Thanks to an ammo tip from a TGO'er this morning. I went into Academy in Smyrna before work. Although the ammo was gone by the time I arrived, I had to go see if the gun case was empty. They'd gotten a shipment in, so I browsed. BAM! S&W M&P! I've been paying attention to the hype about these and several of my friends have them and love them. I have a .45 and a 9mm, and was actually hoping it was a 9mm since I already have ammo, but it felt so sweet in my hands. I left empty handed and went to work......and thought about it.....and talked about it.....and 2 hours later asked my GRACIOUS boss if I could take lunch early. He asked why, and upon hearing the answer, said "Go get it, but I want to see it before I leave!" HA HA Yep, I have a good boss! I prayed that it wouldn't be gone in that short time and double checked before I paid my 10 bucks for B.G. check. The guy cracked up laughing and said that he knew I'd be back. Must have been the drool pool I left on the counter. Already broke it down, cleaned it out, and drooled some more. Now to find ammo, a holster, and get it dirty again! I'm sure a lot of you have these, but I am super excited. I've only had two everyday carry pieces, a Ruger P89 and my carry piece now, Ruger P90. So it's a little different to say the least.

:shake:   They also instituted a hook up for CO residents that will trump all those.  They want to leave as many mags in CO hands as possible.  They have not raised their prices on anyone.  You can still get their mags as cheap as you always could.  They're going as far as moving their entire operation to a free state.  Has anyone else done that?  I would save my angst for those companies that are busy raking you over the coals.   SGAmmo - $35 for a brick of friggin' .22? CTD - enough said etc, etc, etc.   Instead you have people, even on this forum, that said they would continue to support the price gougers if it means they can save a couple dollars later on.  You have people on this forum that are raping their fellow Tennesseans and gun owners on guns, magazines, and ammunition.  If you want to aim your outrage at anyone, they should be target #1.

think twice about planting bamboo, then think about it a third time then just don't do it.   It has to be the worst plant ever devised.   People want proof there is a god,  this plant might just prove there isn't.   You will regret it.

  She wasn't there in person.  They just put her on for a brief moment to say who won best picture.  They asked her to do it, it wasn't like she lobbied for it.  I think we have bigger things to worry about than the first lady announcing who won the best picture.   These types of threads just make us look like a bunch of 10 year old's who had a ball taken away.  I don't like his policies anymore than you do, but these types of comments just make us look like a bunch of whiny losers.

I've had/have several. I may not have professional training or be competitive but it's been my finding that people who have had negligent discharges while using them are obviously at fault not the holster. I just don't see how it's possible unless you're a rubber fingered gumby.

Give him a call before you go as he does everything by appointment. Be sure to go see the grove of 50' specimens while you're there. The culms are about 3" in diameter. Awesome!

Don't believe everyone.  A well managed bamboo grove is beautiful and very containable.  The clumping variety still has rhizomes that "run", but they are all connected to the mother plant.  The plant sends its runners out far enough to send up enough shoots to support the plant.  With that said, a clumping variety doesn't mean it's not going to get to be 20' around, it will.  What is good about a clumper is that you can sever the rhizome and the extended plant will die.   Then there is the running type.  This is still a manageable plant, or you can let it take over.  If you have a specific area you want it in you must develop a containment system or you'll have to constantly cut rhizomes.    So how to contain it?    Natural barrier.  Pond, cliff, road.  There is one side, then you have to figure out the others.   Well it depends on the area you are putting the plant.  If you have grass all the way around your potential grove, just make a plan to mow it each week when you mow the grass.  The rhizomes will try to shoot up, and you'll mow them down with the rest of the grass.    Let's say you want to plant it along a fence with your neighbors yard on the other side... you have to create a containment system unless either A) your neighbor likes the bamboo and doesn't care to mow it, or B) you just want to piss them off.  There are lots of ways to do this, but a common way is to dig a trench along the fence at least 15" deep, but no need to go to 20", and use thick rubber lining or cut strips of corrugated roofing for the barrier.   The rhizomes only run at 15" deep.  You could trench all the way around your grove and do this same thing.   The other trenching option is to dig the same 15" trench and fill it with sand.  The rhizome will go through the sand, but it is very easy to take an 18" spade and go all the way around your grove once a year.  This will sever the rhizomes from the mother plant and keep it contained.   If you want to get some great advice and good plants, call the Alamaville Bamboo Company.  He is very reasonably priced and has many selections for you to choose from.    http://abcbamboo.com/

  A digression: Who are those people selling that stuff?  I saw some dude trying to trade 1600 rds of bulk .22LR and a Mosin for a Glock.  I felt like asking him if he had the other 350 bucks in cash it would take to buy a used Glock along with his trade fodder. Imagine thinking 1600 rds of .22 and a Mosin worth 450-550.00? Don't do it!    It's nice and dense and you can build things out of it but it's the Devil's plant.  My mother has a crop in her Memphis backyard that is a scourge.  I'm talking 20' beasts with 1.5" stalks that grow like wildfire.  Her's have the runners.

