I carry a 38 spl and 357 most times. If I IWB carry it is an MP 9MM C 2.0. My primary is a 2" 357, 7 shot revolver. Most shootings are 3 rounds or less, if average. Have no problem feeling I am not prepared if forced into a confrontation. When I am on my daughters horse farm, located in Eagleville TN, I carry the 38 with snake shot. I am doing a lot of woods and brush removal right now. Glad snakes are, for the most part, asleep. Got a Hunt X hunting ape on my phone and it is great for finding property lines in wooded areas. We are marking and cutting horse trails on 90 acers. Just finished marking 61 acers yesterday and still have 28 acers left to mark. It is very thick with underbrush and trees. Want to get it marked before snakes come out. I always take snake medicine (38 Spl) with me even now. Just never know. The 38 Spl has been doing self defense duty, mostly successfully, for years. I have learned it isn't the arrow, as much as it is the Indian, that brings a satisfactory conclusion to deadly threats. One must be able to put them where they need to be for a satisfactory conclusion. At soon to be 74 (2 weeks) my want to ability is slowly waning. I am needing to practice more and more, but pray often I will never be forced to call on my waning skills. My mother used a pre model, SW model 10 4" 38Spl revolver, when I was 4(1952), that had a lifelong effect on my life. You younger "whipper snappers", enjoy your youthful abilities. Agent Orange, and age has had a detrimental effect on my later years, however I have found "Jesus Christ" so I got the dying taken care of. Listen up guys! IMO, it ain't bull hocky. Peace with death in life, belief in Jesus Christ is the answer. Bible says He is the only way, and "I believe it."

I'm a regular there as it's only a couple of miles from home. If you can, show up on Saturday for an early lunch as Saturdays are the only day they have peach cobbler. I suggested "early" as they often sell out of peach cobbler. For a first visit, I'd suggest anything (sandwich or plate) with sliced brisket. When looking the menu, if you want to carry (just) leftovers home, the 2 or 3 meat plates are a good option. Also be sure to try the southwest potatoes. As an aside, Frank not only owns Shaffer's Meats, but also the local gun range Eagle Eye.

How much sales tax goes to the Federal Government?

The vast majority of .38 carriers go for the small frame snubbies due to concealability and/or light weight. Larger revolvers have more or less fallen out of favor. There's just too many small semi-autos these days plus the current focus is on ammo capacity. I rarely carry a 4". However, my favorite carry revolvers are 3" S&W K-frame (medium frame) guns. I have 3" Models 10 & 13 that a carry at times. Although the Model 13 is actually a .357, its usually loaded with .38 Special +P ammo.

As much as I love my old 4” 686, I rarely carry it except to hunt with. I carry this on me a whole lot of the time, if I’m not toting my 1911. Smith and Wesson Model 66 .357. It’s the later model with the 2.75” barrel. I’m always skeptical of Smith’s guns with that stupid heritage-ruining lock, but I bought this one from a gentleman on here several years ago and it’s been my nearly constant companion ever since. I usually keep it stoked with Underwood .38 +P 158 grain. This one paired with my beloved little pre-lock 640 makes a superb combo.

What those nitwits are absolutely incapable of understanding is they corralled a chit load of new sales tax by going into Ebay and GB. We all were PO'ed about it but business moved on. Now with this ass a nine 1099-K move, they will lose a portion of the sales tax AND tick off alot of voters. Half a brain would have said, leave sleeping dogs the hell alone! And the dopes wondered how the hell did Trump ever get elected...... I dont file long form so a small itemization more than likely wont add up to more than a standard deduction. Thats what's going to kill my little pocket change I enjoyed from Ebay. Same reason I don't hold a C&R but for the 3 years at a time. Who needs those feds potentially up their but hole on a permanent basis?

I think Reefer was basically asking if it is safe or if significantly better performance can be obtained with magnum vs reg small pistol primers in .357 handloads just to recap my opinion is that regular primers work just fine but I can understand where one might want the assurance of a stronger base material when approaching higher pressure loads* Considering primer availability, I would just load away and as always work up your load. Meaning watching the cases for bulging or primer deformation as you go from a starting load to a more powerful one. There is quite a bit about magnum vs regular primers on the internet. I tend to trust people who do their own testing rather than those just regurgitate opinion. I’ve been making 1911 grips for a few years now after I got tired of not getting what I truly wanted from other sites. I recently started playing with fractal burning for cutting boards and what not, so I decided to try it on some grips. I pulled out a set of oak stave and walnut to see how the 10k volts react to the different woods. What are your thoughts? Should I do a resin fill to give them some color? I’ve been a fan of walnut and blue but it may be a bit flashy for my carry pistols.

I appreciate it, I keep around 50 or so species of wood in the shop myself. Not working in Atlanta anymore limits what I can put my hands on here in Clarksville. I’m a fan of getting to see all aspects of a block before buying, I’ve been disappointed a few too many times from online warehouses.

The problem with all this is that, as a few here have stated, the new $600 trigger seems to include any economic activity. Sure, a job done would be included in that, but not a sale. Stores don't add up all their sales and report that as income. All their expenses are deducted, and their net income is taxed. So keep track of what you have paid for everything, because the IRS can tax you only on a positive difference between your cost and your proceeds. The $600 reporting requirement seems to presume it's all income. That's only true if it cost you nothing. This is going to be such a nightmare for millions of people. Say you bought a car for $30,000. A few years later you sell it to a dealer for $18,000. You DON'T have $18,000 in income by any measure. There's $0 income in that. If that dealer has to send in a 1099, well, that's just as insane as eBay having to do it. For eBay and Gunbroker to be pumping out these 1099s is absolutely ludicrous. The IRS is still way behind in processing millions of tax returns from the 2020 tax year. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere we go! Keep all receipts and and detailed records of everything you buy! It's amazing our (few) sensible politicians are not screaming about this.

