ditching our smartphones. I lived a pretty good life pre-cellphone and I can still do it. I have maps, can read the maps, have a landline and an answering machine. And if push comes to shove you can send snail mail via the current postal service. If you need to contact me you can call me at home, come to my home or send a letter. Look at all the options you have and none of them involve me paying $85 per month to have my privacy infringed. I also have a flashlight and a camera, as I use my phone for those 2 tasks more than talking on them. I have about had it with all this "smart" technology. I don't need a smart refrigerator talking to my laptop or T.V., sorry I am old school thru and thru. I can also cook supper without electricity on a gas range

  18. I’ve come to the conclusion that Google is a legitimately evil corporation. More so than most. They refuse to work with the us.mil yet will happily work with Chinese government to develop algorithms that are used to clamp down on dissenters. Apple may not be great, but #### Google.

  19. Any of you who didn't know Marswolf when he was among us... Y'all would have either loved him or hated him. Shannon was an OG badass who up until the very end was serving the country for a few different alphabet soup agencies, doing some really bad things to some really bad people. AND he had great taste in music, could make me laugh like almost no other, and was just a hell of a good guy that I think of often. I'll be pouring a glass of something good tonight and raising it not only in his honor, but in the honor of the others here that we've lost too soon. We may not realize it, but we are definitely diminished each time one of our ranks sets sail for distant shores.

  21. Posting for Tom F from Indiana Randy Harris' teaching continues to deliver. We had a focused group of students intent on learning and getting on with business. We began with the requisite safety discussions and then proceeded to discuss the evolution of vehicle threats, i.e. switching from a carjacking focus to also include the riot scenario. First actions on the range were dry drills from a folding chair followed up with live fire. We worked shooting from the chair in all positions, much like the CRG drills (sans getting off the X). Many shooters were probably introduced to firing positions they had never experienced, which is where having attended CRG courses will make Vehicle Gunfighting go smoother. We are building on the fundamentals. The afternoon had us working with a partner from the seated positions. Shooters got to experience both driver and passenger positions while working the around the angles of engagement. As usual we began running these drills dry before switching to live fire. Now it was time to get customized. We lined up in our vehicles and worked dry presentations to targets placed at multiple angles around our vehicles. This made the student understand what works for their body in their vehicle. I found myself making arrangements to my vehicle to maximize line of sight for various engagement angles. Our final shooting drill was engaging a single target with live fire from inside our own vehicle. Lots of brass in the defroster vent and elsewhere. No vehicle parts were destroyed, so the dry fire work was worth the effort. The tightest line of engagement for me was shooting through my truck's extended cab passenger rear window. We ended the class with a discussion on what is cover vs concealment on a vehicle.
Another worthwhile class, even with practice ammo being as tight as it is. We weren't just shooting groups and patting our selves on the back for paper hole-punching. We were getting to experience first-hand what shooting from inside and around our own vehicle will feel like.
 Timely and valuable.

  22. We joke about people shooting their car but in all honesty it simply comes down to controlling their muzzle and controlling their finger. If they can’t keep from shooting their car from INSIDE it then we probably need to be really suspect of whether they should be pulling a gun out and using it in public.

  23. This can be added to our list of things that need to change with Law Enforcement. I can’t comment on “Open Fields” as I have never heard of it or researched it. But I do know, where I was, Conservation Officers had far more leeway in entering private property without a warrant than we had as Police Officers. They also had different laws on the transportation of firearms under conservation laws. Most Conservation Officers deal with suspects where weapons are involved daily. I would think most would simply knock on the door and asked where the cameras are. I don’t understand the need for surrounding the house with SWAT team tactics. I can only guess. I also don’t understand searching the house without a warrant. Exigent circumstances wouldn’t cover what they did; they obviously planned this for a while. When you are caught dirty; you are caught dirty. Both TRWA and the state AG is covering this up. Of course they don’t want to make statements; they are going to be sued. But that’s not how a legit Law Enforcement agency operates. That’s what we see going on now with Police Departments. Rioting and burning businesses has caused them to be much quicker to release info, make statements and even arrest Officers. I guess since they know hunters won’t do that; so they don’t need to be honest and forthright. Whoever at TWRA started or approved this needs to step up and take responsibility. That’s what honest leaders do when mistakes have been made.