Ted, I bought one of the rain barrels from Lowe's and it has been great.  I just cut my gutter and put a piece of corrugated pipe to dump it in the top.  There is a screen on the top to keep the crud out.  In the winter and spring I leave a soaker hose hooked up and laying in the yard with the valve open to let it empty.  It doesn't take much rain to fill up a 50 gallon barrel, so that's why I leave the soaker in the yard.  Then in the summer time I move the soaker to the flower bed and shut off the valve.  Then when we don't have rain for a while I just open the valve and let it soak the bed.    http://www.lowes.com/pd_304422-50741-RB502PK_0__?productId=3056257&Ntt=rain+barrels&pl=1&currentURL=%3FNtt%3Drain%2Bbarrels&facetInfo=

My son is just now 10 but he's been turkey and deer hunting with me since he was 4. Obviously those front end years he didn't shoot. Actually so far, rabbit and squirrel is the only shooting he's done, but since he was 5 or 6 he has been AMAZING at calling turkeys. He loves sitting out in the blind and using the turkey calls. About 5 years ago he called in a big tom that I took with a bow.   That was just as much his turkey as mine.

For all this effort, we could have had the criminal penalty for 39-17-1359 removed, which would have resulted in the exact same thing.  Maybe even changed 39-17-1308 to include a persons vehicle so no permit would be required to have a loaded firearm in your car.

I shoot it all the time. 1000s of rounds down range in several different guns. Never had a problem. The steel case wearing out your gun in an internet myth, nothing more. Now I will say, they shoot at lower pressure than higher quality ammo. And may not be the cleanest, but it's just as clean as Win white box and everybody loves that stuff. That price is a little high. But if you are comfortable with it, go for it. And enjoy your day at the range with it!

What if it is Shelby?         I am certain of it after some thought. His wife left him 25 years ago (but why did he still have her clothes, that is a hole) and he is asking too many questions.   I think he goes and kills the widow now. Since she could identify him. Then Raylan's aunt said that she last saw him rubbing elbows with the big wigs, which could mean a lawman, which Shelby was in the past.

  Arguing whether to do away with SS and/or Medicare or not is really pointless because nothing is going to be done by either party.  Things are going to get worse until the entire system crashes, and all of the politicians know it is going to happen.  I think all we are seeing now is political posturing by each party so they can blame each other for the inevitable crash.   Just my $0.02, I think dismantling SS and Medicare is really the only option we have.  That said, I believe there are ways one can go about it instead of instantly killing it.  First off, you have to have harsh means testing.  If you are of age to receive SS and Medicare and financially well off you get nothing. Yeah I know people have paid in to it all their working lives.  All I can say to them is sorry.  As you will read later, people 45 and below will lose everything they have currently paid into the system as well.  I know this is socialism at its finest, and I hate it, but it is the only way that I can see how to dismantle a failed system and still maintain some compassion even if some that are receiving the benefits are undeserving because they acted irresponsibly or they did not plan properly.    All those under 45, they would no longer pay SS and medicare taxes. They will be ineligible for either because the time they retire those programs will no longer exist.  Ages 45 - 55 can either opt in or out at reduced and means tested benefits.  For those currently 55 and above, the programs maintain the current level of benefits, but once again, they will be means tested.   As far as cutting other governments programs, departments, agencies, laws, and regulations, I am all for it.  I honestly believe that you could cut the federal government by 50 - 70%, cut taxes for those that pay them, allow truly free markets to work, and most people would be much better off.  Everything that is cut or done away with can go towards paying off our debt, and fund the phasing out period of SS and Medicare.   I know this might make a few people mad, and it is pretty harsh.  If you are an illegal immigrant, you get absolutely nothing.  I don't care if you have paid taxes into the system or not.  You violated our laws, and in some cases committed a felony through identity theft.  Since everyone would take a hit under this plan, they have to as well.  They should consider what they paid in as rent. If they become naturalized, then they start at zero and the same age conditions that I mentioned above apply.   As I said at the being, we can debate what to do and how to do it until we are blue in the face.  In the end, nothing of real significance is going to happen until the government is forced to stop printing checks.

The Five said it best today, if the teacher wanted terrorists to be called "freedom fighters" and to show everyone how the muslim culture or "world beliefs" were, then why did they not talk about how if you are found to be gay in most of those cultures, you are beaten or murdered courtesy of state sanctioned laws?   If they're going to teach about it, it needs to be about the entire aspect of their culture not just selective bits and pieces.

Public schools are not about education but rather indoctrination. This is were the liberals have out smarted those with conservative values. The liberals know that what they want in society cannot be gotten through reasoned discourse so since the 70's they have focused on the education system. As you indoctrinate the young minds each following generation will have a more liberal way of thinking. Just look at all the social issues facing us today and we see none of them became a problem over night. Look at the make up and history of the teachers union and it becomes easy to see why public schools are where they are. I know there are the occasional conservative teachers out there and I applauded them for hanging in there. I firmly believe that the real battle ground for our country is taking back the minds of our youth. This teacher cared nothing about sentence structure but only about ideology. It is good to see these two young men and the mother take a stand a say NO!

I shoot a lot of lead thru my Glock stock barrel, never had a problem with it. I have reloaded and shot lead, plated and copper jacket bullets thru G20, G22 and G19 with no trouble and they are pretty accurate with LSWC bullets.

Went to the range today and put 40rds through the SIG 716 today. That was all I could take since it got really cold and then started snowing really hard right before I packed up for home! Gun functioned flawlessly. I really like it. It makes me not care about my Colt LE 6920 5.56 anymore. LOL Couldn't get an accuracy report due to having to leave so quick after getting it sighted in. Maybe next time! Didn't get pics or vids of it since my wife got too cold and had to go warm up in the car while I worked on sighting it in.