I did. Got my first ever flu shot back in 01 or 02 and got the world class Olympic gold medal ass-whipping super flu a month or two later. I don’t believe the shot caused it, but it sure as hell didn’t help me. After that, I decided flu shots were BS and haven’t wasted time with them since.

I've got the Gear Up, so it's got the two wheel drive system, and reverse too. And as a bonus it has a machine gun mounting post. It's the only motorcycle that my wife will ride, she really likes the sidecar. It really needs the carbs cleaned, which will probably be a spring project. And it does take a lot of room in the garage.

I dont have a problem with reporting income on brand new item sales. I sell USED gun parts privately from time to time on Ebay and have kept it under 10K anualy without issue. GB still allows buyers to pay directly to the seller with MO's and they bill you for the sales tax off the sale. So far, I'v not had any issues collecting a GB sale into PayPal. Gov over reach is out of control. There is no Income tax written in the US Federal Constitution. It was supposed to be a War effort tax only untill they helped them selves to it just because. Technically its illegal like so much of the "laws" you and I never voted for. Did they ever ask you about sending out your tax monies in the billions in foreign aid? Just more bend over and like it. You have no say in it back then or now. I also have sold on the 127 yard sale week. I guess I'm a felon there to for not running to them with a 1099-k? Good Grief....

I made $6,456 on ebay last year. Unfortunately I paid $7,679 for the parts new. I should get a tax refund. LOL

Paypal, Venmo, Square Cash App, and all the others now have to report over $600. This is really gonna hurt those doing the side hustle daycare and cleaning jobs as they will have to ask for cash or pony up to the tax man. I hate paying taxes but I love living in this country so it is what it is.

I also don't like obscuring the target with the sights. Pumpkin on a fence post is how my rifles are sighted. I typically shoot handguns as center hold as shown above, maybe that's why my usual miss is low? I always thought I was anticipating recoil.

I did just this on Jan 12th. I loaded some 158 gr LSWC Hi Tek coated bullets (Hoosier's) for my LCR snubby in .38 spl. The powder was 3.6 gr AA#2. Winchester Magnum small pistol primers gave me an average of 693 fps Winchester Standard small pistol primers gave me an average of 649 fps. I've found AA#2 easy to ignite and certainly the magnum primers were for a "let's what happens" situation. No signs of a pressure spike, primers looked fine, and I couldn't appreciate a difference in felt recoil. I've loaded 10 k plus of 9mm using Magnum primers during the supply crunch after Newtown. I just initially dropped my charge around 10% and worked to my desired fps. Again, no issues. I do try to keep magnum primers on hand for powders like H110 for .357 mag loads as recommended. But I've certainly run it and 2400 using standard small pistol primers. I just checked my notes from 1993. I had a 686 at that time with lighter than factory springs (they are factory now) but those springs wouldn't set off (according to my notes) CCI magnum primers under a load of 16 gr H110. I switched over to Winchester standard small pistol primers and they ran fine. (Note, I didn't own a chrono in '93.) Yes @JustEd, those 1000 fps .357 loads are nice and mild. And I'm using the .38/.357 158 gr bullets I mentioned earlier. They listed as 14-16 BHN and are sized at .358. I like them. I'm abused myself and my guns enough over the years, so this is a pleasant .357 load to shoot.

I think you are maybe overlooking the obvious: Small handguns are designed and intended for "combat" purposes. They aren't designed with the bullseye plinker in mind.

There are no dual-sport 2-stokes anymore, unless you find an OLD one on the used market. There are only a couple of two-stroke dirt-only bikes. But I still have a two-stroke street bike, an 89 Yamaha RD-350, and it's a BLAST in the twisties!

Quick load is your friend. Mag primers have a thicker cup and will handle more pressure. There is some debate as far as hotter or longer duration flame. It depends on who you ask sometimes. I will leave it at that.

Basically, powder for a magnum cartridge is slower burning, thus more difficult to ignite. Magnum primers are supposed to be hotter to help ensure reliable ignition of such powder. I would also strongly recommend buying a reloading manual or three, and adhering to published data. The 357 Magnum is a very versatile round. You can load anything from light target loads to large game hunting loads. I would recommend using the magnum primers with powders such as 2400 and H110, and regular primers for light loads using powders like Unique, Bullseye, and the like. The 357 magnum is simply a lengthened 38 Special cartridge. Folks were hotrodding the 38 in guns like the 38-44 N frame Smith and Wessons. While these loads worked in that big, strong revolver, it proved too much for many lesser guns. The new 357 was too long for the 38s chamber, and helped prevent these hot loads being fired in weaker revolvers. The main difference in loading for this and the 9mm is crimping. An auto cartridge headspaces on the mouth of the cartridge, so you basically just remove the bell from the case mouth. Most 38 sp bullets will have a crimp groove. This cartridge headspaces on the rim, so you can roll crimp the case mouth into the crimping groove. Other than that, it’s the same…size/deprime, bell, prime, powder, bullet, crimp.
